And that’s a wrap on season 1 of the Winter King! I really enjoyed the finale - there was right amount of tension, the acting was wonderful, cinematography beautiful and the ending makes me want more of this story! So I really hope we will get season 2♥️. Im so proud of Iain because this project was completely different than his previous things and he did excellent job and it’s a pleasure to watch him on screen ♥️

Rise of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - The Green Ranger

The Power Rangers refuse to accept that killing her is the only way to free Tommy from Rita’s control, determined to find a way to end RIta without risking their friend.

One by one, over several battles with the Dark Green Ranger, the team are able to summon their Dino Zords, all inspired by a comment made by Billy when they first found the Power Coins. Once all five are summoned, they make a last stand, taking down Rita’s Dark Dragonzord with their newly formed Megazord, the Rangers fight on the ground, urging Tommy to fight her, don’t let her win!

Zack cries out, holding her back from the rest of the team, “Tommy! Don’t let her decide who you are! You decide that!”

Jason on her other side adds on, “You’re one of the strongest people I know! Fight her!”

Trini supports, disarming the Dragon Saber from Rita’s grip, “You have to be brave for us! For yourself!”

Billy, staff of the Power Lance pinning the Dark Green Ranger to his stronger teammates, “We’re not giving up on you! It doesn’t make sense for you too either!”

Kimberly rushes into Tommy with all her strength, wrapping her arms around her so tight that no power in the known universe could break her grip, face pressed into Tommy’s chest, “Please, you have to come back to us! You have to come back to me!”

From then on, Tommy officially joins the team as the Green Power Ranger.

Ok so at the beginning of the movie Pinocchio is kinda scary right? His limbs are too long and he's not wearing clothes and he's half unfinished and the way he moves his face is unsettling (you're used to the mechanical movement of the other humans at that point so the use of replacement to show the emotions leaves a wooden, static effect on his features at all times). He keeps repeating phrases and speaks too loudly and doesn't read the room and doesn't feel pain. It would be threatening or mocking if it was on purpose, and even it not being was at least a bit cringy. It's very much Geppetto's point of view: you tried to bring your son back but he came back wrong and now he's destroying whatever life you had left

And then the movie goes on and Pinocchio doesn't really change; he understands better, he starts to listen to those around him and to see what people need, but he's still gangly and awkward and loud, he still breaks things and doesn't show emotion the way other people do, is still undeniably other.

But he shows he was absorbing everything Sebastian told him; he payed attention to others who were, like him, exploited for being weak. He comforted, protected, saved, risked himself for his father, who seemingly rejected him. For the kid who bullied him. For the monkey who was the reason he was enslaved. We don't know if he was empathetic to these people but he had such a strong concept of justice and of fairness, he was so pure of all the hate being spat in the society he was born in, that he stood against it without a second thought.

And at that point I realised, without him having anything physically changed about him to make him more relatable, that I stopped seeing him as other, as weird, as menacing. He had the same energy and emotions but by then he was just another kid, he was a cute and sweet boy who I'd do anything to protect, who was in danger

And he didn't have to change a thing about himself!! It's us and Geppetto and Cricket and Candlewick and Spazzatura and the world around him who have to come around and accept him. And we do, eventually, and I think that was so beautiful

#guillermo del toro #i love that we're included in the story like that. he wasn't a cutesy child that the villains in the story viewed absurdly as an object #he actually looked like an object. but we STILL come around to him #pinocchio #so often we get a transformation even if subtle to change how we view these characters #softer features or clothes or something to humaise them #in this movie we arguably get the opposite: he has charred limbs and scratches and a decidedly not human body #he breaks his nose off without a second thought and losing his hand isn't a threat in any way except in hindering his swimming #but that whole scene broke my heart #i didn't even realise when i stopped seeing him as puppet #even while he still acted as one in volpo's show he morphed into a child in my head #anyways idk how to say this properly #it's just... in other pinocchio adaptations he basically starts off as a boy already he just has to catch up on the details to be allowed #that title. and here he theoretically already has a boy's soul but has to be accepted as his own person by others #he has nothing to prove he doesn't even see the sprite! it's cricket's job to advise him and geppetto has to come around and candlewick #consider him a friend instead of an object etc etc he is already himself #ANYWAYS

People are out here defending skipping scenes in shows cuz they’re “boring” or watching at 2x speed because they just care about consuming content rather than watching or reading art and this is exactly why media do so shit these days cuz executives KNOW that they’ll be able to sell content that isn’t great just because it holds enough attention and why bother taking the time and money to make good art when it’s not necessary to make money?

Man, I watched Sing 2 again because it's one of my comfort movies (and a lot better than people give it credit for) and damn, they had no reason to go as hard with the bad guy as they did.

First viewing I thought that "Yeah, he's just your standard one note hard to please producer that's always in movies about stage shows" but then it's like, he's implied to have murdered people??? He emotionally abuses his daughter? He attempts to throw Buster Moon off a high place TWICE, almost succeeding the second time??? He sends fucking hitmen after the protagonists after the Throw Buster Off The Roof Murder Attempt #1 failed because he wants to finish him off????

All because he thinks they damaged his reputation?????

Like, holy shit, he goes from a suave business man to a feral snarling beast and it's legitimately uncomfortable to watch. The tension in the cinema was so thick you could cut it with a knife.

Like, the only other Illumination bad guys I remember are Vector and El Macho because of the memes, but the first genuinely terrifying villain they've ever done came from fucking Sing 2. This guy felt like an actual threat rather than a joke character that Illumination villains normally are.

Like seriously! Start of the movie? Eh, standard stuff

Middle/end of the movie? HOLY FUCKING SHIT-

Well fucking played, Illumination.

I know they usually put out subpar stuff, but I think they should at least get some credit when they actually manage to make something good. Encouraging the good things is how you get things to improve, I think.
