And, in this moment, he knows how much Michonne has been his rock during this unbearable time as well as still fighting for their son Carl and his wishes, and so Rick thanks her for it. Her presence in his life is invaluable and he knows it.

Also, I adore the shared breath they both take when he says this. #TheyAreOne. And Michonne's so relieved that Rick has arrived at this point in his grieving journey.

Then Rick says he’s sorry which is also great cuz he knows going out and handling all this alone is not how magnets do. And Michonne is so understanding when she says, "You don't have to be."

It's just more proof that she is the exact kind of loving presence Rick needs in his life because she’s so good at both accountability and empathy. (Also in 4.09, Rick tells Carl sorry, and Carl also responds with, "You don't have to be." 😭)

I adore that we had so many moments of Rick and Michonne communicating 'I love you' to each other in different ways leading up to this point, and then this scene gifted us with the actual direct ILY exchange between them, and of course it was perfect and proof that...

I really feel confident this wasn't intended to be R&M's first time ever saying "I love you" directly either. In this scene, both of them seemed to communicate it in a way that said this is something they've said before and often. (like it feels like they don't show Michonne's facial expression upon hearing Rick say 'I love you' because this isn't a first. She's heard that man tell her this several times before 😋)

I like to think that why these season 8 'I love you's carry so much weight right here and now is because it might be the first time they've said it to each other post-losing Carl. 😭

How heartwarming is it to know that even in a sea of pain, Rick and Michonne still want each other to know that while their whole world has been changed, the one thing that hasn't changed is their love for each other. 🥹

Their love story is just heavenly. To go from staring at each other through a prison fence and thinking they’d patch her up and then she’d be gone to now declaring their love. Perfection. 🙌🏾

And ILY’s do not seem like a phrase either Rick or Michonne take lightly or would just say to anybody. For them to express this and fall in love with someone, the connection was going to have to be deep and special. And what they found with each other is the deepest love so of course they can tell each other these 3 words with ease.

And because Richonne is the gift that keeps on giving the scene doesn’t stop there. Michonne then approaches Rick and lovingly takes his face in her hands as they share a sweet kiss. 🥹

And only Richonne can make their movement after the kiss feel as passionate and intimate as the kiss itself. Cuz after finally connecting like they’ve been longing to do, Rick and Michonne stay in the moment, looking deep into each other's eyes before leaning their heads against each other with that blessed mirror giving us all the angles. 😍

I love that mirror, y'all. 😋 I'm deeming that mirror and the set designer who placed it there some Richonners cuz, baby, they knew what we needed to see...

The way Rick and Michonne touch each other is always electric, and I love that they seriously feel like one as she rests her hand on his heart and he gently moves his hand up her side. These actors are so gifted at not wasting a single moment or action because they communicate Richonne's love in every second of a scene.

(and when richonne inevitably does that signature forehead touch in TOWL, after years apart...y'all I just might ascend to the heavens right then and there 😇)

It’s also sweet the way Michonne looks at Rick before leaving for him to have this time alone to connect with his son and read the letter.

Having the scene end with Rick reading his son's letter in a whole mirror as opposed to the shattered mirror he saw himself in earlier in the ep, is lovely. And it speaks to the power of Richonne that Rick could arrive at this point, ready to slowly but surely start healing. 

“I love you” really is communicated in every Richonne scene. And while season 8 was a weak one overall, one thing it did well was illustrate the stunning strength of Rick and Michonne’s exquisite and powerful love.

the whole debate between whether sara snow will exist in the show, and the impact that it would have on baela is interesting to me.

mostly because these people who pretend to care about baela are only worried about her value as a romantic interest for jace. and her being "rejected" by her dragon prince in favor of a "unwashed, northern savage" (i have actually seen people refer to sara as this). as though baela's merits as a character depend on whether or not she is the true love of one guy's life and not on the merits of her own story.

that if she is a woman who is cheated on, that somehow means she is a weak character? as though beautiful, powerful, intelligent, and successful women aren't cheated on by their mediocre partners every day. but that doesn't diminish these women's worth. because no woman's worth is measured by her ability to keep a man.

baela's merits as a character for me always laid in how brave she was. rising to face aegon ii and sunfyre on her dragon the size of a horse. in how independent she was. refusing to be married off to an old man against her will, and instead making her own match. her bonds with her siblings. her and rhaena in their matching gowns and warhorses presenting aegon iii with his new bride. baela is a political player, she is a warrior, and she is beloved. she survives the war.

baela's true worth as a character is only truly revealed to the readers of fire and blood after she is freed from the shadow of being reduced to jace's betrothed and she is instead her own character.

i adore baela. and i want so much more from her in this show. but the least interesting/important aspect of her character is her betrothal.

Nerdanel vs Tar-Ancalimë

Nerdanel:

Nerdanel, called The Wise, was the wife of Fëanor, and known as a great sculptor. She refused to follow her family to Middle-earth in the revolt of the Noldor.

Best known as the woman who looked at the hot mess that is Fëanor, went “is anyone going to marry that?” and did not wait for an answer, Nerdanel is also so much more than just the beloved wife of Fëanor. Most notably, she is a sculptor (apparently a male-dominated field in Noldorin society) - her statues are so life-like that the friends of the depicted would go up and talk to them! She is also wise enough to land the epithet Istarnië, which means Wise One, and she is the only person Fëanor ever listened to, which borders miracle territory. Although when she married the pretty young crown prince of the Noldor, people said she was not good-looking enough for him, Fëanor begged to differ, as they had seven kids together, which is the largest amount of kids any Elven couple ever had. There must have been a lot of passion there (or maybe they just really wanted a daughter?). Although Nerdanel always seemed to have wise counsel for her husband, apparently she did not put up with his, as she was close friends with Indis, his stepmother he did not like. Unfortunately, their marital bliss did not last; when Fëanor pulled a sword on his half-brother Fingolfin (Indis's son) and was exiled, she did not come with him and instead stayed with Indis. This is often seen as her inventing divorce, although a more boring reading could simply suggest she disagreed and did not fancy accompanying him (LaCE does say Elven couples could keep separate households for extended periods of time). She also did not think about coming to Beleriand with him after he swore his terrible oath, although she did beg for him to leave her at least one of her kinslaying spawn sweet adorable baby boys (preferably the one she very ominously tried her hardest to name The Fated as a baby). I suppose the resulting, kind of permanent, separation, could definitely count as divorce.

she is a sculptor and an artisan so skilled that Feanor’s love for her competed with his own love of craft and creation. She raised seven sons and pleaded for their fates with Feanor because of how much she loved them and even though she loved him too, she stuck to her own beliefs and refused to leave Valinor….she’s so girlboss and she said you can go be a tragic archetype but our children don’t deserve that and also I will stay right here. We love a woman who refuses to give up her joys and her home even for a man she loves and ESPECIALLY since it was Feanor….the strength of her will is insane. I love her.

I know people love making characters gay (it's me, i'm people) and Ancalime is a great case for lesbian/ace/aro headcanons (about marriage) ''We could', said Ancalime, 'if I had any mind to such a state. I could lay down my loyalty and be free. But if I were to do so, I should be free to wed whom I will; and that would be Uner (which is ''Noman''), whom I prefer above all others.'' Propaganda for my girl Ancalimë, she must succeed. Technically Ancalimë is more obscure than most of the other characters here and she is such a wonderful character. This fandom says they like girlbosses, she is so girlboss, she's the First Ruling Queen. Plus she is politically savy - since she is called Tar-Ancalime that's probably not her original name, which means she could have named herself after the elven tree and not the other way around - that's one heck of a statement and more tree symbolism for her, tree lovers vote for her she is one of you.

Not just a staple of science fiction, other universes are a direct implication of cosmological observations

The other werewolf was a wolf of a woman. She bore soulless, intense blue eyes. Her eyebrows were perfectly maintained and arched, furrowed in a deep glare. A scar slit the raised curve of her brow. Intentional or not, it was best not to ask. Luscious curls cascaded down her body, creating a mass of onyx void flickering in the light. Her carved jawline was sharp enough to cut, with ruby red lipstick to top it off. Truly, this werewolf was a dominating alpha; the cream of the crop, and the leader of the pack. 

Next to her was a blonde woman, smaller in size. She wore round glasses, slightly crooked. Her cheeks were flushed with a pinkness that could be blush or natural. Pouty lips. Bright, black eyes. Round face. Her blonde hair was tied in one braid that swayed behind her back. The smaller woman wore frilly white, tipped with an ombre pink near the ends of her dress. Quite an adorable little thing and petite next to the wolf woman. She speaks up with a soft, quiet voice and asks, “What are your names?”

“Enid,” the original werewolf of the room answered, beaming happily. “This is Wednesday, my girlfriend.”

“I’m Friday!” the petite woman replied, smiling with infection. “And this is my girlfriend, Nyx.”

The black werewolf just nudged her head, staring daggers on Wednesday as if she was contagious. The original Addams glared back. She wasn’t afraid of a challenge but Enid nudged her, forcing her to concede. “Which of you two is responsible for creating a portal between our universes?” Wednesday bluntly asked.

Friday raises her hand shyly. “That would be me.”

“How will you fix this and return to your world?” Wednesday snapped. “The collision of our universes may cause a cosmological catastrophe that will affect my constellation clairvoyance.”

“I have no idea what she said,” Enid admitted.

Wednesday ignored the wolf hiding behind her. “Did you think about the effects of our universes colliding? It may blend time and space, altering history and concepts beyond our recognition.” The goth woman took an intimidating step forward. “I would prefer to not live in a blended universe where Edgar Allen Poe became the next Kim Kardashian.”

“Hey, back up mutt!” Nyx finally growled, stepping forward and putting herself in front of Friday. Her canines shone bright as she snarled like a feral beast. It made her look hauntingly savage and beautiful; a prime alpha establishing dominance. “It was an accident. Friday didn’t mean to end up in your pathetic world.” Her dark blues flickered over to Enid, letting out a pheromone that screamed ‘I am Alpha.’ Enid took one sniff and whimpered behind Wednesday, somehow making her tall frame smaller. “If I’m some rainbow barf in this world, Friday and I will gladly leave as soon as we can.”

Hearing Enid attempt to let out a snarl in defiance but to no avail, Wednesday crossed her arms and said, “This ‘rainbow barf’ is my girlfriend and I am the only one who gets to describe her as such.”

Enid’s baby blues lit up before she looked at Wednesday in confusion. “T-Thanks?”

Friday got in front of Nyx, giving the werewolf a pleading look. She placed her fair hands on Nyx’s neck, gentle and comforting. Her thumbs rubbed in small circles. The black werewolf’s intense glare softened, but only slightly. She held her protective stance against the other two. Friday softly whispered, “Nyxie, it’s okay. I would also be concerned if this was the other way around.”

“Hm,” Nyx huffed, backing down.

Friday then turned to Wednesday with a smile on her face. It was unnerving to the goth woman to see her face smile. A mirror image of her in some parallel universe where she loved rainbows and butterflies, this was Wednesday’s worst nightmare. 

Friday explained warmly, “Do not worry, other me! A small tear in reality will not integrate the two masses. I have ensured a plan to return to our own world before I conducted the experiment.” She takes out the most stereotypical remote that most science fiction movies have. It had a red button and everything. “This device needs some time to charge before it can be used. So, in the meantime, do mind us as we wait. I do apologize for the inconvenience and Nyx. She can be too protective over me.”

As if to prove her point, Nyx wrapped an arm around Friday’s waist, pulling her in close. Their bodies, while contrasting in color, fit perfectly. The black werewolf snarked, “I could teach your runt a thing or two about being a real wolf alpha.”

Enid finally came out of her hiding spot to gawk out, “I am not a runt! I was bigger than my older brother when I was born!”

Friday blushed, twirling her blonde locks as she said, “Nyx, I think you should go back to your original hair color. Look at her. I think you would look quite beautiful in blonde.”

Nyx looks disgusted at Enid, especially the red and blue ends. “No.”

Friday pouted, making Wednesday nauseated. She almost threw up when Nyx seemed to enjoy Friday’s childlike pleading and cuteness. 

Enid’s head shook back and forth as she looked at Nyx, Wednesday, Nyx, and back to Wednesday. Then on Friday. It would be a lie if Enid said she didn’t find Friday adorable. She had always imagined Wednesday as the opposite, and here it was. “Wednesday, I think--”

“No,” Wednesday snapped, earning a whimper from the blonde werewolf. “I am not dyeing my hair blonde.”

“It could make you bearable to look at,” Nyx snided, receiving a punishing snack on her arm from her girlfriend. “Ow.”

“Be nice,” Friday pleaded. Nyx lets out a low growl without malice and more out of annoyance. She looked like a hurt puppy begging for affection. “I think we are getting off on the wrong foot. Why don’t we start over? We should play a game while we wait for the device to recharge. We can take this moment to get to know each other.”

“21 Questions?” Enid suggested.

Friday’s face brightened as she replied, “Yes! Perfect.”

Nyx and Wednesday just shared a look of grimace.

I ended up talking WAY too long so I'm putting everything after the first one under the cut

all of us are dead- show about high schoolers as a zombie apocalypse starts. very funny and relatable, literally they call the police and are like 'have you seen train to busan?' bffrrn. has a lot of social commentary and there are references to the sinking of mc sewol (a cruise that sunk where the captain deserted it and left a large amount of high schoolers to drown). commentary about how adults save themselves first/leave youth to fend for themselves. one of my comfort shows and although they didn't intend for more seasons, it was received so well that they have been renewed! I am also an ot4 truther and sometimes talk about them on my international shows sideblog: @nam-on-jo

sweet home- (disclaimer: I am not caught up and have not yet seen s2 which came out a little while ago) honestly I have no idea how to explain this so I'm gonna copy-paste the blurb: as humans turn into savage monsters, one troubled teenager and his neighbours fight to survive and to hold onto their humanity. basically people turn into monsters for [redacted] reasons and everyone in his large apartment building is stuck inside trying to fend for their lives.

my name- I'm just going to paste the blurbs going forward because it's easier: Following her father's murder, a revenge-driven woman puts her trust in a powerful crime boss -- and enters the force under his direction. bro some of these twists I expected but others caught me off guard. I love the main character and am a little gay for her but I think that's valid because she's a bamf. there was a plot point at the end of the second to last episode that I really didn't like and made me very upset. narratively I get why they did it but it made me sad so I'm still pissy. might get around to writing a fix-it fic one day when motivation strikes because my girl deserves better things.

the guest- a detective, a catholic priest, and a psychic join forces to fight crime caused by supernatural forces. not to say they are my ot3 but they kinda are. (other ppl interpret it is a lesbian and her two bi/gay bffs which I also accept but. ot3 tho). LOVED every twist and turn and how the three of them go from not trusting one another to being family. genuinely one of my favorites from all the kdramas I've watched over the years and I want to rewatch it again soon

happiness (tvn)- The residents of a high-rise apartment fight for their lives against a deadly infectious disease while Sae-bom and Yi-hyun try to find the person because of whom the virus spread. bro I adored this. some characters annoyed me (which means they were written effectively) but it has so much. fake dating/marriage (they wanted a better apartment lmao). annoyances to lovers. mean/rude woman soft for sunshine man. what you will do for the people you love. morals and humanity during a catastrophy. *smacks show* you can fit so much into this. no but seriously, I thought this was a really interesting take on the zombie virus! so some of the time you come off completely asymptomatic and 'normal', so people can get away with acting normal and hiding the disease around other people, so the paranoia and mystery is REALLY amped up. had me guessing a LOT. sae-bom and yi-hyun are both cops/detectives and you find out really early (ep 1/2?) that sae-bom is immune which gives a really interesting dynamic that leaves her (to yi-hyun's exasperation and heightened blood pressure levels) to be kinda reckless in the pursuit of truth and salvation. I'm rambling now because this is making me watch to rewatch but yeah as a zombie/dystopia/apocalypse lover this was a good watch. it's more story-focused than violence-heavy which was a cool and refreshing twist

alice in borderland- okay y'all I am aware people had mixed feelings about s2 but overall I did enjoy the series. 'Obsessed gamer Arisu suddenly finds himself in a strange, emptied-out version of Tokyo in which he and his friends must compete in dangerous games in order to survive.' what can I say, I love a dystopian-esque setting.

the silent sea- imma be real, I only watched it for loml bae doona from sense8. 'During a perilous 24-hour mission on the moon, space explorers try to retrieve samples from an abandoned research facility steeped in classified secrets.' basically earth is in severe crisis mode as they run out of water to drink. water has recently been found on the moon, and although there was a mysterious tragedy that happened previously to researchers looking for water in a base on the moon, they have reached a level of desperation where they have another mission to look for moon water. mystery, paranoia, a couple of good twists ensue. I thought it was pretty good even though I have some mixed feelings about the open ending.

semantic error- yes I am sliding a bl into this list. bitch you thought. of course my bl-loving self would mention this (I forgot about it until I looked up good kdramas to remind myself of stuff I have watched). 'A strict, rule-abiding computer science major must work together with an artist with a polar-opposite personality to his.' confident cool boy meets bitch boy. it's great.

leverage con artists- I would be fired from running this blog if I didn't mention the beloved korean spinoff of leverage. 'The series follows the story of Lee Tae-joon, a former insurance investigator who forms a team of thieves and con artists to target the rich and wealthy. The team was also formed to avenge Tae-joon's son's death.' I've posted about it before so I won't go super into it but it's VERY camp, a good time, and the ot3 is alive and well. debatable more overt than their predecessor!

let's fight ghost was a thai show that I saw and loved that was adapted into a kdrama called bring it on ghost, but honestly I couldn't get through it because I liked the thai one better.

train to busan is technically a movie but it's iconic and well-known and I highly suggest watching it if you like zombie/apocalypse movies. disclaimer: kdramas do not have the slow 'walker' zombies. they are fucking fast and the stuff of my nightmares. would probably just jump off a bridge if this actually happened ngl

I did think that extraordinary attorney woo was cute. I never finished it and know that there are VERY valid criticisms about the perpetuation of media portraying people with autism in the stereotypical savant ways. however, I liked how the love interest accepted her for who she was, loved her because of who she was and made efforts to accommodate and learn how to comfort her in ways that would work for her

Oh this is sooooo good of a question.are you talking about with my characters? Bc if you are, here’s what I would ship them with. I’ll list moots that I interact with the most and have actually used as inspiration when drafting some chapters for each character I paired them with.

okay, I think @nikstrange, I’m putting her and @lisaaannna with heethan. I feel like they match with Heethan because he does have somewhat of a gentler side to him. Their soft nature balances out his aggressive and rough side, he’s insanely in love with them but bc of their loyal devotion to him, it keeps him tamed. They could deal with his toxic behavior bc they understand that it’s all out of extreme love for them.

now when it comes to Heelel, that requires someone who can take him and deal with his savage ass. Not to say the two moots above can’t, but I think they’re more partial to heethan. Their softness balances out his aggressive demeanor. I would say hands down, these two go with Heethan. @jaehaki @vampiregirl215 @amorvincitomina and @iamliacamila, I feel like they can put up with Heelel bc based off the convos and comments, I think their personality is just as strong. Heelel is very much like heethan….just savage mode x10. He’s going to be extremely dominate and he’ll have a very aggressive and rough nature to his love bc…well of who he is. he requires a strong lover that can withstand his ferocity bc that man loves HARD…enough to bring you to hell with him and make you his queen, he’s like Ethan mode x100.

I get lots of love for MT Heeseung but it’s hard to ship him bc all of them are anons that I don’t get PM’s from. But there’s one in particular that adores him, whoever that person is, they would get shipped with MT Heeseung. I also think I would pair @honeysjae with MT Heeseung bc I feel she gives me ethereal vibes that MT Heeseung is instinctively drawn to. She’s a siren for sure.

@raishaii I pair them with Sunno’s character (asmodeus) bc I think they really enjoyed his chapter and I could see them enjoying being treated like a queen from the Prince of Lust. I just know they enjoyed Sunoo’s character and they really elaborate on that chapter the most so I would definitely ship them with Sunoo/asmodeus. He would take care of them with a passion too.

@talesofyuan i pair her with Jungwon’s character (Mammon) not just bc I feel like they belong together, but also, she’s an outstanding writer and if you read her fics and teasers for her her upcoming Jungwon fic…it’s like, she gets him. No matter how he’s portrayed, she gets him and captures the best sides of him, and I feel like he would absolutely get her (especially Mammon) I could see him being so fluffy and absolutely loving her creativity and cuteness bc he’s into that. Ngl, when I drafted Jungwon’s chapter of SE7EN, she was my inspiration for y/n on that chapter. Her personality and her balance of playfulness but also the hint of her dark side when she hands down said “yes” when Jungwon asked her if she wanted to see some “dark shit” when he confronted those bad guys….yeah, that was all her in mind. Show some love and read her fics and you’ll see what I mean.

I know I have some new followers that are Jay biased, so I would ship them with Jays character, and trust me, they’d love it bc Beelzebub (Jay) is so badasss and gives bad boy vibes but is loyal to whatever woman he falls for. Plus…them magic fingers 😏

- Tonhon Chonlatee End Notes -

So, I've just finished Tonhon Chonlatee - yes, that notorious bl show that everyone is upset with. I'm not one of them, though. Like, yes every bl show, unless it's a classic one - have it's set of strong points and drawbacks, and so does this show. But honestly, I've immensely enjoyed watching this fabulous bl series. I was exposed to a lot of potential in this show. So, stay with me and hear me out on this!

Below, I've addressed a few of the strongest points of this show, along with the major flaws. But overall, it was a wonderfully enjoyable bl show for me, and I'd probably rewatch it's first episodes, once again.

STRONG POINTS

1. Chonlatee's Character

Ever since the first time I saw Chonlatee onscreen, I fell in love with this shy, kind-hearted, diplomatic, mature, and sassy boy. This young boy is the epitome of sweetness. Unlike most bl shows, where the bottom is often an innocent, reserved, naive, gullible boy who is constantly being taken advantage of, by others - Chonlatee is that sassy mature bottom, who knows how to stand his ground, be brave, and speak up for himself when he's treated unfairly.

Another thing I loved about Chonlatee - eventhough he seems soft, sweet and warm to everyone in his life, he is a strong person. He knows when to walk away from people, when to stop giving people another chance, or even knowing about which things to spill and which not. When he was badly treated by Amp, it didn't stop him from giving that woman a taste of her own medicine. He was firm enough to reject Tonhon when he found out about his kiss at the party, and carried that stubborness on until the last moment. He knows how to say NO, and that's the most attractive thing about him. Since, I often struggle saying no to people, this thing specifically made him so freaking cool to me. Overall, he is a gentle, warm, mature and lovely person, who also knows when to be sassy, savage and stand up for himself. I'm just sooo in lovee in with this boy.

2. Khaotungg's Acting

Yes, I had to write a separate point, exclusively for his acting in his show, because I was utterly impressed and stunned by his skills. Firstly, he was extremely adorable here with beautiful round black eyes, cute coconut hairstyle and he was so charming with a complete different aura, from the Eclipse. Since, my first exposure to Khaotungg's acting was in Eclipse, I'm only used to seeing his flirtatious gazes and seductive advances, but here! Omg, this man knows how to act in a completely different role of being a sweet, warm and adorable boy. From his minor, detailed eye movements to his soft, loving, low tone voice, everything in his acting was just beautiful and so damn enjoyable.

When you see an actor performing polar opposite roles flawlessly, that's when you realize how talented and versatile of an actor he is. After watching First's shows, I've finally watched another Khaotungg show - and trust me, Khaotungg's acting and screen presence gave me constant giddiness, smiles, and happiness. I couldn't stop smiling especially on the first episodes, because the setting was a lot lighter, humorous and fun, rather than the last episodes. I have been a huge fan of First ever since Not Me, but after I watched Tonhon Chonlatee, I've become another big fan of Khaotungg's acting too. I can't wait to see both of them in many more upcoming shows, whether as a couple or individually - I'd just be so happy to watch them work!

3. Best Supporting Cast

Now, believe me when I say - the Supporting Cast of this show couldn't get any better. It's absolutely the perfect supporting cast that the show would have needed. Where do I start? Firstly, the two amazing actors Mike and Toptap, portraying as Ni and Ai, were the best ever friend group the show could ever had. I was starstruck by their exceptional acting skills. Whether it'd be Chonlatee's iconic mom, Nam or his best friend Pang, the new rich kid, Na or even their new friend Miriam. They all are just absolute all-rounders at their respective roles. What is there that you won't enjoy about them? None.

It is safe to say that the entire Tonhon Chonlatee show was basically carried out by the Supporting Cast, whereas the main leads also did a wonderful job on portraying their roles. However, the Supporting actors wins on this, I'd say. These actors were the core essence of fun, entertainment and cheeky vibe of the show. They're hilarious, joyful and bring a sweet warmth to the show, they are also the best ever people one could ever find in their lives. Everyone is a loyal friend, they are helpful and has got one another's back. I think there's nothing more positive and beautiful than that.

4. A Simple, Humorous Show

To be precise, I'd describe this show as a simple, sweet, and humorous bl series. There are a few aspects of the show which aren't appealing, with complex ideologies and actions, however - this show still shines bright overweighting those flaws. The introduction of the first episode is hilarious, one of the best I've ever seen in a bl series. I was only half a minute into it, and I was giggling, smiling and laughing on my bed. Like seriously, the first few episodes were wholesome, adorable and endearing, despite a few disturbances, which could be ignored because of the stunning acting skills and vibe of the show.

The last episodes got a bit angsty, with a lot drama to overcome, but I cannot just forget all the warmth, happiness and joy this show gave me, when I was just starting out in the beginning. Many people have rated this series really low, because of how ending turned out. But for me, I believe it was a believable, sorta happy ending, which was needed for the peace of everyone. I was never a watcher who just rates stuff low because I didn't like the ending. I rate shows based on how much I enjoyed watching it. So here it goes, this show certainly over 8.7 for me, out of 10. I would highly recommend this bl to others who have backed out from watching it because of the scary reviews, but it is actually a lovely show.

WEAK POINTS

1. Tonhon's Character

Isn't it ironic how Chonlatee's character is in the Strong points list and I'm adding Tonhon's character here? Well, yes because he deserves it. Eventhough he is one of the main leads of the show, he is not a likeable character, due to several reasons. He is a tough, raunchy, macho dude ( atleast pretends to be ), who is too possessive over Chon, who is gaining lots of male attention in his University. He claims Chon as his brother but still obsesses over him like a psychotic jealous boyfriend. He doesn't like any male approaching Chon, atleast that's how he pretends, until someone sane put some wisdom into his brain that he actually likes Chon, more than like a brother.

Later on in this show, we realize Tonhon is always pressured by his family, especially his father to bring grandchildren to be an heir of his legacy -  which constantly puts Tonhon in an uncomfortable position. I also hated how Tonhon forced Chon to hook-up with women, eventhough he showed absolute disinterest towards it. Tonhon even kissed his ex-girlfriend Amp, while dating Chon, which was really infuriating for me. I hate seeing my baby boy Chon crying like that, I swear. Eventhough the kiss was planned and tricked, Tonhon did that to satisfy his ego and show others that he is not afraid of women, eventhough he loves Chon now. So, basically - there are plenty of factors why Tonhon's character was not a good one, instead it caused a lot of drama and pain, but we got to know his secret feelings at the end of the show, and everything was sorted out peacefully.

2. Annoying Villains

The worst part of the show is definitely the Villains, without a second doubt. In my eyes, the actual villains are Tonhon's ex-girlfriend Amp and her friend Neung. Technically, both of them are seniors at Chon's Department of Food Science, and that's why they get exceptional advantage for picking up on Chon in every way possible. Let's face it; they are the worst kind of people. Amp is a popular girl but with zero friends, funny huh? Her personality sucks, because she only focusses on how to create drama with Chon, how to give Tonhon a harder life, while damaging the peace of the show, so effortlessly. Neung is a side-kick of Amp, follows her plans basically, but worse because he tried to harm and force himself on Chon, after making him and his friends drink too much at the freshers party. But, it was Amp's plan though. I don't who is worse here.

But that's not all. When Tonhon actually starts dating Chon, she even dares to tell his family about Tonhon being gay, or tries to break their relationship apart by that kiss trick. She is rude, and disrespectful - she threw water at Chon, thinking as if she has the right of it, because she is his senior. I cannot even explain how much I hated Amp and Neung. I was glad that Neung stopped listening to Amp later on, because they both together are the worst duo ever. Amp's character is very under-developed and never evolved in the series. She constantly strategize new plans to tear apart Tonhon & Chonlatte. I'd have liked it if we could witness a little realization on her side, that what she did was wrong and felt guilty for that, but unfortunately we didn't get to see it. So, basically these two villains are pure evil, nasty and annoying, without any hint of humanity.

Tonhon Chonlatee is a quirky, charming thai bl series, showcasing the bloom of an exceptional love evolving from the unrequited phase. The show features strong loyal friendships, lessons on unconditional love despite any gender, and showcases messages on LGBTQ with a flawed yet beautiful storyline, and legendary acting skills from the actors. I wish this show was more popular, because it certainly deserves more recognition than it gets.
