birthday wishes

Ateez x reader 

genre; slight angst but mostly fluff

You placed your bookbag on the floor as you took off your shoes,you had just gotten back from school.’’jeez what luck I have for having school on my birthday’’ you said sighing as you looked at the birthday card lying on the coffee table. It was a big blue card signed by Ateez messy signatures and cute doodles decorated the inside but one sentence caught your attention, ‘’ dear y/n I’m sorry we can’t be there for your birthday I promise we’ll make it up” signed Jongho his handwriting was firm and you could see a tiny ink smug next to the sentence probably a result of him being left handed. You smiled and noticed the tiny heart next to his name it looked more like a “V” then it did a heart but you thought it was cute. You began to think about how nice it would be if they were here but you understood why they couldn’t be there, they had a comeback coming up and you knew that.that took lots of time and energy. You were a little sad you couldn’t hang out with friends either since they all seemed to have something to do either it having to babysit their younger siblings or being grounded no one seemed to be able to make it. 

But as you were daydreaming you got a text from one of your friends. “ come on I convinced my boss to let me on a break I’ll take you to go get ice cream”. You smiled although it wasn’t much, it was better then staying at home and watching old vlives all night. About 10 mins later your friend texted you saying they were outside. You grabbed your jacket and ran to the car. “Happy birthday silly!” your friend yelled excitingly(that’s a word right? lol) “Thank you “ you giggled. “ ready for ice cream birthday girl?” “yes” you answered. Your friend turned on the radio even though you weren’t paying it much attention as you looked out the window daydreaming, only snapping out of it when you noticed you had passed the ice cream place. You looked over to the smirking driver “ where are you taking me lol?”  “ shh don’t you trust me” your friend replied “ I guess” . 

After about 15 mins you had pulled up to what had looked like Ateez’s dorm. you noticed the lights were on and the street looked more packed then usual. “what are we doing here?” you asked “just come on” your friend replied . You walked up to the door, you didn’t hear anything from inside which was strange since usually you would hear san and wooyoung yelling or yeosang telling them to quiet down  but it was silent. “ are you gonna open the door or not “ your friend said from behind “ okay okay rushy pants I’m gonna “ you replied. “SUPRISE!” as soon as you opened the door you were meet with confettii and ballons. You looked around , there stood Ateez as well as your friends. “You guys you didnt” you said shooked. “We did” replied seonghwa “ it was actually jongho’s idea” . Jongho looked down and smiled. “ not to interrupt this cute moment but we got you an ice cream cake and it’s about to melt in a second” san said as he looked like he was gonna drop the cake any moment . “ make a wish!” wooyoung said as he saw you getting closer to the cake. You counted to three and made your wish. “what did you wish for?” asked mingi. “ I can’t tell you or it wont came true” you giggled. Everyone else cheered and the party began. You had a good time as you danced and chatted with friends, time seemed to fly by. 

Someone tapped on your shoulder, you looked over to see that it was jongho smiling shyly. “You wanna go on a walk in the park?” he asked “sure” and you grabbed your coat. As you and jongho  walked to the park you could hear him humming a song, it was a habit of his you noticed he would always hum when he was nervous about something. you wondered what he was nervous about but decided to wait til you got to the park. Soon you both arrived and decided to sit on a nearby bench.”you have fun today?” jongho asked . “ yes “ you replied not being able to contain the smile on your face. Jongho looked over happy to see you enjoyed his little suprise. “ I’m sorry I lied about not being able to see you on your birthday” jongho said “ its okay if you didn’t it wouldn’t have been a suprise “ . “ I know but i still feel bad for lying to someone I care about” now it was time for you and him to blush. you both looked at each other , just taking a moment to enjoy the others presence when a gush of wind blew. you shivered “ are you cold?” jongho pouted “ a little” you replied smiling at the cute face he made.” here” he handed you his jacket. You felt silly with both your coat and his jacket on lol. “ but what about you jongho I dont want you to get cold” “ I’ll be fine” he said as not even a minute later he was shivering like you were. You giggled as you decided to hang on to him so he could at least get a little warmth. Jongho smiled as he felt how close you were. you both didn’t say much and were just looking up at the stars. “ happy birthday y/n” . you only smiled in return as you thought back on your birthday wish and how it had really came true.
