Why is Finland the happiest country in the world?
High levels of social trust, for example, people don't tend to lock their bikes, or if you lose your wallet Finnish people would expect it to be returned.
In Helsinki for example, it is completely normal to leave a baby outside in a stroller while shopping or having a coffee
high focus on work-life balance
Finnish people have liberated children, trust their neighbours, commune with nature and leave work on time without overworking
However, Finnish people are often stereotyped as introverted and mind their own business
The climate in Finland means that in the winter there is continual darkness and it is very cold, however Finnish people are very content with what they have
24% of its gross domestic product spent on social protection
healthcare and education are all free, all the way up to PH.D level
childcare costs are paid for by the government and workers are entitled to 4 weeks break in summer and 1 week in winter, on top of the 13 national holidays
If someone in Finland with a family was to lose their job, it wouldn't affect their kids education or family healthcare
90% of all finish people say they have a hobby
Typical Activities
reading
biking
exercising in nature
walking
swimming
biking
gardening
cooking
