so dani is like, absolutely terrible and horrific at making drinks in general, right? like it's canon that her cups of tea/coffee are so bad it could kill a man, but can you think about jamie being EQUALLY terrible at cooking? jamie either sets the fire too high or too low and ends up setting off the alarm half the time.

the worst part about jamie is that she does NOT give up because what would happen to her pride and dignity? she survived a haunted mansion with some vengeful, throat-thirsty ghost but she can't cook some chicken corpses????? really? so she runs through like 5 eggs and almost like, sets the place on fire before she cooks even half an edible one. but it works out because dani is actually great at cooking and jamie makes phenomenal cups of tea!!!

I often think about how Jamie came to know Viola's story.

Sure, it could have been research, history books or tales people tell the kids about a lady that roams in the night. But it also could have been Dani.

Dani, waking up in the middle of the night shaking, when her dreams turn into memories of a life that's not hers, but sometimes it really feels like it is. Memories of rage, jealousy, abandonment, stubbornness.

Dani, laying with her in bed watching a movie, but not watching the movie at all. Staring blank at the wall behind the TV, feeling herself being dragged miles away from where she is, into freezing cold places that suffocate her with their weight, and sees through the eyes of the beast that lurks inside her into a reality of sleeping, waking and walking.

Dani, telling her everything she sees, feels and fears between pauses to stabilize her breath and thoughts. And Jamie listens and holds her tight, feeling as if it's the only thing she can do to keep Dani from slipping away into those memories again, almost trying to take off some of those awful feelings from Dani and keep them herself with the way she's pulling Dani against her, with the pressure of her hands on the blonde's back, with the weight of her lips against her love's forehead.

Can you please do the haunting of the Bly Manor headcanon, what working in that house would include?

WORKING AT BLY MANOR:

You were hired by Henry to kind of have the same role as Hannah, and you worked under her

You just helped around wherever you were needed, particularly with Flora and Miles whilst Henry looked for an au pair

You very quickly became acquainted with Owen and Jamie, and seeing as you were all constantly seeing one another, it didn’t take long for you to be friend them

You absolutely adore Owen, Jamie and Hannah, and the four of you all have a great dynamic, which just makes your job more enjoyable

Owen teaching you out to cook, and helping him out in the kitchen when he needs an extra hand during dinner 

All of you worry about Owen sometimes in regards to his mum, so you all try to help him out the best you can

Jamie likes you, but she doesn’t trust anyone in her garden, so most of the times you’ll just sit and accompany her while she’s gardening

Although, after spending more time with you, she might have you pull out a weed or two under her very careful supervision

“Look, I just don’t want you messing up my flowers, alright?” “I won’t, Jamie. I promise.”

You love unwinding after a long day with all of them over some wine, or tea prepared by Hannah

When Rebecca comes to join you guys, you’re so excited to meet her

You love the others, or course, but it’s fun to introduce new people to your little family

Immediately taking Rebecca under your wing, and all of you showing her around the manor and helping her with Flora and Miles

You, Hannah, Owen and Jamie absolutely love to talk shit about Peter, especially when he starts coming around more often because of Rebecca

All of you exchanging looks whenever he enters the room, and Jamie cracks you up whenever she pulls faces at him

Trying to warn Rebecca about Peter, because you all know she deserves better

Being horrified when Rebecca’s body is found, because even if she became more distant because of Peter, she was still part of your family

When Dani is hired and arrives at Bly Manor, you’re a little worried for her 

After what happened with Rebecca, you can’t help but view Bly Manor in a new light

But you absolutely love Dani’s enthusiastic energy, and you think her accent is the funniest

You, Hannah and Owen love talking about how there’s an obvious attraction between Jamie and Dani

“They would make such an adorable couple, don’t you guys think?” “We shouldn’t gossip about th-” “Oh, come on, Hannah, don’t you think they’re cute?” “Well, I suppose they are.”

Alternatively, you and Jamie love teasing Hannah about her crush on Owen

The two of you have been playing matchmaker for almost your whole time at Bly to try and get Owen and Hannah together

The five of you watching Flora and Miles’ story time performances together and cheering them on

When things at Bly start getting threatening and paranormal, you’re all very protective of one another

You care so much about your friends and you’d do whatever you can to protect them, because you know they’d do the same for you

You’re also all very protective of the kids, because even if they have their odd moments, they’re good kids who have been through so much

When you learn about the truth about Bly Manor, and Hannah, you’re heartbroken

Keeping Hannah alive by talking about memories with her, especially with Owen

All of you comforting one another after what you’ve been through, and even when you all go your separate ways, they all have a special place in your heart, and you’ll all always care about one another

jamie definitely calls dani like a decent amount of endearments but largely when shes distressed - we see it a little bit when danis doing the washing and sees the LOTL and jamie calls her baby 

BUT also i think its in jamie’s nature (for all of her brusque attitude and seemingly uncaring facade) to try to comfort people and her way is these soft names and quiet invitations - for example when rebecca thinks peter left her jamie - in the span of two minutes (!!) jamie calls her love (”hi rebecca, love!) AND chick (i dont remember the exact line but it was in the gazebo) 

so all of this is to say that i headcanon that casual form of warmth and empathy spilling over into dani a lot and jamie can get away with calling dani love offhandedly in public (because she’s british and can just chalk it up to that if anyone bothers to ask lmao) and probably only reserves baby for something of much more weight i.e. kitchen scene

and dani is very unused to any level of verbal affection like that because eddie pretty much only called her danielle; she’s always been danielle, or dani, or miss clayton her whole life so i think she’s not expecting to like it, especially as the years go by and she clings to being dani/herself as much as she can, but she does

also i think its important to note: 

dani puts a lot of weight into peoples names (her own and others), very strongly associates every person in her life with their name and doesnt shy away from that: (”flora?!”, “miles!!!”, literally says jamies name constantly and like a prayer, always says peters full name in reference to him lol, etc) and thats a part of dani’s rigidity/the way she moves through life 

so i dont necessarily think dani returns the favor and calls jamie anything else much besides her name. she DOES however mimic jamie saying “love” in her terrible british accent ALL the time

I think it’s funny that when Dani goes to the greenhouse with coffee for Jamie, the assumption is that Jamie has never had coffee before. Hence, “You might like it.” But I get the feeling that Jamie has definitely had coffee before and is maybe even a regular drinker of it. Despite that fact, she indulges Dani and drinks it, pretends to be none the wiser. But it’s bad. So bad. Part of her probably wants to pretend that it’s good because there’s this sweet human standing in front of her waiting with a look of hope on her face, but she can’t fake it and has to spit it out.

Do you have any headcanons for Damie after Bly? Like how they dealt with what happened there.

Oh boy, do I.

- Dani suffers from PTSD; Therapy doesn’t really help, since she can’t really tell anyone that she’s sure there’s a centuries-old spirit lurking in her mind, but Jamie makes her go anyway. The Tuesday morning walks to the therapist’s office are often with arms linked, sharing Jamie’s coffee since Dani can’t make a pot to save her life.

- When Jamie and Dani first start their traveling after Bly, Dani’s absolutely terrified of water (and she still is, years after) but Jamie finds that if she takes Dani’s hand and leads her to the shower she can get the blonde to let her wash up if she joins her to reassure her she isn’t sinking in the lake.

- Dani finds gardening with Jamie to be the most therapeutic activity. She often joins Jamie outside in the back of the store to help her tend to their personal plants. It’s like pulling weeds from the neatly kept beds there helps tug at the root of her own invasive thoughts.

- Sleeping after Bly is horrible. Awful, and filled with nightmares. Dani doesn’t sleep through the night most days, so Jamie takes it upon herself to be ready to calm Dani’s breathing down when she startles awake. Hence why their legs always are tangled - so Jamie wakes up if Dani bolts up in bed.

- [TW] Dani implies the whole, hey I might want to die not to hurt you, once. Every dangerous item leaves the house overnight, and Dani stares at Jamie’s back as she makes their tea in the morning and makes no comment on the missing kitchen cutlery from the knife block, or the lack of medicine in their bathroom cabinet.

- ( That’s when Jamie’s nightmares start, and she clings to Dani after each one like she’s afraid to let her go, and refuses to talk about the content of the bad dreams.)

I have more but I either don’t want this post to get too long/ or I plan on writing a fic specifically for the idea behind it. Anyway, angst is the worst best kind of pain.

Dating Jamie

You’d known Jamie for years before she even looked at you like you wanted her to

The two of you had met when your family moved to Bly and she was the only person who didn’t make fun of you for your accent

You were just a bit younger than her, but as a teenager, that meant she only saw you as a little kid

She gets a job at the Manor and you go off to college

You visit her on a holiday and you drink her under the table at a bar

She asks you out the next morning for a nice lunch at the manor

You go with her to the manor for lunch and she shows you around the gardens

“You know, this would be a nice place to kiss me.” “Message received.”

She kisses you and your heart literally skips a beat

Suddenly, you come down to Bly more often on breaks and whatnot

Jamie comes up to visit you a few times and it’s really nice

You graduate and move back down to Bly so that you can be with her

She’s mad at first, telling you to go be amazing somewhere else, but you stay

“Can’t truly be amazing alone, can I?” “I’ll wait for you here.” “But I want to be where you are.” 

That’s as close of a confessional as either of you will get for awhile.

You make Jamie breakfast and pack her lunches every single morning

She cleans up the dishes and brings you flowers from work

You have a good sex life 

Which was where you learned that Jamie was a softie

During sex, she’d hold you and things were normally pretty soft and tender

After sex, it was a lot of cuddling and pillow talk about what would happen if the two of you got to leave

Something happens at the manor one day and Jamie whisks you away to America for a trip

The two of you keep travelling and years later, she just up and goes back to Bly

When she’s done with whatever happened there, she’s different

She’s different and you don’t force her to try and be the woman that you had fallen in love with before

Instead, you’re patient and you grow to fall in love with her all over again

That line about Owen washing Hannah with a soft washcloth and scented soap...

I can just imagine Owen gently wiping the dried blood off of her cold skin, biting back tears as he gets to hold her stiff hand one last time. He even washes her head, kissing her forehead once he’s finished in a final goodbye. And yet it’s not goodbye. (They didn’t get a true goodbye, no.) It’s a promise, a promise that he’ll treat everyone as kindly as she had done, hopefully carrying her warm soul beyond in not just his memory but his actions.

Hannah is a ghost, but she isn’t what haunts him. What haunts him is what could’ve been.

I think that in the end Jamie died and Dani came to take her back to the manor, because Jamie truly died inside when she saw her at the bottom of the lake, which kinda makes her a victim of Viola, thus her belonging to Bly (with Dani). I bet the "Dani would never" line refers to her not cutting her life short, but she def welcomed her once her time was up. That's what I tell myself, at least

I just completely agree! Dani would never kill Jamie (as Peter killed Rebecca), Dani would never chain Jamie to her like that, in life or death. It’s all about love >>> possession!
