Just rewatched Thor 1 and Odin rips off Thor’s circle chestplates in the banishing scene. It seemed like some sort of cultural statement, but it was lost on me. Thoughts?

Well the clothes are part of the character’s identity, you see, so Odin strips him of those too when tossing him out of Asgard. (They resemble Odin’s own ceremonial chest plates.)

#talking about how clothes make the character and pointedly not mentioning a particular show #anyway I always assumed the clothing designs were symbolic of being Odin’s children and of Asgard #like how Thor and Loki’s helmets resemble Odin’s own one #it’s all stuff that says they’re who they are #so Thor being tossed on earth is like you’re not WORTHY of your name or family or title #that’s why it’s supposed to be devastating #though it doesn’t hit for Thor that he’s been disowned from that all until the hammer?

anyways... here's why i think Loki and Matt Murdock should be each other's narrative foil(romantic):

• Loki- famously known liar, Matt Murdock- able to tell when people are lying

• Both wear helmets with horns on them, but Matt's are small and practical and Loki's are large and gaudy.

• Matt Murdock- Practicing Irish Catholic, Loki- Norse "God" of Mischief

• Loki- Presents himself as selfish and self preserving, Matt Murdock- Presents himself as selfless and self sacrificing

• Loki- Will flee if he knows he's gonna get his ass kicked for no gain, Matt Murdock- Knows he's gonna get his ass kicked for no gain and does it anyway

• They simply seem like prime material for a "We vehemently dislike each other up until we (whoops!) realize we love each other so much we can't live without the other" type romance that I am always obsessed over.

• Thor would enjoy it, and, frankly, he deserves the entertainment.

I saw Thor: Love and Thunder today and there was a scene(s) with Thor and Jane that immediately made me think of asis.

You'll probably know what I'm talking about if/when you watch the film, but I thought of how asis Jane introduced Thor to American customs and such (and his outfits/hair).

Bruh they made these superheros so epic and now they're just tearing them apart. You don't have to destroy a character in order to lift another new character up. You don't have to double down on that effort when it's a male character and a new female character. Humor is fantastic and has always been a part of superhero movies, but stop making our favorite characters a fucking joke. (all imo of course)
