My Unpopular Opinions
I honestly don’t care that the Warriors Three died in Ragnarok. I never felt an emotional attachment to them. Their characters didn’t have enough, what’s the word I’m looking for, substance to them that I felt legit sadness at their deaths.
Loki was really the only well written character in the first two Thor movies. He has a tragic backstory - Odin lying to him about his lineage/birth - that made it easier to connect with him. I do like Thor, but I feel like he was missing that sort of depth that Loki had.
Thor: The Dark World and Civil War were bad movies.
Ragnarok is the best out of the Thor movies. I can understand why people didn’t like it, but for me, it was refreshing to have that humour and joking around, especially considering the more serious tones of the first two movies.
I think Taika did a good job with Loki. It was nice to see more of his powers - the fight scene with Valkyrie - and it was nice to see him not trying to ruin everything.

A Piece of Heaven
Summary: Reader comforts Loki after Frigga dies on Dark Workd, even if it means crumbling the walls she placed after Loki faked his own death.
Word Count: 5k
Pairing: Loki x Reader
Warning: Angst™
AN: You might be familiar with that particular shot of Loki looking absolutely shattered after Frigga dies, well every time I see it, I get the absolute urge to comfort him, hence I created this fic, that somehow turned into a lot more than it was going to be at the start.

"He’s alive?" You asked in disbelief.
Sif nodded "apparently he created a great disturbance in Midgard."
“That’s does sound like something Loki would do.” You replied almost emotionless even with the ache in your heart that urged you to scream and cry and punch him in the face.
“What will you do?” Sif asked carefully.
“I must see it with my own eyes.” You told her before walking out from the training room and towards the great hall.
You hid behind pillars when you saw him come through the great palace doors. There he was, with his head high, as if he was proud of the disaster he’d caused. Thor had filled you in on everything that’d happened in Midgard when he arrived to talk to Odin first.
"Hello mother," you heard his silky voice "have I made you proud?".
Your heart ached when you heard those words, yes, Loki had always been… well Loki, but it was as if whatever had happened before he fell from the Bifrost had pushed him over the edge.
"Don’t make things worse than they are, Loki," Frigga said. You walked towards them now, hoping to get a better look at him. He was as handsome as ever, as if the chains didn’t affect him at all, no dark under eyes, no nothing.
"(Y/N)," he whispered softly when he saw you.
"I thought you were dead," you said with a plain face, as you walked closer to Frigga.
"I guess it’s disappointing I am not," he said shooting a look towards his father.
"Don’t make things worse," Frigga told him.
"Define ‘worse’."
"Enough!" Odin reprimanded, "I will talk to the prisoner alone."
You shot one last look at him, and walked outside alongside Frigga.
Once you were out of earshot, you asked "what is he going to do to him?"
"Odin said he’d be sent to the dungeons for the rest of his life if he doesn’t repent."
"Which he obviously won’t," you concluded and Frigga shot you a look, she knew your friendship with his son had always been special. You’d learned magic together and trained together since you were children. She even hoped your friendship would blossom into something else, something bigger than just affection towards each other. But then Thor was sent to earth and things got…. disordered. Loki’d learned that he was actually a frost giant and gone on a power-hungry adventure. You remembered that day vividly.
"Loki what’s wrong?" You’d asked concerned approaching him.
"Don’t touch me!" He’d snapped. But you got closer anyway, placing your hands around his face.
"What happened?"
"I’m a monster!" He’d screamed, "I’m just a nightmare disguised as a man."
"Loki what are you-"
"-Take her out," he’d told the einherjar that stood on the doors.
"What?" You’d frowned at his words.
"Take her out, lock her in her chambers I do not care. I do not want to see her anymore."
"Loki stop, we can talk about this, just trust me." A flicker of doubt crossed his eyes but then he motioned for the einherjar to take you away with a stern face. That was the last time you saw him before he fell from the Bifrost. He’d left you locked in your chambers as he took the role of king and only when he was presumed dead they’d let you out.
“What happened?” You’d asked Thor then.
“Loki… he’s gone.”
“He left?” You’d questioned frowning.
“He died, (y/n). He fell from the Bifrost.”
You nodded and closed the door on Thor’s face as politely as possible. You were enraged. Your whole room exploded in a feat of angry magic before you crumbled to the ground in tears. Thor could hear you from the other side of the door but decided it was best not to intervene, after all, you were capable and would likely cut his head off if he annoyed you. He made sure you were brought food all the way to your chambers for the time you were locked inside them. Eventually, your anger turned into sadness and longing. You missed Loki like hell, you wanted Loki, to see him, to hear him, to feel him. But he was gone. Or at least that was what he’d made everyone think which had only made you madder when he came back with his stupid smile as if he was proud of the torture and pain he’d caused you.
“Darling, I’ll convince Odin to allow you to visit him whenever you want,” Frigga said, sapping you out of your thoughts.
Your frown deepened “I do not wish to see him,” you replied angrily, but composed yourself when you remembered who you were talking to “but I am thankful for having the privilege of such a caring queen.” You bowed down politely “if you may excuse me, I must retire to my chambers.”
Once in your chambers, you heard a knock on your door. “(Y/N)?” Thor said casually “are you available? They need backup in Vanaheim.”
You took a deep breath and opened the door with a smile on your face “let’s go break some skulls,” you smiled as you transformed the silky dress you wore into full body armour.
“Sometimes I wish I’d learned magic.” He said motioning towards your fast wardrobe change and then made a small hand gesture for you to follow behind.
You quickly passed through the armoury and grabbed your blue daggers, sliding them in their hostler before taking your sword.
“You’re leaving your shield?” Thor asked motioning towards it.
“I’m playing offensive today,” you smirked, you needed to take out your anger somehow, and if breaking some skulls was the way to go then you’d take the chance as a gift wrapped in gold.
He grabbed his hammer and the two of you walked along the Bifrost, where Heimdall awaited.
“To Vaneheim,” Thor said and Heimdall nodded, dipping his weapon and activating the Bifrost.
When you arrived you saw Sif fighting some ugly-looking folks. “I have it under control,” she spoke.
“Is that why everything is on fire?” Mocked Thor.
“I’ll cover your back,” You told Sif and walked towards one of the ugly aliens, splitting his head in half with a swing of your sword.
“What happened?” Sif whispered to Thor while you were slaying some other aliens.
“She saw Loki again,” Thor whispered back.
“Oh… so she’s pissed.”
You split an arrow directed towards the two of them with a swig of your sword “Stop the gossip and fight!” you yelled at them while charging onto another alien.
The two of them split apart and focused on the fight at hand.
The fight went on for a bit, but everyone seemed to stop when a giant rock warrior started walking towards the center.
“All yours,” Sif told Thor, but he was looking at you. That shine in your eyes that screamed, I want him. I want to destroy him. He knew better than not letting you have what you wanted and he knew, more than anything that you needed it. Especially after mourning someone who turned out to be alive. He had enough fights to deal with his feelings back on earth and neither of you knew a better way to release your anger than to punch some enemies.
“No. It’s hers.” He smiled pointing at you.
All the aliens laughed at you walking towards the giant with the decision of freshly shot bullet. But as soon as the giant threw a punch at you, the illusion you portrayed disappeared and you appeared behind him. Lightly tapping his shoulder with the top of your sword.
The giant turned around quickly and you repeated the same action. After a couple of more times of confusing the giant, you surrounded him with several projections of yourself. Having him hit all of them as you switched places. But then, he got you. A hard blow of his weapon directed straight towards your face. Nothing heavier than a slap, was what you felt, but it enraged you nonetheless. As you looked up you felt a warm liquid dripping down the side of your mouth. You passed your hand over it and saw the blood. You licked the rest of the blood from your lip and tasted the coppery flavour as you looked at him “all right, I’ve had my fun,” you said before wielding your sword as hard as you could towards his torso and splitting it in half.
All the other aliens looked at you with dread and dropped their weapons. Meanwhile, Thor walked towards you and threw an arm over your shoulder “feeling better, love?”
You rolled your shoulders and your neck, trying to ignore the sting from the blow you’d gotten “a bit relieved, I must say.” You replied cockily but then turned to him in a serious tone “Look, I know we were never as close as I was with him,” you said carefully “but thank you, you’ve always been there for me.”
He just smiled brightly at that “that’s what we friends are for!”
You saw Hogun looking at Thor as if waiting for his turn to talk to him. You pointed at him “looks like you’ve got ruling duties to fulfill,” you told him nodding towards the other man.
He gave you a rather quick look, as if making sure you were really fine, before walking away. Sif approached you as you were wiping your sword from the bloody battle “I heard he is back.”
“Good for him,” you replied as you continued with your task.
“When he… well disappeared, you locked yourself on your chambers for months…”
“…and?” You said turning to her and raising an eyebrow.
“You were close, (Y/N). Him coming back must have done something to you.”
“We stopped being close the moment he locked me up in my chambers and decided to go on a power-hungry adventure to take the throne of Asgard while Thor was trapped on earth. I wasn’t even there with you on the battle against the destroyer, because he wouldn’t. let. me. out. So I’m sorry Sif, if I don’t feel anything but anger now that he’s back. I hated him. I cried for him. And I made peace with it.”
Sif sighted, not convinced by your words. She knew you. She knew that you hadn’t been the same after Loki’s “death” and she knew that anger wasn’t the only thing you felt. She’d seen how you yearned for the man, the mere mention of his name making you gulp just a couple of weeks prior. She was worried about you, especially since she knew The Allfather had forbid anyone but Frigga to visit him.
“Do you have anything else to tell me?” You asked, a bit more hostile than you intended, so you opted for correcting your tone next “I’m famished, I’d love to go back home and have a decent meal before the banquet starts.”
Sif still looked at you unconvinced but nodded and the two of you walked towards Thor who quickly called Heimdall. Soon enough the entire crew was back at Asgard and after smiling for all the compliments you got from the battle you excused yourself to walk to your chambers. But as you were, you heard Frigga talking alone in the library.
“I’ve done everything in my power to make you comfortable. Loki” She said. You instantly knew what was happening. She was talking to him. And then, as soft and warm as it had always been, his voice, Frigga had also brought his voice along with her illusion of him.
“Have you? Does Odin share your concern? Does Thor? Does she? It must be so inconvenient them asking after me day and night.”
“You know full well it was your actions that brought you here.”
You sighed. That was not a conversation you were supposed to hear. It was between her and Loki and you had absolutely nothing to do with it. That was until you heard Frigga ask “Then am I not your mother?”
There was silence and then it was him again “You're not.”
You knew that must have hurt him to say as much as it hurt Frigga to hear. Well, he deserves it, a part of you thought while the other was desperate to run and give him a hug. How long had it been since you’d relished on one of his hugs?
“Always so perceptive about everyone but yourself.” Said Frigga before she started walking towards the exit of the library. You hid behind one of the bookshelves to not be seen by her. But she only smiled as she left. Knowing full well you had been there. And having given you that little bit of the conversation, for you to try to understand Loki as you’d always done. For you to patch things up with him before it was too late.
At the feast, your changed your warrior clothes for a fancy-looking gown and graciously walked towards the tables of Valhalla. You relished on the smell of roasted chicken, beef, and pork as you walked towards your seat alongside Thor. You noticed his demeanor. Clearly, he still missed that human lady you hadn’t had the pleasure to meet yet. But you had gone to the feast with one intention and one intention only. You’d get so drunk, you’d forget Loki even existed. Still, you made a mental note to talk to Thor the next morning.
And as you had planned you did. Mead and beer and snacks had been there for you when no other human was allowed. You drank more than was probably possible and danced and sang and god knows what else because you’d forgotten about it altogether. Once you woke up the next morning with a massive headache you made the point to go talk to Thor at breakfast.
Sure enough in the big round table, he sat, still looking all down in the dumps as he toyed with his food like a child.
“What is it goldie locks? That’s got you so down.”
“It’s… Odin he, he makes a point of reminding me how useless it is to fall in love with a mortal.”
“Ever so practical, your father.” You added.
“He wants me to marry you, you know?”
You snorted at that “wouldn’t he?“ You grabbed a piece of fruit and popped it onto your mouth “he did always make the point to keep us three together, didn’t he?”
“He said something about you being born to be a queen, no matter what you picked in the end.”
“How unfortunate it is then… that I never coveted a crown.”
Thor chuckled without much energy after that. “I just can’t help but wonder how she is.”
“Thor. You can literally just walk to the end of the Bifrost and ask Heimdall.”
“I… that’s right. I could,” he said as a small smile appeared through his lips.
“Well then, why are you still here?” You said with a smile motioning him to stand up. And he did with a smile, turning towards you only when he was at the door.
“You’re the best, lady (Y/N).”
“Oh your flattery won’t get you anywhere Thor! Go on then, get the girl!, or whatever it is midgardians say.”
He flashed another smile and left you to finish your breakfast. Once you did you walked towards the gardens but noticed quickly something weird was going on. Thor had left through the Bifrost and you knew it had been against Odin’s wishes, so you jogged towards the Bifrost to try and get answers from Heimdall.
“Jane Foster was lost.” He’d explained. And you stayed alongside him as he narrated everything that was happening with Thor back on earth. Sooner than later Thor was back and he had brought Jane with him.
“That was amazing! Can we do it again,” she said as she walked through the portal, it made you smile.
“It is a pleasure to finally meet you, Lady Jane.” You said with a smile, extending out your hand to shake hers.
“Jane, meet Lady (Y/N). She’s one of the best warriors in Asgard,” said Thor.
“And you insist with the flattery.” You denied with your head “come, Lady Jane. I’ll guide You to the infirmary.”
“How does she?” Jane asked confused, turning towards Thor.
“She must have watched us alongside Heimdall while we were down on earth.”
Jane nodded at his answer still frowning a bit but following you nonetheless.
Sooner than later you’d left Thor and Jane in the infirmary, you’d talk to Odin to try and explain things before he stormed in angrily.
“Lady (Y/N), what do I owe the pleasure to?” He asked as you walked inside the throne room.
“Thor brought Jane from Midgard, there’s something weird going on inside her.”
“What?!” He asked visibly enraged.
“She seems to have acquired an illness.”
“Thank you for telling me, Lady (Y/N), I’ll see for her to be taken back to Midgard.” He said as he walked to the exit.
“But your Grace, that is not what I came here for. I do not wish for Jane to be kicked out, we can help her.”
“Your services are not required anymore Lady (Y/N), you may go back to your chambers.”He was already exiting the throne room and you followed behind, when he noticed he turned around sternly looking at you “I said, go to your chambers.” Now, that was an order. And no matter how much you wanted to ignore his stupid wish you could not defy the Allfather. So you nodded politely and walked back to your room.
“Lady (Y/N)? What brings you here so early?” Asked your maid Anne as she picked some of your clothes and placed them on a basket.
“Odin.” You replied dryly. Anne knew better than to press further. “Stupid royals and their stupid locking people in their chambers when important things are happening outside kink,” you mumbled as you unlaced your boots. “I swear only Thor is goddamned normal.”
“Do you wish for me to bring anything from the kitchens, or perhaps the library?” Anne Asked trying to distract you.
You looked at her politely “just the news Anne, I wish to be updated with everything that happens regarding Lady Jane.”
Anne nodded and quickly walked outside. You took a deep breath and threw yourself on the bed, sighing deeply. The projection of Loki on the library popping in your head before you shook it off angrily and grabbed the book from your nightstand to try and distract you.
Later that day Anne had told you how everything had been resolved and also that you had been formally invited to dine with Lady Jane, Thor, and his parents.
As you walked outside after Anne finished doing your hair for dinner you quickly realized something wasn’t right. All the soldiers were walking towards the dungeons. Your mind instantly thought of Jane. If all the soldiers were going towards the dungeons, she’d be left alone. You bumped into Thor on the way there “where’s Jane?” you asked as you jogged by his side.
“She’s with my mom. Can you go as back up? We still don’t know the level of the threat.”
“On my way,” you said before parting ways with him. You sped through the palace in the direction Thor had told you to go but couldn’t find them as quickly as you expected to. You must have looked for an hour before finding Jane crunched behind an armoire.
“How are you?” you asked.
She nodded visibly scared “Frigga, she’s with them in the other room.”
You almost panicked when you heard that but took action fast and ran to the other room, unfortunately by the time you got there, it was too late. Frigga lay on the floor as Odin walked in to fight the intruders. You quickly walked towards her and tried to heal her with magic but she grabbed your hands to stop you. “Just, take care of him, please...” Your eyes opened wide at her words “care for my Loki.”
Your eyes started welling you with tears when Thor walked in and ran towards his mother. You gave him the space he needed and walked towards Jane, who stood there shocked.
“What happens now?” She whispered towards you.
“We mourn our soldiers and all of the casualties of the battle.” You told her with a stern face. As a small tear dropped from your eyes. You reached up to clean it quickly but she grabbed your hands to stop you.
“It’s alright to cry,” she said with a reassuring smile.
You almost caved in, after all, Frigga had not only been your queen but also your teacher and mother figure during your years in training, but snapped yourself back to normal “The fight might not be over yet, I cannot afford to crumble.”
She gave you a pitiful look but nodded and let your hands go, dropping hers to the side as you wiped the tear away.
Fortunately, the elves were gone and the palace had been secured. You had been in charge of preparing Frigga for the funeral. And as much as it hit you to do it you’d helped the rest of the maids clean her wound and dress her in one of her finest gowns. Later that day as they placed her on the small boat you grabbed one of the small flowers from beneath her and placed it on your pocket dimension with magic.
The funeral went by fast. And once Frigga had turned to dust you excused yourself and walked back to your chambers. Right there, everything was perfect, as if nothing had happened hours earlier. It enraged you, how everything seemed to go on perfectly fine while you felt so empty. You grabbed the pillow from your bed and muffled one of your screams with it, throwing it towards the wardrobe minutes afterwards. But the strength of your throw shook the wooden piece of furniture slightly and something felt from the top. As you walked towards it you found an old book ok the floor. You cringed, you knew exactly what it was.
As you flipped the hardcover open you saw his handwriting.
For my favourite seiðkonur, who finally graduates from our magical courses. I hope this journal helps you keep all your spells in place.
With Love,
Loki.
You gulped hard, how’d seemed like an eternity ago that he’d been your closest friend. Hell, he’d been your everything when your father passed away in battle before you arrived to the castle. The only one to be curious enough to care for the small girl that would be living in the palace until she was old enough to manage her parents’ land.
“Why are you crying?” a small Loki had asked as he found you in the library.
“I’m not,” you’d lied, whipping your tears as quickly as possible.
He’d kneeled down closer to where you sat, to look at you directly. Noticing quickly your red eyes and tears. “I know a story that might make you feel better.” He said politely.
“I said I was fine.”
“I’m going to be practicing it anyway. Mom wants me to go and tell it to the servants later on to practice my ruling voice. You may stay if you want.”
You’d looked to the side but stayed in place as little Loki sat beside you on the table and grabbed a book from the bookshelf behind you. He read the story aloud, even when his throat was raspy. He did not stop until he heard you laugh three times and then the two of you parted ways. Later he’d asked his mother who the “sad girl” was and she’d explained that you lost your father just a few days ago and that your mother had died when you were born. In the following days, Loki kept going and narrating more stories for you to listen, you never realised he never actually narrated them to any servants.
You sighed closing the book and placing it back in its place. You knew what you had to do. You walked downstairs and towards the entrance to his cell. As you walked past by him he threw you a spiteful look “Have you come to gloat? To mock?” You only held his stare before walking towards the einherjar that protected his door.
“You cannot come in, Lady (Y/N). Odin has forbidden it.”
You smiled at that “you can try and stop me.” Both einherjar looked at each other nervously, “or you may let me in and go tell Odin afterward. I doubt he’d appreciate two einherji bothering him as he mourns the death of his wife. Either way, I’d like to remind you both I know all your friends, and your girlfriend Magnus,” you said the last bit turning towards the one on the left. He gulped. You smiled “So what is it going to be?” The two of them moved away from the door. “I did believe you’d be wise enough to pick the right choice,” you said right before walking in, closing the door behind you.
“It wasn’t enough to make fun of me from the outside? You had to come in?”
“You know Loki, it pains me that you think so lowly of me.” You frowned “to truly believe I would come here to gloat, even after knowing first hand the pain you’re feeling at the moment.” Your feet bumped into something on the floor “if you could please get rid of this stupid illusion before I trip.”
He compelled and with a wave of his hand the place revealed its true state, he revealed his true state. Disheveled, with dark bags under his eyes, looking like a mess as he sat on the floor with his back against the white wall that was now tinted with some sort of dark pigment. Bright red blood staining his left foot, contrasting with his pale skin, that now appeared almost greyish, he looked probably like he felt, a broken poem, a lost thought, a nightmare that you wish to wake up from. Seeing him like that made your heartache.
“If you didn’t come here to gloat, then what?” He asked still defensively.
You walked towards him, kneeling right in front of him to get a closer look at his face “can you really think of no other reason?”
There was a flicker of doubt in his eyes before looking to the side. “There must be nothing but hate towards me in you.”
You sighed “you are mistaken Loki. There is hate, yes. But you were my best friend and I thought you were dead. The hate was only there because you pushed me to the side.”
“You would’ve stopped me,” he mumbled, “you were the only one that could’ve stopped me.” He said almost to himself.
“I’m still pissed Loki.” He nodded at your words “but I’m still here, am I not?”
That made him look at you, his bright eyes still red from crying. There was nothing but pain in his expression.
“I’m sorry,” he said as a tear slipped through his eyes “I’m sorry for causing you this pain,” he said pointing towards the empty feeling inside his chest as several other tears followed the first one.
You let a heavy breath out and placed your hand on his shoulder. Appearing the flower you’d taken earlier in front of his face. “It’s from her boat, I’ve charmed so it stays this way forever.”
He carefully grabbed it from the stem and started turning it.
“How was it?” He asked not looking away from the flower.
“It was beautiful. She… she looked stunning even then. She wore a golden gown and her boat was filled with hundreds of flowers. She looked like a true queen.”
“I wish I’d been there.”
You took a deep breath but continued describing the event. By then you’d made yourself comfortable by his side and narrated the story with your head resting on his shoulder and eventually, he rested his head on top of yours, you didn’t complain. At some point, you felt his breath steady. “Loki?” You asked in a whisper. He did not reply, he’d fallen asleep. You took a deep breath then. You could see his chest rising and falling slowly and it only made you remember the old times. When you’d tease each other for falling asleep while studying for a test and to better the other in the next class. You closed your eyes afterwards. And comfortably laid there until eventually, you fell asleep as well.
There were still so many things that had to be done before mending your relationship with Loki, it may never be just like it’d been in the past. But you would try. For Frigga. For Loki who had lost the one person he trusted in the entire universe. And for yourself, who had maybe gained back her best friend the same day one of the most important figures in your life had passed away. Maybe only Loki could understand you and maybe only you could understand Loki but you weren’t sure you were ready to forgive him, even if a part of you had done it the moment you saw him sitting completely broken on the floor. Baby steps, you thought, you’d hopefully mend your relationship with baby steps.
“Hey, (Y/N)” you heard him mumble.
“Yes?”
“Thank you...” he said, when he didn't hear you reply he continued “for coming to comfort me, only you could bring a piece of heaven to a cell like this one.”
“That's what friends are for.” You said with a small smile and placed your hand on top of his.
