YES kamala being a mutant instead of an inhuman doesnt really matter. but my dumb ass started caring for that circus and MAYBE im a bit sad that marketing ploys and possible petty wars between ceos ended up with said circus getting trashed!!!! maybe i want these characters to get something GOOD for once and not get treated like dogshit in some fued to sell more x-men vs sell more inhumans!!!! maybe i just want the several years worth of tv shows, shows that got me into the mcu and comics, to have had SOME impact on the larger story!! at LEAST to be able to, i dont know, have ONE inhuman show up in the background of those giant battles that happens every once in a while?? maybe i just want those years of build up to,,, go somewhere and not just fade away in favor of "well, people like this more, so the other stuff doesn't matter anymore"??
or maybe its just funny that mr maximus boltagon has been stuck on the moon for like 8 years now and kevin fiege is desperately pretending he never existed in the first place!! i dont know what my feelings are im just upset an entire faction of characters are getting sidelined because a different one would make more money.
plus my brother predicted her being a mutant instead and he wont stop bragging about it so thanks for that too 😭
#like. inhumans have really good potential!#black bolt and maximus have very similar dynamics to thor and loki so like. THEY COULD BE GOOD.#the actors are good the characters are THERE its all possible if u just. get some actual writers and directors?? good ones????#plus its like. BOTH the x men and inhumans have been so ignored in favor of the avengers#that its just gonna be weird to have EITHER spontaneously show up now#like. where the fuck where they when thanos was about to DESTROY THE UNIVERSE.#everyone just busy or smth??? charles wasnt concerned about it???? NO mutanrs decided to help???#or is kamala older than all of them and we're gonna get teenage mutants with wildly different origins#like its not a mutant vs inhumans thing to me. its a 'continuing the years of inhumans makes more storytelling sense#than throwing mutants in now and trying to figure that out instead'#the entire show felt like a build up to future inhumans PLUS black bolt return in dsmom made me hopeful!!!#like!!! sue me!!! i thought it was being laid out for us 7 inhumans fans!!! yes im a bit upset!!!!#sorry i keep seeing all these posts arguing over it and its peeving me off#i KNOW its all meaningless shit that doesnt matter and theres barely a difference between mutants and inhumans anyways#but it matters to me and i LIKE THEM so im sad everyones getting screwed over bc two old men keep arguing over what makes the most money 😭#marvel#inhumans#ms marvel spoilers#GOD i talk so much. I CARE ABOUT THEM VERY STRONGLY....

Hela | What If
Love that What If s2 gave us a Hela that is:
- bold, witty (for sure the sis of Thor & Loki), willing to learn, adorable in traditional Chinese dress (汉 Hàn 服 if I'm not wrong- the Han's costume - the contrast & line delivery, damn), a polyglot (likely a studious daughter, not like we expect any less from her but still, screw Odin..), has a great sense of humour & charm
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- knows what's up, willing to sacrifice her crown ("Are you,Hela, the goddess of crowns?" "Give him Hell" 😭 like the one she was banished in) but still would immediately start a fight with her nemesis Raggy 😆
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't think it's necessarily Goddess of Death vs Goddess of Life here. She could very well still be the Goddess of Death, but only the death of the evil, having gained a new appreciation for life. These are just titles and we stan a versatile queen who can be whoever she wants to be.
More things I love in this:
Hela & Fenris 🥰, Cate Blanchett (her accent & voice 🤩, altho her mandarin voice is like a different person), Hela in 汉服 just hits home for me, she and her siblings getting along (pls marvel we need more, same goes to her facing off thanos)

Idea for a MonsterVerse x MCU x Transformers au
(Did you know that some Godzilla and Transformers comics were written by Marvel? Godzilla was even in the main Marvel comics)
Monarch is founded before Shield and are basically rival organizations that hate each other’s guts. Monarch deals with Titans, while Shield deals with everything else.
Kong: Skull Island takes place and Monarch begins Monitoring Kong.
In the 80’s, the Autobots and Decepticons wake up from their millions of years slumber. The Autobots find a young Sam Witwicky and team up with him, Shield takes notes of Sam and the Transformers and they recruit Sam into a new division of Shield dedicated to Transformers called NEST.
Captain Marvel happens.
The MCU films from Iron Man to Thor, Tony discovers stolen Monarch technology that his dad stole from Monarch, it contains information on Titans.
The events of Godzilla happen earlier during Fury’s big week. Now Fury has Godzilla on his radar.
The Transformers are very interested in Godzilla and the other Titans like Kong. The Autobots want them as allies. While the Decepticons want to control them to take over Earth.
The Avengers happens, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee join with the rest of the Avengers. Godzilla senses the power of the Tesseract and he heads towards New York to investigate. He helps the Avengers take out the Chitauri, and becomes an Avenger. He sticks around after the battle since Optimus and Captain America somehow convinced him to stay.
Years later, Ant-Man jokes that he could shrink down Godzilla.
In Age of Ultron, some Autobots are affected by Ultron and Ultron teams up with Megatron, so the Avengers and the Autobots fight Ultron together.
In Civil War, Transformers aren’t involved and don’t pick a side.
Vulture has combined Chitauri and Transformer tech, but Peter still stops him, he runs into Hot Rod along the way.
Infinity War happens and Godzilla rushes to Wakanda to fight Thanos. Hot Rod goes with Peter to space. Thanos still wins since he held Godzilla with the power stone. Many Transformers are dusted, but Optimus and Bumblebee survive. Hot Rod doesn’t, Godzilla and Kong aren’t dusted.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters happens one year after the snap, Tony tries to help Monarch with Godzilla.
Godzilla vs Kong happens before the Time Heist. Some Transformer parts are used in MechaGodzilla’s creation.
The Time Heist happens and in the final battle all the Autobots, Avengers, Godzilla, and Kong fight Thanos together and Tony snaps his fingers.
Every other movie happens and the Transformers help with displaced blipped people.
Godzilla x Kong happens and Ant-Man helps along with Wheeljack. Ant-Man helps Mothra calm down Godzilla and Scott fist bumps Kong. Scott helps defeat Skar King and shrinks him down after Shimo is freed from Skar King’s grasp. Kong crushes Skar King under his foot.

Thank you for the tag @haeva 🥺
Last song: If I ever by Conor Maynard
Currently watching: last thing I watched was S1 of Emily in Paris and I'm currently reading 'the secret'.
3 ships: I got 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like I've said, Tyler x Nik is just my personal interpretation because I mean they're taking bullets for each other???? But I'd be okay if canon doesn't go there. But if Thor doesn't get to have babies with Jane, it's on sight for Marvel.
Favourite colour: black and red
Currently consuming: nothing atm
First ship: I shipped Alexis and Starscream from Transformers Armada back in the day because I thought that was what the show was going for. And I was like 'wow interspecies romance' (foundation for ThorJane lol). and Musa x Riven from Winx Club (don't look at me!)
Relationship status: don't want any more trauma.
Last movie: May December 3 months ago
Currently working on: You'd think after writing a 10k word essay on how my man is wronged by Marvel, I'd calm down. But uhhh I have ideas that haunt me for 7 more essays: 1. In defense of Thor's characterization in Thor2 2. How to make the audience sympathize with a character: Wanda vs Thor 3. Why Thor4's ending with the child sucks 4. Thor3 didn't manage the tone well either 5. Korg - the worst supporting character 6. The tragedy of being a Thor fan (fandom experience) 7. The brutality toward Thor (by his storytellers)
And some fanfics: 1. missing scene after Thor4 ship kiss where they actually do it because f you marvel they deserved moments of love w each other and not die celibate like you. 2. post Thor4 dream sequence where he begs her to come back to him. 3. their experiences after separating (him finding out she got wiped out by thanos, knowing she was brought back to life, and a scene w mantis right before Thor4 parallel w Jane finding out she has c*ncer). 4. tyler ovi reunion fic where tyler runs into ovi unexpectedly and they get to be father-son for a night.
No pressure tags: @notallthosewho-wanderarelost @fostertheory @m1ghtythor @karioke13 @uniiiquehecrt @coolnerdyrn

🌟 for The Horizon Line
Oooh, let's do one of the Endgame prologue flashbacks from Chapter 6! Mostly because this is a scene I really like and it's not one that people tend to comment on.
Then
This is one of the chapters that has an alternating "then-now" structure, and it's the first of two (the other one is 16) to flip very quickly. This is the second of three flashback sequences in Horizon that come directly out of the Endgame prologue (a.k.a. the 2018 part of Endgame, not the 2023 part). I do a fair amount of rewriting canon scenes; it's always an interesting experience. I get to know that scene really well and I tend to find out how difficult it is to translate between mediums.
“Oh no,” Rocket said.
Steve stared down at the gauntlet with his expression gone completely blank – not even horror, just a kind of flat incomprehension that any of this was happening. Natasha heard the faint sound she made only after she had made it, a faint stunned gasp like a wounded animal, and even then was wondering who it had come from before she felt the ache in her own throat.
Steve's behavior in this scene and throughout Endgame is really interesting, because especially in the 2018 scenes he's very blank. And Chris Evans is generally pretty expression (so much of Steve's excellent Avengers characterization is carried out through microexpressions rather than what Steve's actually saying), so his blankness in this sequence is interesting. One of the things I have to do when I'm rewriting a canon sequence is basically add in the character interpretation that may or may not be there onscreen.
The Infinity Stones weren’t there. Nothing was there, just empty, blackened hollows where Natasha still remembered the Stones gleaming the last time she had seen Thanos, energy running in multi-colored rivulets up his arm before he had snapped his fingers.
“Where are they?” Steve said, his voice so toneless that it was nearly a statement
The only response was a low groan, until Carol tightened her grip on Thanos’s throat and hissed, “Answer the question.”
“The universe required correction,” Thanos said, his voice coming out in harsh gasps of pain. “After that, the Stones served no purpose beyond temptation.”
“You murdered trillions!” Bruce said, and shoved him with both hands. The Hulkbuster’s strength threw him backwards, making Carol lose her grip and knocking Rhodey out of the way.
Thanos pushed himself up onto his remaining elbow and said, “You should be grateful.”
This sequence is directly out of canon, dialogue and action. Also Thanos's dialogue is a nightmare to write, especially pulling it straight from canon -- I noticed this when I was writing the Thor flashbacks in Morning too. He doesn't have a very natural cadence, and it makes hard to put into prose vs. onscreen.
Bruce lunged for him again, but Loki’s hand closed on his wrist, his heels digging divots into the floor as Bruce strained against him; the Hulkbuster might be able to beat the crap out of the Hulk, but apparently couldn’t move an Asgardian who had decided not to be moved. Loki released Bruce a moment later and put the blade of his polearm under Thanos’s chin. “Be careful,” he said softly, “not to speak of gratitude again.”
The scene diverges here with Loki's involvement. In canon Bruce keeps beating up Thanos until Natasha asks about the Stones.
Note that the Hulkbuster is not at the Hulk's strength, at least going up against an Asgardian.
Natasha walked around Bruce’s massive form so that she could see Thanos, resisting the urge to start screaming and not stop, but there was an unfamiliar tremor in her voice as she forced herself to say, “Where are the Stones?”
Pulling character interpretations from what's onscreen again; Nat's less blank than Steve is. She's also trembling in that scene, which is a detail I like.
“Gone,” Thanos said. From his expression, he had no idea who she was. “Reduced to atoms.”
Does Thanos actually know who Natasha is? Open question, never confirmed one way or another by canon; canon really only identifies that he knows who Tony is and not any of the other Avengers.
“You used them two days ago!” Bruce said.
“I used the Stones to destroy the Stones,” Thanos said, and gestured at the damaged gauntlet, ignoring the way the razor-sharp blade of Loki’s polearm opened a thin line on the underside of his chin. “It nearly killed me, but the work is done. It always will be. I am –”
“If you say ‘inevitable,’ I will cleave your head from your body,” Loki said.
Canon divergence: in canon Thanos finishes his line, here Loki interrupts him.
“We have to tear this place apart,” Rhodey said, his voice shaking. “He has to be lying –”
“My father is many things,” Nebula said. “A liar is not one of them.” She flicked a look at Loki anyway, as if asking for confirmation, and he gave her the tiniest headshake in response. God of lies, Natasha remembered, very distantly; maybe it meant something other than just another title. It didn’t seem very important right now.
Loki and Nebula have an interesting relationship and this hints at some of the places it's been in the past. Loki, walking lie detector.
Thanos looked from one of them to the other, as if seeing Loki for the first time, and made an expression that wasn’t quite a smile. “My daughter,” he said to Nebula, and then, to Loki, “My son.”
Divergence. In canon he says, "Ah. Thank you, daughter. Perhaps I treated you too harshly." Thor kills Thanos immediately after his addresses Nebula in canon.
“My parents were Odin and Frigga of Asgard,” Loki said, soft and dangerous. “I’d think you’d remember it, since a son of Odin was what you decided you wanted more than another child of yours.”
Loki, who just lost his entire family, is having none of this. I don't think all of Loki's backstory with Thanos has come out in any of my Yonderverse writing, but it is revealed in Morning, and I use the same backstory between universes. Loki started as part of the Black Order, one of the Children of Thanos, during a period of time when he wasn't using his own name (Nebula uses his Black Order name in the Horizon 3 flashback), but when Thanos found out that he was Odin's son he decided Loki was more useful as a way to get into the Nine Realms to get the Tesseract (with the later intention of getting the Reality Stone).
This time Thanos’s expression was definitely a smile. “And where did it bring you? Back to me.”
This line is from 2014 Thanos in Endgame, not 2023 Thanos. 2014 Thanos uses it in Yonder 4, too. (I do think Thanos's dialogue is pretty overwrought, but sometimes it works.)
“To kill you,” Loki said bluntly. “I don’t care about the Stones. I don’t have anyone to bring back. You made certain of that before the culling.”
Loki straight-up is just here for the murder because as far as he knows all of Asgard is dead. As is revealed later on in the scene, he has no way of knowing that any of the Asgardians made it off the Statesman and has been operating on the assumption they didn't. He also doesn't really care about the Snap at all because he doesn't have anyone left to lose.
“Wait – wait, Loki, hang on –” Bruce said hastily. “You don’t know that he’s not lying, the Stones have to be here –”
“No,” Nebula said. “All my life, my father has only ever wanted one thing, and having achieved it –”
“They are beyond the reach of any living thing,” Thanos said. “As they should be. The work is done,” he repeated. “And it cannot be undone.”
This is added dialogue for this scene and isn't from the original canon scene, since Thanos is dead by this point in the canonical scene.
“Loki, get out of the way,” Steve said abruptly.
They all turned to look at him, startled; even Loki’s gaze flickered away from Thanos for an instant. Steve stripped his shields off and dropped them to the floor with a clatter as he took a step forwards, his fists clenched.
This is actually my favorite part of this sequence -- Steve planning to beat Thanos to death with his bare hands. I give Steve a lot more sharp edges than I think most writers do and I am here for his violent tendencies, which are pretty consistent throughout the MCU; it's really just Endgame where it's not there, because he's so muted throughout the film. (I read Endgame!Steve as being very, very depressed, though functional, which I think I've talked about somewhere.) It was important to me that it was his bare hands too, which is why he takes off the Wakandan shields for it.
Loki raised his free hand, green-gold glimmering on his fingertips. “No,” he said. “Your right to vengeance is not greater than mine.”
Loki about to get into it with Steve over who has a better right to beat Thanos to death.
“You should be grateful to me, Asgardian,” Thanos said. “Is this not what you wanted? Is kingship not what you claimed when the Chitauri’s claws were at your throat? The rightful king of Asgard, king once more?”
Hints of Loki's backstory with Thanos and the Chitauri here, touching on whatever happened immediately prior to The Avengers and calling back to Loki's conversations with The Other there.
Loki looked back at him and put his head a little to the side, his teeth showing like a wolf’s. “You murdered my brother,” he said. “You slaughtered my people. You scoured Asgard root and stem from the branches of the World Tree and you speak to me of kingship? King of ashes and atoms, shattered bone and spilled blood, spread out across the stars where you hunted us? I would kill you for Thor alone, but the blood-debt you owe my people can never be paid in full.”
"Ashes and atoms" is a callback to what Loki says during the coronation sequence in Chapter 1: "Asgard is ashes and atoms."
“I took only what I was owed,” Thanos said. “You should never have tried to keep the Tesseract from me.”
“I owed you nothing then and I owe you nothing now,” Loki said, “save a death that will be far quicker than those you gave my brother and my people. And when I’m done, may the spirits of all Asgard stand forth to rip you to shreds on your passage through the great void of Ginnungagap.”
Yonderverse Loki gets very formal and traditional about Asgard in a way that most of my other Lokis don't, because his whole thing is that there was literally nothing left, and he has to be all of Asgard and the Asgardian royal family. Without him the Asgardians likely wouldn't have survived as Asgardians and he's extremely cognizant of that in a way that Thor isn't in the main line canon -- probably because Thor has never really had to think very hard about his own identity and what's important to him as an Asgardian, and Loki has. Thor doesn't have to decide whether or not to be an Asgardian and Loki does.
"I owed you nothing then and I owe you nothing now" is an echo of something Loki says to Proxima Midnight in Yonder 5: "I owe the Chitauri nothing and I owe you less."
“‘All’ Asgard?” Thanos echoed him, and smiled, the scarring on the left side of his face making the expression even more dreadful than it might have been normally. “I destroyed only those who came between me and what was rightfully mine. I am not unkind, my son. Those that fled rather than fight a losing battle, I allowed to escape.”
Until now Loki didn't know that the other Asgardians had survived. Endgame never addresses how Thor finds out or what his reaction is, but it's pretty vital for how Yonderverse Loki is, so it has to be on the page.
Loki’s eyes went huge.
“Oh, god, they’re alive,” Bruce said, sounding stunned. “Oh, god – the Asgardians in the escape pods – the Valkyrie and all the others, all the kids –”
Bruce didn't know either, of course -- remember that he was on the Statesman too.
Loki dropped his polearm and lunged forward, twisting his fists in the front of the Titan’s shirt. “Where are they?” he shouted. “Where are my people?”
First sign that Loki might have something to live for other than vengeance because at this point he really didn't believe that he did.
This sequence is interspersed with the Atlanta operation in the present day -- the last operation the Avengers did as a team and the first operation they're doing as a team post-Snap. I actually do write these as they appear in the chapter, which is to say that I alternate between writing the flashback sequence and the present-day sequence, rather than writing all of one and all of the other and then stitching them together. For me, this makes the transitions between past and present really snappy and lets them flow thematically from one to the other -- the next scene after this is Natasha going after what she believes is Clint (Sir Not Appearing In This Story), and reveal of the Hulk-Widow that closes out that scene leads directly into Loki's shock about the surviving Asgardians that opens the next.
One thing I struggle with in rewrites of canon scenes is that very often the ones I'm rewriting are big multi-character scenes where a lot of the characters are simply not doing anything most of the time and this is one of them. Despite being a Natasha POV scene, she really doesn't have any input past the opening, which does stand out to me on reread. She's also not doing anything in the canon scene. (And I'd bet there's a high chance that when they filmed the scene, all of the actors were not there and it's just stitched together because Endgame did a lot of that.) It's one of those places where I can either add in the character having more interaction in that scene, which I do back in the Chapter 3 flashback with Tony's arrival, because Natasha doesn't say anything in that scene in Endgame but does have dialogue in my version or just live with it and hope it doesn't show too much.

17.?
17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?
Tw for child abuse
When Loki is a teen like 14/15, Laufey is called in for a peace conference that SOMEHOW ended up happening, not entirely sure. Over the course of this, Laufey learns that Loki is his son and is none to happy. Because as he recalls, his late wife had been hiding with their newborn son in the temple for protection, ergo: Fárbauti was almost certainly murdered and Loki kidnapped.
During the course of the conference, Laufey notices that Loki is clearly being abused by Odin and neglected by Frigga despite her best efforts (she is very busy) and Thor is no better off, but less obvious about it. The incident with Sif's hair happens and Loki gets his lips sewn shut in front of the peace conference and Laufey has just sort of had it. He then gets up and starts shouting about how Loki has been kidnapped and Odin is a horrible person, etc, etc just the beat down he deserved but never got. Odin is taken into custody and Frigga is declared regent.
Laufey takes custody of Loki and does NOT return to Jotunheim, instead the peace conference (or maybe a conference about what to do regarding Thanos?? Idk. Either peace conference or they're prepping for a fight) keeps Laufey in Asgard. Asgard is very unhappy about this, despite the fact that they sort of hate Loki, and Loki is horrified and struggling to come to terms with everything, but Laufey is a decent parent and actually helps him.
Cue lots of Laufey and Loki bonding broken by Asgard being butts but LEARNING TO BE BETTER and Laufey co-parenting Thor.
The story ends when the threat is eliminated or the conference is over. Thor and Loki are still friends and siblings at the end of this. It is extremely important to me that Loki does not abandon his brother for his new family because that always happens in Jotunheim fics and I hate it.
+Laufey being able to grow/shrink with magic because I personally find the hassle of dealing with a giant vs tiny small vulnerable child kinda frustrating. Loki needs a proper hug. ergo: grow/shrink magic.
+Thor getting hit by Odin for something pretty menial and Laufey temporarily considering adopting him, too (I just need thor to have a good father, okay? please.)
+Laufey not having his other kids on Asgard, so he can focus his entire attention on Loki
+Heimdall being some weird uncle-ish figure
+Loki's heritage being like on the bottom of the list of things they need to deal with, the longstanding emotional abuse/manipulation being the priority.
+Asgard throwing a brick through the window of where Laufey and Loki are staying early on with a threat and Loki freaking out about it.
+Oh! this one would actually be really fun to play around with the idea that Loki and Thor were raised as twins
Idk. I just really like the fics where abused child gets adopted by a competent adult and they work on things together, but it would be like. Loki's actual dad. +Thor gets a bonus dad. (please let him have a hug too*) It's a win for everyone.
I do not want to write this because it sounds extensive and exhausting. I would love to read it. I would sell my soul to read this, but I could not drag this highly detailed AU out of my brain under gun threat. I have thought about this extensively for probably three years, but as you can see. I have not written anything. Idk. Maybe someday I can wrestle something out.
that said, if anyone feels the desire to write this out, feel free. And please let me know because I will LITERALLY BETA THIS AND READ THIS AND COMMENT AND PLEASE.
----
*i have read fics where Loki gets rescued from the abusive environment, but not any where the competent adults realize Loki and Thor need to be pulled from Odin's custody. Thor is nto okay. thor is not okay. Thor is not okay. thor is not okay

Reacting to Contemporary Comics (Without Context) 13/?
Tumblr media
I've been working on this for six weeks. I'm sorry, homework and TWO ISSUES OF IMMORTAL THOR sidetracked me. Getting this post hammered out before the next issue of Immortal Thor comes out tomorrow.
I don't know what the fuck this is. I think it might be an anthology? We're joined by modern Thor genius writer, Jason Aaron, creator of the story with The Best Panel Ever in Comic History; and Walter Simonson, of nude!Loki bait fame, and several authors whom I don't recognize.
Spoilers for The Mighty Thor #700 (2017) and likely others.
This is feeling vaguely IT 5-ish
Thori! My good boy!
Thor wants to murder Yggdrasil. I love Thori.
Am I crying about mundane panels again? Possibly. In my defense I lost my dog recently.
Fuck I forgot he lost his arm!
Thori and the goat (idk which one it is) just following him is so great
"Man?" You recruited just random dudes, Malekith? What's Joe from Accounting gonna do? Did Doom have the afternoon off and owed you a favor?
Jane vs She-Hulk?! Why is She-Hulk so hot in this? Did this come out before Ragnarok? It must have, right? Ragnarok came out October 2017. Wait, no, it says December 2017.
WHOA, doc/nurse/whoever you are! HIPAA! I know Jane is technically a doctor, but she's here as a patient right now. Don't give her Jennifer's entire backstory.
Volstagg was Thor once?!
LOKI!!!
Loki why are you dressed like that? Where is your sense of style, you queer little twink?
THOR YOU DID NOT NAME THESE NEW HUMANS JANE AND STEVE WTF
There's my boi! Took you fucking long enough, dude
Yeah, because he's the God of Stories! Give him a fucking minute to try before you erase everything he's written! God.
Also can we stop drawing him so gross?!
Okay but I might change the name of my Loki playlist from Disaster Spouse to Little Prince of Jackasses lol
Why is Throg's name Simon Walterson... one of the prolific Thor writers is Walter Simonson... this is a multi-level spoof [I'm thinking he probably created the character, actually, but I'm not in the mood to fact check that atm]
Okay, when is Loki's thread of the narrative? Because that was... still in character, but he seems too cold about it for when I thought this was. Ugh, this is what happens when you let anyone other than Al Ewing write Loki.
NO! What the fuck? Talk about a NoTP! Hela and Thanos? Thanos needs to die alone and unloved. And Hela's married to Karnilla. >:(

Yondu's death and how it was handled in the following gotg projects is the main reason I think how Gamora's been treated is unforgivable. A funeral and two other follow ups to your death/to honor your importance vs "you're not dead, you just can't remember". It would take 2 minutes tops to have Mantis, Drax and Rocket say 2 sentences to eachother about missing Gamora. They don't even had to shed tears if that would be too much. Drax already hated Thanos for killing his family once before. Where was his anger.
vol 3 reduced Gamora from a fully realized character who was an equal partner in the story and interacted with the others and guided them, to mainly someone only Peter really knew. Carrying over her relationship with Nebula from Endgame is the only saving grace. Worse is that Peter talking about it is the only time the canon gives Gamora credit for being essential to the family's origins and by extension the franchise.
Also it makes me really sad that Zoe has probably given the best performance of the bunch throughout her entire mcu run and because Gamora's arc is such a mess it completely overshadows that by the time you get finished vol 3. In fact, imo, vol 3 was fire performance wise for but hits rock bottom plot and arc wise. Without her death or if they had ressurected her, I think she easily would have had one of the best arcs in the mcu.
yeah, when i was comparing the treatment gamora's death to nat's that was already Oof but now comparing with yondu is just...OOOOOFFFFFF. it's just sad seeing the characters not get a chance to rly express their grief for her ever :'( and i think only rly exploring peter's grief makes it seem like gamora rly just existed to be his gf, which i know is a whole nother can of worms of discourse happening in starmora land rn (and given all the circumstances in the film, i honestly think the way starmora as a relationship was handled was pretty solid)
tho we had the holiday special (and i did enjoy it!), i kinda wish we'd had some other gotg project (love & thunder doesn't count since they were just there for 2 secs to support thor LOL) between endgame and vol 3 to actually explore the fallout from iw/endgame a lot more, not just for the gamora situation, but, like, everyone else too. like i mentioned earlier, i think there's a gaping hole in rocket's arc (and nebula's but to a lesser extent) given where his arc left off in vol 2, then the 4 years that passed offscreen between that and iw, and then the 5 years that passed offscreen during endgame, and then ANOTHER 2 years passed offscreen between endgame and the holiday special/vol 3 (i think). i'd imagine losing all of the gotg would've affected rocket a LOT (like remember when he literally shot gamora so she wouldn't risk her life to save peter like lol) and then when they returned, surely that would shift the way he approached his relationships with them
similarly with nebula, i'm assuming she only stuck around with the gotg bc after endgame bc she'd become rocket's bestie for the restie (which i love) and also idk helped the avengers defeat thanos (? idk it also seems like the gotg were just kinda absorbed into the avengers for those 5 years and then became separate again after endgame, which would've been cool to establish more explicitly in canon) but given how uninterested she was in hanging around the gotg at both the end of vol 1 and vol 2, i think we needed to see more of how she went from that to practically being a de facto leader of sorts for the team in the beginning of vol 3
like i said before, i do think much of vol 3 was still very much firing on all cylinders, including the performances, but some of these holes in the arcs were still hard to look past. i know gunn said he wanted the film to be something you could watch on its own without all the context of the previous gotg films/iw/endgame (which makes me wonder how much that informed the way he approached things like the gamora situation) but i think including more story elements and references to past works that would've made vol 3 more dependent on the previous gotg appearances would've fixed quite a few of these problems

Your thoughts about Billy made me so emotional. I agree 100%. I've seen people say that Billy was written to be racist and irredeemable and therefore he is irredeemable and anyone who sees or writes him otherwise is fundamentally wrong and must agree with all the wrongs he's done.
But writers' intent is only the beginning. When a character comes to life, they grow beyond what's just on the page. We're shown that Billy is capable of growth. We're just only given seconds to see that.
When people say he's not capable of redemption, I feel like they're saying all the people who saw some part of themselves in him also aren't capable of positive change.
Your nature vs nurture nearly made me cry.
As someone who's been part of fandoms with very intense villains, I have to say, it is BAFFLING to me to be part of ST and have the child antagonist be treated so badly while almost every other villain in all the other fandoms is almost treated...neutral... or even obsessed over in a "lets do everything to redeem him" sort of way.
For example? Loki. Loki is a full blown villain who ALSO came from a shitty childhood and iffy family life, who acted out in terrible ways and in the Thor movies was 110% ready to commit genocide just for his father's approval. In the Avengers (2012) movie it's pretty well accepted that he was actually being mind controlled but he didn't do a single redeeming thing even after Thor broke him out of the mind control, instead he said "it's too late" and watched the destruction unfold.
BUT we love Loki. I LOVE loki. I've written hundreds of thousands of words about him. He's petty and selfish and always looks out for number 1 until literally the last second in Ragnarok and IW but ever since Thor 1, people have been trying to redeem him.
So. Mass murdering genocidal god figure with dreams of glory and no problem manipulating everyone around him for his own sake, directly caused the death of his mom, sort of directly caused the death of his dad, stole the tessaract again and brought Thanos to the ship which directly caused the death of most of the asgardians and kick started the next wave of Thanos sponsored terror-- 100% redeemable.
But a kid who goes through on screen abuse, is on screen preyed on by grown women, is on screen told that the actions of his step sister are directly his responsibility (with the off screen implication that he'd be punished for her issues) is on screen possessed and forced to do awful things, on screen screaming crying begging for help, on screen apologizing and sacrificing himself for a little girl he honestly doesn't even know-- 100% a lost cause.
The math ain't mathing.
And the racism thing-- I've seen so many people "well he's racist" as if that makes him a terrible person all the way around. But here's the thing.
I'm a WOC who was adopted into an all white, law enforcement heavy family. I experienced racism every damn day of my life, in microaggressions from other family members, in more blatant shows from the church and school I went to where I was one of maybe three non white kids in my highschool, in "jokes" about how they coudln't see me if I was sitting in a dark room, I got told "stop acting so black" every time I got angry and "why do you act so white" when they thought I was being a snob, if I raised my voice I sounded "ghetto" if I wore Black-marketed labels (like... Baby Phat??) I was dressing "trashy" I wanted braids in my hair and was told "just brush your hair so it won't be nappy"
I am a WOC and heard that shit my entire life and when I moved out at 18, it took me AGES to uncover and recognize and REMOVE those harmful thoughts from my process.
I didn't think those things by myself, I was told them constantly in a thousand different ways, my entire life. Racism is LEARNED. Racism is TAUGHT.
We see ON SCREEN Neil pushing Billy around and forcing him to parrot back words/phrases that Neil demands he says and believes. We see ON SCREEN Billy telling Max that "you learn" to stay away from some people.
Who do you think taught Billy to LEARN that POC weren't the sort of people to be around? And how do you think that lesson was enforced?
I'm rambling again (big personal thoughts about billy ughhhhh) but my point is--
Treating Billy like he's irredeemable at literally barely 18 is ridiculous not just because of the clear double standard for way worse villains in the same show (brenner literally tortured children for science!) but because everything Awful about Billy is clearly shown to be a direct result of his Dad.
And the side of the fandom that boils it down to "well he's racist!" shows an actually astounding lack of social awareness, media literacy and any sort of maturity and understanding about just how damaging it can be to grow up in that ^^ sort of circumstance.

What does a Composite Ryu look like?
Tumblr media
The Death Battle Tournament of Champions has Ryu Vs Goku as one of the choices. It lost to Sailor Moon Vs Madoka Kaname, but it was a close one. But everyone knows Goku beats Ryu, right? That is correct... If we’re talking about straight canon. But this is Composite Ryu Vs Composite Goku. So what does this give Ryu?
Tumblr media
Straight Scaling...
As seen with Akuma Vs Shao Khan, Ryu can scale to Akuma. That means he is an Apocalyptic Level Threat who has the potential to wipe out all life on Earth. Still not as strong as Goku, but it is a start...
Tumblr media
Non-Canon Stuff...
So in the comics, Ryu has access to a form that allows him to use both the Satsui No Hado and the Power of Nothingness. So he is twice as powerful than Akuma at his best.
Tumblr media
Direct Crossover Scaling...
Now here’s where things get real. Ryu fought evenly with Darkstalkers like Jon Tailbain, who can fight people who fight robots who can move hundreds of millions of light years in a short amount of time. He fought evenly with Asura from Asura’s Wrath, who the Vs wiki states at his highest level is Multi-Galaxy. And he even got that Akuma Scaling to ensure he matches all the way. Not to mention King of Fighters and Tekken Scaling. And who knows what Tatsunoko’s roster of fighters bring to the table.
But the real butter comes from the Marvel Vs Series. Able to face Magneto, Dr. Strange, Ghost Rider, Thor, Dormammu, Mephisto (as a recolor of Blackheart) and Shuma-Gorath. A skilled player can solo the end bosses like Apocalypse, Onslaught and FRIKKIN GALACTUS! But I think the real game changer is Thanos wanting the Satsui No Hado over the INFINITY GEMS! You know, the Stones that can control Reality, Power, Time, Space and all that. Thanos had one of them in his hands, got the Satsui No Hado, and threw it away.
The Marvel Universe is a Trillion Light Years in radius, and that’s ignoring the multiple infinite size comments. And the Infinity Gems were able to protect the universe from another universe colliding in it. So Ryu is packing a lot of power especially since the Satsui No Hado scales to the Power of Nothingness. And that’s with the Direct Crossovers...
Tumblr media
Appearance Crossover Scaling...
Smash Brothers, Project X Zone, Family Guy and American Dad, Ryu has been in the most crossovers out of anyone in the Street Fighter universe. He can scale to Guilty Gear, the WWE (with direct links to the Undertaker), Pokemon Deities that are responsible for creating their multiverse, the Power Rangers and pretty much everyone in Fortnite... Which includes Goku. So anything Goku can scale to Ryu can via scaling to him. Granted, this also means vice versa but it shows just how close a Composite Ryu brings into this thing.
Tumblr media
But is it enough to beat a Composite Goku? Ignoring Fortnite, maybe? It really depends on what Goku’s crossovers bring. This isn’t just Xenoverse, this would include his numerous crossovers with other anime characters via the Jump Series. But since this match didn’t win, it is not guaranteed to happen. But maybe it could happen...

Was there any point thanos saw himself as a god? (Going by Loki's last words)
I think so, yes. Thanos had a huge messianic complex derived from the time he was exiled from Titan. For someone who believes he's always right, that must have been quite hurtful, and since everyone on the planet died and he couldn't get his vengeance by killing them, he went around the universe murdering half of all life.
In order to do that you gotta believe you're something else and better than everyone, he literally says he's "the only one" who knows how the universe works and then tells Gamora he had "ignored his destiny once". He's convinced doing this is part of his calling, like he's the chosen one. As to why he deludes himself into thinking he's doing something good instead of being honest and saying he enjoys the suffering... dunno, perhaps it's due to his twisted belief that he did in fact try and help Titan with his suggestion. Admitting his actions are evil now would probably prove they were wrong then.
I don't know if he would have called himself a god or not, but he certainly acted like one. The way I see it, Loki said that as one last act of defiance as he refused to die 'nicely' and so he went straight to the jugular, to the very core of what drives Thanos, to tell him "use the stones, kill all you want, but you'll never be what you think you are = you don't know better than everyone else = the Titans were right".
Add to that a bit of gods vs titans nods there and it only gets better. This is why I hated how EG had Thor just kill him off at the beginning, that Thanos died believing what he had done was final. I would have preferred if they had kept him alive and right when Bruce uses the gauntlet to bring everyone back they also took Thanos back to Earth and showed him he had failed. It would have been cathartic to see that.

Have an outline for a fic I may never write:
some background: the year is 2012, and everything is Avengers. People still write these (❤️ u), but it's the golden age of avengers tower fics. Everyone is friends in messy dramatic ways, overpowered oc's abound and it's fabulous.
This is also the golden age of Loki drama. It started with Thor, but ramped up with Avengers. The discourse was usually "Loki is entirely Evil mcEvil" vs "Loki is my perfect shmoopy-poo, and Thor is a Murderous Meanie"
I'd settled (& found others too) on "Loki DEFINITELY killed people but he was also obviously under duress." I'd recently read some early Diana Wynn Jones (Dogsbody and Eight Days of Luke), I was listening to a lot of Florence and the Machine (Heartlines) and somehow all of that blended to create...this tropey monstrosity. I just didn't have the skill to sit down and bang it out, and I still don't really
(tw for...well Loki's mental state at the end of Thor did not exactly get better by Avengers.)
This is part one|
We start out directly after Avengers, with Thor bringing Loki home to Asgard to face judgement.
Imagine Loki, before the dias in the throne room of the palace of Asgard. It's fall, there is an occasional chill breeze.
Odin, Frigga, and Thor are on the dias above him. The rest of the court behind him. Loki himself in chains.
Odin has described the charges against Loki, and has asked, each time, if Loki had anything to say.
Each time, Loki has remained silent.
He has nothing to say for himself. He's not sorry for trying to conquer Earth. Thanos is coming for them all, and they don't deserve a warning.
In the jumble of grief over losing the approval of the man he once called his father (if he ever had it in the first place), his madness inducing fall through multidimensional space, capture and manipulation by Thanos, and use of an infinity stone, his "crimes" are small potatoes to him. He can't muster the energy to care.
Finally, Odin asks if there is anyone willing to speak in Loki's defense, or on his behalf in regards to his character or extenuating circumstances.
Thor, grief stricken and angry, looks away.
But from the crowd, someone does volunteer: Baldur. Not the wet blanket of the comics, but the closest thing Asgard has to a real lawyer, and someone who grew up with Loki. They have similar fighting styles, and spent a lot of time together as kids.
We get an inside look at Loki's head and discover that this (for reasons that will be revealed later) is, in Loki's opinion, the WORST turn of events. Loki despises Baldur. Baldur obviously does not share Loki's antipathy, and Loki hates him even more because he should.
Despite Loki being uncooperative, Baldur and Frigga argue for leniency.
The closest Loki comes to breaking his silence is when Frigga kneels before Odin to beg for her son's life.
It's granted. Loki is free within the realm of Asgard, but his magic is dampened by what's basically a magic handcuff.
And, because he refused to speak at his trial, he is forbidden by magic to speak within the realm of Asgard.
After this opening, we get into Loki's new life. He's shiftless, depressed, and doesn't want to be here.
He stays in his rooms for the most part. Frigga visits. Thor does not.
Eventually Loki's habits of wanting to get into everything slowly resurface. He's persona non grata in the court. People don't trust him, and mostly ignore him. The exception is Hodur, Baldur's brother, who really does hate Loki, and makes Loki's life miserable whenever possible.
It's not like Loki can say anything.
There is some recovery as Loki goes back to something he used to do as a boy --helping in the stables.
It's hard work that he's no longer used to. And the enchantments binding his words and his magic are affecting his health: he gets dizzy sometimes. A tremor in his hands.
It is a reason to haul himself out of bed at the same time every day.
It is a long winter caring for the horses. One of the mares has a difficult pregnancy, but under Loki's care, Ashes and Ember are born healthy, and spring comes.
Slowly, in small ways, Loki and the Warriors Three make amends, mostly through visits to the stables.
Loki and Thor's old friend and tutor Amora the Enchantress visits. She asks some very interesting questions about Loki's magic handcuffs. Namely, WTF --they are, apparently, pretty overkill --but also, eventually, about Loki's health.
Loki hasn't put much thought into it because his mental health has improved tremendously by not being in Thanos' direct thrall + regular work + a dose of silence being good medicine, but over spring, as people who were once prince Loki's friends become familiar with Loki the very good groom, it gets confirmed: he looks like shit. Is he sick?
It's not the handcuffs --they're only designed to suppress the wearer's magic. He could probably still shape-shift, Amora explains, but that wouldn't affect the cuffs.
Loki gives her a look. He never could shape-shift anyway.
Shape-shifting requires you to pass through your true shape each time, Amora explains. Loki the Asgardian can't shape shift. He already is shapeshifted. Loki the Jotunn could.
Loki's not too keen on this, to put it mildly. His head may be clearer but he still harbors a deep self hatred for being Jotunn. He was raised Asgardian, and the Aesir consider the Jotunn lesser at best, savage monsters at worst. Every day Loki lives he lives a lie, and it's not one of his choosing.
The symptoms Loki displays look more like...well they look like a blood curse of some kind, but that can't be right because if it's a blood curse it's older than Loki is and...blocked somehow, as if someone else is suffering part of it, or part of it has already been fulfilled.
Meanwhile, Thor is sick with guilt over having turned away from Loki --symbolically giving up on him during the trial. Especially now that he sees, from a distance, Loki's progress.
It drives home once again how thoughtless and self centered Thor has been over the ages, that it was Thor himself who was, directly and indirectly, telling Loki that his only value came from being prince and heir, that Loki the person wasn’t worth anything. So that when Loki realized he would inherit nothing and that he wasn't a prince of Asgard he lost his sense of self, and started scrabbling for things to make him worthy...much like Thor himself had
Sometime in this time, Thor finally puts together something that he noticed but didn't comprehend during Loki's trial: Baldur carries Mistilteinn.
When Mjolnir was made, a companion weapon was made for Loki: Mistilteinn, a dagger as well suited for Loki as Mjolnir was for Thor. Only Thor received a ceremony, but he'd never really noticed that Loki didn't carry the princely weapon he deserved. How did Baldur have it?
When Thor goes to find out, he catches Hodur harassing Loki. It's escalated, and Thor intervenes, bodily dragging Loki to the healers afterwards.
Why didn't he say anything? Thor wants to know.
Loki only gives him an ironic look. It's not like Loki could have. It's not like Thor would have cared.
Thor does. At one time it was Loki who rejected Thor. But what recent evidence does Loki have that Thor wouldn't reject him?
This is also where Thor realizes that Loki was acting under threat of torture just as much as willingly conquering Earth. Those burn marks weren't there before.
The story of Mistilteinn is this: the drinking at the ceremony celebrating Thor as crown prince got a little out of hand. Loki, pleased for Thor but still struggling with resentment and the blow at being...pretty much ignored even though part of the royal family, had reacted badly when his childhood companion Baldur had thought to console him.
Baldur asked for Mistilteinn, the weapon that had almost killed him, instead of publicly humiliating his friend, and never revealed what happened except to Odin and to his brother, who found him injured, alone, with Loki nowhere to be found. Loki took this as in deference to Thor's special day, and deeply resented it. Hodur held a grudge for Loki almost killing his brother.
Loki has a vision and comes to realize that Thanos can and probably will track him down for his failures, realizes that he does in fact care if Asgard gets flattened, shapeshifts into his Jotunn form and leaves Asgard for Jotunheim.
Loki reveals that the spell keeping him silent has worn off by whispering a goodbye before he slips through a gate in the world-tree's branches
Baldur reveals that he enchanted Mistilteinn in much the same way Mjolnir was: if Loki should voluntary bear the consequences of harm that he caused another and make amends, the dagger will return to it's rightful owner.
