Bilbo Baggins x Fem! Reader
“Life without parole.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The dwarves sat around the living room, glasses of ale in hand, listening to Bilbo and Y/N reminisce about their wedding day.
"It wasn't much of a wedding," Y/N admitted with a chuckle. "We just went down to the courthouse on a Thursday and got it done."
The dwarves exchanged surprised glances. "No grand ceremony?" Thorin asked, incredulous.
Bilbo shook his head. "Nope, just a small gathering of family and friends. And by family, I mean Frodo and by friends, I mean Gandalf."
The dwarves laughed, imagining the scene. "And what did the judge say?" Bofur asked.
Bilbo grinned. "He sentenced me to life with no chance of parole."
Y/N playfully hit him on the arm. "Stop it, you begged me to marry you."
Bilbo's grin turned into a loving smile. "I did," he said, taking her hand in his. "And I've never regretted it for a moment."
The dwarves raised their glasses in a toast to the happy couple. "To Bilbo and Y/N," Thorin said, "may your love only grow stronger with each passing year."
As they clinked their glasses together, Bilbo and Y/N shared a sweet smile, grateful for the love and support of their dear friends.

“Dearest sister, will you hold my hand?” his voice carried between the two like soft summer rain and she hummed lowly, reaching over to grasp at the wrinkled hand. “Such warmth, dear sister,” he murmured with a tired smile. “Even as old as we are, they are still ever warm like the hearth.”
“I was sitting on them earlier, Bilbo,” she quipped, rubbing at her nose with her handkerchief. “That’s why they’re warm.”
Bilbo’s laugh was quiet, no longer as strong and hearty as it had been in the years prior. The two sat on the bench facing the sea, the warm breeze carrying the scent of flowers the world had never seen but only in Valinor. She gently rubbed her bony thumb over his. “I’m tired, Bilbo,” she simply said, and he didn’t bother to look at her to know exactly what she meant. “I think I’m ready to go to sleep.”
“We haven’t even had second breakfast yet.”
“Yes…but it’s been quite long since we slept.”
Bilbo inhaled quietly and nodded. “It has, hasn’t it?” he looked over, taking in the sight of his only sister, old and whitened. “Do you think they’ll be waiting for us?”
She knew instantly of who he spoke of, so long ago, a company of fine dwarves, one in particular standing out amongst the rest; she felt tears gather in her eyes and she met his gaze as she squeezed his hand and whispered tearfully, “I so wish to see them again. They’ll be waiting, dear brother.”
He nodded his head and turned back to the sea, shifting ever so slightly so he could rest his head against hers. “I can’t wait to see them again.”
Knowing that sleep was coming for them, she squeezed his hand quickly. “Do you think Frodo will be okay while we’re gone?”
“He will,” Bilbo answered knowingly and closed his eyes slowly. “I know our boy will.”
She blinked and laid her head against her brothers, the world before her beginning to darken as she shut her eyes, a soft smile on both their lips as they drifted off.
***
“Don’t put that there!” she shouted. “Mother did not like the chest of drawers on that wall!”
“I know what Mother liked and disliked, sister, you don’t have to yell!” he scowled as he tugged the piece of wooden furniture again. “Besides, perhaps if you helped instead of sitting there drinking tea, we wouldn’t be having this argument.”
“You are the one who decided to rearrange the home, Bilbo,” she retorted, making the same face back at him. She then let out a breath and rose, holding out her hand. “Come, we should go out to the garden and sit awhile.”
“But the furnit—”
“Will be here when it’s time for luncheon.”
Bilbo let himself be dragged into the garden where the two sat on the small bench, beginning to pass a pipe between them. “Lovely day,” he murmured, and she nodded.
“Indeed. A beautiful day. I dare say the golden butterlilies will be in bloom soon. Mother loved making syrup from them. Perhaps I should.”
“Mmm, and warm honey cakes to go with it,” he said and the two laughed.
As she passed the pipe back, she happened to turn and look down the road, squinting in the distance as a head appeared over the hill. Her eyes widened as more heads appeared behind the first and the face became clear. Jaw dropping in shock, she patted blindly beside her to get her brother’s attention. “Bil—Bilbo, the road, look at the road.”
His expression pinched as he leaned over and looked in the same direction; his reaction was much like hers as his eyes widened and he stuttered, “Is that—”
“It is!” she howled with excitement and beat him to the punch as she rose to her feet and hopped the fence, picking up the hem of her dress as she ran down the road to meet the oncoming group. “You’re back!” she yelled, hearing Bilbo coming behind her. “You waited! We knew you would!”
Skidding to a halt about ten feet from the group, she felt her brother stand beside her; all at once she was overcome with emotion as she met his eyes. “You waited for us,” she whispered and the dwarf before them smiled, so widely.
“My Master Burglars,” he greeted, taking note of the tears streaming down both their faces.
“It’s really good to see all of you again,” Bilbo all but managed to not blubber with a watery laugh.
The dwarves behind chuckled and she took a step forward, holding out her hand; he in return did the same and took her hand in his, warmth bleeding into her palm as he smiled softly at her and murmured, “‘Ibinê, I have waited long for you to join me.”
Her smile faltered as tears dripped down her cheeks. “I’m sorry, I’m so, so, so sorr—”
“Shhh,” he said with an expression of calm. “You lived a good life. I would not have wished you any other way.” Brushing his thumb over hers he lifted her hand and kissed her knuckles. “And you know I was with you in spirit every step of the way. Never once did I not know you in your grief, in your sorrow, in your happiness, and love. I witnessed it all, ‘ibinê.”
Her lips trembled and she squeezed his hand, letting herself be pulled into his arms; reaching up she cupped his cheek, brushing a thumb under his eye, a knot welling in her throat as she greeted, “It’s good to see you again, Thorin.”

SUNDAY POST
HOWDY! This Sunday's post is the second place winner from the last poll Modern au w/Canon races. It's a bit shorter list because I am hoarding my holiday fics.
Starting off is a series, so a three for one.
Where Forever We Remain by lilithiumwords.
What Happens in Gondor Explicit
Office Hours Explicit
Misdirection teen and up
Modern day Middle Earth, a little bit of reincarnation. and short and sweet works. I fell in love with series and wish that there was more.
Now I know FemBagginshield is not everyone's cup of tea. But I adore this fic. I am biased to any of Rutobuka's works. so i present!
The Service by Rutobuka.
Fem!Thorin and Fem!Bilbo. The story is explicit as the major plot revolves around Fem!Thorin figuring herself out in an explicit way with Bilbo's help. I really do recommend reading this one if you can. If its just not something you like just scroll past it.

Fem!Bilbo Bagginshield
I absolutely love Fem!Bilbo (especially when she pretends to be male) fics.  This is a list of some of the first fics I read with Fem!Bilbo.  There were so many that I have read at this point that there will probably be a part 2 and a part 3 . . .
Let me know what your favourite Fem!Bilbo fics are!
Wear a Flower in Your Hair (You're Beautiful) by JackQuaker
[Podfic] An Eye For Quality read by kalakirya
Original version here: An Eye For Quality by Linelen (Linelenagain)
Fíli lived his life by an old dwarven proverb: when a fool drops a treasure, a wise man picks it up (it sounded better in the original khuzdul).
Bella Baggins never quite fit in the Shire. Perhaps she was made for the mountains, instead.
This story is so sweet.  The way the dwarves care for Bella just hits you in the found family feels in the best way!  Also I love a podfic.  It lets me knit and listen to a fic.
The Seedling by Chrononautical (Tumblr)
In the course of her adventures, Bilbo finds herself pregnant. Without an offer of marriage from Thorin, she returns to the Shire to raise the child with the help of her family.
The King Under the Mountain is heartbroken that Bilbo chooses to leave Erebor, but he cannot blame her. Not after he tried to kill her. There was a time when she would have proposed marriage, but that time is clearly past. If all he can have of her are her letters, then he will be grateful for the missives.
Getting these two to talk just might take divine intervention. Or the intervention of a particularly interested child.
I absolutely love this story (and also everything written by this author in later ficrecs you will see them again).  I cannot stop re-reading it.   It once again has the unplanned pregnancy trop, which is one of my favourites.  Also the way the issue of virtue and cultural misunderstandings works is just *insert meme of Pacha from The Emperor’s New Groove.*
Hurricanes in Hertford, Hereford, and Hampshire by 61Below
Bilbo was banished. That's it, the end. She wants nothing more to do with dwarves. Now all she needs to do is get back home, but there may be some complications along the way.
I think this might have been my first Fem!Bilbo fic I read.  And then I was hooked!
The Mediator by Mynuet
"An adventure?" Billa Baggins, a respectable genteel hobbit of the Shire, shivered and tried to convince herself it was a shudder.
In which a perfectly proper not-so-young lady whistles her reputation down the wind and finds she really is her mother's daughter.
Really interesting sexual politics between the dwarves and hobbits.
Wear a Flower in Your Hair (You're Beautiful) by JackQuaker
A retelling of The Hobbit in which Bilbo is Bella and she can grow a beard when even male hobbits can't.A tale of growth, love and self acceptance.
Bella is so adorable and nice in this story and you just want nice things for her (which she does get!).
Fic Rec Note:  If I have linked a story you wrote and you want me to:
a) remove it/links to your ao3 or tumblr,
b) add your ao3 or tumblr if I have not included it

The Hobbit fan fiction/Thorin Oakenshield x Fem!fairy!elf!oc
Masterlist
Chapter One: Last of their kind
Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Love had always felt like a distant dream to Nessa.
A fantasy one's imagination makes up to cope with the everlasting loneliness of what it meant to be a ranger. Even more so when she was turned away from the only place she could call home.
Even if she never particularly liked the elves, her being half-elf meant she grew up in the core of Elvish life. Rivendell. Her mother who was dying of a broken heart didn't help either. Especially since she is still knocking on death's door years later. Nessa presumed it would be easier to deal with her mother as if she's already passed than to watch her slowly dying.
It's not like her mother would care anyway. The last she heard of her was that she was doing much better since Nessa left. Seeing her daughter obsess over everything fairy-related must've been the cause for her decline. And Nessa's leaving, despite how horrible it sounds, made her survive.
Being Half-Elf and growing up in Rivendell meant Nessa would have always been fighting to fit into a world that saw her as a joke. A 5'3 half-elf half-fairy whose loud bubbly and, at most, eccentric personality only made her stick out like a sore thumb. I guess she could blame the fairy genes for that...But she never wanted to blame her fairy heritage for anything! The few times she had heard about the Fae from her mother appealed to her greatly. The lost race of the fairies would always hold a place in her heart. She was proud of her origin.
The Fairyland, though practically nonexistent today, sounded like the perfect place for her. If only it wasn't for the major depletion it accumulated in all of time, she would be living the dream by now. Thus her Elvish mother took her to Rivendell when she was a baby.
Also, because her fairy father flew off. (Literally.)
__________________
In a quiet clearing on the outskirts of a woodland, near a village in Bree, Nessa received a letter.
Upon opening, almost unreadable scribbles - assumed to be due to someone's shaky old hands scrambling to write their last words from their death bed - become clear and her theory of someone old writing this letter only made more sense to her as she began to read;
Dear, long lost sister.
My name is Rogue. All I've been told is that we have the same father. Sometime after he left you he became my father also. So, I am writing you this letter in the hopes that you may want to talk. You don't know me and I don't know you and yet we're sisters. Deep down I know you will do anything for me and I'll do the same for you.
This is why I want to ask, Would you like to meet in person? I will be arriving shortly.
We sure have a lot to catch up on. Time is of the essence, my dear sister.
From,
Rogue.
Nessa's eyes were as wide as her pet Owl's when she refused to give her another treat, and her mouth was agape. Nessa's had a long-lost sister this whole time and only finds out now?!
If this sister is who they say they are, they must be old now, as she speculates. Half-human. Half-Fae. Rogue is right, time is not on their side. Death seems to follow Nessa and even still, plagues a half-Fae-half-human.
The sweet hoot of her owl (Pilvi) and the gentle flapping of its wings brought Nessa back to her surroundings. She must pack a bag immediately. Food. Water. Medicine if needed. What state is Rogue in? Are they ill? Is that why they've waited all this time to contact them? Humans don't live long after all. Or had they only just heard about Nessa, as Nessa had about them? Is it too late to meet them? She received this letter weeks ago...
Her pet owl hooted again.
"Aw Pilvi, sorry, were you hooting for me?" Nessa caressed her bird and watched her enjoy it. Pilvi's eyes squinted and her head relaxed as if the loving touch could melt her.
Her precious hoot filled the room once again and Nessa cooed back, softly speaking to her.
Interrupting them, a knock sounded. It was uncommon for Nessa to receive visitors. Not after the fairyland practically died out. This must be some kind of trick, ironically.
Pilvi was flustered. Her wings sprayed in and out continually. After calming her owl down, Nessa grabbed the nearest item that she could find, which could be used as a weapon.
A frying pan.
Nessa slowly opened the door, peering out. An unknown figure stood in the pouring rain. Their fur cloak visibly weighed heavy on their shoulders as it soaked with rain. Along with wet blue locks of hair that peaked from under their hood.
"Oh, my, are you lost?" Nessa asked worriedly. She pondered to herself as to what might have happened to this poor soul out there in the woods in the rain.
"I am Rogue, your sister."
"Oh. You're not old,"
Rogue blinked in surprise.
"Excuse me?"
"You're human. Aren't you supposed to be old? Dying on your deathbed?" Nessa waved the frying pan about as she confusingly tangented. "That's why you asked to meet. And your handwriting...very shaky!" She pointed the pan in Rogue's direction who, in return, produced a blank stare.
The frantic waving of the frying pan returned along with another tangent from Nessa and before they knew it they were bickering like sisters do. Amongst the chaos Rogue managed to snatch the frying pan, tired of Nessa waving it too close to their face for their liking.
"GIVE IT BACK!" Nessa shrieked.
This continued for a few moments until Nessa suddenly screamed
"OLD CREEPY MAN!" as she pointed to someone not that far behind Rogue.
Rogue turned around and tried not to show her annoyance at the man. "Speaking of old, that is Gandalf. He's not creepy, he's a wizard."
A long pause comes as all three take long looks at each other.
"OLD CREEPY WIZARD?!?!" Nessa screamed again and in this moment of distraction, she grabbed the frying pan back and held it up as if she was going to do damage.
Rogue yelled out for her and swiftly snatched it again. "I'm half human. HALF. I'm not old."
"Then stop flailing like a child." Gandalf scolded as he walked closer to them, staff in hand.
"She started it!-" Rogue began as Gandalf stopped them again.
"Long-lost sister. Wizard. I think I'm going to faint." Nessa felt her forehead with her hand. The cold rain did nothing to cool her down.
"Let me help with that," Rogue declared as they took a purple glowing flower from their bag and the next thing Nessa saw was darkness.
_________________
Nessa stirred in her sleep, her nose twitched at the smell of
Pipe-weed. She had the weirdest dream. There was a wizard and her long-lost sister!?
She opened her eyes, expecting to be in her bed. Alone. Maybe with Pilvi by her side. And a book. But no. A figure with long blue hair, braided sporadically, leaned over her. Her dream was real. Though, no wizard in sight. Maybe that was the part her dream made up.
Before she could start to question anything and everything, Rogue placed a hand over her mouth and sent her a look, asking for trust. Nessa nodded and the hand was taken off her mouth.
Rogue slowly held out her hands for Nessa to hold. The single touch of their palms caused a glimmering shine to arise across their skin almost as if they were made of glitter. Their glowing veins painted the room in gold.
They studied their skin for what felt like years, unable to look away. "Fae markings," Nessa whispered, releasing a breath she didn't know she was holding.
"Fae markings," Rogue repeated, pleased that her trick worked.
"You're my sister!"
"Of course I am. Now let's get down to business," They gently let go of Nessa's hands, and the glow dimmed until it was no more.
Rogue took a chair, spinning it around to sit on it backwards,
"Would you like to help a group of Dwarves take back their land?"
"Too right!" Nessa wholeheartedly agreed. She had nothing to lose. With the died-out fairyland and all, she also most certainly understood their wanting to take back land. These sisters finally reunited, the last of their kind would be helping the dwarves reclaim their home, as they wished others would have helped the Fae.
"You didn't make up that wizard, by the way."
"How did you know-"

Chapter 1
Thorin Oakenshield x Fem!Reader
Summary: you prepare for the quest to reclaim Erebor by meeting your kin in the home of a very disgruntled hobbit. However, you don't expect to face your first obstacle before you even step foot out the door, when an unexpected ghost from your past darkens the door of the hobbit hole.
Warnings: eventual smut, no use of y/n, angst
Word count: 1833
Author's note: This is my FIRST fic! The beginnings of this story have been sitting in my computer for sooo long and for whatever reason today I just decided to jump headfirst into being a Tumblr writer! I'm still very new to this, so I welcome all kinds of constructive feedback/criticism. If there are any warnings/tags you think I missed just let me know :) Reader is AFAB! half dwarf/half human, but still grew up in the halls of Erebor. We'll get more into her background and her history with Thorin later on in the series! Enjoy!
“What do you think they’ll have?” Filli asks with giddy excitement as they pass each hobbit hole on their way through the shire.
“what do you mean?” you ask absentmindedly, scanning each door for the symbol Gandalf instructed you to look for.
“For supper of course,” Killi replies. “He said there would be lots of food, and no one can cook quite like a hobbit can.” you can’t deny the intoxicating aroma that has seeped into your nose with every inhale since the moment you arrived in the shire. Freshly baked bread, patiently cured meats, and hearty stews seem to be baking all around you as the sun finishes its descent behind the lush rolling hills of the shire.
Darkness has settled all around as the inhabitants of the hobbit holes settle in for the evening. The only remaining light comes from the lamps illuminating the doorways and the warming hearths inside every cozy little hole.
“I see it!” You shout triumphantly when you glimpse the blue mark glowing on the green door of a hobbit hole.
The two dwarves are so anxious for a hot meal that they’ve already bounded up to the door to ring the bell before you can even blink.
The front door is pulled open abruptly and a very frustrated hobbit groans at the sight of you. A reaction that is not all that uncommon while traveling with dwarves, so the three of you greet him enthusiastically regardless.
“You must be Mr. Boggins,” Kili begins.
“Nope!” the hobbit shouts, “you can’t come in, you’ve come to the wrong house!” he tries and fails to close the door on the three of you.
“What?!” you all shout in confusion. Knowing there is absolutely no way you are at the wrong door.
“Has it been canceled? No one told us.” the brothers protest.
“No, nothing’s been canceled,” the hobbit starts to explain.
You all sigh in relief and continue to push your way further inside.
The home is filled with the overlapping chatter of dwarves and the clattering of weapons being tossed into the arms of the frazzled hobbit.
Dwalin’s booming voice greets the three of you, quickly recruiting you all to join in the organized chaos that is preparing the cramped dining room for even more dwarves to arrive.
Food is tossed about, ale sloshed onto the floor, and poor Bilbo’s house is an absolute wreck. You can’t help but feel sorry for your host, but you also can’t bring yourself to pull away from the merriment just yet.
It had been so long since you’d last been around so many of your dwarven friends. Up until beginning your journey several weeks ago, you hadn’t even seen Kili and Fili for many years.
But their mother, Dis had always been a very good friend of yours. Ever since growing up Erebor, you had felt as closely connected to her family as she was to yours.
Unfortunately, due to the arrival of a dragon, and stubborn dwarvish pride you had long ago gone your separate ways. Save for the occasional letter. Much like the letter you received asking if you would be willing to accompany her two reckless sons on their latest journey.
Kili and Fili were not exactly known for their self-preservation instincts and the journey that lay before you would not be an easy one. But even if it weren’t as a favor to Dis, you would have said yes regardless. Nothing in the world would be able to prevent you from helping to finally reclaim your homeland, and defeat the great beast that took so much from you.
Several pints of ale have loosened your inhibitions and you now find yourself laughing and singing along with the rowdy bunch, not a care in the world.
Until a heavy knock comes on the door.
Silence falls over the hobbit hole.
“He’s here,” says Gandalf.
“Who’s here?” you ask in confusion.
No answer comes, and everyone is suddenly averting their gaze from yours as Gandalf crosses the room to open the door. You have a bad feeling about what’s on the other side.
Gandalf pulls it open with a flourish and is greeted by a deep voice. A familiar voice.
No, you think to yourself. It can’t be.
But sure enough, Thorin Oakenshield is stepping through the front door.
He says something to Gandalf but you can’t fully make out what it is.
Your ears are ringing loudly and a white, hot flame is blazing deep inside your belly.
Suddenly you’re back to the last time you saw him, years ago. Tears streaming down your cheeks in the doorway of the dusty old inn.
“He looks more like a grocer than a burglar,” Thorin laughs as he turns towards the dining room. Where his eyes immediately lock with yours. You can see the exact moment he realizes you’re there. His eyes widen in shock and your name slips past his lips in a breathless whisper.
For what feels like the longest second of your life, he simply stands there taking you in. From the braided strands framing your face to the silhouette of your long green traveling dress. You could almost swear he looked…happy to see you.
And that only adds more fuel to the fire inside you.
“Thorin,” you growl and curl your fists at your side. “What are you doing here?” you hiss.
He narrows his eyes back at you. “What am I doing here? I am the leader of this company, what are you doing here? It isn’t safe for you, lass.”
You scream in frustration. The sexist pig! You have just as much of a right to be here as everyone else and he knows it. Your arm reaches up of its own accord to smack that self-righteous look right off his face. But before your hand can make contact Fili grabs your arm and pulls you away.
You whirl around and shove him away from you.
“You!” you glare between Kili and Fili redirecting your anger. “You lied to me!” they both start to protest but before they can form a single sentence you hold up a finger and they both fall silent.
“You told me, he wouldn’t be here! You looked me right in the eyes and lied to my face,” you grind out, barely containing the urge to strike them both upside the head.
“We didn’t want to,” Fili begs.
“It was our mother’s idea, she knew that was the only way you would agree to come.” Kili finishes.
You laugh humorlessly. “And she was absolutely right, I’m leaving!” you turn on your heel and march straight towards the door. But before you can fully push past him, Thorin’s hand encircles your wrist and firmly pulls you back to look at him.
It was a mistake letting yourself stand any closer to him. As soon as you do his scent envelopes you. Smoke, iron, and Thorin. You yank stubbornly on his grip, desperate to put some distance between the two of you but he is too strong.
“Wait,” he whispers to you, both commanding and desperate. “You cannot make the journey back alone, it is already dark, who knows what is lurking along those roads-”
You scoff and reach your free hand behind you for the dagger concealed underneath your corset. Before he can continue you have it pressed firmly against his throat. You apply just enough pressure that you know he can feel the blade stinging against his skin, but he doesn’t even blink. You lean in closer to him looking deep into his eyes.
“I can take care of myself,” you whisper. “I’ve had a lot of practice at it as of late.” And he loosens his grip just enough for you to yank yourself free. You remove the dagger from his throat and attempt to resume your departure, but this time it is Gandalf who stands in your way.
“I am sorry we misled you, my dear. But I’m afraid we cannot accomplish this task without you.” you lift the dagger up defiantly and point it at his chest, but you both know it is an empty threat.
“I don’t care,” you reply. “It’s not my problem.”
“You do, and it is,” the wizard replies. “I know how you’ve spent the last years, you are the only one who possesses the knowledge and connections we need to accomplish this feat.”
You hear the whispers of confusion from behind you. They clearly didn’t know how you had dedicated the last several years of your life to searching, reading, and studying every resource you could get your hands on in preparation for this exact task.
“I know how badly you wish to return home,” Gandalf continues, as if he could read your mind. “A great deal was taken from you that day, and you are not the type to let that stand. So the question remains: who deserves your wrath more at this moment? Thorin or Smaug?”
You let your arm fall back to your side, tucking the dagger back away.
“Who says it can’t be both?” you challenge him.
Gandalf laughs and shakes his head.
“Oh you are part dwarf indeed my child. Hold onto whatever anger you wish. But don’t let it get in the way of you reclaiming your homeland, defeating Smaug, and finally laying your parents to rest.”
You clench your jaw in frustration. You know he’s right, but you hate to admit it.
“We can do this without her,” Thorin grumbles from behind you. “If she wishes to leave she can, I’ll have someone escort her home safely.”
You finally whirl around to glare at him again. He doesn’t want you here, he doesn’t think you can do it. He doesn’t think a ‘helpless girl’ can hold her own on a dangerous journey such as this one.
You smirk back at him defiantly.
“On second thought,” you place one hand on your hip and extend the other out toward Balin. “I’ll sign that contract now,”
Thorin grumbles and glares at you in protest.
Balin moves faster than you’ve ever seen the dwarf move, handing you the contract before you can change your mind or Thorin can argue against it.
You scribble your name at the bottom and shove it into Thorin’s chest as you saunter past him in search of another pint of ale.
You lost count of how many more drinks you downed before passing out in one of the soft armchairs by the fire.
You stir briefly when a familiar scent meets your nose and a thick blanket is gently draped across your sleeping form.
You could swear you feel the whisper of a touch ghost across your cheek, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
But before you can wake any further, a deep voice starts to sing:
Far over the misty mountains cold…
More voices start to join in the melody, and before you know it you are lulled deeper and deeper back into a dreamless sleep.

Inadequate.
Tumblr media
Fandom: The Hobbit
Pairings: Thorin Oakenshield x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Insecurity, fluff
Summary: You and Thorin are so deeply insecure about how you come across to each other and feel inadequacy. Will you finally be able to admit to each other how you feel?
Notes/comments: If you like this fic, please consider a reblog. My tag list is also open if you wish to be added. Please let me know if you want to be added to the Follow Forever list or a particular character/fandom list.
This is a request from an anonymous reader who has asked for a reader and Thorin fic where they both feel love, which is requited, but hold feelings of inadequacy. I've also said that I'm always happy to write for Thorin, as he's still my main love, but I'm worrying now that my fics are all sounding the same and my ideas for him are getting quite old.
It felt like an old teenage crush. You were constantly watching from a distance, listening in to every word he said, fantasising about sharing a heartfelt kiss. But it was all so ridiculous. Why on earth would Thorin Oakenshield, the rightful King of Erebor ever look at you in such a way? It kept you awake at night, the heartache of feeling unwanted. The Dwarves had happily welcomed you to their Company, and had proved delightful travelling companions for the most part. But the budding feelings you had for their leader was becoming all consuming now. Whenever he spoke and you felt butterflies in your gut, and most of the time, speaking became almost impossible when he was directly face to face with you.
Thorin sat across the camp, on the opposite side, his back perched against a large boulder. A fire was burning a few feet away, central to all of the Company who were scattered in a circle. He could make out your shape, huddled back to back with Bilbo. He felt envy at the halfling for being so close to you. You had fit in so well with everyone, finding a place where you could feel accepted. But somehow Thorin noticed how different you were in his company to everyone else. With the others and you laughed, played pranks, spoke of your former life. Whenever you were with him and you became distant, almost withdrawn. The longer you had spent with the Company and the deeper it pained him whenever you glanced away as he attempted to talk to you.
You woke in the middle of the night, your bladder close to bursting. You shuffled away from the camp, and stood behind a tree, stooping to relieve yourself.
Once you were done, you got to your feet and looked up at the stars overhead. They made you think of home, where everything that was familiar to you resided.
You heard footsteps behind you.
"My apologies. I did not realise you were out here," Thorin's voice came. Oh, that voice. It sent trails of electricity racing through you and conjured rather erotic mental images.
"I was just going back to the camp," you replied, ready to dart past him.
Thorin sighed in frustration. "Why do you find me so difficult to talk to?" he growled. "Am I repulsive to you?"
You stopped, shocked by his outburst. Then you turned slowly to face him. He was so handsome, and every time you looked upon that inner and outward beauty, it stunned you to silence. "I..."
Thorin could sense your discomfort and clenched his fist, shaking his head. "Good night!" He began to stamp away, but was caught off guard when he heard you speak his name. Hearing your voice utter his name was musical to his ears, so angelic.
"I've never meant to...offend you," you said, your voice still showing traces of your anxiety. "I'm sorry. Please don't hate me."
His bright blue eyes shone as he looked back over his shoulder to you, his gaze just above the fur of his pelt. "Hate?" Thorin chuckled. "That is what you feel for me."
"No, I don't hate you. Far from it. I never know how to be when I'm with you. Look at you," you said, finally allowing the dam to break. The words fell from your lips, beginning to highlight how you felt. "You're a king. And I'm...well, nothing."
Thorin turned to face you completely and stepped up to you. His eyes had grown warm, the ferocity of anger having left them. "Whenever I'm in your presence and I see you with the others, it's you who makes me feel like I'm nothing."
"How could I ever make you feel like that?"
"I wish you could see yourself through my eyes," Thorin said. "And that distance between us has only made me feel more beneath those I consider friends."
"No," you exclaimed. "Never." You shot to Thorin and took his hand in yours, holding it to your chest. "I'd never want you to feel that way. Never. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me."
Thorin felt an array of emotions rage inside him, mixed with arousal. He wanted you in so many ways, and all of it was overwhelming him. "There is nothing to forgive. I was becoming a prisoner of my own thoughts. Would you walk with me?"
"Of course," you replied.
The two of you walked side by side, down a pathway towards a river. The sound of it flowing got louder, and gradually you found yourself the other side of a thicket and the river was there, open before you.
Thorin put his hand on the base of your back, urging you to go before him.
"I enjoy walking at night," he told you.
"I've noticed quite a few times that you've disappeared from the camp, and I always wondered where you'd gone," you replied.
Thorin chuckled. "You took more notice of me than I realised."
"I always tried to make it look like I wasn't watching," you said, beginning to giggle. "It looks like I at least acted that part well."
You felt Thorin take your hand, the two of you stood at the edge of the river. He lifted it to his lips and kissed it gently. You couldn't help but smile as his beard tickled your skin.
The two of you locked gazes, and this time your heart raced in anticipation, not nervousness.
It was finally happening, Thorin thought. He was about to kiss you, and as he did, he wound his arms around your middle. You smelled and tasted divine, so much better than all of his fantasies.
You smiled beneath his kisses and let him continue kissing you until the two of you lost your breaths.

Tumblr media
You knew you were in deep trouble. There was nothing you could do in that moment to shake the chill that pierced straight through your heart.
“You have no idea who you are.”
That was what Smaug said, but despite the startled and frightened frown on your face, you stood tall. You spoke even though your voice betrayed you and cracked under the pressure of being so close to a dragon that you could feel its breath on your cheeks.
“I know exactly who I am,” you said, inching your hand with your sword up higher, “I am one of Thorin Oakensheild’s Company. That ought to tell you who I am, for they are my family."
“So then you have come to steal from me. I almost want to give it to you.” Smaug said, eyeing the glowing Arkenstone. Your eyes darted to the gem, before you fixed firmly on the dragon. Bilbo would sort out the stone, of that you were sure, but the dragon - you could do little, but you would make sure not to get caught off-guard. “Oakenshield will suffer for it. It would bring so much joy to watch it destroy him. For it to corrupt his heart and push you all away. To drive him mad like his grandfather before him. But,”
Smaug fixed his eyes on you and Bilbo, and the hairs on the back of your neck stood on end. You were in danger.
“I think not.” The dragon moved fast, making out to bite you both into his jaws in one fell swoop, but you’d moved away just in time. Then he reared back again, and fire grew in his chest. A burning heat starting in your own lungs, making it harder to run atop the coin under foot.
Shielding yourselves in a hall to avoid the dragon’s fire, you pushed back against the stone with fear heavy in your chest. You'd awakened the dragon, and you'd angered it. Somehow you felt you should’ve known it was going to happen - surely this was what your dreams were telling you. The fire and death and destruction - they were all a warning, one you didn’t heed because you didn’t know it was there.
And the things he said about you and your mother? That wasn't anything like you were expecting. You couldn’t remember a darkness like this in your mother. You couldn’t remember a time it could’ve taken her - perhaps not your own fault, you couldn’t remember a lot about your life before, but somehow you still knew. Even still, if the darkness took her, it didn’t matter.
You were not your mother, and you knew you never would be.
Bilbo tugged at the sleeve of your tunic, trying to usher you both away from danger. You followed, chest heaving and with sweat beading on your forehead - was it always this hot in here?
Ahead of you, Thorin appeared, and Bilbo went up to greet him. His eyes didn’t say long on the Hobbit.
“You’re alive,” he said, clarity shining in his blue eyes before it seemed to cloud again at the sight of the treasure behind you. His face turned back to Bilbo. “Did you bring the Arkenstone?” He was curt, straight to the point, and you didn't like it. He was acting towards you like the Dwarf you met all those months ago in the Shire. He wasn't your Thorin anymore - he wasn’t the person who warmed to you enough to tell you about the glory of Erebor while locked in cells of dirt and stone. “The Arkenstone. Did you find it?” he asked again, ignoring Bilbo’s talk of danger. But Bilbo said nothing, and neither did you.
“We have to get out of here.” Bilbo said, trying to step forwards past Thorin, but was stopped by a blade at his chest. Thorin moved, pushing Bilbo towards the edge of the staircase with the sharp tip of his sword. Immediately you took a step closer.
“Thorin,” you said, voice set in a tone of warning as your own grip tightened on your own sword. One look from Thorin made you stop. It told you if you moved closer he'd put the sword on you instead. He wasn’t trusting Bilbo, but right now he would still hurt you if you got in his way. It was the Hobbit or the gem.
This truly was not your Thorin.
The rattle of coins in the distance made you turn around. You spotted Smaug coming, he’d heard you, smelt you - it didn’t really matter how he knew where you were because he did.
You repeated Thorin’s name again, this time softer, more desperate and more frightened. He turned to where you were looking and from the clarity that reclaimed his eyes it was the shock he needed to regain his head.
The sword lowered, and Bilbo almost tripped over himself getting back behind Thorin. He gestured for you to do the same, to find safely behind him in the smaller halls the dragon would not fit in. Then he too backed away with you both behind him.
“We need to go.” Bilbo puffed - but you saw Thorin had not yet looked away from Smaug, a dangerous thing for now the dragon knew exactly where you were.
“You will burn!”
Tumblr media
After that, the rest of the Company seemed to materialize out of thin air, now you all were running for your lives dodging dragon fire, and hiding from the dragon itself.
“This was a bad idea!"
"Shut up, keep running!"
You tried your best to ignore everyone and their constant complaints, but it was easier to listen to them than to spend all your brain-power worrying about the pain in your chest that made it hard to breathe. It was like someone had scratched your throat raw and then poured lemon juice down it. It made your eyes water, and your voice came out raspy whenever you spoke.
No matter what you did, where you ran, you always had to keep something between yourselves and the dragon - pillars, walls of coins, anything - but nothing stopped the dragon fire nipping at your heels. At that point your brain shut off, you were just following where the Company led and prayed to whoever was listening that you’d make it to the end of the night alive.
The Company ran into a cornered off room, with you following just behind on their tail. Thorin pulled you into the hall after him just as Smaug rounded a corner with a hot breath of fire, and used himself as your shield. You both stumbled forward, you with your mouth open - partially in shocked horror at the fact Thorin was literally on fire, and partially because your mouth felt too dry to close.
You watched as he fell to the floor and shed the flaming coat before standing and ushering everyone to the opposite side of the room where more corridors were waiting. It was like he wasn’t just on fire. You wondered how he could shake that off so fast, and if such composure was expected of you.
Despite that, the dragon seemed to have been lost. Everyone was as silent as they ever had been as you walked through the empty halls. The group came to a stop, weary of where Smaug was since he couldn’t be heard anywhere. Some thought the dragon had lost them, others - the more sensible and older ones - knew he was still close, and still searching. You knew from how your hair had yet to stop standing on end that Smaug was still hunting you. It made your stomach ache.
“Where do we go?” Bilbo asked, quietly looking at Thorin and you.
“A way out,” Thorin said, “The Western Guardroom.” He looked back at the Company after he spoke, and you saw his eyes rest on you - the crease in his brow deepened ever so slightly, yet he allowed himself to become distracted away from you.
“There’s no chance that way,” Balin said, stepping forward, “It’s too high.”
“It’s our only chance.”
"Thorin -" you started, stepping forward to protest - something was telling you Balin has sense in his words. Thorin looked at you, shaking his head.
“You know we must try.” He said. You nodded your head, shoulders slumping in defeat. The group moved, quick to leave a space so open and exposed, but you lingered, watching as others passed by. Dwalin, however, took notice, and stuck with you as you followed behind the pack.
“We all know what you’re here for,” he started quietly, intent on making this conversation one between just you two. “Whatever you need to do, whenever you need to do it, I’ll help. It will be for the best.” He took hold of your forearm as you walked, and with a smile you pet it as a signal to let go.
“Thank you, but you need to do as Thorin asks.” Dwalin looked up at you, watching your face, and spoke again.
“You are the future Queen, your voice deserves to be heard as much as Thorin’s.”
It struck you a little, as you processed Dwalin’s words, the situation you’d found yourself in over the course of this journey. You were courting Thorin, King Under the Mountain. The hair bead that beat against your shoulder as you walked proved it. Even though he was acting less than a King in that moment he was still - in all the ways you knew - yours. Just as you were his.
But, as you watched Thorin lead the Company along stone walkways and past pillars, you wondered just how exactly he felt about that now.
“I’m no Queen yet, Dwalin.” you said, and so your conversation lulled into silence, yet Dwalin didn’t leave your side.
The Company reached a bridge, and as they cautiously crossed, a coin fell. It clanged to the floor near Bilbo, and while others all looked towards the small drop of gold on the stone, you looked up. Your jaw dropped open, and your breath caught in your throat. Others followed your gaze, and you pushed Nori’s shoulder lightly to keep him moving, unknowingly mirroring Thorin who was doing the same to those further ahead.
Above you was Smaug - he looked big, you knew that, and although you’d been under him before now seemed different. You didn’t care about being found then - however now you couldn’t think of anything worse.
Luckily the guardroom was close by. Thorin led everyone inside, and they moved quickly. You loitered near the doorway - while everyone else inspected the room, you were still on edge about that dragon. You’d hate to be caught in here, so close to being able to leave. You were determined to listen as little as possible, an attempt to not add anymore reason to be anxious - however a strong hand on your upper arm pulled you away from that goal, and into the room.
Over Thorin’s head you finally caught sight of a hoard of Dwarven corpses stacked upon the place where a way out was supposed to be - remnants of a past group who sought a way out here too, and failed.
“Where is the exit?” Thorin said. He sounded upset, and you didn’t like how close he was standing to you when his eyes looked like that. As his words rang in your ear, you frowned.
“What?” you asked, voice hardly above a whisper, “Thorin you know I don’t know -”
“Tell me!” he yelled, hands holding tight to your shoulders. In front of you Thorin was staring at you intensely. Blinking, you realised this was what you’d been warned about - what he had been warned about - the dragon sickness.
Thorin wasn’t okay, and really neither were you. Across the room, every member of the Company was ready to intervene. Especially Dwalin, and even Bilbo.
“Just tell me!” He said again, and lifted your shoulders off the wall you’d backed into. With a shove, your back hit the wall with force, knocking the breath from your lungs with an unsettling uplift of dust, and a crack as your head hit a piece of decoration.
Before anyone could step in, a growl grew in the back of your throat - but the noise, rather than coming from you, echoed in from the hall outside. As if snapped out of a trance, Thorin backed off and addressed the Company. Acting like a good proper leader, acting as if you never existed in the first place.
“Head to the forges. Split up. We’re killing that dragon.” he said.
“We won’t make it,” Blain said, eyeing you as you rubbed the parts of your arms Thorin held (that hurt more than anything else, his touch seemed to burn hotter than any pain given by a stone wall).
“If this is to end in fire,” Thorin started, turning back to you, catching your eyes, “Then we all burn together.” He moved off, and you watched as Golin and Bilbo followed with a reluctant glance towards you.
“What do we do?” Ori asked, standing by your side timidly as you rolled your shoulder under your palm.
“Do as Thorin says.” you started, sounding weak as you stared off where Thorin disappeared.
“He isn’t in the right mind.” Balin said.
“No,” you said, “He still has a good head on his shoulders, but his heart isn't in the right place.”
“He hurt you -” Dwalin replied.
“He is sick, you cannot see that?” you said, gesturing towards the hall outside, before sighing deep. “Perhaps you are right, but that is not up for debate now. The dragon is a big issue, one we need to deal with. We do as Thorin says. Split up, and distract the dragon to give others enough time to light the forge.”
So, then, after word from you, the rest of the Company moved to action - some, such as Ori and Dori, only went after triple checking you were really okay. Physically you were doing fine - burning lungs aside - however the idea Thorin would lay a hand on you did shake you. But as you said, deal with the dragon first.
You split off with Dwalin and Nori, calling Smaug’s attention towards you when he became too close to Ori’s trio.
“Hey you, lizard!” Smaug turned abruptly, breathing a puff of smoke out his nose. “Yeah you, you cold-blooded coward!” you yelled again, nudging Nori so they'd move out of the way faster than the dragon approached.
As Smaug’s claw clipped at your heels, you realized what sort of mistake you’d just made - namely biting off more than you could chew in terms of mockery. You fell, and rolled to a stop beside a column.
“You think you can run?” Smaug said, red hot heat swelling in his chest once more and you felt a bead of sweat roll down your neck and under your tunic, “You think you can hide? I’ll take you one by one if I must!”
Then Smaug let out fire all over where you were standing, and you could do nothing except tuck yourself further behind the column of stone. It did nothing to protect you from the heat, it seemed to burn hotter than the very sun, but once the flames went away you weren’t hurt. Thank goodness for Dwarven stone architecture. Even so, you barely let out a breath of relief until Smaug moved away and everything went quiet.
Once you emerged from the pillar, it wasn’t just Smaug who had gone. Everyone had. There wasn’t another soul to be heard. The noise from them echoed into where you stood, telling you that the dragon marched elsewhere, and yet you were alone. Really you couldn’t really blame everyone for running while the dragon was distracted - you only hoped they realized you were still alive.
You ran across a bridge and into the adjacent tunnel, following the noise towards where it sounded like the forges were.
Then your foot slipped on a step that was too-damp, and you fell to the ground with a loud thump.
Tumblr media
Thorin stood just outside the forges, watching and waiting.
He could feel the dragon's steps coming closer through the way the ground shook beneath him. The forges weren’t lit, they had been too cold for too long, and the best source of fire was coming straight to him.
What he didn’t expect to see, however, was you. Even through the adrenaline of a fight Thorin could tell something wasn’t quite right with you. How long had you been like that? When did you start walking with a limp? When did you carry one arm like it weighed your whole body? Since when did your chest glow, and since when were your eyes red?
He watched, frozen in shock, as the dragon emerged behind you. You seemed unbothered and didn’t flinch, but he did. Smaug walked, pacing himself just behind you, and Thorin felt his blood run cold as both your head and the dragon’s tilted in the exact same uncanny way. But then, as the dragon’s chest glowed brighter, you lurched forward - pain strict across your face with your hand clutched to your chest. The glowing there and in your eyes flickered, and faded.
Then you were on the ground, motionless, and the dragon charged at him.
Thorin did not have a chance to check on you, not even if he felt like wanting to. Instead he ran, and for a while he would completely forget what happened to his One in that hallway outside the forges of Erebor.
Tumblr media
You stood above Thorin, and he looked across at you with eyes that were cold and determined. You opened your mouth to speak yet the voice was not yours.
“You will burn!” the voice said, but you did not want that. You weren’t against Thorin. You didn’t want him to burn. The entire reason you were here was to help him.
He then spoke, instead now standing over you, with a sword pointed right between your eyes.
“Just tell me!” But that wasn’t right either. He wasn’t against you. He loved you. He was your One. Wasn’t he?
Then it seemed like a thousand voices started speaking to you at once, all from everywhere in a black inky void.
“- The Arkenstone. -”
“- Help him! -”
“- Stop! -”
“- Thorin. -”
“- Don’t leave! -”
No, no none of that was right at all. You didn’t like it one bit. You didn’t like any of these dreams. You had enough.
Tumblr media
You woke, jolting from your place on the cold stone to sit up. Your hand rested on your head, it ached from the sudden movement. You didn’t have to look to know that the warm liquid and partially dried flakes of blood you could feel on your head meant you knocked it on the way down.
But what was that dream? More importantly, where were you?
You shook yourself off, deciding to worry about the dream later, and body willing you’d do the same with your head. You needed to find the others.
A quick swivel on your bum showed you the blazing light of the forges - answering where you were but not how you got there. But more importantly, aside from the hum of the Dwarven machines, all other noise had stopped. How long were you out for? Was the Company all alright?
So you wandered, following your feet. They led you outside the main doors into Erebor and up a nearby hill. Under the cover of night, in the distance, you could see Laketown. Even from there, you could watch as it burnt under the dragon fire from above.
“No.” You shook your head, tears welling in your eyes. “This can’t be right.” You wondered what you did wrong - you wondered why seeing the town burn in your dreams still meant that nothing you did was able to stop it. The innocent people there met with horrible fates - what did you lack of ability to stop that say for what else was to come? How could you save your friends when you weren’t able to save those who mattered less?
“I thought you burned.” Nori said, turning away from the burning town to face you - someone untouched by the same flames. As he looked at you, so did a few others. Thorin was among them. His eyes stayed on yours as he walked closer.
“There is no way you couldn’t have seen this,” he said, refusing to look away even as you shifted on your feet with watery eyes. “You lead us to this.”
“What?” you snapped, “I would do no such thing -”
“I saw you.” Thorin said. He stepped past you, “I saw how it moved, and I saw how you moved. There is no way this is not what you wanted.”
You tried to speak, but your voice caught in your throat. You stepped back, wiping at the blood on your forehead with your sleeve, and took in a deep shuddering breath as you shook your head.
“Even if I knew what you were talking about, you wouldn't listen. I don’t think you ever do.” With that you took your leave, heading further up the mountain to watch Laketown burn. From here there was nothing else you could do. Even now, with much still weighing on your mind for the events to come, you barely believed to hope everything would turn out okay.
Not anymore.

thanks so much!!
Ofc boo! 💛
More than a friend
Pairing: Thorin Oakenshield x NB reader
Description: When Thorin sees you masculine for the first time he realizes how much he truly likes you
Tumblr media
You smile in the loose yet comfortable fitting clothes walking out of the room down the stairs to the rest of the company who complimented how you looked only seeing you in tight or loose feminine clothing this past while. You saw Thorin in the corner of the room staring at you with a small smile making you smile bigger than you already were before by seeing yourself in the mirror and the compliments from everyone else as you all eat breakfast and head out of the inn to continue on your travels to Erebor. You notice thorin looking at you throughout the journey not knowing what to think until you pull him aside in private finally asking him "It's weird isn't it? Me looking like this? I'm sorry" he looks confused shaking his head "No not at all it's different and honestly you look great just as great as you already did before and you helped me realize something of myself" you raise a brow as he smiles sweetly "I realized that what I feel for you is way more than anyone feels about a friend" he leans in slowly until your lips touch in a kiss wrapping your arms around his shoulders as he smiles after pulling away. "When I saw you earlier at breakfast...I realized not only that I truly and undeniably love you but that I am not who I thought I was...you were undeniably lovely in your clothes before but these...these make me want to do things I will not be saying out loud especially if anyone can hear" you both burst out laughing kissing again before rejoining the others who were talking until you see Bilbo looking at the two of you with a fond smile "It seems that two of you are attached" you giggle before turning red when you see his eyeliner looking at thorin's arm wrapped around your waist giving bilbo the finger making him laugh while looking appalled.

"Maybe in the next lifetime, I will be able to love you the same you love me"
Type of fic: Angst
Legolas x Fem!Reader
Warnings: mention of war crimes/invasion, mention of death
Summary: After the ring is destroyed, you recall memories of your life before you appeared here, some of the journeys and adventures you went with Gandalf, the company of Thorin Oakenshield, the Fellowship of The Ring, etc... And suddenly your peaceful moment is disturbed by the elven prince that you knew for more years that you can remember.
P. S. I'm really sorry if this is messy, English isn't my first language 😭
----------------------------------------------------------
You were standing at the edge of the platform, Gondor's palace and the tree of the Kings various meters behind you. It was the day of Aragorn's coronation. Even though the official part of "coronation" was done many hours ago.
You were looking to the stars, remembering all the things you've done and experienced before and after your death in your world. You remembered some of your childhood memories, teenager memories, when you got into the university of Technology and Science. You remembered your death. You remembered how surprised you were when you first got here, into this world. You wasn't that lucky that day, by the way you died and by the time you got here. You were shocked when instead of nothing you saw battlefield. You saw the army of orcs and the army of elves and humans. You were even more surprised when you discovered that you could create anything you know how worked or it's purpose with nothing needed. You remembered how Gandalf, your now old friend, invited you to assist a company of dwarves and a hobbit to reclaim Erebor, but you agreed. You didn't have something to do anyways. You remembered every visit to the Shire with Gandalf. You remembered every Bilbo's birthday. You remembered how the Fellowship of the Ring were formed and how you were surprised that you knew most of the members of the Fellowship personally. You remembered everything you could before hearing footsteps behind you.
After so many years in this world, you already knew who it was, but you couldn't understand why would he leave the party so early. You hoped that it wasn't for what you thought he came here.
"Legolas" You said calmly, not turning even your face to look at him. "What are you doing here?" You asked, turning your face to look at him when he was by your side. "I could ask you the same question, mellon nin" He answered looking at you. You turned your gaze back to the stars. "You know I hate being around so many people, even more if I don't know them" You heard him laugh softly at your answer. You couldn't hide your little smile. You loved moments of peace and you loved them even more if they were spent with dear to you people and Legolas definitely was one of them. Even though you were scared of ruining your friendship with him by rejecting him. You were really surprised when he didn't seem to be in love with Tauriel, witch was very weird to you since you knew that he's supposed to be in love with Tauriel, but instead he seemed to be in love with you. You hoped that you were wrong with your conclusions, but when even Pippin and Merry suspected something, you knew. You were right. And it scared you. You knew that you could never love him the same way, you were just born without that type of interest at anyone. You just hoped that he will forget about his love, but the way his eyes glowed just by looking at you told you that it will be impossible.
His voice was what brought you back to reality. "I know, mellon nin. You couldn't even stand being at the party after we won the battle for Rohan, so it was obvious that you will not be able to be at this party for more than 2 minutes" He said while looking at you with a warm smile and his blue eyes glowing bright. You giggled at his comment which made him smile even more. "Yeah, that's true, but... Why would our dear prince of Mirkwood leave the party? I thought you were going to have another drinking or even eating competition with Gimli" You said as you looked at him with curiosity in your eyes. He turned his gaze to look at the stars. "Actually, I wanted to be more with you and talk about something.." He said after some time of silence. You were quite, looking at him with curiosity, but at the same time with hope that it wasn't what you were thinking. After a minute or so, he talked again "... I wanted to ask you about something, if we specify... Could I braid you hair?" Shit. Your only thought. You knew perfectly what braiding hair mean to elves. There were no going back now. It will be very difficult to joke it off now.
You were looking at Legolas shocked. "Oh Legolas..." You said after a minute of silence. "I'm sorry, but... I cannot answer to you with the same feelings... I'm sorry" You said and you could perfectly see how his face that looked at you with love and adoration looked at you with the same love and adoration just that... There also was sadness in his eyes. You looked at him with the look that tried to say something like 'I'm really sorry for this, but it's better for both of us'. After some minutes of silence you saw that he wanted to say something, but before he could you spoke. "Maybe in the next lifetime, I will be able to love you the same way you love me" After you said that you hugged Legolas. And he hugged you back. After some minutes you pulled back and said "Please, do not waste you love, your tears, your time or anything so dear of you on me. It's not worth it. I'm sure you will find someone who will love you the way you deserve and you will love them too...". Before you could continue Legolas interrupted you by saying " No.. No, I will not be able to find someone who will be at least a little bit close to what you are and the way you make me feel." he said, but now, it was your time to interrupte him "Don't waste your time on me, don't waste your time trying to something, that will never be able to love, to love someone. Please... You will only burn out and fade away. You deserve much more than that.. " You said as you cupped his cheeks and kissed his forehead and then started walking away. You both needed time to recover and not fail to mask your feelings the next time you met. You hope that he will forget those feelings for you soon and find someone he deserves, someone who will love him. And you hoped that by the time you will meet at Valinor, after you will go there with the last board to there with Gandalf, Bilbo, Lady Galadriel and her husband, he will at least not love you so much.
Because you didn't want to hurt him that way. You hoped that in the next time, you will be able to answer his feelings equally.

Princess of Bag End: Lord of the Rings x hobbit teen Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Age: 15. reader is Bilbo's young daughter and heiress. she is very small for her age, knows elvish, and doesn't have big hairy feet like other hobbits but everyone in the shire still loves her except for the Sackvill-baggins because she doesn't look hobbitish (the people nicknaming her the Baggins princess but the Sackvill-Baggins called her daughter of mad Baggins) She is the very youngest member of the fellowship. Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin are very protective of her later on the taller members are protective of her.
You are with your oldest cousin Frodo who is reading while you practiced your archery skills waiting for a certain someone. Your waiting was paid off when you heard the singing of a wizard who quote "Helped." Your father out of the shire 60 years ago.
Tumblr media
(I love this dress from this fem Bilbo art ps your wearing the dress in the beginning) you and Frodo smiled at each other and began running in the direction of the singing. Seeing the Wizard in grey on his wagon you and Frodo came out with Frodo crossing his arms "Your late." Frodo said smirking "A wizard is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to." As he says this Frodo raised his brow while you looked confused "Good morning?" You asked making the wizard chuckle "Just like your father before the journey." the wizard said soon all of you laughed with both of you jumping into the wagon to give the wizard a hug "ITS WONDERFUL TO SEE YOU AGAIN GANDALF." You said happily. On the way to Bag end he told you of what goes on outside the shire you and Frodo told Gandalf he is known as "Disturber of the peace." And that your family use to be well known and respected until he came and gave your father a push "My dear girl I merely gave him a push out of his hole." Gandalf said ruffling your naturally wavy waist length H/C fading to light brown hair 'I bet she and a certain elven prince would get along well.' Gandalf thinks to himself.
Later at night:
You are having an archery contest with a few other young hobbits who love archery, your father is telling Hobbitlings of his adventure with the company of Thorin Oakenshield, Frodo is encouraging Sam to dance with Rosie and Merry and Pippin are up to who knows what.
As your about to shoot another arrow you hear someone shout "DRAGON." You look up to see a dragon shaped firework flying around and heading towards your father and Frodo "DAD! FRODO! LOOK OUT ITS BEHIND YOU." You screamed out but luckily Frodo managed to get Bilbo and himself down. The dragon flew over the lake, into the sky and exploded into fireworks making everyone clap.
It turns out Merry and Pippin fused the firework so Gandalf made them wash the dishes as punishment, Your father was giving his speech but he somehow disappeared "Dad?" You said fearfully looking at Gandalf who looked shocked "Y/N. I fear there is something else he found in the misty mountains during our journey." He said running to Bag end with you following but far behind the oddly fast old wizard.
At Bag end your POV:
I made it to Bag End but as I reached the door I can hear Gandalf yelling on how he's trying to help Dad but soon all fell quiet. I slowly opened the door to see Dad and Gandalf hugging but something wasn't right though "Dad? Gandalf?" I asked "Y/N my dear I have to go, I'm leaving Bag End and this ring to you and Frodo." I was shocked by this but Gandalf stopped him "Bilbo the ring isn't safe here! And Y/N is still a child. She can't handle it." He said gesturing to me "Y/N. My sweet girl. I am going to live in Rivendell from now on. But I will visit as much as I can." He said taking my hands and softly stroking them with his thumbs making me tear up that he's Leaving. "I was saving them for your next birthday but you've waited long enough." He said taking out a gorgeous bow with a quiver of arrows and a beautiful necklace. My eyes went wide in awe and Gandalf sadly smile."The king's jewel. Commonly known as the arkenstone." I said looking at the beautiful necklace "I did take my fourteenth share of the treasure." Dad said clasping it around my neck I immediately hugged him.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
(Bilbo had a small piece of the Arkenstone made into a necklace.)
After the party no one's POV:
Frodo finally came back from the party but he only saw you and Gandalf "Y/N. Where's uncle?" He asked you but before You answered Gandalf  answered him and saying how he needs answers and left.
Later no one's POV :
Tumblr media
(With the necklace above)
You, Frodo and Sam have been walking from the shire for a while with no interruptions aside from Sam's hesitation at the border line "It's alright Sam. Dad said there is nothing to be afraid of." You said in a comforting manner to your Gardener and friend who smiled as all three of you walked until your in a corn field but yelling and barking can be heard followed by your other two older cousins Merridoc Brandybuck and Peregrin Took "ohh look it's Y/N and Frodo Baggins." Pippin said as he landed on Frodo but the chat was stopped as the yelling and barking got louder making you all dash for your lives. You ran until you see a cliff but as Sam ran into you and your cousins making all of you fall down.
Later at Bree:
It was now poring rain by the time the five young hobbits got to Bree and lost the Nazgûl. Getting in was tricky but Frodo said to the man at the gate "Our is business is our own." After they were let in the man pointed them to an inn called the prancing pony. The five young hobbits made it to the inn at this point cold and soaking wet but relieved to be in the warmth. Frodo went to the man at the counter, the man said he has beds just their sizes and Frodo told him his last name was Underhill but when he saw Y/N "She doesn't look like a hobbit." He said gesturing to the young teen hobbit "She's a hobbit. She just doesn't have our big hairy feet." Frodo said explaining why you wear shoes. "Ahhh. Not everyone is born with traits from their race." The man said luckily Frodo changed the topic by asking about Gandalf but the man said he hasn't seen him in six months "Now what do we do Mr Frodo?" Sam asked as Y/N looked around. They are now sitting at a table eating and drinking, well Y/N had salmon with potatoes, spinach and a cup of juice since she doesn't eat meat and is underage as she's eating Pippin said he's getting a pint even though he already has one. Y/N sees a man staring at her, Sam and her cousins. Sam notices as well "That fellow, has done nothing but stared at us since we've arrived." Sam told Frodo who sees the man from the desk walking past their table and asked "that man who is he?" Y/N learned that he was a ranger going by the name Strider but they are dangerous folk. After the man said this Y/N heard the ring whispering "Baggins." Over and over again but she snapped out of the trance when she heard Pippin talking to men and saying "Yes I know a baggins. Two of them infact, they are my second cousins. Frodo from his mothers side and Y/N from her father's side. She's the princess of bag end." As Pippin says this Frodo shots up to grab him but he trips and the ring falls on his finger causing him to disappear. Y/N felt a huge headache blooming in her head but suddenly she was grabbed by the shoulder by the man Strider "You lot are going to be the death of me." He said having a firm grip on the teens arm. Y/N was about to tell him to let her go but then he grabbed Frodo after he took the ring off "you have drawn to much attention to yourself Mr Underhill." He said dragging the two young hobbits.
Your POV:
After the ranger dragged Frodo and I out of the dining room he roughly pushed us into a room with a grunt as I landed Frodo pulled me behind him protectively "what do you want?" He asked the man who started putting out the candles and pulling down his hood "that is no trinket you carry on you." He kept talking about helping us and how we can't wait for Gandalf any longer until Sam, Merry and Pippin came in "LET THEM GO!" Sam shouted out but Frodo and I calmed him down.
Days later:
It had been days since you, Sam and your cousins meet Strider. He was very strict, didn't understand Hobbit meals and was a very strange man but he's a great leader he even carried you since your the youngest and smallest. "He kinda reminds me of Thorin but human." You whispered to yourself remembering your father's stories of his journey "I wonder if we'll meet any of the other members?!" You asked yourself hopefully.
After so much walking your finally resting but Strider said he's taking a look around but not without giving you all weapons "keep them close by, stay here." Then He left.
A few hours later:
You are awaken by Merry, Pippin and Sam talking and the smell of food "what are you doing?" Frodo asked scared then you both ran to the other three Hobbits "Put it out you fools." You said as Frodo started putting out the fire with his feet but the damage was done as screeching was heard.
Everything happened so fast you all ran from the Wraths, you and Frodo are stabbed, Strider came to your rescue, to add insult to injury your six days away from Rivendell but a very beautiful she elf came to take you both to Rivendell "It hurts so bad." You whimpered in elvish "Stay with me little Y/N." She said to you in gentle elvish but you couldn't keep your eyes open and past out.
You wake up to Gandalf''s and Frodo's voices along with another deep voice "Frodo? Gandalf? Where are we?" You asked rubbing your eyes with your small fist "you are in my home little one. Rivendell." Said an elf with dark hair and blue eyes "Rivendell? Are you lord Elrond?" You asked the elf in curiosity making him smile "I am indeed young Baggins." He said your eyes widened in awe. Sam came in and hugged you both making you smile.
You and Frodo walked out of the healing chamber to see Merry and Pippin who hugged you both then you all see Bilbo. Both of you ran to him but you had tears in your eyes you greeted him in elvish making Frodo confused. He said that he wants to visit Mirkwood, lake town and Erebor again but old age has caught up to him.
At the meeting:
It was finally the day of the meeting "Strangers from distant lands, friends of old." Elrond started the meeting you are sitting in between Gandalf and a very handsome elf who looked at you curiously. You waved and smiled politely at him making him smile back.
The meeting didn't go very peaceful a man named Boromir was speaking of the ring like it was some sort of weapon of good then he had the audacity to insult Strider but the elf you sat next to shot up "This is no mere ranger. He is Aragorn son of Arathorn you owe him your allegiance." You were shocked to hear this "Isildur's heir. King of Gondor." You said remembering your father's story on Isildir from years ago making the elf glanced at you "See even the young she-hafling speaks the truth." The elf said "Havo dad Legolas." Strider or as you now know him as Aragorn said to the elf in elvish "Gondor has no king. Gondor needs no king." Boromir said sitting down.
It was confirmed that the ring must be destroyed "Then what are we waited for?" A red haired dwarf asked raising his axe but as he hits the ring with the axe the blade shatters, You ended up getting a splitting head ache, seeing Sauron's eye and hear him whispers "Baggins." Gandalf seeing your destress places a hand on your shoulder while the elf you now know as Legolas had concern on his face along with Elrond and Aragorn "It cannot be destroyed with any weapon created it must be taken to mount doom." You said rubbing your head "You are right Y/N daughter of Bilbo. It must be taken to whence it came." Elrond said giving you an approved smile making everyones eyes widened "She's Bilbo's girl?" a greying red headed dwarf asked in shock "The Bilbo Baggin's who helped reclaim Erebor from Smaug 60 years ago?" Legolas asked you can only blush from all the eyes on you but a huge fight with insults started up not wanting to be in the middle of it you made your way to Frodo both of you stared at the ring. You looked at Frodo, placed your hand on his and gave him a supporting smile he smiled back and rose from his seat "I will take it." He said but no one heard him from the insult throwing "I WILL TAKE IT." He yelled it out causing everyone to stop and listen "I will take it. But I do not know the way." He said Gandalf gladly supported him and offered his help along with Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and Boromir even Merry, Pippin and Sam offered to go "I also offer my Bow, Frodo we were raised together and you have been like a big brother to me. So I to am going on this journey. Also I always wanted an adventure I am part Took after all." As you say this Gandalf and Elrond chuckle at this "10 companions. So be it you are known as the Fellowship of the ring." Elrond said everyone cheered "Great. Where are we going?" Typical Pippin.
After the meeting you and Frodo came to Bilbo's room since it's the last night you see him again. He gave Frodo his sword sting, you dwarven daggers and  both of you methril tunics he described them as light as feathers and as strong as dragon scales and told you to try them on when you came back from putting on your methril tunic you saw Bilbo crying and Frodo having a hand on his shoulder you walked over and hugged him tightly as he hugged back and stroked you hair "I have one more gift for you Y/N it's from your mother." When he said that your eyes widened when he revealed a decorated comb "She wanted me to give it to you when we won't be able to see each other," when he said that he but it on the back of your head.
Tumblr media
The next day you all left Rivendell early. After walking for hours you're all resting on a cliff. Sam had made lunch, Boromir was training with Merry and Pippin while Aragorn watched, Gandalf and Gimli were talking, Legolas was on watch and you were training with your bow unaware of the elven prince watching you from his post.
Legolas saw that you almost surpassed him in archery when he saw you shooting at the training dummies and getting perfect shoots he smiled fondly at you and decided to join in "May I join you young Baggins?" He asked making you smile "Of course master elf." You said to the elven Prince getting your arrows while he takes out his bow unaware of a chuckling wizard "I knew they would get along well." He told Gimli "I still can't believe she's the daughter of the Bilbo Baggins." The dwarf said looking at you as you and the elf prince shot arrows while bonding.
Days later:
It was late noon your all getting exhausted from the walking and fighting you all did "We will stop here and rest for the night." Gandalf said sitting on a log.
You set up camp for the night "Plus you all need baths desperately." Gandalf said fanning himself with his hat.
Your in the lake washing the dirt, grime and dried blood off your cloths, body and hair with your jasmine Scented soap, shampoo and conditioner. After you finished bathing you, Sam and your cousins are all wrapped in blankets while you're clothes sun dried (which shouldn't be long) and Legolas, Aragorn, Gimli and Boromir bathed while the sun was out.
After your clothes dried Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin and yourself got dressed as you got dressed Gimli called out "By my beard the lass is the very smallest out of all of us." He said gesturing to your curvy figure. It is true you are smaller then other hobbits your age one of the reasons Lobelia Sackvill Baggins hates you because she's jealous of your appearance. Natural wavy waist length H/C fading to brown hair, Gorgeous almond shaped E/C eyes, tear drop shaped face, S/T skin and your curvy body.
She always tried to make awful rumors about you being adopted but no one ever believed her.
When the others saw this they are taken aback "I don't really eat meat master Gimli I prefer fish." You told your senior members who are in shock "It's true! She doesn't eat meat or any animal product." Sam said "Aye but she makes a mean stuffed salmon back at home." Pippin said "And vegan soup." Merry said "I thought she looked small for her age." Boromir said "I get that a lot." You said taking out your brush from your quiver and running it through your hair "Oh I'll help you Y/N." Legolas said grabbing the brush and helping you redo your hair.
Everyone is sitting around the fire with you sitting in front of Legolas as he continues on your hair "By the Valar Y/N you have long hair for a hobbit." He said redoing your braids with your hair tie in his mouth while you held the decorated hair comb your father gave you "Aye every hobbit girl wishes for her hair." Frodo said "Remember when Lobelia Sackvill Baggins tried to cut it for Yule day?." Sam asked making everyone laugh but you confused "I don't remember that." You said making Frodo chuckle "You were a toddler when that happened." He said "Aye uncle Bilbo was so furious he had to hide the scissors from her." Merry said laughing very hard from the memory "and the knives." Pippin said "along with his mother's silver spoons." Sam chimed in "Dad has always been protective of grandmother's things." You said as you gave the comb to Legolas who had his hand outstretched for it "I've been meaning to asked! where did you get that necklace from?" Boromir asked gesturing to your Arkenston necklace making the others curious "Ohh Dad gave it to me before he left Bag end." You said unclasping the necklace from your neck so everyone can see but a chocking gasp was herd from Gimli "By my beard the arkenstone." Gimli said in shock "The kings jewel." Boromir said stroking the white gem "Boromir." Aragorn said snapping Boromir out of his jewel sickness "I forgot you had that, Bilbo deeply treasured that half of the stone." Gandalf said fondly from the memories after the Battle of the Five Armies "It was given to him by the members of the company after Thorin's, Fili's and Kili's funeral." Gandalf said blowing a smock ring in the air "I owe those dwarves an apology 60 years over due." Legolas said telling his junior members of his meeting with the company of Thorin Oakenshield "It's hard to imagine you being that way Legolas." You said making Sam and your cousins nod in agreement making the big folk smile down at you five until you and the boys yawned "I think that's enough stories for the little ones for one night." Gandalf said taking his turn on watch "Aww but we're not sleepy yet." You said trying to hold in your yawns but failed miserably making
Legolas, Aragorn, Boromir and Gimli chuckle "Nice try little archer but it's way past your bedtime young lady." Aragorn said picking up Frodo and Sam while Boromir picked Merry and Pippin up and Legolas picked you up. Each of you are placed in a pile but before leaving "Ye better take their weapons." Gimli said eyeing the hobbits weapons still attached to them "the dwarf is right." Boromir said taking Merry's and Pippin's daggers, Aragorn took Sting and Sam's daggers and Legolas took your bow, quiver and dwarven daggers "What a unique bow and arrows." Legolas said eyeing the bow and arrows in awe as he held them while Gimli looked at the daggers "The lass has great taste in weaponry." He said twirling one in his hand.

Bilba Baggin is a hobbit, her grandfather is a wizard named Gandalf. Her peaceful life was interrupted by thirteen dwarfs, although she's happy that she can finally go on adventures, but don't forget that she's also a hobbit who love peace and stability! Not being chase by giant spiders or goblins!
What Bilba never expect was capturing the attention of men, dangerous men who quickly fall in love with her and everything about her. Whether it's elves, men, dwarfs, valar, orc, or even the dark lord, they stare at her with obsession much to Bilba's oblivion.
Gandalf, who was piping his smoke, sneered: As if they're going to get his granddaughter!
Bilba, who was happily cooking in her kitchen, shivers: Hmm?...why is it suddenly cold?
