Hiatus

Hello all, it has been a minute. What a year it’s been! I have made a few major moves across the country and finally I am settled in a job that I’ve wanted for years! However, with all of the upheaval over the last year, my mental health has spiralled into a pretty bad place lately. I’ve decided that I need to take a step back from some things until I’m in a better mental state and I’m not going to be putting too much pressure on myself. So, with that being said, I am putting a pause on my patreon for the next few months and won’t be taking any commissions for a while. Just a bit of an explanation for some of the radio silence that’s been happening and will be continuing for a bit. ❤️ I’ll still be lurking around, supporting all my friends here that I’ve been so lucky to make over the last two years. Hopefully I get into a place where I can post a couple drawings now and then, cause at the end of the day I love drawing, and I want to feel good about that again.

The Mark: An InuKog Story Now live on Ao3!

Hi everyone! I am very pleased to bring you a special story (of sorts) for @inu-mothership​‘s Fleet Week Day 4: Submarine Ship Day. It’s for a ship that truly snuck up on me: InuKog. I really love writing them, because you can do so many different things, like...this little dark story, featuring a vampire Inuyasha and a werewolf Kōga!

This one is SUPER dark (like when I went back and reread it, yeah, it’s pretty damn dark), so please do heed the tags. But if you like a little bit of horror, I hope you enjoy!

Um, hello.

I have a new story...the first chapter of “Kotodama” is now on AO3.

I really, really like the premise of this story, and I hope you all do too. Thank you to @ruddcatha for the encouragement, and Rascal and @fawn-eyed-girl for beta’ing this chapter.

Summary: But the longer she didn’t speak, the more Inuyasha wanted to know what the voice that went with her scent was like. It was weird, and abnormal, and he didn’t know why he couldn’t stop thinking about it. And by the final period, in which he felt wound so tight, his claws were wearing little grooves into the wood and he’d retained even less math, science, kanji and history than usual, he’d decided. If nothing else, she was something new and interesting. Something he couldn’t predict, couldn’t figure out, couldn’t block from invading his nose, his ears, his mind.Someone he needed to know more about.

So he would be the one to get Kagome Higurashi to talk.

A modern InuKag friends-to-lovers, high school AU with powers, gangsters, words that mean more than words, and a cross-class romance.

Sango in the Onsen

Whooooops look who crawled out from under her rock with art. Life’s been rough this year and I’m finally starting to have some time and energy to do things I like again. I probably won’t be posting regularly but I am slooowly getting back into drawing again. Next will be finishing a long overdue WIP of my fav girls.

BUT first I wanted to show the best girl some love to ease myself back in as I haven’t done that much and she deserves it in all her muscley glory. I actually started her *ages and ages* ago and never finished her so I went back and spruced her up and I’m really happy with how she came out. I like to imagine she’s having a moment of quiet reflection to herself while her bathing companion is just absolutely losing it looking at her (whomever that companion may be is up to you! 😏)

The Debutante and the Dog: Chapter 6, now live on Ao3!

Hi everyone! It's been a little while, but @ruddcatha and I are thrilled to bring you the next chapter of The Debutante and the Dog, which is a gift for @cannibalsforbreakfast 🥰

In this chapter, lots happens! Inuyasha goes into protective mode over Kagome during the wedding ceremony, and later, meets the rest of her family. He also realizes that his feelings for Kagome might go deeper than ten thousands dollars, and is completely and totally unsure of how to handle that.

Summary: Sesshomaru craves peace above all things, and love is messy, so he believes. He knows the day is coming when he will meet his soulmate, though circumstances have made it so that day needs to come much quicker. But will his blessedly quiet life be turned upside down by this mystery person? Only in the best way.

Sesshomaru’s apartment was neat and tidy, sparsely decorated, uncluttered, small.

Sesshomaru’s job was quiet and unbothered, his cubicle organized and orderly, his coworkers respectful of his space.

Sesshomaru’s life was a series of predictable patterns that kept things as peaceful as possible.

Few messes, no fights, little in the way of squabbles and dramas and shenanigans, it was peace, just like he liked.

His mother may be on his case about pups, and his step mother may have fretted about his lack of friends outside the family, and his father may have been concerned about how unengaged he could be with… everything… but a little loneliness and boredom was worth it if everything else in his life was exactly how he liked it.

Unremarkable.

Simple.

Easy.

‘But how will you meet your soulmate if you never talk to anyone?’ Izayoi would ask at every family dinner, growing more and more intrusive in her worry now that his half-brother had met his soulmate, but such things just weren’t a consideration for him.

What if his soulmate was loud and unseemingly? What if they chewed with their mouth open or slurped their tea at an unacceptable decibel? What if they put the toilet paper on the roll the wrong way around?

The variables were too many to worth risking.

He sighed and looked in his bathroom mirror, scowling at the hair that had fallen out of place.

He took a moment to smooth it all back out, straighten his sweater, pick a piece of lint off his pants, and then checked his phone, which had chimed about 5 minutes prior.

‘Hope you like cinnamon! The cookies will be coming out of the oven right as you get here!’

He smiled softly, and typed out a response before grabbing his keys and heading out the door.

The drive to his brother’s house was not far from his apartment, which was a good thing for him.

Any more time alone and he would talk himself right out of what he was about to do, and he was no coward.

Usually.

This was just…. An uncomfortable topic of conversation.

As it was, he was only going through with it because his brother was working late, so his sister-in-law would be alone.

Despite his taciturn nature, he liked his sister-in-law.

She was respectful of his space and non judgemental- she’d have to be to tolerate his ill mannered half-brother for all eternity- and if he was honest… he was desperate.

He hoped beyond hope she’d have some kind of solution that so far no one else had had.

The drive was tense, and he wanted it over as soon as possible, but he obeyed every traffic law, keeping volume on his playlist of classical music turned low enough so as not to dull any noises of fellow drivers or sirens.

It barely helped to soothe his nerves, and he found himself tapping his fingers against his steering wheel, a bothersome habit he’d tried and failed to kick multiple times.

He sighed in relief when he pulled into the driveway, walking swiftly to the door where he took a moment to collect himself before knocking politely.

Kagome had already texted him that he could walk on in, but he would certainly not be so familiar with someone else’s home.

She greeted him with a sparkling smile and instantly he felt a little more at ease, the scent of bubbling stew and sweet baked goods making him feel a little less like he was walking to his doom.

It took a lot of the edge off.

“Alright, spill. What’s been on your mind?” She asked, handing him a cup of tea and sitting across from him at the table.

He sighed and watched the steam rise from the cup.

“The wedding is coming up,” he explained, and she nodded. Since his distant cousin had sent out the invites, his father and mothers had been on his tail nearly every day about finding someone to bring, or perhaps meeting someone there. There had been a host of unsuitable women paraded in front of him, unexpected guests at family dinners and attempts to force him into disastrous blind dates, all in the hopes he would choose one, or perhaps find that long lost soul mate he’d still yet to find.

He’d even heard them worry that perhaps he didn’t have one at all.

That was rare, of course, but then his father had two soulmates, and that was rarer still.

Perhaps rare soul occurrences happened genetically?

If only there was some way to tell, then they’d finally leave him alone.

“Yeah, your family’s been… pretty overwhelming, huh?”

“Overwhelming is a very polite way to put it, Kagome. I admire your sense of diplomacy.”

She giggled and and stood to go stir her stew, taking a small taste and adding some salt.

“Almost ready! Hope you’re hungry.”

“I will be.”

“Good! Now, about your problem. You don’t want them setting you up because you don’t trust their judgment, right?”

“Hn.”

“Well then you’ve come to the right place. I have a coworker I think you’d get along with. I’ll invite you both over to dinner to see if you think she’d be a good match for the wedding. No pressure, no awkward dates, no blindsiding. And she’ll be completely aware of everything, so you won’t risk hurting her feelings.”

He frowned skeptically, but she waved him off.

“Trust me, Kikyo is a very practical woman. If you decide you can’t get along for the wedding, she won’t be bothered.”

“If you say so.”

The door unlocked, and Inuyasha came sweeping in the house, dropping his briefcase by the door and taking off his suit jacket.

“Baby, I’m ho-holy shit it’s you.”

“Inuyasha! Don’t be rude! He came over for dinner!”

“I ain’t being rude! But no one wants to see that bastard’s sour face after a long day!”

“How was that not rude?!”

“He knows I don’t mean it like that!”

“You are so impossible.”

As they squabbled, Sesshomaru took a sip of his tea, chuckling quietly at the sight of Inuyasha being put in his place but a small, angry, human woman.

This was certainly not the kind of life he would want all the time, far too loud and chaotic for his tastes.

But at least the food was good.

He slammed the lint roller back down on the counter and stepped away, forcing himself to slow and calm and center.

He was fidgeting.

He hated fidgeting.

But a lot was riding on this dinner with Kagome’s coworker going well.

He just needed her to be nice and quiet enough to get though one wedding so his parents would leave him the hell alone for a little while longer.

He trusted Kagome’s judgement that the woman was not shrill or clingy or dramatic,but Kagome also tended to see the best in the people she liked, and he was no exception.

It was very possible that he got on well enough with this Kikyo woman, but that she would not like him.

He could be hard to like, he knew.

And then he’d be back to square one.

He sighed and straightened his sweater one more time.

There was nothing for it.

It was time to go and face his fate.

He was just glad it was happening at Kagome and Inuyasha’s house instead of somewhere public and full of prying eyes.

The drive was uneventful, and he arrived before his “date” so he had time to sit and acclimate to the environment, grow comfortable and calm, and think about something else for a while as Kagome and Inuyasha told him stories about their places of work.

And then doorbell rang.

“Oh! That’ll be Kikyo. Remember Sesshomaru, no pressure to like her at all, this is not really a set up. We’re all just having dinner.”

He stood to greet the new guest, as was only polite, and he could track their progress back to the kitchen by their small talk.

They rounded the corner, and he was struck by her.

Serious brown eyes, long, silky hair, delicate features, she was certainly lovely to behold, and her scent was subtle and soft.

“Kikyo this is my brother Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru, Kikyo.”

He reached out and took her hand in a polite greeting, and when their hands clasped the world stopped.

He’d had to listen far too many times to the tales of what happened when soulmates found one another.

It was something unique to each pairing, reflecting their individual personalities and future dynamics.

When his father met his wives, there had been fine string music the first time, and clanging symbols the next.

When Inuyasha met Kagome, there had been fireworks and trumpets.

And for each of them, the world fell away as the red string of fate glowed around them and tied them together.

He waited for the music, for the noise, for the riotous sound of fate crashing into him and changing forever the course of his life, but as the string of his soul and hers zipped around them and signaled their new path, all Sesshomaru heard was quiet.

Still, silent, so blessedly perfect and peaceful, the most full and complete quiet he’d always looked for and never found.

Images of quiet comfort flitted jointly through their minds, of snowy mountains and hot tea, soothing beaches and good books, long walks enjoying the treasures of nature, promises of happiness in the calm, fulfillment in stillness, everything he’d searched for and more.

He released Kikyo’s hand and cleared his throat.

“It is a pleasure to-“ they began at once, twin washes of pale pink staining their cheeks, and Inuyasha snorted in the background.

“Well I’ll be damned.”

“Oh… I’m so happy!!!” Arms wrapped around his waist, Kagome’s happiness overriding her usual respect of his distaste for physical affection.

But this time he didn’t mind.

She swept around him and gave Kikyo a hug as well, babbling a million miles an hour about how she couldn’t believe it, she was so happy, how lucky they all were, how much she loved both of them, and Kikyo’s gaze immediately became an oasis of calm in the chaos.

Warmth settled over him, even as Inuyasha pulled his wife away and encouraged her to let them go and “figure it out.”

They left with a box of cookies and thermos of tea that they both found too sweet to drink.

“There is a tea place a block from here.” She said, and the sound of her voice was warm and melodious.

Lovely.

“Yes. I rather enjoy that place.” He answered.

“Shall we?”

Her face in the moonlight was even more striking than in the harsh, overhead light of the living room, and he felt his heart pick up a little.

A walk through the night air sounded lovely.

He held out his arm, and she rested her hand in the crook of his elbow.

A soft touch, a perfect fit.

“We shall.”
