hey! i SEA you seem to like ocean life, so if you haven't heard of them, i'd like to introduce you to the threadfin snailfish!
Tumblr media
Haha thank you for introducing me to this little friend!! I didn鈥檛 know them before but I was so excited about having this in my inbox I went and looked them up!
They鈥檙e called a snail fish bc they produce a gelatinous slime to keep them buoyant in the water since they lack a swim bladder like other fish! How cool!! Slimy friend!
(Also I love puns!!)

Threadfin Snailfish
Careproctus longifilis
The Threadfin Snailfish resembles a prehistoric tadpole that is ghostly white. The holes in its face are large sensory pores that help them detect changes in the ocean. It is often found at depths between 1900 to 2997 meters.聽
