Hiya, Magical Cuties!! As some of y’all may know, my name is Rini, the queer clown running this circus of a shopping blog. I've been going through a lot of emotional and financial turmoil. Through a series of unfortunate events, my family has lost half of our income, and we are heavily struggling with paying every possible bill. It was my intention to get my much needed dental work out the way on the final year of being on insurance and move out of state but I don't think that's feasible anytime soon anymore. My income from my job and passive income from this blog isn't quite enough to supplement the income that was lost.

As a result, I’m selling off new/unused to lightly used clothing from my family's closets, which include both “feminine” and “masculine” clothing that range from sizes XS-5XL with a lot of it $10-20 and under. I list these items on multiple platforms (vinted, depop, poshmark and mercari) and graciously accept tips, all of those links can be found here!! Everything needs to go ASAP so my family and I can downsize!! I’d really appreciate it so much if you could check out my shop and consider purchasing. Carbon dating tells us these Alden ( Made in the USA) shoes are approximately 43 years old.

In the words of ODB, “They costed a lot of money” back then and I remember debating if I could justify the expense. Turns out they were worth it.

And no, I am not “preppy”. As I explain on my Instagram, I am cheap. That’s all. Just a cheapskate who has always dressed not to offend ( OK, I DID have a short Gram Parsons era in high school).

Point being, neither my clothing nor my shoes end up in landfills. When my shoes wear out, I have them resoled. When shirts become threadbare I use them as polishing cloths. You know, for the heavy brown furniture from your grandparents home circa 1900?

Yeah, I avoid buying new furniture, too.

@covairecitystarters The after math of the bombings had left Harlow's head spinning. She'd never experienced anything like it before. Although she spent her teenage years scared out of her wits by what she had thought were hallucinations from sleep paralysis, the bombings had unlocked a fear she never thought she'd feel. She'd been lucky in that she'd gotten out with a few scrapes and bruises, nothing super major. She had a scratch above her right eye that was surrounded by a green bruise, she had bruises going up and down her arms, dotting her legs here and there. She'd rolled her ankle running from downtown and back to her flat, so she had a slight limp.

She'd thought of Covaire as a relatively safe place, at least from where she was standing. Granted, she'd only been a citizen of Covaire for about 6 or 7 months. Her job at Piece of Cake was the first actual job she'd had her entire life. She'd always had her parents to prop her up, to support her while she tried her best to deal with what doctors had called "her schizophrenia." Hah. What would they have thought if she'd stuck around and told them she'd woken up in the morgue after her jump from the window? Damn...opportunity missed.

As she walked through Thrifty, she sighed to herself. She never thought she'd have to be shopping at a thrift store at this point in her life, but...here she was. She bit her lip as she thought back to all the couture pieces she has in her closet from what feels like a bygone era. "Ohhh...but this is cute..." she said outloud, a habit from her childhood. "Hmm...not so bad." She said, turning to the person next to her. "This is my first time in here. Figured some retail therapy would do some good after...you know...everything that happened. All the crazy. Did you make it out okay?"

"What On Earth Is SchoolRust?"

Glad you asked! SchoolRust is an aesthetic (titled by me) focused on places and things that are old, abandoned, or forgotten, and most of all macabre. The locations are typically those that have decayed or broken down over time, and places that have an odd sense of nostalgia to them. I also like to put an emphasis on places that have been greatly affected by industrialization, like factories, urban settings, schools, power plants, stores, etc.... wherever you might find a chainlink fence and rusted machinery, basically. Overall: the contrast of things that are soft and nostalgic vs things that are cold, worn down, and dreary. A slowly decaying childhood home with a cell tower looming over it, or a school playground covered in rust on a rainy day, are some images that come to mind; thus the name. Other aspects of the aesthetic include old toys, outdated decor/architecture, thrifty and macabre clothes, as well as things that might remind you of urban legends and late 2000s-early 2010s creepypasta culture. Both the horror and comfort of the past are very welcome here.

A lot of this aesthetic was inspired by both my interest in online horror (both as a kid and as an adult), as well as growing up in a low income area with many abandoned or outdated buildings and odd places to explore, so it's definitely a bit of a personal and hyperspecific niche; but I hope other people like it too! Maybe we can share in our experiences, and our love of the strange, forgotten, and familiar. ♥

Strawberry Frozen Yoghurt

It might be the first day of Autumn in Aotearoa today; but the sun was out, high and hot in Auckland this arvo! The perfect weather to enjoy this simple as yet very good Strawberry Frozen Yoghurt. Happy Thursday!

Ingredients (serves 2):

half a dozen medium, ripe Garden Strawberries

2 teaspoons caster sugar

180 grams/ounces plain Greek Yoghurt

Thoroughly rinse Strawberries under cold water. Drain them well in a colander.

Dice Strawberries, and place them in a bowl. Sprinkle with caster sugar, and give a good stir, to mix and coat Strawberries in sugar.

Place the bowl in the refrigerator, 1 hour, occasionally tossing the Strawberries.

Then, add Greek Yogurt to the bowl, and gently stir to mix, allowing the Strawberry syrup to swirl into the Yoghurt.

Spoon mixture into a freezable container and close well. Place in the freezer, for at least 3 hours.

Serve Strawberry Frozen Yoghurt with fresh Strawberries, if desired.
