🐞 If you haven't watched this movie, you're doing a disservice to yourself. I liked it so much that I wanted to read the original book; Maria Beetle マリアビートル by Kōtarō Isaka. I'm excited to finally read this! Also, thanks Jason for gifting it to me ☺️☺️ 🐞 I also have to pick up "Three Assassins" since it was just translated to English!

(Your POV)
Stage…lights…and then the curtain opened.
I stood there, the gun i held firmly pointing at Mr Rouge who laid lifeless on the floor, the stage lights brightening those horrifying blue eyes that lifelessly stared at me.
I couldn’t move, I couldn’t speak. It suddenly became hard to breathe. A singular drop of sweat fell from my face as my hearing was overwhelmed by ringing.
I felt them screaming as all of their eyes were on me. The thousands of people who always adored and lived for our show were now screaming, crying, running out of the theatre in fear of the tragedy that happened behind curtains, everything went slow, i was loosing myself.
T-perine, the acrobat slowly ran to me, her face contorting and her mouth spitting as she tried to shake me awake. Her colourful pompoms swaying along side her dark curls as her white outfit was stained by the droplets of Mr Rouge’s blood the moment he got shot in the head. The moment I shot him in the head.
She shook me, she screamed my name over and over again, i couldn’t turn to her, i couldn’t face her after what i’d done. I just stared at his eyes, his blue eyes, his lifeless blue eyes that pierced my soul. The same eyes i shot a bullet in between after learning my secret, my sacral lie. I couldn’t let him have it.
He didn’t have to die..
I didn’t have to shoot him…
I just couldn’t. I couldn’t.
I couldn’t let him live after knowing what i did.

Things I think would fit great into the Suspense novel I am too scared to write: - A weirdly described moon - Figures in windows who are as tall as them (I bet no one you know IRL is tall enough to have their heads in line with the upper frame, right?) - Doves fleeing as soon as the MC enters the place - A woman that only appears when MC is alone. Is she real? Is she shy? - A person who exactly seems to know your plot and makes comments, but only if you read the book you know that they make sense - and you begin to realize that that right there is probably the fourth-wall-break-narrator

Just finished The Hunt by T. J. Lebbon.
I absolutely loved it! I can only describe it as a mixture of a human fox hunt and Kill Bill.
The jumps between points of view can be a bit jarring or puzzling, but overall it's really good! I highly recommend it!
(Also, at the time I'm writing this, this book is so unknown/unread that it lacks a picture and summary on goodreads. Huh.)

YOU LOVE ME (2021) BY CAROLINE KEPNES SPOILER FREE BOOK REVIEW:
I have been meaning to do this for a month now so bear with me! I wanted to finish it in time for the fourth installment to come out and I’m SO REEAAADYY FOR MORE JOE GOLDBERG CONTENT <3
SPOILER REVIEW HERE
My Score Chart:
0 Stars = Hate it/ Regret reading it
1 Star = Meh, not for me
2 Stars = Ok/ neutral
3 Stars = I liked it
4 Stars = I loved it
5 Stars = One of my favorite books ever!
Overall Rating and Basic Summary: 3.5 Stars
Out of the three You books I have read [as the fourth installment, For You and Only You (2023) just came out in April and I haven’t had a chance to start it yet] this is my second favorite. My favorite is the first book in the series, You (2014) [4 stars], and my least favorite so far is Hidden Bodies (2016) [3 stars]. If you are a fan of the first two books or the tv show I would recommend reading it, however, book 3 and season 3 are completely different in almost every way possible, so make sure you can separate them. I read You Love Me after completing season 3 so I was able to keep them apart. However, if I had read the book first, I may have been nitpicking the series for diverging so much from the text. YET, in the show’s defense, season 3 was filmed before book 3 came out, hence the major differences of the storylines and character arcs.
Similarities and Differences to the season 3 of the tv series (sans major spoilers other than basic plot and character definition):
While the tv show follows the first two books pretty closely, season 3 takes place in California in a small suburban town where Joe and Love are married and raising their newborn son, Henry. Love just opened a bakery and Joe is working at the local library. Murder ensues and lots of cheating and scandal yada yada. His main love interest outside of Love is a librarian named Marienne who has a past of substance/ drug abuse and is doing her best to remain clean to gain custody of her elementary-school aged daughter. Instead, in the book, Joe is living without Love and Henry in Washington state and he is working at a library. Of course, he soon becomes interested in his librarian boss named Mary Kay DiMarco.
Other than Marienne and Mary Kay both working in libraries, being mothers, and having names that start with “M,” they are completely different characters. Also, all the annoying neighbors and cheating storylines from season 3 don’t exist in the book which I am grateful for since I couldn’t stand those aspects. Regardless, the last episode of the season 3 of the tv show was wild and I enjoyed it.
In the novel, we have a bunch of new characters for Joe to interact with. Mary Kay has two toxic friends, Melanda and Seamus aka “Shortus” plus a has-been rock n’roll husband with infidelity issues, Phil. Of course, Joe doesn’t approve of any of these people in her life and makes moves to remove them. He sees himself as a soon-to-be step-dad who is making life better for Mary Kay and her teenage daughter, Nomi whom he calls “Meerkat.” In this version, Love and baby Henry are in and out of Joe’s life as well as the Quinn’s kinda-sorta-hit-man, Oliver.
Without giving spoilers as to who lives and who dies, I thought that the build-up of the plot was a bit slow until about 100-150 pages which felt very heavy on the exposition of what happened between books two and three. Once the first character is in Joe’s grasp, I began to get interested. The strength of this book was absolutely the climax. The last 100 pages were an absolute WILD ride and I felt like I was truly on a rollercoaster with the back-to-back twists. It’s really hard to surprise me with a twist, so this was excellent!
I feel like I can’t really give the book characters reviews out of 5 because Joe’s perspective of everyone is so skewed. I disliked most of the new characters, but I am not sure how much of that is due to their actual personalities or Joe’s extreme loathing of them. Either way, making a reader feel those emotions is an indicator of good writing since it shows realistic, flawed characters.
Would I recommend reading this book?
YES, but only if you read the other two first. I don’t think you have to watch the show to enjoy the books, but Joe references past characters often and I think it’s important to read the prior two books to understand his psyche.
Would I read this book again?
Honestly, I sort of want to re-read it already because I just finished season 4 of the series and I just can’t get enough of Joe. Perhaps after I finish book 4 I’ll read them all again.

A Voice From the Stars Chapter 7 is now available on my website!
A Voice from the stars is a free crime/thirller/mystery serial web novel posted on authorkimberlygrey.com with new chapters every sunday.
Alex Maxwell is walking home from school on a rainy afternoon when he disappears. His foster father says that he simply never made it home, when his backpack is found by the river, everyone assumes the worst.
The truth is that Alex is alive, and he’s been reunited with his birth father. Whether he wanted to be or not.
“We’re not going to hurt you, or do anything bad. We’re just–” Ryan sighs and puts a hand over his mouth, like he’s thinking, or trying to hold something in. He takes a deep breath. “I know you’re scared,” he says finally, “and confused. I–I don’t really know how to say this.” he laughs, a little self deprecatingly. “I practiced it a thousand times, but now that the moment is here…”
Alex has no fucking clue what that’s supposed to mean, but he doesn’t think its anything good. Why did Ryan practice saying something to him a thousand times?  Alex already knows that he was fucking–stalking him or something. His dinner sits in a hard lump in his stomach. He swallows forcefully to keep it down.
“My last name is Case,” Ryan says.
What?
“….okay?”
Ryan sighs and runs a hand over his face. “I’m sorry. Let me try again. You–Do you know how long you’ve been in foster care?”
“All my life,” Alex says warily.
“Not all of it,” Ryan says in a choked whisper. “You were taken when you were two months old. You–Your last name is Case, too, Alex.”
Reblogs encouraged and appreciated!

CHAPTER - 6
The Chaos
The next day...
"Bloody Wierdo" August murmured to himself, While gazing at the ceiling. He couldn't able to sleep properly, his mind is filled with the murders and victim's bloody bodies, all he have to do is catch the serial killer, who is the reason behind of all this scenes...
After some time...
A loud thunders are happening outside of the August house, the weather is quite dark and the flashes are illuminating like a sparkles. August is living at the corner of the town, where no one can locate his home. August came outside of his house, it's very cold outside.
AUGUST WALKER P.O.V
I saw a bear figure at the backside of the tree, I approached to that side. I can barely see what is in the hands of that figure. So I became very protective for myself and questioned that thing.
"Hello?"
No response.
"Hello, is anyone there?" I questioned again.
Still No response.
When I about to turn, I got hurt by the hammer on the face, I groaned and immediately took the pistol and started to shoot at the knee or arms of that figure. But, I am unable to concentrate. Then sudden flashes of victim bodies are wandering in my mind and then I became angry and unbreakable and started to punch him with my hard fists.
That figure fell down and I took this opportunity and started to unfold his face mask, but that figure stopped and stabbed me with the knife in my chest.
"ARGH!!!" I yelled and shot him  in the knees.
"UGH!!UGH!!! FUCK!!!" the figure groaned.
As soon as the voice came from that figure, it was a male voice. I stumbled myself and unwrapped the face mask.
"HAHAH! YEYY! AUGUST!!! MY DEAR AUGUST WALKER. SON OF JONATHAN WALKER AND DIANA WALKER" man said.
"This is not the correct time to start the conversation, my dear CRIMSON PARKER?" I whispered.
"How do you know my name?" parker surprised.
"Well, that is not the point"
"IT IS!" parker yelled.
"I know, how to shut your dirty mouth" and THEN DISHOOM..... I punched him on his face.
"HELP ME!!!! HELP ME!!!" I heard parker voice from the cellar. I tied his hands ,legs and kept him in the dark cellar, where there is no proper ventilation.
"Why you are yelling? Shall i feed you with my punches and beatings?HUH?"
"YEAH, PLEASE!!!"
"You fucking bastard! Why? Why you are doing this? What is that supposed to mean? TELL EVERYTHING or else I am gonna rip out of each and every organ from your body and I won't even let you die, you will be laying as a lifeless human and you will be praying to the god, to take your life, instead of this torture!" I whispered to him.
"OH! IS IT? Will you say this to your daughter, MISS WALKER? RIGHT??"

My brain is telling me that I should re-read Pet Sematary and Misery next month.
My favorite part of Pet Sematary is the perfect building of anticipation, because yes, I know something bad is gonna happen. I've watched the movie. I've read the book at least twice. But I can never remember the exact moment when things go sour, so the bits of dreadful foreshadowing still get to me.
Misery is like a half dream, half nightmare that you get when you're running a really high fever and all you can do is lay in the bed and watch flies dance on the ceiling above your head. Suddenly you're unnerved because you can't tell the difference between the horrors of reality and your weird fever dream, and it's almost like waking up in a different time period.
