OK, OK, but can we PLEASE talk about this look on Nick’s face right after he orders his men to take Fred to his impending death?
because those eyes, those hard, rage-filled, victorious eyes hold all of the moments Nick wanted to murder Fred but couldn’t?
Obviously Fred’s murder and the catharsis belongs to June and all of the women who claimed agency through his death but the thing about Nick being attuned to June and devoted to June and in love with June is that his catharsis and his sense of victory comes with her catharsis and sense of victory, one doesn’t exist without the other. This isn’t to say that he hadn’t despised Fred before June, as many people have stated, I believe that after the first “Offred” committed suicide Nick saw Fred for who he really was, but this night belonged to June, Nick knew it, Nick helped plan it and the man that caused the woman he loves so much pain is about to die at her hand and Nick’s eyes
are like, and I have the power - the power you thought I didn’t and couldn’t have - to support her triumph through your destruction. And I just think that’s fucking awesome.
thank you @skyshipper and @splitscreen for the gifs!
