Getting mad about Thumbelina reviews again. Seeing reviews where they dismissively describe her as just wanting to meet an equally tiny boy to fall in love with and I’m just… 1) Wanting to find someone to be in a committed romantic partnership is a completely valid desire that many people have, not a sign that someone is shallow or frivolous and 2) while Thumbelina’s specific fantasies are about romance, it is abundantly clear that the underlying desire is one for community; she is afraid she is the only person like her (in this case tiny) in the entire world and would like some assurance that she is not actually alone.
