There are some plants I just always refer to by...
i thought trying to learn the latin for all the plants at my old greenhouse would be hard, the real pain was having to also mentally catalog like seventeen folksy nicknames per plant plus then for each nickname a list of unrelated plants that customers often call by that wrong nickname like ugh I love plants but selling plants to people sucks
Yeah the real fun shit is when somebody says “oh the plant was tall and had purple flowers and I think it started with a G??” and you have to guess what they mean. Or when somebody just straight up cannot pronounce the plant they’re trying to ask about and you have to do some mental calculations trying to figure that shit out without insulting them. Or when someone asks what something is and you tell them the latin name and they go “Huh??” and you have to try to remember the common name because that’s easier to say or else just repeat the latin name 10 times and they go “haha yeah, I don’t know what that is” but I just told them.
