new hozier releases are always so frustrating for me because the music is always GREAT and he's such an attentive and radical lyricist but people are absolutely hellbent on misinterpreting what he writes as generic love songs. this also happened with Nina Cried Power, which is very very very openly an homage to the work of primarily Black blues & protest musicians—Nina Simone, man! the song also LITERALLY featured Mavis Staples! frustrating to see this happen again with Eat Your Young, to say the least

okay I'm STILL in the hospital with a necrotizing pancreas (I've been here for two weeks) and I have no fucking idea how I'm going to make rent or even when I'm going to get out 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I'm exhausted and I'd like to be able to go back into work for only a few hours when I can go back and focusing on healing instead of trying to force myself back into working full time and ending up back here. so.
