MLP Rewrite AU - Equestria Girls first movie (if you haven't done it already)

Okay I've done bits and pieces and I've rewritten it once or twice as I hammered things out over the years but this is a more Offical one where I will go back and retcon my old rewrites BUT:

Just some bullet points:

Let Spike be Human! He's the CMC age so a High School Freshman while the Humane 6 are Seniors.

some discussion of why the age difference between the Pony and Humans(the Mane 6 are grown adults but the Humane 7 are still in school?) (if only so I can keep my sanity re: shipping)

Something a little more solid on like. The crown goes through the portal, Sunset follows 10 seconds after it, but Human!Flutters has already found it and sprinted off to the Principal's office to turn it in and they just go 'well a student found this crown let's use it for our Fall Formal!'. I don't..... /quite/ know how to do this other than making Sunset get detained for a bit so that the Crown can make it to the principal's office in a timely manner?

Twilight does actually properly enroll in the school with Princess Celestia having helped her make a fake identity because 'oh I've popped through there before so I know what you'll need'. But also she's 100% in contact with her Counterpart to make sure this goes smoothly. Her not just having her Counterpart return the crown is because she's once again turning a dangerous situation into a test. Both for Twilight to see how she does, but also to see what all Sunset does in the other world and when faced with this. (I will call Tia out later for this BUT-)

Let Flash be more than a Sexy Lamp PLEASE I'm begging!!! Like even if we just use conversation between him and Twilight to learn more about Sunset and what she was like other than being a bitch. (Like. Why'd they date? Was she a jerk the whole time or was it only until recently that she went off the deep end(aka: when she found out about Twilight replacing and surpassing her. Which like, /how/ did she find out???)

I need to have something else to help Twilight convince the other five that there's some Magic Fuckery since I made Spike Human. Hm. Okay so like my thought process has to do with the body's Magic Pathways and how they channel Magic, which means Twilight can't access her Magic since it's designed to go to horn and wings but she might be able to access Earth Pony Magic since that's more body, but Spike could still play a part since /his/ Magic is more tied to his body and he'd just. Be able to do shit with fire still.

Maybe a touch more aftermath re: the Humane 5 helping Sunset and Twilight going home and meeting the pony!Flash.

I'm finally ending round IV of the Shang Simla/Takemizu-inspired part of my sim world. After this rotation I will build a bathhouse and officially move my original sims to 'ancient' times. If I need any female marriage prospects for the original sims, I will age up the children from this part of town.

The Tian family got an additional ROS roll, because I felt like the first one was not enough and I had to wait with it till the end of the round. The heir developed a crush on a sim the crystal ball told me he had most chemistry with, but it was unrequited love. I also accomplished a big fear for him. He tried to kiss his crush, but got rejected. Spoiler alert: I had to cheat the relationship down a bit, because the crush was absolutely fine with being kissed immediately after meeting him...

The only teen prospect suggested by the crystal ball was Lovi Tia, and I didn't want to go for the adult hobby instructors. Choosing Lovi might cause more drama in the long run.

Tasuku was rolled to become a Popularity sim, just like his dad. He aspires to be well-liked by all the monks, the customers, his family, and his crush. I really hope no fights will come out of this unrequited crush. Popularity sims like to fight after all, as we all know.

Fumi wanted to throw a birthday party for one of her kids. And I thought it was meant for the baby who was aging up on that day. The game decided the party was a disaster an hour before it would end, even though baby Fujitaka did age up... So it ended up being a double birthday. Note to self: maybe don't throw parties for babies if some other sim is meant to age up on the following day! It said the baby would age up in 1 day (so on the same day at 6), toddler in 2, child in 3.

It is very sad Hanako didn't learn to walk, but I didn't think Fumi would feel good enough to teach her on time anyway. The daughter will be a Clumsy sim. It feels a bit unfair because the youngest learnt all of his skills, but raising 3 children alone isn't easy for Fumi.

Fujitaka is an Aquarius. He's 6 Neat and Outgoing, as well as 4 Lazy (just like his older brother). He's also 7 Nice like both his mom and sister. But he's only 6 Playful.

Tasuku opened his business when he became a teenager. The goods in this store were set to expensive just to increase their value a bit. Tasuku tried to keep the store open for as long as he could, but it turned out the Tians needed to sell some animals after all, just selling milk and other products was not enough. Tasuku got to Silver Sales Badge on day 1, and he also got his business to level 3.

I decided to get rid of their goats first, as they were meant to be shepherds. It was Ninurta Orange who decided to buy the goats for their average price. The Oranges are going to be one of the plebeian families, so they could look after animals and perhaps do some cheese and/or butter making.

Lovi came to the opening of the store as well, and Tasuku wanted to sell something cheaper to his crush, but she rejected the offer. Ouch.

They have earned ~1000$ (half of which was earned on the pair of goats alone).

100$ - tithe

They needed to pay all they've earned. The total the monastery has earned in this part of town is ~17,000$.

2 years ago I had a bloated 3000-word NF PB; too many critiques, followed by rewrites/ revisions. Of course I kept getting rejected. It's now 95% rewritten & a trim 570 words w/ a fictionalized element. I'm now pitching it as "informational fiction." Here's my problem - I think I can dig around in my emails and come up with my query list from 2021; but the hard copy I kept is gone (I moved; stuff got stolen). How do I go about querying when I'm not 100% sure if an agent has seen it before? TIA!

I'd call that a different book, tbh, or one so substantially revised that it really bears no resemblance to the previous version.

Don't worry about it, just query like it's brand new, and if they happen to have seen an old version -- so what? This is a much better version.

Carlos pulls up to Tia's house, biting back a groan when he sees that the pen has been set up outside for Luna and the puppies. TK sees it too and immediately starts bouncing in his seat.

Carlos follows his overexcited husband over the pen just in time for Tia Lucy to hand TK one of the little ones.

His heart melts as he watches TK snuggle his whole face into the pup’s fur before TK turns to Carlos with the signature ‘TK wants something’ look.

“Nope, puppy dog eyes aren’t going to work this time!”

TK’s smile turns down slightly as he holds up the adorable golden lab puppy right in Carlos’ face. “What about these puppy eyes?”

“TK..do you know how much labs shed?” Carlos groans, “Fur will be all over everything.”

Carlos doesn’t miss the way TK’s shoulders drop. It breaks Carlos’ heart and he doesn’t have the willpower to keep his secret any longer. Instead he steps into TK’s space, reaching a hand up to ruffle the puppy’s ears. 

“What should we call her?”

TK’s eyes snap to his, “yeah?” he asks so hopefully it hurts.

“It was supposed to be a surprise.” Carlos declares with a laugh and a mock glare directed at his Tia, “Yeah Ty, she’s ours.”

“Luz.” 

“Huh?” 

“Her name. Luz.”

“It’s perfect.”

I’m a regular fan of Ishgardians. As you may have guessed the Scholasticate questline occupies a huge part of my brain. It all started yesterday evening when I opened a fine Dumol Chardonnay and texted Paul my tasting notes. Telling me with certainty that he would be here today, I promised him would save some for him. What CrossFit Affiliate has 5 bottles of wine just waiting for a celebration. Belatedly, we discovered that March is Kayla's Birthday Month, so we are planning to continue her celebration this coming Thursday.

Great news !!! Robert has joined the ELITE PRVN (Tia & Shane Toomey) gym and will not be attending LHCF except to brag of his accomplishments at PRVN. More to follow on the LHCF blog.

A few of our medically oriented ladies were concerned that your old coach has been coughing and feeling poorly for a few weeks. Sweet Sue put her ear to my chest (as Herb loudly protested) and when Sandy upgraded to a stethoscope, and I was proclaimed to have a factitious mental disorder called "Munchausen Syndrome".

Thursday at 4 PM. Wine and snacks to follow, with an added level of intention to party since it is Kayla's Birthday Month. Please bring a snack and perhaps a bottle of wine, or just bring yourself like Robert and Sam always do.

We have listened to our readers who have to use accessibility software to read text or have trouble reading small print. In addition to reading our reviews on Instagram at @rndyounghowze you can read them on plain text on our blog.

We have started to live by the motto, “Wherever you can park your butt you can watch a great show.” We say this because we have seen people make great works of theatre wherever they can set up a camera and put their mugs in front of it. There is something punk and subversive about putting on a show in your very own home to an audience of faces from across the universe. So enter Tia Shearer who has parked her bum in front of a camera and, with the help of partners in crime Deb Sivigny and Anna Lathrop, has decided to perform a 90-minute poetic-epic mind explosion of a play by Kenneth Koch using only her hands and stuff from around her house to embody the 100+ characters of the piece. Yes, it is just as chaotic as it sounds but Shearer, Sivigny, and Lathrop seem ready to fill the order that Koch’s brand of random lays out for them.

When you read the words “100+ characters” you think two things: “Dear Goddess why!?!” and “Dear Goddess how!?!” Shearer used a mixture of props, costumes, and hand gestures to differentiate between characters. A mustache, batteries with bunny ears, pieces of fabric, and a Donkey Kong Stuffie all become part of the “dramatis personae”. The energy gets so chaotic that half of the fun of the show is watching Shearer break character as she must desperately find a prop that she threw off camera in one scene that she needs for the second act. We love that, no matter how seriously Shearer takes her craft she keeps the atmosphere laid back by having a chuckle at herself.

Koch’s script is very dense. It has all the chaos and beauty of a book of poetry. In our opinion, its greatest strength is also its greatest challenge for the audience. Its language is lofty and meaningful but fleeting so it’s hard to hold onto. The time line is as pervasive, erratic, and ephemeral as memory itself which is exactly what Koch was trying to portray. Yet that means the audience is constantly in a lurch. They are constantly trying to follow one thread and only come up with frayed edges as a new ball of yarn rolls into view. Koch doesn’t tie up loose ends or even care if plot lines get unraveled. This is not a literal interpretation this is a story told in the same way that important parts of our lives are remembered: fragmented, fractured, and fleeting.

When you look up these two artists they don’t immediately look like a match made in heaven. Sivigny is a designer that has done everything from production design to dance to weddings. Lathrop is a “transdisciplinary” designer whose website boasts everything from “futures design” to an encyclopedic list of “punk technology” (which Ricky immediately bookmarked). You can see a little bit of each of their essence in the design and performance of this piece. Digital home performances already have a “punk DIY” feel to them but Lathrop certainly puts her spin on it. Sivigny’s work looks like she can make whole worlds appear out of the nothingness of the stage. When one marries the two of these styles together one gets a home-brewed and slow-cooked design that makes sleek and efficient use of the small space but also a subversive and chaotic air to the whole proceedings. Though it looks mad there be method in it.

We almost wish that every audience member had a copy of the script with them as they were watching the play. A playscript is a foundation for a performance, a blueprint for a house. Koch’s verses of word shrapnel give a very fractured framework of a story. We don’t know where the story is going. We barely know where it started. The bulk of Shearer’s performance seems to be aimed at making a stable brick house of performance off of that foundation. There were moments when we were fully welcomed into the house and got to walk inside then there were other times we felt like we stepped through the kitchen door and found ourselves falling off the third-story balcony. Shearer is so great at performing the characters and telling the story we feel like it’s our fault for making the wrong turns.

Guys no one I actually going to get pregnant from him plus I’m pretty sure this man has a pretty strict condom policy and will make any of these women take a plan B the next day if there’s a slip up. But there could be a pregnancy involving tia from someone else or even the fact if there was a pregnancy that’s brought up it probably would be Thomas getting someone pregnant and tia finding out and mentioning it and being like “yeah well glad that isn’t me!”

Okay, so:

Part 1 - Auston told Claire he has a strict condom policy the only night he didn't use one was that one night with Tia and it led to Taylour

Part 2 - Tia tells her friends she has an IUD

Part 28 - the condom broke and Tia told him it wasn't a big deal, she never did tell him why but he still throws money at her and tells her to get Plan B he was also incredibly mad and could have said it more as an outburst following her rejection. But Auston couldn't make someone take it, he could give them money, even buy them the pill, doesn't mean she would take it...

But birth control is never 100%. Shit happens. Condoms break, and even sometimes when they don't people still end up pregnant. IUD's are not 100%, they are supposed to be 99.9% but shit happens. I was at a baby shower last month for a woman who had an IUD 😆

Wholesome Bruno HC

I completely headcanon that Bruno would adopt babies from another village after the mountains split and that he was nervous at first because he thought he was too old to adopt and thought he wasted his life trapped in the walls of the Casita but when he meets the twin babies, he instantly falls in love and with his Mama’s permission, he calls them Oscar and Pedro.

Bruno would be a wonderful dad, using his small involuntary visions to keep them safe from accidents but he refuses to see into their future completely, not wanting to worry himself and wanting his children to live freely. He would try his hardest to make sure his kids fit into the family, making sure that they play with their Cousins, Mirabel and Camilo easily accept and play with them and Antonio introduces them to animals the children may have never seen before.

I 100% HC that Camilo would use his powers to show Bruno’s children who lives in the village so that when they meet the villagers they will be less nervous since they’ve technically already seen them.

The twins would definitely follow after their father and pick up his OCD tics like knocking on wood or not stepping on cracks. At first Bruno was worried about this, not wanting them to end up with the same issue but eventually he realised they only do it because they want to be more like their Papa.

Also I definitely think that Abuela would be a protective grandma over her Brunito’s kids, since they are the children of her youngest kid and would worry about them playing with the encanto’s kids. As well as the fact that she let Bruno name his youngest son Pedro and when she hears her late husband’s name when it’s called, her heart soars a little.

And that on Oscar and Pedro’s 5th birthday, even though they didn’t prepare for it, the miracle decides that they are definitely Madrigals and blesses them with gifts. The gifts would be fully capable of helping both the family and the Encanto with Oscar’s gift being the ability to control earth and solids which in turn links to sand and things like cement and metal, making it easier for Bruno to conduct vision rituals and for Abuela to create houses for the Encanto.

Pedro’s gift would be linked to water and liquids, making it easier for Isabela to create life in desolate areas, reroute the rivers and wells for the Encanto and help take the weight off of his Tia Pepa somewhat by helping water crops when she is too stressed to change the weather.

I just really like the thought of Bruno still having children despite not getting married. I’ve headcannoned Bruno as OCD (Neurodivergent) and queer since I first watched Encanto and he has been the best boy in the whole movie.

PS, we NEED a series about Bruno...About the Madrigals so that the movie can explain more :(
