As announced, a new map has been added to the European collection.

We had started this paper years ago, but it had never been finalized. Since we didn't even have a dedicated map of Switzerland yet, we thought it was appropriate to remediate!

This is a geotectonic map of Switzerland that among the authors also has Imhof. It was realized in 1972 but published in 1978 inside the Atlas of Switzerland.

You can find the original sheet in the David Rumsey Map Collection.

BEAUTIFUL VIEW Das war eine grandiose Aussicht auf die untergehende Sonne. Doch diese musste ich mir hart verdienen, bei einer Affenhitze Ende August 2022. Ich weiss nicht mehr, was mich mehr antrieb den steinigen und steilen Aufstieg von 2 Stunden, mit Sack und Pack, vor Sonnenaufgang zu schaffen. Meine Frau oder mein mögliches Bild im Kopf 😬 Ja, natürlich im Rucksack war nicht nur eine Kamera. Ich wollte ja noch einen Zeitraffer aufnehmen 🙈 Die Strapazen lohnten sich definitiv, nur schon für den Ausblick. Geplant hatte ich zum einen den Sonnenuntergang und hoffte auch auf einen bunten Himmel danach. Das traf nicht ganz so ein. Während ich dieses obige Foto machte, sah alles bestens danach aus. Doch innert wenigen Minuten lösten sich die Wolken auf. Ausser dort, wo die Sonne unterging, blieb eine hängen und verharrte dort. Die untergehende Sonne konnte deshalb nicht mehr ablichten. Sie konnte nur noch diese eine Wolke anstrahlen. Sie ging schlafen ohne bunten Himmel. Das obige Ergebnis gefällt mir und die Wanderung bleibt mir in Erinnerung (und Muskeln und Knochen) 😬 Also packten wir schnell zusammen, schalteten die Stirnlampen ein und nahmen den abenteuerlichen Abstieg unter die Füsse.
