For the WIP tag game, "tangled webs"

It's a Spiderman!Izuku fic I'm working on 👀 I'm planning some stuff out for it right now but I can't wait to write in earnest once I have the time (which will be soon!)

Synopsis:

When the doctor tells Izuku that he's quirkless, he does not give up. He spends the night crying, and then picks himself up. He moves forward.

If he won't have a quirk to support him, he'll need other skills to fall back on. He trains his body and his mind. He learns to fight. He hones his skill with analysis. He learns about tactics, weapons, and computers. He learns how to find information before a fight and during it, and he learns how to put it to use.

Midoriya Izuku will be a hero.

And then, when he has finally, stubbornly forced his way onto the path, everything changes.

He has powers, but it's not a quirk. He is strong, and fast, and flexible--more than he could be from training alone. He finally has everything that has been denied him, and now that he has it, everything has changed.

He has powers, but it's not a quirk, and that puts him and his mom at risk. If they find him, if anyone finds him, she'll be in danger. And that's one risk he will never take.

For the first time, he believes what everyone has always said, even if it's for the opposite reason. But he was stubborn. He wouldn't give up. Even if it couldn't be as a hero, he would save people.

If he couldn't be a hero, he'd just have to be a vigilante instead.

"Mhm," Dabi closed his eyes again, Keigo had never seen him so relaxed. He was so beautiful. 

Gods, alright. I can do this. It can't be more difficult than fighting him, right?

Keigo got closer to the bed and with every step his heart missed a beat, when he sat down the rhythmic beating was the only thing he could hear. "Mind if I stay?"

“Deb, come on, my dad wants to and for once I’m inclined to give him something he wants. He’s been really trying recently and, to be honest… I miss how close we used to be, okay? He wants us to go to stupid fucking Red Lobster, and they have pasta! That’s vegetarian!”

“Not always, Alice. Plus, eating at a restaurant that serves meat is essentially the same thing as eating meat.”

Alice rubbed her temples with her thumbs. She really loved Deb, but her vendetta against meat was getting annoying. And honestly, everyone knows that the blame for environmental atrocities should be placed squarely on the shoulders of big corporations, not individuals like Deb.

“Deb, you aren’t going to stop anyone from serving meat. It just won’t happen. Please? Just this once? I’ll even get the disgusting vegetarian meal from the cafeteria for a month…” She trailed off, hoping she wouldn’t have to continue, but Deb gave her a knowing look. “I’ll pack my OWN, vegetarian lunch, every day for a month, babe. Please.”

Deb broke out into a cheesy grin, and, linking her arm through her girlfriend’s as they walked through Hatchetfield’s pitiful excuse for a mall, said “I would have said yes anyways.”
