something something american necropolitics the tillamook county creamery association found online on tillamook dot com that sells many dairy products in the united states under the brand name tillamook has no relationship and makes no acknowledgement of the tillamook people from whom it get its name. the name comes from the chinook translation of the people of nehalem. early contact with european sailing ships is dated to the 1770s. in 1805 lewis and clark's "discovery" expedition noted at the time that many large villages had been depopulated by pandemics and many adults had smallpox scars. this followed a period of fur trading with the involvement of hudson bay corporation. in 1850, the us govt passed the oregon donation land act, announcing over 2,500,000 acres of land as available for settlers to seize, which happened in patterns whose violence mirrors that of the continent. there was no treaty. in 1907, the tribe sued and was paid 23,500 dollars for the land the us govt has seized from them when it forced them onto the siletz reservation. the tillamook language is a salishan language that lost its last fluent speaker in 1970. many descendants are considered part of the confederated tribes of siletz. other nehalem are part of the unrecognized clatsop nehalem confederated tribes. the nehalem-tillamook were also socially and economically integrated with the clatsop peoples. today the town of tillamook has a population that is only 1.5% native american. the modern day corporation started as a settler coop created in 1909. it is the 48th largest dairy processor in north america and posted $1 billion in sales in 2021.

"In the 1960s, Tillamook County, Oregon, was at war with itself. As the regional dairy industry shifted from small local factories to larger consolidated factories, and as profit margins for milk and cheese collapsed, Tillamook farmers found themselves in a financial crisis that fueled multiple disputes. The ensuing Cheese War included lies and secrets, as well as spies, high emotion, a shoving match, and even a death threat."

Hi Peach! Can I ask 12, 16, and 28 for the ask game? 😊😊🐺
12. Ideas of a perfect date:
Honestly, I don't really think about universal perfect dates. I love dates that are just impromptu - the ones that start as coffee, and then you realize you both have been meaning to check out the bookstore in that neighborhood so you go together, spend an hour browsing, find things you're both excited about, realize you're hungry and get an early dinner together, and then both go home to read your books and text each other about them. Or just getting pho and talking for three hours straight. Or a date that doesn't even start as a date but it really is because it does involve spending 16 hours together, a tour of an aircraft carrier, several meals, a production of 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee including a very cute blonde in a very silly bee costume, karaoke, a migraine, and cuddles, so you realize a month later that you've been dating since the moment you met in person.
Yes, that third one actually happened, that's how @captainandtheircorgi and I first met in person. Don't even get me started on our There's Only One Bed incident a month later 🤣
16. Favorite movie:
If I can say a trilogy, Lord of the Rings. If I have to pick a single film, Across the Universe.
28. Favorite ice cream?
lately, Tillamook peaches and cream

hi!! re: your tillamook post - completely agree that the company should acknowledge the origin of the name + its roots in colonialism, but the company is based in tillamook, oregon. there's a lot of companies named tillamook xyz in the area, which is its own can of worms to process, but since there was no mention of the town in your post, i just wanted to offer that!
yeah, im aware. i thought using the full name w tillamook county made it clear it was also a place name! i'll edit it to make it clearer. it just felt egregious to me that they use it as brand name, own tillamook dot com and sell "tillamook cheese" which has no relationship with the people or language. i don't particularly think land acknowledgement is effective from a indigenous justice perspective tbh, i often find it quite empty, but it was kind of surprising to me the company didn't even do that – made it entirely invisible that there were and are a tillamook peoples today.

Whey Protein Market Landscape Assessment By Type, Opportunities And Higher Mortality Rates By 2033
The whey protein market is expected to be worth US$ 19.6 billion in 2023, and is predicted to reach US$ 40.3 billion by 2033.
Rising Chronic Illness Incidences due to Changing Lifestyles, Particularly Among the Millennials, are expected to Increase the Market
Lifestyle-related ailments and illnesses are growing more common in most countries around the world, increasing the demand for healthy dietary products. Whey protein is one such food component that contributes to a well-balanced diet.
Because wellness centers and gyms are continuously recommending protein supplements, shopper interest in such protein supplements has grown significantly. Whey protein's antihypertensive and antibacterial qualities make it a more appealing option for use in a variety of applications.
Whey protein's widespread use in baked goods, dairy products, beverages, chocolate, and cereals may drive market expansion. Whey protein has a longer shelf life than other protein powders on the market, and this distinguishing feature gives it a wider market reach. Transportation is also simple, as it is less perishable and offers more potential for growth.

Fort George Brewery announces their newest, year-round, release - Short Sands Lager.

Press Release

Listen. You don’t know how much we love lagers. The first beer we put into cans, all those many years ago in 2011, was a Pre-Prohibition-Style lager called 1811. It was named for the year our hometown, Astoria, was founded. We released 1811 Lager especially for Astoria's 200th birthday. In 1811, when the walls of Fort Astoria went up, this was already a thriving coastal community of indigenous First Nations people, trappers, hunters, explorers, and survivors of various shipwrecks / terrifying land journeys.
Back then (in 2011, not 1811), we had some ideas about making lagers (I mean, maybe they had ideas about making lagers in 1811, but no one wrote them down - they were too busy preventing cholera outbreaks and not starving). We had all these ambitious plans but Lagers take time, and they take space.
In 2011, we were making so much beer we could barely keep up with ourselves. You might think that an entire city block which was once an auto showroom would provide enough space for a growing brewery to make a Lager. And it did, sort of. We made some great lagers, but we dreamed of the day that we would dedicate a whole entire set of equipment and tanks EXCLUSIVELY to Lagers. And that day is today. Actually, it was a while ago, because as we said before, Lagers take time.
Short Sands Lager is now available in 12 oz 6-packs all over the Pacific Northwest. This Lager is a loving tribute to Short Sands Beach in Tillamook County, a place as important to our coastal community as the year 1811. Which is why 1% of Short Sands Lager proceeds will benefit the Surfrider Foundation.
The Perfect Lager can be consumed at the top of a mountain, on the beach, in a canoe, with spaghetti, with dessert, with your mom, with your friends, by a campfire, by a trout stream, in a cave, in your house, at your friend's house, under the stars, in the middle of the day, in a glass or straight from the can. We're not saying we made The Perfect Lager. But we did make A Lager: Short Sands Lager.
We’ve been working on Short Sands for years - calculating the ideal balance of floral and fruity, malty and toasty. Clean, crisp esters from a low and slow fermentation, classic German malts and noble hops for the barest touch of malt sweetness. A pressurized tank during fermentation produces natural carbonation and here we are. The perfect can size (12 oz of course), available all year long from wherever you get your good beer.
Maybe it is The Perfect Lager?
