What I heard from the Loki S2 trailer audio (speech)

Loki: Hello?

Loki: This is gonna sound strange.

Loki: I've been pulled through time and I saw terrible, awful things.

Loki: This is about everything because nothing can stand between this world and utter destruction. War is on its way.

Mobius: A little over the top, don't ya think?

Loki: I thought it was spot on.

Loki: I cant be the problem anymore, Mobius.

Mobius: Who said you were?

Loki: I don't know. Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawk Eye, Agent Coulson, Thanos, Nick Fury, my father, my brother, Miss Minutes, you.

Mobius: Hmmm.

Edit note: The bit where they clap is not as easy to hear what Loki is saying. Originally I'd assumed it was what the Slash Film article had quoted for Loki ("I don't want you to think I'm the bad guy in all this" and then "Mobius") but on further listening, it sounds more like either the above (which I've edited) or "I can't be the problem any longer, Mobius". Or it's not that. If anyone knows, let me know.

Loki is a former criminal turned informant and consultant. Mobius is the agent that turned him. Kind of like a White Collar situation, if you know that show.

It’s late when Loki returns to their home. Late enough that the crickets are chirping louder than the car engines. Late enough that there’s a cool bite to the air. Late enough that the lights of the city are blinding. Late enough that every noise he makes entering the house is like the echo of a gunshot in the silence. It’s that recoil that shatters through Loki with every movement.

He’s not a bad person. He’s not. He’s a criminal turned informant. He’s done bad shit, yes. He’s hurt people. He’s…done things that have caused death, but he’s never pulled the trigger himself. He’s not sure if that’s a fine enough line to draw, but it’s the one he draws to help him sleep at night. It’s the one he draws so he stays on the right path.

But tonight he spilled ink on the page and now the line is lost. Just like him.

Do you know what you’ve done? How many you’ve hurt? You’re not a good guy, and I’m tired of you pretending to be.

Clint was right of course. You don’t use someone in the way Loki used him. At the time he’d needed to further his goals. Whispering lies in the undercover cop’s ears hadn’t seemed all that bad at the time, not with the other criminal acts he was performing without hesitation.

i know i already talked about how neil and the protagonist would meet. i talked about how perhaps it was neil who seeked the protagonist out, either on his own volition or as a mission for whatever organization he was working for. and, there are many fics on ao3 right now that depicted that it was the other way around.

either way, it was planned, the first time they meet (or well, the second time for the protagonist- you know what i mean). it was either neil or the protagonist who took matters into their own hands and seek the other out.

wouldn’t it be funny, though, that it was not? that it was, as the protagonist once asked neil, fate? random chance, but it wasn’t actually random at all, because all of this was planned. just not by them, per se, but the universe.

wouldn’t it be absolutely hilarious that they met, but not exactly stayed in contact? as in, the protagonist was making a quick escape, running for his life (but not quite running because he was in public, and couldn’t risk drawing more attention than he already did) and neil was there, coincidentally (but not quite so coincidental because, well, it was fate, it was reality). the protagonist was too busy looking over his shoulder, watching the antagonists looking for him in the crowd that he didn’t notice, didn’t even register it for a short second after he’d bumped into neil.

and neil, wow, neil looked young. he was neil, for sure, no doubt about it, but he wasn’t, at the same time. the protagonist all but gaped at him while neil asked if he was alright. it took the protagonist a moment too long to finally gather himself and remember that he was being chased. there was no time to reconcile (or have a proper first meeting). it physically hurt for the protagonist to tear himself away from neil, mumbling a quick sorry before running off.

so they met like that, perhaps, so fleetingly, after so many months (weeks? years?) looking for neil — british, masters in physics, handsome as the devil and a quick wit to match — and coming to deadends. there neil was and the protagonist couldn’t make contact, not yet.

and he wished he could stay and look for neil, but his cover has been made and he had to move.

then, maybe, they’d meet again, this time not so random. the first contact had ignited a fire in the protagonist and he threw himself into it. he couldn’t put off finding neil any longer — no more blaming bad leads, lack of information or his own wish to keep neil out of this; to spare the man that certain death waiting for him at the end of the line.

they met again, and a beautiful friendship began, and the rest, well, you know the way it goes...

Okay, I've decided how I'd want a canon Lokius kiss to go.

They find each other again and they are busy saving the multiverse and they need to split up to do something. Mobius says to meet back here, Loki says okay and turns to head off. Mobius says "hey, wait" and grabs Loki's wrist, pulling him back round to face him. He quickly kisses him, then they share a look, smile and then both head off to do what they must.
