Harana was a traditional form of courtship in the Philippines wherein men introduced themselves and/or wooed women by singing underneath her window at night. It was widely practiced in the old Philippines with a set of protocols, a code of conduct and a specific style of music.

Y/n jumped out of her bed feeling annoyed to whoever woke her up in the middle of her peaceful slumber. 

“To whoever this person is waking me up, he or she must have a better reason or else I will beat the shit out of that person.” Y/n stomped all her way to the window to see who the bastard was.

“Ethan, what the fuck do you need? It is literally like two in the morning?” Y/n asked angrily. Heeseung knows that sleep is important to y/n. The boy was there standing on her front lawn with a guitar in his hand. 

“I just want to see your pretty face while I am taking my early morning walk.” The boy smiled sweetly at y/n but y/n rolled her eyes at him. Ouch.   

“Whatever, Heeseung.” Y/n scoffed. “I need more sleep,” Y/n was about to close the window when Heeseung waved his hands, signaling her to not do it. y/n noticed and still having a tiny bit of patience for this guy in front of her lawn.

“Okay, the reason why I wanted to disturb your sleep is because of this. The song reminded me of us, even though we are not officially together yet.” Heeseung started to play a few chords, creating the most alluring melody.

When Heeseung finally ended the song, he smiled sweetly to y/n. “Did you like it?” he asked.

“Wait for me there,” y/n said instead of answering his question.

y/n hurried on wearing her slippers and rushed quietly downstairs to meet Heeseung. When she was outside, y/n gave Heeseung a tight yet warm hug. 

“Heeseung, I love it,” Y/n giggled. She always feels grateful and asks the man above what she did in her past life that made her deserve a guy like Heseung to court her for almost a year!

Heeseung blushed because of y/n’s cuteness.

“Heeseung, I think you should stop courting me already,” y/n said with a grin on her face. “I am ready to be your girlfriend.” She grabbed his hands and Heeseung jumped and shouted out for joy because finally, he has the girl of his dreams to be her girlfriend. 

“FINALLLY! Y/N IS MY GIRLFRIEND!” Heeseung shouted. Probably waking up the whole neighborhood.

“L/N, Y/N! Get back inside now!” Y/n’s mom came out of the entrance of the house and scolded her daughter for being lovey dovey with a guy early in the morning.

“I gotta go. Let’s go on a date soon.” Y/n winked and before leaving Heeseung, y/n give him a kiss on the cheek before heading back inside.

It’s raining again, why do it always rain when I go out? Does fate really want to remind me that hurtful night? Kailangan bang mag paulit ulit ang imahe nya na nasasaktan sa utak ko? It’s almost a year when that happen, almost a horrible year to me.

{ flashback }

“It’s getting late na, love. I love you so much, thank you for everything.” She said, I looked at her and she started to lean, and ofcourse I started to lean aswell, when our lips met I feel the butterflies in my stomach go crazy.

She pulls away and smile at me, it’s a genuine one but I can hear her heart shattering into pieces, Alam kong sabi nya ayos lang ang lahat basta masaya ako masaya rin sya. No that’s not how it works, love. I hurt you so much. I hurt the most caring and genuine person, and I broke my promise.

“Pangakong hinding hindi kita sasaktan, I’ll always be with you through your ups and down.” Sabi ko sabay halik sa noo neto, “Love, wala naman tayo sa tapat ng altar, bakit naman nagbibigay ka agad ng vows mo?” She said while laughing.

Then she left. She left with her heart shattered into pieces, I feel so shitty. Di ko magawang habulin, pigilan or mag paliwanag man lang. Bakit nawalan ako ng boses kung kelan ko ito kailangan? Tulips was her favorite flowers not red roses, simpleng bagay lang Heeseung.

“We may not be infront of the Altar, love, pero kaya kong panindigan mga pangako ko sayo. Nasa harap man ng altar o wala.” I said before leaning in and kisses her in the lips.

Kayang panindigan? I bet when the old Heeseung was here, he’ll beat me up till I’m bleeding. Masyado kang patawa, Lee Heeseung. Paninindigan? Eh bakit nagawa mong saktan?

I look a like a crazy man just standing still and looking down, too focused sa mga naiisip ko ng di ko na namalayang bumuhos na ang ulan. It’s raining, it must know what her feeling that’s why. Rain. Just like the rain in her eyes when she saw what I was holding.

This specific night will haunt me forever.

I sigh, you might be guessing I got back with my ex, right? Well sorry to disappoint you, I didn’t, I can’t not when I hurt her that much, I recall her eyes being full with excitement before turning into betrayal and hurt.

“Why do you always forget to bring an umbrella?” I laugh, fuck my mind, I miss her too much that my mind is playing with me, “If you think this is just some of your mind trick or whatever you call that, well guess what, it isn’t.”

I looked beside me, and there she is. My paraluman, my tahanan, my pahinga, my tinatangi. “Love..” I lowly said. To which she just chuckle, “It’s YN for you, Mr. Lee.” She said smiling, another genuine smile with a lot of meaning. “Here take this, baka magka sakit ka pa.”

I looked at the umbrella she’s giving me and back to her. “Wag mo ng ibalik if thats what’s stopping you from taking the um-“ I didn’t let her finish when I pull her towards me and hug her. If this is a dream please, don’t wake me up.

“I miss you so much. I’m sorry.” I mumble and nuzzle my face in her neck, she chuckles and tried to push me away gently but I held her tighter. She sigh in defeat, “Hee, how many times do I have to tell you na it’s okay, matagal na kitang napatawad, wala na yun. Bitaw na.”

“No, ayoko. The last time na binitawan kita, umalis ka. And I know that it is because of me, pero ngayon hindi na. Hindi na kita bibitwan pa. If you think na I get back with Lia, no. Not even once I contacted her. Nung umalis ka nung gabing yun hindi ako tumakbo sa kanya,” Panimula ko.

“Hindi ko sya pinuntahan, hindi ko sya tinawagan, hindi ko sya naisip, dahil sa buong oras kong nakatayo dun ikaw at ikaw lang ang laman ng isip ko. Hindi ko nagawang pigilan ka dahil nagulat nako sa mga pangyayari, pero kung maibabalik ko lang ang dati I would stop you from slipping through my fingers. Nawalan ako ng lakas loob nun, and I’m sorry for what I put you through, love.” Pagpapaliwanag ko.

I slowly pull away but still holding her, at ng makita ko yung mukha nya, ramdam kong nawawasak ang puso ko, she’s crying. Just like the clouds. They’re both crying hard. She slowly moves closer and hug me. “Ang sakit, halos isang taon akong nagdusa, kahit anong gawin ko naalala parin kita. Ang dami ko ng nasubukang gawin para makalimutan ka pero wala, ikaw at ikaw parin ang nasa isip ko.” She suddenly said while sobbing.

I hug her back and soothing her. It’s my time to comfort her, “I know, love and I’m sorry.” I pull away and hold her face, wiping some of the tears. I smile, “Let’s go home, love?” Tears rolled down her eyes and she smile before saying, “But I’m already home.”

Concept art for my Megaman Summer Fanart 2022 entry, ‘Lutang".

The title is a Filipino word that means “float/floating/adrift.” Like a  lot of my other entries, it’s titled after a song, specifically, Ely Buendia/Itchyworms’ “Lutang”. The whole comic is straight up copied from the story of the song’s music video. The word itself is never said in the comic.

I was going to write that “this may be the most brainless entry I’ve ever tried to submit” but that’s not true. I was already following somebody’s plot and my only main direction was to put as many funny things as possible to make me laugh but trying to figure out the characters’ “Cast Away but Sexy” looks was a headache. Among the three entries, it was the most fun to work and think about it, but it was a lot of work. The main thing I remember was trying to draw Ballade with a shawl but I keep drawing it and it looked weird, so it was like whatever, no more shawl.

A very early concept that never made it past brainstorming was to feature Star Force 3’s Dealer organization. There were a lot of fun jokes I still laugh at when I think about them but as a whole it didn’t work with what I wanted. The only member who matters One member did make in the final draft.

Tundra’s weird look is. Actually, nobody probably noticed (because most of the comics are unfinished) but since each story takes place in another universe, each version of Tundra is supposed to look different as well. I think only a couple goes unmasked and they have pretty human faces with hair and stuff. I wanted to show at least with a more “robotic” face, “Lutang”s Tundra has absolutely no hair under that helmet, just smooth metal.  The one in Bounce Man’s story has white asymmetrical hair, which is an allusion to the most common Tundra hair canons (I usually draw Tundra with very short spiky dark hair), but packing an absolutely terrifying razor mouth. There was no natural way to show it in the story but that's the lore.

The look he sports in Lutang is a very specific allusion to one of my earliest Tundra headcanons. I just wanted to show it for the last "official" fanart entry so making it "canon". To no one else but me but a lot of my fanstuff is full of little ceremonies and rituals that's only meaningful to me anyway.

Maria Clara at Ibarra: Isang Obra

You’ve done it again, GMA. KUDOS. Lemme just say this. I am one full-blooded Kapamilya. But when I was younger, I remember watching and being obsessed with Mulawin, Majika, and especially the original 2006 Encantadia. Feeling ko forte talaga ng GMA ang “Telefantasya” genre. And now, another timely gem has been created. Isang napakagandang proyekto, GMA. Ngayon na lamang muli napakapanood ng serye na likha ninyo, and I’m really glad I did. 🫶🏻

Why I LOVE this teleserye??! Ang paksa ng drama ay napapanahon at edukasyonal para sa ating lahat. Liban sa kilig at mga nakakatuwang hirit, parang isang pagbabalik-tanaw at pagpapaalala sa mga nakalipas na panahon. Also, casting was SPOT ON!!! Barbie was perfect for the role, Klay (sobrang kaaliw! #feminism #notooppression besh). The perfect representation of what a Pinoy youth should be now. Crisostomo Ibarra giving me extra oppa vibez. Sa pagkakatanda ko super crush ko na before si Dennis Trillo sa Majika pero omg, tinatangi ko po kayo ginoo (ipagpatawad mo, Ate Jen hihi). The super talented Julie Ann as Maria Clara was surprising for me. ‘Twas actually unbeknownst to me that she can act like this. I’m amazed! I know she sings, she dances, and she can act too? (sige ipinapaubaya ko na talaga si Rayver ahahaha). Sa totoo lang, nahihirapan na ko pag nakikita ko silang umiiyak ni Barbie. I’m like, unli luha lang mga amiga? 🙌🏼 Also, I am now understanding why David Licauco has everyone in his clutches. (yung kaibigan ko, pipilahan ka talaga eh. see you soon kapag makakapaglamierda kami jan sa maynila hahaha). Fidel, isa kang tunay at tapat na amigo. Talk about character development, right? 🥲

Padre Salvi, Padre Damaso, pinakulo niyo po ang aking dugo, pinabilis ninyo ang tibok ng aking puso sa inis at galit. It’s my first time seeing Juancho Triviño as an actor. I know I knew him from somewhere, so ayun hubby nga pala siya ni Joyce Pring. He fits the role of PS to a tee! The amount of hate and disgust for the character just showed his effective acting. Of course, you would expect greatness with the likes of Mr. Tirso Cruz III, but I must say these younger actors leveled up too.

Andrea Torres as Sisa?! Speechless. 👏🏻 Dasurv ng award at recognition sa binigay niya dito. And, it is always a delight to see Rocco Nacino. The perfect Elias. Mahilig talaga ako sa chinito maputi ganyan pero for some reason, I crush you po.🫶🏻 (pasintabi rin kay mareng Mel wew?).

All in all, sobrang naaliw at napasaya ako ng kwentong ito. Sana ay makalikha pa po kayo ng mga proyektong katulad nito. Dinggin niyo kami! ✊🏼😉 Viva Las Filipinas!! 🇵🇭 Sana nga ay tuluyan na tayong makalaya. 🙏🏼
