pausing my one dnd show (critical role) that's my daytime programming to watch my other dnd show (dimension 20) while i eat dinner get ready for bed

#being able to have a monday/tuesday rewatch after the thursday cr streams again is so nice #and im trying to get through never after #i couldn't really tell you where im at w d20 bc the problem for me is that bc their seasons are shorter and there are more of them #i just kind of bounce around from season to season #like ive watched all of fantasy high except for the last halfish of the s2 finale bc i hate finishing things #ive watched a good chunk of starstruck but couldn't actually tell you how far into the season i am #ive watched a sizable chunk of s1 of unsleeping city #ive watched most of tiny hiest and started mentopolis #all while im 40 episodes into vox machina and went back to rewatch exu calamity which ive seen all of but the 2nd half of the last ep #because i hate finishing things #im a mess

early romantic jigen headcanons:

this man will not admit he feels anything

jigen thinks that if he admits his feelings, even to himself, that he will get betrayed. everyone is out to get him and tear his heart into a million tiny pieces.

he can act as if he is heartless, but in reality his heart is so bursting with love he wants to show someone, he falls for people quite easily. he’d never admit this of course. just grunt at any such thought and shrug it off. eventually he’ll be in a situation that’ll take his mind off it. his life is busy and frantic, most people don’t stick around for too long.

but then there’s a person who he is forced to spend a lot of time with and his usual methods of ignoring his emotions are not of much use.

he notices a lot of positive attributes about this person – they’re intelligent, hardworking, willing to put themself on the line for other people. they’re also funny. jigen has a soft spot for someone who can make him laugh. he enjoys dry, witty humour but dumb slapstick also has its place.

without noticing it, he begins to let his “they’re going to hurt and betray me and kill me and kill everyone i care about” guard down.

he can’t help himself from being overprotective. he would not let this person out of his sight. would it be dangerous for them to follow him around? too bad. who knows what might happen to them while jigen’s away. they’ll just have to come on this hiest.

they don’t know how to use a gun? terrible news. but also great news because jigen loves infodumping. he shows them his entire arsenal. prepare for a 72 hour lecture on the intricacies of all his weapons. he sports a beaming smile all the while. the three day lesson is fuelled by hundreds of cups of pitch black coffee. jigen insists each cup is delcicious even though it tastes like licking a burnt tire. he assures them it is an acquired taste and they will grow to appreciate it.

ok now they have to learn how to shoot. a gun is a great accessory, but if jigen’s going to drag them along on missions they’re going to have to learn how to use it.

at the range jigen stands behind them, not quite touching their body, but guides their body and hand into prime positioning. he struggles not to make mistakes in giving instructions because he’s infatuated being so close to the person he’s falling for.

they tell jigen that they think goemon’s zantetsuken is actually much cooler than any gun. jigen stops talking to them (for about 20 mins).

one day lupin insinuates jigen has a soft spot for this person. he becomes terrified of ruining his brooding, depressive reputation (great look btw jigen very healthy). he ends up resorting to borderline hate criming the person of interest. he realises his guard has been let down and he must resort to convincing himself they will betray him again.

contrary to the intention jigen’s ingenious plan, this is when they realise he might be interested in them.

jigen is extremely fun to toy with because his gut reaction is to take everything extremely seriously. his defences are always up. he trusts close to nobody.

the best way to deal with him being an ass to them is to laugh it off and/or playfully go along with it. he gets really angry? just laugh in his face and call him cute. he starts maniacally insulting them? do it back but mention something really arbitrary. the confusion as to why you mentioned something so trivial makes him more angry. even cuter.

this can escalate into play fighting. well, normal fighting for jigen he’s almost convinced himself he hates this person by this point.

but at the point their roughhousing becomes physical and jigen is physically confronted with them, looking at them closely, maybe even direct eye contact if he can stomach it, he realises that his infatuation never really stopped. he walks away.

jigen considers that through all the opportunity given, his insults, quips, and close to violence, if this person wanted to betray him, they probably already would have.

he can’t keep this up anymore. he’s got to get his act together. but how? its been a while and he thinks he may have forgot how to love

Seriously, getting to see Mal's point of view really changes the story and makes him more of a likable character because you're fully understanding everything he's going through instead of him just retelling it later on. I know some people think they changed the character but I feel it's more enhancing Mal than anything. Gave him more story than Leigh did in the books, which was because the story was all from Alina's perspective. We probs would have gotten this if she told it like Six of Crows. Speaking of, A HEIST. WE GOT TO SEE THE CROWS DO A HEIST AHHHHHH it was so fucking GOOD. Gave me so much serotonin watching them do it, though I'll never get the image of a smiling, cheerful Kaz out of my nightmares for WEEKS lmao and NINA AND MATTHIAS. OH SAINTS MY HEART. MY FUCKING HEART. I AM READY FOR THE REST GIVE MEEEEE
