This may be nitpicky of me, but people need to read up on what makes a wizard different from a sorcerer in D&D if they're gonna write specifics about Gale using magic.

Too many times in fic I see people saying shit like, "he pulled from the weave intrinsically" or that he's casting a spell using "his will alone". THE ENTIRE POINT OF A WIZARD IS THAT THEY GET THEIR MAGIC THROUGH STUDY! INTRINSIC USE OF MAGIC IS A SORCERER THING!

Sometimes authors will even have him casting spells in ways that could only be achieved through metamagic, A DEFINING CHARACTERISTIC OF SORCERERS.

I understand that it's fanfic and people have the right to write however they want, and that a lot of people in the fandom's first exposure to D&D is BG3, but missing the fundamental aspects of his class so much that it reads as an entirely different one upsets me for no good reason

reminder that (at least in the US) school administration in public schools (where the hierarchy is most strict) are heavily self-selecting for straight up wanting to control children who can't fight back in any way

schools are too often run like prisons. those who think that creates any positive values, or higher work ethic, or discipline, has clearly not seen the actual results: fear, distrust, secrecy, and sometimes even PTSD.

The priority on control and obedience has got to go.
