Y'know, not to kick a decades old hornets' nest, but Luke's logic isn't wrong.

Luke Castellan is trying to overthrow the gods. Not a god. Not a couple of gods. The whole pantheon. And not only is he and every other demigod basically just some guy (not all of them have aquakenesis and necromancy powers, y'all) he, a 19 year-old boy, is the oldest, most experienced one of them. There's literally no other way of accomplishing this unless he and the other children have an opposing deific or eldritch power in their corner.

Like, yeah, Kronos is evil. We know this. Luke knows this. But unless Luke wanted to start bargaining with other pantheons, Kronos is kinda the only choice he has.

And let's not forget, in the end, the plan (at least partially) works. Demigods only begin to start getting better treatment because of the war with the Titans. All those kids are only ever claimed because Percy decided to use his leverage with the gods to win rudimentary concessions in the wake of Luke's war.

Luke was right.

Hc Alabaster isn't exceptionally good at poker, but he's definitely a master at card tricks.

Why? Because Luke taught him.

Why, again? Bc I reckon Luke would see Alabaster have to carry around a bunch of cards, struggle to pick the right one in the nick of time for summoning/ incantations, and refuse to leave him be.

Children of Hermes are masters of tricks. Luke's good at poker, and by extension cheating stunts, too. So he taught Alabaster how to hide the cards between layers of armor, how to pick the right one without fumbling and dropping them all in a freaking fight, how to pull 1-2-3 cards right to your hand with just a flick of his wrist... All of this with a smile on his face, being the typical kind brother he is.

In a way, he taught Alabaster how to fight with the kid's own style.

Because Luke cares that much about these demigods.

last post has got me back to the line of questioning i had when i was a kid reading ttc for the first time. why was luke holding the sky? did he only hold it after they captured annabeth to trick her? or was he holding it before? bc atlas, "the general," was free by the time percy and co made it to westover, and someone had to be holding the sky for that to happen. it makes me think luke was being punished, bc he failed to get the golden fleece...exposed his plan to the camp...failed to kill percy...failed to get thalia on their side. then when percy sees luke on the mountain before the battle, he says luke looks even worse, despite luke no longer holding the sky. and if it's true that luke was being punished, then it really highlights my comment of how the minor gods and titans don't act any better than the gods
