Characters: Daniel LaRusso, Johnny Lawrence, Mr. Miyagi

Pairings: teen!LawRusso (pre?)

The first time Daniel claps him on the shoulder out of camaraderie Johnny punches him as a reflex. Daniel doubles over, holding his nose. Mr. Miyagi raises an eyebrow but says nothing.

Johnny’s hands hover over Daniel’s shoulders. “Shit, LaRusso, I…”

“Goddamn, Johnny, what-”

“I didn’t mean…”

“You accidentally giving me a black eye?”

Mr. Miyagi clears his throat. “Sometimes old wound still hurt when pushed. Take long time to trust more bruises not coming.”

Johnny murmurs. “M’sorry, LaRusso.”

Johnny’s hand is warm on his shoulder, his words warm in his chest.

“I forgive you. But get me some ice!”

Au where Carmen is pregnant with Miguel in high school. She thought marrying Hector was the best choice but her mother, who truly saw what was going on, moved them to California to start anew. Carmen hated her for it at first, hated the run-down apartments they stayed at, hated having to learn and adopt to this new place, new people, a new culture.

The one thing everyone notices is her growing baby bump and she's the focus of almost all of the gossip at school.

But she's not one to let it fly by and sure as hell not one to let people talk to her with any rude remarks. She lands herself in detention nearly every week, where she meets a couple of people who already seem to know each other. By the attendance sheet, they go by Ali, Daniel, Johnny, Dutch, and Tommy.

They all get partnered in twos so that they can help each other with any homework. Ali and Daniel cling together anyways and by the looks of it, Dutch got to Tommy as quickly as possible and gave Johnny a wink. Idiots.

But Johnny is nice, all things considered. At first, he pretends like he doesn't notice the bump and doesn't talk much. But as days pass, he starts getting curious. Carmen doesn't mind really, for everyone else has done nothing but talk behind her back. At least Johnny meets her eyes when they talk.

Neither of them flirt with each other but their conversations are easy and actually engaging. Not that Carmen is looking for something right now, obviously, but...Johnny is cute. He dresses nice and he smells good. His eyes crinkle when he smiles and he helps with Carmen's history homework, even when she doesn't ask for it.

Do you guys think Daniel ever just wore a cute halter top to school and it affected Johnny so much that he told one of the teachers it was inappropriate and it was clearly distracting (the girls) in the classroom 🤭which led to Daniel getting dress coded. (Daniel was really confused but rocked the ugly shirt they gave him anyways. Nothing can stop him from looking like a piece of candy)
