#tlsq head boys and girls
Note
I've been thinking that for the head boy/girl position in 7th year we should have had only girl Corey for guys and Victor for gals. That way Corey wouldn't be Rowan's cheap knock off and Victor would have an actual point for existing, since he wasn't the brother of the wizard in the white like most theorised, and if James freaking Potter can be head boy so Dumbledore's otp can come together or whatever, then I don't see why he wouldn't appoint the twilight rip off as well.
There's definitely something to that. I don't want to take away Corey's gender fluidity because I appreciate having more nonbinary/trans characters in the game, but doing it in exactly the same way as they did for Rowan - just in reverse - is kind of transparent. I really wanted Corey to be more than just Rowan 2.0 and frankly, they still could have been. It's just a question of writing them to be a unique character and not just the answer for when the writers need Rowan in the story after they died.
I snorted at the Twilight line, I will admit, I'd forgotten about Victor's weird dynamic with Chiara. Ultimately, they didn't know what to do with his character, and I think they were at a loss because they originally planned to have him be Shiratori, or Shiratori's younger brother, but for whatever reason changed their minds and omitted it. Leaving him with no real plan. Having him be one of the Head Kids would have worked, but it would have put a bigger sign over his head that he was important, making it even weirder that he wasn't connected to Shiratori.
The writers just had too many characters to work with. Who remembers Alanza? Oh that's right, hardly anyone, because she didn't do anything. Even Rowan, our beloved, disappeared from the story in Year 3 and never really regained significance until Year 6 (outside of the Prefect TLSQ, but that definitely *felt* more important than it was because it was one of the first TLSQs and we didn't really know that they were episodic yet.)

Who do you think will be the prefect in MC's year? We already have Charlie, and if MC and Rowan don't count, the who are the others?
Hm. So, HPHM took a bit different approach to becoming a Prefect than it was in the books, where it was Dumbledore choosing students for this position. And judging by Ron’s reaction, you don’t really have much to say about it. In the game, we were actively trying to get a badge, which I suppose is understandable. I mean, it’d be hard to make a quest around it otherwise. Either way, I’ll try to take both these aspects into account for various options.
Well, since we have Charlie in Gryffindor, I guess it’d be it for this House because we have no girls who are fixed Gryffindors. Well, I suppose it could be female Corey, which would actually make quite a lot of sense. I mean, we know that you don’t have to be a Prefect to become Head Girl (or Boy), but still. On the other hand, MC not knowing Corey before Y7 would HAVE TO be changed then. It’s really odd either way as Corey's allegedly very popular and whatnot, but not knowing a Prefect from your year? Yeah, I’m not buying it.
As for Ravenclaw, I’d say that Talbott would be very fitting for a male Prefect. I doubt that he’d want to be one, but if we go by the books’ rules, I can definitely see him being chosen. He’s said to be a very good student, and he’s very sensible. He’d probably have a bit harder time dealing with other students, but I’m sure he could overcome it. Plus, it’d be a kind of preparation for his Auror career. I mean, not really… but kind of? Both are about obeying the law, right?
As for girls, I don’t see either Tulip or Badeea as Prefects, so I have to go with an unnamed female Ravenclaw. Tulip obviously spends too much time in detention, and Badeea is just too focused on her passions, in my opinion. It’s not only that she probably wouldn’t want to take that role, but I also imagine Dumbledore would be aware that Badeea doesn’t have that much interest in school life.
For Hufflepuffs, I’d choose Chiara from the girls. I know that sometimes random students in classes say that Penny would be a great Prefect, but first of all: she wasn’t interested during the Prefect TLSQ, and secondly: Penny might be popular, but from a teacher’s point of view, I just think that Chiara is simply a better choice. She’s more level-headed, responsible, and she’d be great with younger students.
There are not many options for boys, but I think that Diego could handle it. It seems that Jam City toned his flirtatious personality down a bit, and he’s rather helpful. Plus, he has experience in dealing with difficult students, seeing how he mentored Merula back in Y5.
Finally, Slytherins. And here I have to go again with an unnamed male Slytherin. I just really don’t see Barnaby in the role of a Prefect. I also think that his other responsibilities could suffer because of that. Like, Barnaby needs additional time to get help in studying, for example. As for the girls… Eh, I guess I have to say Merula. And not even because I think she’s a good choice (I don't think she is), but because I’m pretty sure that’s what Jam City would do - if only they weren’t too lazy and actually gave Prefects more meaning in the story. I mean, we basically only needed to get to the Prefects’ Bathroom, and we have Charlie for that, so why bother with Merula? Why I believe that they would choose Merula? Well, even if only to parallel Draco and Harry. Plus, I can totally see Dumbledore being like: “There’s more to Miss Snyde than meets the eye, she can prove herself if given a chance” yadda yadda yadda… So yeah.
And I believe that’s it!

Claws To Wings
Welcome one and all~
I did say I was going to be working on the Talith lore, so here’s another installment of that. So I did some tweaking to the storyline that Jam City had. So the first Valentine’s Day happened in 4th year instead of 5th (because you can unlock I think both Valentine’s Day TLSQs in the same year and it didn’t make too much sense to me).
Plus there are future true events that happen in 6th year, if you’re already familiar with the Without You/The Man Behind the Necklace series than you already know. During that time, Judith and Talbott are together and have been for quite some time. But before that, they have been pining after each other for years.
In my first story, “The Scent of Love to the Heart of a Loner Poet”, Talbott is coming to realizing how deep his feelings were for Judith (whose been crushing on him since 3rd year). Between then and now, those feelings have grown and they’ve been dancing around each other.
There’s gonna be some details here that are definitely gonna be new (because it’s part of a super old character reference I created for her when I first started posting about HPHM content here).
Anyway, enough rambling. On with the story! Enjoy! 💛
MC friend: David Willows ( @that-scouse-wizard )
---------------------
Talbott stood before his mirror, readjusting his tie for probably the fifth time.
He was trying to soothe his nerves. Why you may ask?
Because of the Ball.
The Valentine’s Day Ball.
In his right mind, he would avoid such social gatherings like the plague. But it’s fair to say he hasn’t been much of his right mind ever since he met her.
Judith Harris.
A Hufflepuff witch with pale gold eyes and a heart of gold to match.
He met her alongside her best friend, David Willows, early third year. When they came to him seeking help on becoming Animagi. He was quick to shut both of them down. While David glared and protested, Judith eased the bullheaded Hufflepuff and gave him a shy sad expression along with an apology for disturbing him.
At the time, he wasn’t sure why he suddenly changed his mind to help the two. But as he got older, he did realize it was because of her.
Something about Judith was familiar. And…
He didn’t like the sad look into those bright eyes…
After the two achieved their forms and helped him find his feather necklace, Judith and Talbott became closer. Even to the point where he followed her out to the cemetery and learned about her dead father, Kendrick, on the anniversary of his death.
That’s when he learned that she was a part of his past.
That single day of his childhood where he made a friend. And developed a bond on a girl who he thought was unique with her long pretty locs and Caribbean accent.
With it being their 5th year, Talbott has gone on two dates with her. Their very first date out by the Black Lake and last year on Valentine’s Day when he learned that he has deeper feelings for her outside of a friendship.
He can still remember the sweet blush on her face after he shyly gave her a kiss on the cheek after gifting her with a heart statue.
Giving her a physical representation of his heart.
He fiddled with the ring she gifted him that day. He always remembers seeing it on a black chain around her neck on occasion. Judith was a person who cares about sentimental value so it’s very likely she gifted him something that has a level importance to her. But he was so stunned when she slipped it onto his finger, and that it fitted perfectly, while announcing that it was her Valentine’s Day gift to him that he forgot to ask…
Maybe today he will. After all, after the Ball, he had a special surprise for her.
Of course, there had to be some last minute changes when he realized a certain Slytherin witch ALSO planned on using the Library and two fairies also got into a squabble. He had at least a day to make the arrangement work and the “Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts” actually might of done him a favor.
It would be nice to revisit where their tale began.
Talbott sighed, looking over his appearance once more before turning on his heel and leaving his room.
‘I hope she likes what I planned. She’s the only who deserves to see this side of me,’ he thought as he made his way to the Great Hall.
——————
“C’mon Little Tigress! We’re gonna be late,” David huffed, knocking insistently on his best mate’s door.
“I look ridiculous! I’m not going anymore!” Came the stubborn reply from the other side. David rolled his eyes at Judith’s behavior.
They’ve been busting their asses to save the Valentine’s Day Ball from a lonely Madam Pince by using a pining Mr. Filch. However, due to all the planning and finally asking out Merula and Talbott (after Judith finally got over her initial shyness), they didn’t have time to style an outfit for themselves. So they went to the resident Style Wizard for help.
David’s pick was easy.
Judith however… not so much.
It was fair to say that Judith was more than disgruntled as she looked in the reflection for the suit Andre put together.
“You lost your damn mind Egwu if you think I’m going to the Ball like this. I look like a mom in her mid-30s looking to speak to your manager to file a complaint.”
David was on the floor in tears when he saw the offended look on the Ravenclaw wizard’s face. To be fair, the suit plus the pixie cut that Andre magically put together wasn’t doing his best mate any favors.
However, she didn’t step out to show the dress to them. She tried it on, switch back into her normal clothes, and left without much of another word.
Now David was curious to what could be wrong with Andre’s design for her to believe she looked “ridiculous”.
“C’mon Judith. What’s wrong with it? Surely it can’t be as bad as that suit Andre design,” David coaxed.
“…It’s… a lot…” David wasn’t sure what to make of that and they’re gonna be late if Judith kept this up.
“Judith, it’s either you open the door willingly to show me what you’re talking about or I break into your room to see for myself. We don’t have time for this right now,” David huffed. He didn’t want to late with for his dance with Merula.
Silence ensued and David was half considering going through with his threat when the tell tale sound of the door unlocking hit his eyes. David turned the knob and walked in.
He paused when he took in the sight of his little friend.
Judith was wearing a short black dress decorated with pink and red roses. A small slit can be found on her right leg. White 3-inch open toe heels were on her feet. Her usual ear accessories and earrings were present. A familiar dark red lipstick, dark eyeshadow, and black eyeliner made an appearance on her face. Her hair was out from its normal twists, curls and coils tumbling down her back and a bang swept over her right eye.
“David,” Judith mumbled awkwardly as her friend stared at her. That seemed to have broke the spell on the wizard as he shook his head to recollect himself.
“Well I’ll be damned… you look far from ridiculous, Judith. You look beautiful,” David said with a smile. Judith blushed and rubbed the back of her neck.
“You sure? It’s kind of revealing, don’t you think,” she asked. David cocked his head to the side, rescanning the girl from head to toe.
He could see her point, but it wasn’t as bad she probably thought it was.
The dress fitted her like glove, revealing the curves she was developing as a young woman. While the dress did show quite a bit of skin, it was still respectable.
“No, not really. To Bill and Orion, possibly but they’re big brothers who naturally want to keep every perverted wizard away from you. Hell, I may end up breaking someone’s teeth in if they think they can disrespect you like that. But you look beautiful Little Tigress, don’t think otherwise. Talbott would definitely agree with me,” David stated, watching his fellow Hufflepuff blushed at the name of the boy she’s been crushing on since third year.
David has been watching the two dance around each other since Judith admitted that she fancied the Ravenclaw wizard in the Charms classroom when practicing the Memory Charm. He was waiting for the two to finally get together already.
“If you’re done worrying, we still have a Ball to get to,” David said with a raised brow.
“But-EEP!” David already saw the protest in her eyes was quick to walk across the room and throw Judith over his shoulder. He only resorted to such measures when she was be difficult, and she was definitely being difficult.
“C’mon Little Tigress, your bird boy is waiting for you,” he said as he made his way out of her room. Judith spluttered over her words, mainly out of embarrassment at both what he said and the unnecessary position David has put her in.
“DAVID! Put me down, you brute! I’m in a dress for Merlin’s sake,” she protested loudly, wriggling in David’s unforgiving grip.
‘Damn demon lineage...’ she thought with a grimace.
“I'm well aware, we can clean you up when we're there with a spell, I not missing my chance to dance with Merula,” David said breezily. Judith gave up, allowing herself to be carried off like a sack of potatoes.
“Bloody sap... stupid dance,” she grumbled under her breath. David chuckled at her disgruntled mood.
“You’ll thank me for it by the end of the night, trust me,” he said. Judith pouted.
‘Assuming I don’t hide in a dark corner somewhere first...’
“Do that and I'm casting Lumos Maxima so there's nowhere for you to hide,” David said suddenly, nearly scaring the girl half to death. Judith mentally slapped her forehead out of exasperation.
She should know better not to think aloud around David, seeing how they’re both Legilmens.
Damn it...
“Fine,” she huffed. Luckily for her, they finally arrived near the entrance of the Great Hall. David finally set her down, and casting a spell that made her look presentable again.
David offered his arm to her.
“Shall we, Little Tigress?” Judith felt her cheeks heating up at the thought of the person waiting on her inside the Great Hall before letting out a sigh. She took her best mate’s arm.
“I guess we shall...”
-----------------------
Talbott was chatting alongside with Merula, twirling a red rose between his hands when he heard a whistle. Both turned to make out the figures of their dates not too far from them.
David separated himself from his fellow Hufflepuff to walk up to the two. David gave Talbott a smirk and nodded over in Judith’s direction before stealing Merula away.
Talbott only raised a brow at the Hufflepuff wizard’s behavior before walking up to his date for the night. As he stood in front of her, any words that he was going to say to her, died at the tip of his tongue.
Talbott stared at his date, heart racing with a blush on the high points of his cheekbones as he looked at her from her curls to her high heeled shoes. The silence was starting to unnerve the Hufflepuff witch as her long time love interest stared at her without saying anything.
“Y-you clean up quite nicely, Talbott,” she blurted. She mentally smack herself immediately afterwards.
‘When did I become this awkward, goodness…’
However, seem to have done the trick and snapped Talbott back to reality.
“S-sorry, little bird. I-I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable. I-It’s just that…” Talbott shook his head, trying to focus.
“It’s just that,” Judith echoed slowly, biting her bottom lip. She was worried that David might’ve been wrong and she looked like a fool in front of the boy she had feelings for.
Talbott stepped closer to her, tilting her head up by her chin so she could look at him. He offered a shy smile.
“You look beautiful, Judith. More lovely and temperate than a summer’s day,” He said softly, placing the rose he had behind her left ear. Judith blushed as she felt her heart race at his barely there touch.
“I-I… thank you, Talbott…” The Ravenclaw wizard smiled at the shy response. Behind them the instruments started seemed to be warming up to play the first song.
“May I have this dance,” Talbott asked, mock bowing to the girl. Judith giggled behind a red manicured hand.
“You may…” Taking her hand Talbott led Judith close to the center of the dance floor, with David and Merula standing not too far from them. The fairies that were lighting up the room swirled around the students, leaving them in awe at the magical moment. In the midst of this, David gave his friend a wink, who in turned returned it with an unimpressed glare. Judith returned her attention back to her date once she felt him take one of her hands
“I’m not usually one who likes public displays, but… I quite like this one… almost as much as I like you,” Talbott quietly admitted as he looked into pale gold eyes.
‘Is it possibly to pass out from blushing so much? Because I think I’m close…’ Judith thought as she ducked her head with a smile. Talbott was being so sweet and kind to her, she wanted to be wrapped up in his arms and dance the night away.
Judith looked back up at him with a teasing grin.
“I hope you like dancing too, because it’s our time to shine…”
————————
Talbott was smiling at the laughing girl in his arms as he spun her around. The two have been in their own little bubble ever since the dance started.
Their shy exteriors melted away leaving behind something much warmer and intimate. Anyone with eyes can see that they were clearly smitten with each other. Which were plenty watching them on occasion.
Red eyes darted around the Great Hall, finding the person he was looking for. He gave the Headmaster a subtle nod which he returned with a knowing smile. Talbott stepped back from Judith to clear his throat with a smile.
“All this dancing is making me thirsty, I think I’m gonna get a refreshment,” he said. Judith smiled at him, making his heart stutter in a lovestruck sigh.
“A refreshment sounds great, actually! I’ll go with you-”
“N-no need! I-I’ll get one for you! Just...  stay right there,” Talbott stuttered before taking off. Judith’s brows furrowed in confused as she watch Talbott disappear in the darkness.
Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder. Turning, she saw the cheery smile of David.
“Cheers, Little Tigress! I see that I was right about you enjoying yourself,” he said with a grin. Judith glared and punched his arm.
“Cheeky bastard,” she growled. David laughed good naturedly while rubbing his arm.
“I’m surprised you’re not with Synde. Seeing how eager you were to get here and be with her,” she retorted. David shrugged.
“Mer said she going to get refreshments for the both of us. She actually suggest I go find you to see how your night was so far,” David replied. Gold eyes narrow out of suspicion.
“That’s a little odd. Talbott just let to do the same thing...”
“Was it? I found it very typical  of Miss Synde and Mr. Winger,” a third voice said. David and Judith turned to see the amused face of their Headmaster.
The pair chatted with Professor Dumbledore for a while when Judith noticed something was amiss.
“It’s bit awhile since Merula and Talbott went to get refreshments. Surely it can’t take that long,” Judith pondered out loud. Dumbledore smiled.
“Clever eye, Miss Harris. That’s because they’re no longer here and they personally asked me to distract you,” he chuckled. David and Judith glanced at each other before looking back up at Dumbledore.
“Professor,” David asked warily. Dumbledore chuckled.
“Mr. Willows, you can head to the library. Miss Harris... while Mr. Winger wasn’t explicit with the location for you to go to, he did say ‘Remember our first date’ as a clue. Enjoy the rest of your storybook fairytale night, you two. You deserve it,” Professor Dumbledore informed the pair with a knowing smile.
Judith blushed walking out of the Great Hall with David. The two said their goodbyes as Judith made her way outside. Transforming into her Black Sparrowhawk, she couldn’t help but wonder what Talbott had planned at the Black Lake...
-----------------
Judith landed on the shore and transformed back, only to be surprised to find who was waiting for her.
“Lily,” she asked as the little fairy flew around her, buzzing out of excitement.
What was her little friend doing all the way out here?
The magical creature took ahold of her hand, tugging her to the Boat house.
“Okay, okay, I’m coming. Just slow down, I am wearing heels after all,” she laughed gently. Judith followed the excited fairy inside only to freeze at the door way.
Standing inside was Talbott. The place looked to have been cleaned out. Numerous fairies including her own lit up the Boathouse in a soft glow. Rose petals scattered the floor, along with some candles. A large heart made up of different colored roses was hung up behind the Ravenclaw wizard. A small table with some chairs of some of the food and drinks form the Ball sat in a corner. Somewhere in the background, there was soft music playing as well.
Talbott walked up to the stunned Hufflepuff witch and took her hand.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, little bird,” he spoke softly. Judith shook her head out of disbelief.
“W-what is all this, Talbott,” she asked. The young man bit his lip.
“I-I... I may have been planning this while I was at the Owlery... I wanted to surprise you. While I did originally plan to do this in the Library, someone else had the same idea... So I’d figured the Black Lake was the next best thing. I did have some help putting this together,” Talbott admitted.
Lily buzzed, as if she was giggling at the two. Judith rose a brow at her Fairy’s cheeky behavior before chuckling.
“I just thought that... after everything you’ve done for Hogwarts, for me, you deserved a storybook romance,” Talbott said. Judith rescanned the room before offering a smile.
“I had no idea that you could be such a romantic, Talbott. But clearly you are.” Talbott blushed, scratching the back of his neck.
“I guess all that poetry paid off...”
--------
The pair sat and ate, chatting in between. Talbott giving going as far to feed Judith a bit of a cupcake. He ended blushing when he felt her lips touch his fingers tips as she let out a pleased moan.
Currently they were slow dancing in the middle of the room, listening to the music softly playing in the background.
“This is really amazing, Talbott,” Judith spoke up, daring to look up at red eyes that reminded her of rubies.
“You’re the amazing one, Judith. I was simply following my heart,” Talbott replied, squeezing her closer. That foreign yet familiar scent that clung onto the Hufflepuff filled his nose.
“O-Oh stop it. I am not,” Judith insisted with a nervous laugh. Having Talbott so close to her was causing her heart to beat faster than normal. Talbott stopped dancing in favor of holding her hands. His gaze was unwavering.
“I mean it, little bird. You made this Valentine’s Day  perfect for everyone, even Flich and Pince... And especially for me,” Talbott confessed. Pearly whites flashed at him.
“All I wanted was a magical Valentine’s Day with my date,” Judith started, glancing down for a quick moment to gather herself before looking back up at Talbott through her lashes.
“...And... And I’m so happy that date is you...” And she was. Truly.
Talbott was the picture perfect gentleman. And the fact he went through great lengths to make Valentine’s Day memorable for her reminded her of happier times from her childhood. Except now it was with someone who likes her for her.
She hasn’t felt this special in years...
Talbott urged his heart to calm down as he reached for his wand.
“I feel the same way, Judith. And I... made something for you...” Stepping back, Talbott casted a spell, causing a book to appear. Judith blinked out of surprise at the book that hovered between them. Carefully reaching for it, she opened it to a random page somewhere in the beginning.
“...The loner poet listened to the Howler professed the words he wasn’t aware that lived in his heart. Speaking of a deep longing for a girl with otherworldly pale gold eyes. To never leave him because when he looks into her unique irises, he can see future. A future where he would wake up to them every morning. A future where he would look at child with the same eyes as her. A future that would lead to forever together.
He felt his heart stall in his chest, itching to cast a spell to light the Howler ablaze to prevent its words being heard by unwanted ears. It was then he smelled her before he heard her.
A hint of sea breeze that made him feel like he was standing so close the never-ending ocean. Chocolate that reminded him of her skin tone. A variety of fainter sweet scents, most he couldn’t name but the one he could pick out was honey.
Her melodious low voice sung to his eardrums:
“Hey, what did your Valentine Howler say?” He swiftly turned to find pale gold eyes curiously looking up at him. He could feel his heart speed up when he connected the dots.
It was her.
She was the one his heart longed for.
Everything that has transpired that day and this revelation became too much for the loner poet to take. He was quick to deny that his Howler hasn’t said anything, using the opportunity their teacher has created to leave the classroom.
He needed time. Time to think of what to do next...”
Judith was so engrossed in words written on the page that she didn’t realize that Talbott was now standing behind her.
“It’s not finished, more so of a... work in progress for an ongoing story...” Judith jumped a little when she felt his breath ghost over her visible ear.
“This is about you,” she whispered, releasing the book to float again. She turned to find Talbott staring down at her with half lid eyes.
“It’s about you and me, little bird,” he whispered, cupping one of her cheeks. Judith closed her eyes, leaning into his warm touch.
There was a shift in the air and she nervous but secretly excited to where this could lead...
Talbott withdrew for a moment forcing Judith to open her eyes again. She notice a heart shaped key necklace in his hand.
“What’s that,” she asked quietly.
“This is the key that unlocks the book. I made it be this way so you can wear it like a necklace. So our story would always be with you,” Talbott answered, carefully placing the it around her neck. A full body shiver raked Judith’s body when she felt the tips of his finger ghost over the sensitive skin.
“I... I never had someone put this much effort for me. To bare your feelings like this, Talbott... I... I don’t know what to say,” Judith confessed quietly. She could barely hear her own voice over the roar of blood rushing to her face combined with the sound of her heartbeat pounding against her eardrums.
Talbott caressed her cheek again.
“I don’t expect an answer from you right away little bird. I’m more than happy to do this for you. You’re the only one who deserves to see this side of me...” Talbott leaned closer aiming to place a kiss on her cheek. Much like he did last year.
What Judith did next surprised both of them.
Turning her head ever so slightly, she caught Talbott’s lips with her own. This stunned the pair, both remaining motionlessly for a few moments. Just as the Ravenclaw wizard was about to pull back, Judith held him there by his tie, pressing against him. Her painted lips moved against his unresponsive ones slowly, testing the waters and his resolve.
After a moment of deliberation, Talbott gave in and returned the unexpected kiss. With one hand cupping her face, its twin finding refuge on her lower back, pushing her closer still. Judith released his tie in favor of wrapping her arms around his neck, melting in his embrace. Both of them were placed under a cloudy haze as their lips continued to move against one another.
The pair broke apart for air, foreheads resting against one another. Talbott silently licked his lips, picking up the taste of vanilla.
‘She tastes just as sweet as she looks. Good Gods help me...’ came the helpless thought as he found himself at the end of Judith’s sultry stare.
‘What are you doing to me, Talbott? Why do I feel this way towards you...’
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Talbott,” Judith whispered, placing a soft kiss against the corner of his lips. Talbott shivered at the sound of her voice, which has dipped down an octave. Her accent came out, loud and clear. His hands, which has migrated to her waist, squeezed down on the curve for a few seconds.
He could listen to her speak to him like this for hours...
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Judith... Thank you for being my valentine...” Judith let out soft chuckle, pulling him in for another kiss.
In the midst of this an involuntary thought passed through her mind. One which would shatter the Hufflepuff witch later on.
‘I love you, Talbott...’
-------------------
Some time has passed since the Valentine’s Day Ball. Judith more or less went back to her life as per usual.
With occasional outing with Talbott when classes and working for Rakepick became too much for her.
It was late at night and she was at the shore of the Black Lake, practicing her spellwork. She always wanted to remain sharp on her skills and it was a way for her to prepare for the upcoming O.W.L.S., which was approaching fast.
She decided to practice the Patronus Charm, seeing how she hasn’t casted it in awhile.
“Expecto Patronum!”
What came out of the tip of her wand shocked her.
Instead of her usual Siberian Tiger was a-
“G-Golden E-Eagle?!” Her eyes watched as the avian predator flew above her before disappearing.
She shocked her head, not believing what she just saw.
Over and over again, she casted the spell, waiting to see her beloved tiger. Only to watch the animal that came out soar its wings above her.
Her legs gave out from beneath her.
“No, no, no! How can this be happening?! Patronuses don’t change,” she panicked. A vague memory came resurfaced in her mind.
“Though I have heard of Patronuses changing forms after falling in love...” Judith’s eyes widen.
That voice belonged to Tonks when they were dealing with the Dementor threat from last year.
Another memory surfaced, however, much older...
“Gift this ring to the one your heart desires above all others. It will only fit and accept that one person, anyone else, it’ll reject and return to you...” Tears ran down her cheeks. When she realized what memory it was.
“Gran-Gran...” came the broken whisper. Her grandmother gifted her a magical blue and silver ring before she died. The same ring she gave to Talbott just a year prior. She didn’t remember her dear grandmother’s words when she gave it to him.
Now that she thought about it, the ring never returned to her. And it was on Talbott’s left ring finger the night of the Ball.
Even as she kissed him, those three words that haunted her since childhood has crossed her flowery dazed mind.
She couldn’t do anything but face the truth. To speak the words that haunted her in form of a Boggart from third year.
“I love Talbott Winger...”
And she was secretly terrified.
Because she knew if he were to confess the same, she was done for.
Her heart would be his.
And risk breaking if he were to ever leave...

Why to this day I still believe Rowan deserved better
This was meant to be an observation on several characters in Hogwarts Mystery, but Rowan's entry took over lol I'll cover the others in a separate post since this one's already gonna be lengthy.
Spoilers for Year 6 included!
Short version: They didn't get the chance to grow and develop in the way they should've, and what became of them following Year 6 never sat right with me.
Long version below the cut:
Tumblr media
Rowan is the character most of us expected would grow into the nerdy best friend that would eventually break out of their shell and become awesome in their own right. All of the signs were there, but as we all know how the game progressed, that was no longer the case.
It became evident they weren't going to be Hogwarts' youngest professor since there's no hint of them during the Harry Potter years. Some suspected something bad might've happened, while others (like myself) felt that they simply chose a different career path or became professor at another school.
NOPE
Rowan was the first character we mastered our friendship with and after the first 3-4 years, were barely included in the plot. As the player, we literally had no choice as we were forced to spend less and less time with them. The Celestial Ball was possibly the only event where Rowan truly shined in my opinion, and in my playthrough with Reina I always made the choices where I'd spent the most time with them.
Not only is the player not given a choice in interacting with Rowan, but then you get guilt tripped for it when Rowan calls out MC in Year 5 for only reaching out to them when they needed something.
Tumblr media
(OUCH lol)
Personally, I found that to be rather jarring and unfair, not just to Rowan but to the player. Rather than forcing the player to not interact with them, why not give the player the option in doing so? Rowan's comment above would've been far more justified if the player intentionally chose to ignore them.
By Year 6, players noted Rowan was seen sitting alone and sad in places like the Library and The Three Broomsticks. When you get around to talking to them later on, this is elaborated on by them saying their mutual friends were more MCs friends which never made sense to me. Their friends cared for Rowan just as much as they did MC. Barnaby commented at one point that Rowan was a great friend and excellent tutor.
Then that dreaded event happens in Chapter 18 and just like that, Rowan's gone.
Tumblr media
(No, I'm not posting the screenshot of their dead body. The face they made still creeps me the hell out.) - Screenshot taken from Reddit
Needless to say, most of us certainly didn't see this coming. I know I didn't. Even some of Rowan's biggest haters were shocked at where this headed (I'm sure there was the handful that celebrated but they're irrelevant). While I was already starting to lose interest in the game because the gameplay became so TEDIOUS for me, this was what drove me to officially stop playing altogether. The only times I do play is for either the Quidditch chapters or some of the Side Quests.
By this point in time I was at the final quarter of Year 5 (second time around with Reina after the previous file got corrupted and erased), and to this day I haven't touched the main storyline. I'll be honest, seeing that "friendship is forever" above is kind of insulting considering the player was never given a choice. Rowan only became relevant again after being murdered and that has always rubbed me the wrong way. Remember how we were lead to believe the casualty was going to be Ben, since in the prior chapter he made it clear he wasn't afraid of dying?
The Head Boy/Girl TLSQ further cemented my feelings on this matter (didn't play it but I saw the screenshots from those that did). Sure, it adds a layer of tragedy depending on who you ask, but overall I never liked this development. With the way several other characters received some form of development over time (Talbott and Chiara anyone?), having what became of Rowan cements my belief that we were robbed of great potential.
THEY DESERVED BETTER
Tumblr media

To this day I feel this encounter is what sealed Rowan's fate. At the time this chapter came out, Ben and Rowan were the least popular characters.
Feel free to add on to this if you like!
One more thing to add, you're free to disagree with Jam City's writing, but for the love of decency, sending death threats their way isn't the way to do it. Just don't.

i’ll always be with you. (part 1)
A two part fic inspired from the recently released Head Kid TLSQ! Unedited, unpolished, but hopefully enjoyable all the same. This was written with the Etched, Engraved, Everlasting events in mind.
Part 2 will be uploaded when I finish the TLSQ and write that up.
It was ten past ten.
At least, that was the time she saw on the clock above the courtyard as she sat at the fountain’s edge, her gaze fixed on the clear night sky. The lack of sextants and telescopes made the stars look farther away but seeing the tiny twinkles in the dark blue brought a forced smile to her face—forced in the bittersweet wake of tragedy resurfaced. There was never a day when she never thought of her fallen friend, her tree twin, and to take a grand desire any student would have wanted—most especially hers…
Dumbledore wanted to consider her.
She did not even think she could consider herself.
“What am I going to do?”
Clara brought her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them in a fetal position, her gaze now blurred as tears welled in her eyes. As they trailed down her cheeks in a blazing rush, she shivered slightly in the night air; even with the full-length dress Rowan gifted her after the Celestial Ball, it didn’t exactly do much to block the cool night breeze, or ease her mind to think in sharper clarity.
“Rowan would know exactly what I should do,” she murmured, blinking rapidly as fatigue settled in.
“Of course I know exactly what you should do.”
“Huh?”
A voice, a voice so familiar spoke to her—yet no one was around.
“Rowan?”
The whisper of her name brought her to light now—the outline, and then the colour, of a student that she had dubbed her best friend, her tree twin, from the very first days at Hogwarts. With her messily tied Gryffindor tie and charming smile, there was no mistaking her.
“Hi Clara. I missed you.”
It took everything in Clara now not to squeal at the sight of Rowan sitting beside her. She looked just the same from the days before the ambush in the forest, before Rakepick cast the Killing Curse so mercilessly on her dear friend. Time and space mattered no longer in the moment—given the power, she would have hugged her friend so tightly she would never let go.
“Rowan!” Clara cried in sheer relief. “But…how are you here? Are you a ghost?”
Rowan’s smile faded slightly at the question. “You ask as if we don’t see ghosts every day at Hogwarts.”
“So…so this is happening! I’m so happy to see you!”
And that, at the very least, was true. The tears that once welled out of anguish were now spilling over her face in joy, eyes shining behind her own glasses like the twinkling stars in the sky. She wiped the tears quickly now on the sleeves of the dress and pulled out her wand. “Here, let me take a better look at you. Lumos!”
And as the light shone over her friend, she felt a buzz of warmth resonate in her chest. It wasn’t exactly her best friend in the flesh, but seeing her now, even just a memory of her, was enough to make her feel content.
“Lumos…That was the first spell we learned in our very first Charms class together,” Rowan reminisced fondly, a small smile blooming. “You remember.”
“Of course I do. It’s so wonderful to see you, Rowan,” Clara said sincerely, stowing her wand away. “You’re really here. You’re really back.”
“I’ve never left you, Clara. I’m always with you.” Rowan reached out and patted Clara’s shoulder, though Clara could feel nothing. “I’m just…not at Hogwarts anymore.”
“I know, Rowan. I’m so sorry,” Clara apologized then, the memory of the tragedy hitting her full force. “I know why you went after us in the Forbidden Forest that night. I know you were following me to protect me.”
Rowan’s eyes widened at the realization, and then she sighed. “Charlie and Em told you, did they? They weren’t supposed to tell you.”
“They knew. They told me after the memorial. And it was fair of them to—I had to understand what happened.” Clara balled her hands into fists as the tears pricked her eyes again. “I’m sorry. I never got to thank you.”
“Hey. What I did was my choice. And we all make choices,” Rowan told her.
“I know. And after you died, I was trying to remember our last time together,” Clara admitted. “You wanted to come with me to the train station…”
Rowan nodded eagerly. “Yes, I remember the clock stuck at ten past ten! And casting Rictusempra until our bellies hurt from all the laughter!” she recalled with a laugh.
The sound of her laugh brought a sweet wash of nostalgia over Clara’s conscience, and she laughed too at the happier memory of them earlier that year. The wait for the pearl dust and powdered moonstone for the love potion trade would have felt much longer without a friend to talk with, and for a moment she could taste the sweetness of the past, clinging fast onto the fabric of the dress.
“I never thought of it to be a day that was so special,” Clara admitted. “I mean, we had a lot of other good times together, too. Remember the Celestial Ball? And the first time we had Butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks together? And the time you helped Fang get over his fear of cats?”
Rowan nodded at them all. “How could I ever forget, Clara? I was the one who gifted you the dress you’re wearing now,” she reminded her. “You look stunning in it yourself.”
Clara smiled fondly. “Well, you know what they say, right? Everything is better with a friend. Though I keep thinking what if I’d decided you shouldn’t come with me that day…my last memory of you would have been of leaving you out.”
“That’s just how choices work,” Rowan said. “Imagine how dull life would be if all was decided for you.”
“I figured the future wasn’t always meant to be clear, but sometimes I wish I did have some idea,” Clara said. “Still, is this why you’re here? Did you choices leave you stuck? Do you need my help to move on?”
“It’s not me who needs help moving on.” Rowan gestured to her friend with a hand. “Here, let me explain…”
And so they talked, almost like nothing had changed. The grief and sadness still gave way in most of the conversation, the emotions laden heavy on Clara’s shoulders until she broke down and let it go. In one night, she could lose her tree twin as quickly as she had found her again. Death did horrible things to not only the ones who still roamed the earth, but the spirits who found unrest in the wake of the phenomenon—and Clara was not ready to let her go.
She never thought of it then, and she could not think of it now. Not now, when loneliness held her in its grasp for so long despite the company of other friends around her, and her sister willing to break the rules to find her and comfort her.
“You think proving myself ready to become Head Girl will help me get over your death?” Clara finally asked Rowan.
“Perhaps not over it, really, but through it for a start,” Rowan responded with a smile. “Besides, you deserve to be happy. You need to go back to chasing dreams.”
“I don’t know, Rowan.” Clara hesitated at the thought of accepting the position again—it was what held her back the second Dumbledore indirectly proposed this to her. “Being Head Girl had always been your dream. I know you wanted to see me become Prefect way back in fourth year when I told you about it before—but this is different now. Only one boy and one girl in our class get to become Head Boy and Girl. I can’t picture anyone else but you getting the position.”
Rowan’s eyes softened in concern, almost as if the thought had just occurred to her too. Then she said, “You told Dumbledore I would understand if you wanted the same dream—and I do. I want this for you, tree twin.”
“Wait, you know of that?” Clara sat up in shock at the words. “You really are with me always.”
“Clara, you will always be my first and best friend,” Rowan told her. “You’ll always be my tree twin. And you’ll always be the one I could be my weird self around.” Her smile then turned into a frown, eyes furrowed in worry. “I wish I had more ‘always’ things ahead of me, but instead, all I have left are ‘nevers’.”
“How do you mean?”
“I’m dead, Clara. I can never become the youngest professor at Hogwarts, I can never be Head Girl…” Rowan took a shaky breath. “I can never go home to the tree farm, never read my favourite book…never jump in puddles to hear the splash…”
So Rowan did have regrets after all. “Oh, Rowan,” Clara finally murmured in grief, her arms surging forward only to halt halfway to embrace her friend.
Rowan simply laughed and held her arms up too, hugging her friend in an airy embrace. “That’s what makes the ‘always’ so special,” she said then. “If you become Head Girl, it’s an honour and experience you’ll always have. Your name will always be in the Hogwarts trophy room.”
“And I’ll always be an integral part of Hogwarts history,” Clara mused. “I suppose if you put it that way, it sounds nice to consider it.”
They both let go of the embrace and looked at each other, a small smile tugging up at Clara’s lips. “So I would be doing this for you, then?”
“No. You’d be doing it for you,” Rowan clarified.
“What? But—but I expected you to be Head Girl, so I’ve never thought about how to prove myself as one,” Clara told her.
“Lucky for you, I know how,” Rowan remarked. “To move forward, you must first look back.”
“Wait. To move forward, you must first look back?” Clara tilted her head in confusion as the words settled in. “Is this a riddle? How do I do that?”
Rowan only smiled sadly. “I know you can do this, Clara. Good luck.”
“Good luck? Rowan—wait!” Clara’s eyes widened at Rowan’s final words. “You’re leaving? No! Rowan, please don’t leave! There’s still so much I want to say!”
“Hey.” Rowan’s figure already began to fade away as she set her hand on Clara’s shoulder one last time. “I told you, I never left you. I’m always with you, tree twin. And I always will be.”
Her smile was the last thing Clara saw before she disappeared altogether into the shadows.
To move forward, you must first look back…But what must she look back to? How far back did she have to go? Where could she start? When could she start?
Grief held her in its clutches because Rowan died. The Circle of Khanna was born because of the anger, grief, and trauma that birthed in the wake of the tragic untimely loss.
She set her jaw and balled her fists tightly. If her hunch and instincts served her right, she knew where to go first.

the jae/chiara background interactions are back in the new chapter which is interesting. maybe they’re just friends after all and the interactions weren’t meant to be taken romantically. also bea was sitting by herself at the hufflepuff table, she looked pretty lonely. if her and ismelda really haven’t broken up friends then idk why it lowkey seems like they’re hinting that they did. unless they did have an argument but then made up before that year 7 sq?
I think it would be a great thing if Jae and Chiara were friends, that was always a possibility as well. Prior to the Festival TLSQ, most people interpreted that as ship tease and hey, no reason that they can't still be shipped. Unless your MC romances either of them, that can still be a ship that occurs in the background. But it's also just great to see a friendship between a boy and girl, because we need more representation of that in media, and specifically, we need male/female friendships that do not address the possibility of shipping, because I am so tired of male/female friendships in media giving a "reason" for why they're not dating. As if that's in any way necessary.
Anyway I'm getting off on a bit of a tangent. Either way, it's still weird that this continues to go on in the background without any acknowledgment in the story or the dialogue of any quest. It's great if Chiara and Jae are best mates, but why doesn't that ever get mentioned? There's no indication in any scene that includes either character that the two of them even know each other. Why is that? Does Jae supply ingredients for Wolfsbane Potion, is that the reason? I could buy that, except the school is supposed to be providing that for her already, and we've even seen Snape giving Chiara doses of it before.
Oh man, I'm so worried about Beatrice. I don't know what's going on with her, but that whole concept of her sitting by her lonesome at the table is just...I mean, it takes me back to Merula sitting by herself during Christmas with her head on the table. But at least in that case, most students were gone and Merula is probably unpopular. Why wouldn't Beatrice have someone to reach out to her, in Hufflepuff of all Houses? I've always just assumed that she probably has friends in her Year, that she must have...but what if she doesn't? What if she's more unpopular than she lets on? We really don't know much about her social status...

What sort of side quests would you want to see in the game in 2021? We can expect a valentines sq, a Halloween sq, a Christmas sq, a hippogriff club sq, a dragon club sq, and at least two quidditch side quests (one of which being the season 3 housecup). Are there any characters like Ismelda or Alanza that should have friendship quests? Are there any canon characters like Dobby, Myrtle, or Lockheart that you’d like to see more of in future side quests or should their involvement be minimal? Should stuff like apparition be a side quest? Or should there be a hold on side quests to try and improve the quality of the story for year 7?
You basically hit the spot with the last question. Yes, I think the devs should dedicate most of their work on improving the main story for Y7. I’m personally really losing interest in side quests, and I feel like they’re putting quantity over quality. To be clear, I’m thinking here mostly about time-limited side quests. The regular ones are usually much better, in my opinion, and I actually wouldn’t mind having more of those. I’m not sure if that’s a matter of them not being unnecessarily stretched out or perhaps it’s simply a different writing team responsible for them – because they happen to be more cohesive with the main plot.
That being said, TLSQs means money for Jam City, so there’s no way there’ll be fewer of them or that they’ll be replaced by regular SQs. I wish we could at least decide when they trigger. For example, when Jam City releases the new quest or you reach a certain point of the story, you get a notification: “You’re about to start a TLSQ. Do you want to start it NOW?”. People still would be likely to spend money as the quest would be time-limited, but we could avoid situations when you accidentally opened the game when you have absolutely no time to re-open it in the next 3-4 days.
I’m sure you’re right about all the guaranteed TLSQs: V-Day, Halloween, Christmas, a Hippogriff Club sq, a Dragon Club sq, and some quidditch side quests. It also happens that I’m not particularly interested in any of them… But oh well. I mean, the recent Christmas TLSQ was really nice, but that’s it. I believe we should also expect more creatures side quests (at least they’re not time-limited). Oh, and there will probably be a TLSQ for Head Girls and Boys, similar to the one for Prefects at the beginning of Y5.
I’d love to see Ismelda’s TLSQ (just not Merula-centric for a change…). I’d rather it to be a regular quest, though, especially if it’s supposed to open the friendship with her. There were some hints on the possibility of a quest involving Ismelda’s sister. By the way, probably most of our friends could use a side quest on their own.
I also wouldn’t mind Alanza’s TLSQ – just let it be a bit more complex than throwing some crazy party. Maybe focused more on Castelobruxo? And speaking of that… I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a TLSQ about Durmstrang or maybe even some other schools. The Bauxbatons TLSQ kinda suggested that if I remember correctly.
As for canon characters… PLEASE, no more of them. Please. Most of the stories involving them don’t make much sense in the overall picture, so it’s just pointless fan service. Jam City also can’t place them properly in the timeline, so they mess both with the books and the game itself. The only canon character I want to see at this point is Horace Slughorn – and that’s purely because Rakepick was probably in his Slug Club, so he could tell us some very interesting information (the idea stolen from @wilhelminafujita). That being said, that’s a rather unpopular sentiment, and the writers likely wouldn’t even think of that, so I’m not holding my breath.
Finally, Apparition is almost definitely gonna be a TLSQ, though I’d rather it be included in the main story – as the Patronus TLSQ should’ve been. If they did it, they wouldn’t have to come up with some weird workarounds when the skill is relevant for the plot. And I feel that Apparition might be important at some point. Sure, MC can technically Apparate with someone else, but why not to make things easier? Especially that MC mentioned learning Apparition next term during our recent conversation with Jacob.

Anyone who thinks MC wasn't too affected, have y'all not seen "Head Boys and Girls"?? They're a wreck. (Also featuring Chiara helping to put their broken heart back together, bless her) It is a little odd though that Penny brew her own Draught of Peace instead of going to the Hospital Wing (when she even said it is commonly administered for anxiety). And Barnaby did snap when MC and Rowan were fighting and it was a key moment in his character.
I think MC absolutely is falling apart over the course of Year 6, and...holy heck, the Head Kid TLSQ may just be my favorite one of all time for a number of reasons, including the scenes with Chiara, including MC dealing with what happened, and just overall, the honoring of Rowan that it does. That said, technically it is “just” a TLSQ. So in that sense it is optional. I believe a lot of people are waiting for MC to have some kind of breakdown in the main story itself, and are also expecting it to be an intense one. That there will be tears, anger, or both. That they’ll lash out. This didn’t happen in Year 6, which I don’t mind, but the weird thing is that it was totally foreshadowed. Right down to Dumbledore directly telling MC that something like this could happen. And it was bold-faced text, so you know that mattered.
Barnaby did snap at everyone to stop fighting, and that broke my heart. I mean, that entire scene did. It felt like a teaser for what everyone would feel like in Year 6, in hindsight. It gave us such a terrible insight into Barnaby’s history, especially when coupled with what we later see through legilimency, that he oh so cheerfully brushes off. That poor guy...he, like Ismelda and Tulip and Merula, so badly needs to be rescued. As for Penny, I’m fairly sure her not going to the Hospital Wing was probably some combination of her not thinking clearly (which seemed to be a theme throughout her depression in Year 5) as well as wanting to take matters into her own hands because she thought she could make the potion herself, and so long as she was making it herself, no one could cut her off. In the Hospital Wing, Madam Pomfrey would be the one to decide if and when Penny got the potion. If she makes it herself, she’s the one who gets to.

pretty surprised corey’s a head kid ngl. i mean we definitely should’ve seen them around before this, i can’t think of why we wouldn’t have. but also they kinda seem like they mess around a lot from that muggle studies dialogue i wonder why they tried out for that position or maybe they got recommended by someone? 🤔
I’m not surprised. They’re a brand new character and if they were going to introduce an alternate Head Kid, it was always going to be a new character. I mean, I didn’t really expect it, but in hindsight it feels obvious. Because of course they’d introduce another Head Kid. With Prefects, there’s half a dozen others, which means either assigning the role to that many characters in canon...or creating just as many new characters. But why do that when they already have the existing characters who were prefects to MC? This is different. There’s only one other Head Kid, and the game has a precedent for creating characters who change gender based on MC. I wish it could have been Rowan...imagine Rowan and MC being Head Kids together. It’s beyond perfect. But, since that was never to be, this makes sense. If they didn’t create Corey, they’d have to designate already existing characters to be the Head Boy and Girl opposite MC respectively. (Penny seems like an obvious choice for the girls, or Badeea. Not sure about the boys.) Even so, I feel like Corey isn’t going to be around very much outside of side-quests anyway. Technically, MC doesn’t have to be the Head Kid, any more than they had to be Prefect. The TLSQs are optional. So I don’t expect we’ll see Corey much outside of Head Kid sidequests. Then again...they are in classes, so who knows?

SPOILERS for “Head Boys and Girls” TLSQ (post Y6Ch18)!
Tumblr media
Oh, sure. Rip my heart apart, why not.
Tumblr media
Because you’re lying low at Rakepick’s house or something, right? I know I’m right.
Tumblr media
Poor baby has no company in hiding...
I know it’s pretty clear that the whole scene was MC’s dream, but I have to say, it’s a bit amusing to me how well it fits my “Six minutes” AU ideas. You see, a while ago I posted headcanon about Jacob’s illusion magic. And now, just days ago, I had a thought that if someone uses Occlumency, those illusions aren’t super effective - so they might look somewhat like Rowan here. Of course, MC sucks at Occlumency, so it wouldn’t really apply. Still, it’s funny to think about.

As a Prefect, we really weren’t given that many opportunities to use our authority over other students. In fact, I can think of a couple moments we could’ve dished out/threaten others with detention and take away house points. Emily Tyler reading Ismelda’s diary, Beatrice blackmailing MC to go to the Black Lake, and Merula ambushing MC to teach her Protego. Now that we’re becoming Head Boy/Girl, we should be given some opportunities.
Oh yeah, the Emily Tyler example was one that occurred to me in the moment as well. There’s no reason MC couldn’t have pulled rank in that situation, and it’s exactly the sort of situation where I’d argue that they’re supposed to. The quest doesn’t drop until Year 5, and it isn’t even a TLSQ. I suppose the issue here is that the Prefect Quest is miss-able, it is a TLSQ. But we could still have exclusive dialogue for it. I mean, we had exclusive dialogue in the story for it, if memory serves. I can understand not making use of MC’s Prefect status very often because in theory, there are players who won’t have it...but hey, they find ways to integrate the damn Animagus Ability into various TLSQs as a dialogue choice that simply remains locked if you haven’t finished that quest. (Some of these opportunities appear in quests that drop before the Animagus Quest is even available. But that’s a whole other issue and I don’t want to get off topic.) If they can do that, surely they could do something similar for our Head Kid responsibilities?
Though in regards to the other examples, I don’t know that it would have done any good. MC was already breaking rules when Beatrice blackmailed them, so they wouldn’t really be able to enforce any punishments without outing themself as well. With the Shield Charm example, that was a Circle of Khanna meeting, that Filch ended up busting anyway. I’ve complained before that simply holding a theoretical conversation about learning a spell that’s already on the curriculum anyway is a ridiculous and pathetic excuse to give MC detention when Dumbledore had already approved The Circle of Khanna. But even if Filch hadn’t showed up to “catch” them in “wrongdoing,” I likewise don’t see MC being able to enforce their authority as a Prefect since they wouldn’t want to tell the higher-ups what was actually going on. Besides, Merula was already blatantly disregarding their authority as the Circle’s leader. I doubt MC being a Prefect would make a difference to her.

OMG THERE’S CODE FOR GHOST ROWAN!!! It’s literally called “Rowan_NotAGhost”! This means we’ll see them again! I just hope they don’t only show up in the Head boy/girl TLSQ. Probably won’t tbh, this is way too major for it to be sidequest exclusive.
...Okay no, I need a moment. Scratch that, I need a day. I’ll be back.
This is the happiest bit of news we’ve gotten for the story in...oh god, in a while. Rowan’s return as a ghost isn’t that surprising, now that I think about it. Doing so allows Jam City to have them be killed off and remain dead, but still allows MC to see them again in a way that’s well established in-universe. Fun fact: During Year 5, I speculated that Merula would die and return as a grumpy ghost, but so long as we’re mirroring Jacob, Rowan makes even more sense.
Seriously, this is both breaking my heart and healing it at the same time, and I don’t know how it’s doing both, but it is. This means that Rowan can indeed be the youngest Professor in Hogwarts History. They can succeed Binns whenever he retires - and actually make History of Magic engaging for the students! They can watch over MC and MC’s descendants like a guardian angel. I don’t know, the books always suggested that becoming a ghost was ultimately a worse fate than simply moving on to the afterlife...but if Rowan can have their dream eventually, then it’s worth it. Whatever you do, don’t imagine Rowan learning about the Circle of Khanna and their reaction to that.
I have no idea if this will be confined to the Head Kid TLSQ. I sincerely hope that it won’t, but it could be. Still, like you said, this is a major thing. If they’re returning as a ghost, that isn’t a one-off appearance. It’s not a Resurrection Stone cameo. There’s no reason they couldn’t become a mainstay or at least a recurring character again. Does this mean Rowan can interact with their brother? Oh, my heart. My heart. But what I figure may happen is that the Head Kid TLSQ will precede Rowan’s appearance as a ghost in the main story, and there will be exclusive dialogue for players who have finished it and those who haven’t, similar to how some MCs know Chiara’s secret in Year 6, others don’t.

I became a prefect for 2 reasons: 1. The bathroom. 2. Being a prefect could help mc stay on the straight and narrow while earning trust from staff. But head student just sounds unnecessary. That was for Rowan.
I remember being hit with the feelz when Rowan so instantly and happily stepped aside for MC - and talked about how they could still be Head Student, no less! They were such a loyal friend from the start, to the very end. Even though I never chose “Forget Rowan” seeing what happens if you do...more feelz. The bad kind. I honestly envision Luca telling the staff in no uncertain terms that “Rowan deserves this far more than me, and you damn well know it!”
With that in mind, just...no. I might not even finish the TLSQ (I’ll still play it, of course) because there’s just. No way. I could ever. Maybe Gail would buy into the idea of becoming Head Girl to honor Rowan, but Luca just would not take that badge ever. I understand that someone needs to be Head Student, but it doesn’t have to be MC. Penny can be Head Girl, she’d be great. Or Badeea. Or Liz. For Head Boy? I dunno, probably Talbott? Or Charlie - though maybe he can’t be, since he was never mentioned to have been so in the books. Still, the point stands. Anyone but MC....

Heyo, I haven’t played HPHM in like a month and a half and I’m trying to get back into it soooooo How have you been ! and how’s the community doing? Did I miss anything big ?
Hello, and welcome back! I’m not really sure what’s been going on in the last month precisely, as thanks to Quarantine, the months have been blurring together for me for a while now. However! The main recent things to know, if you don’t know already, are thus.
Hogwarts has clubs now. There isn’t too much, at least not yet, but they’re easy enough to passively level while you play the game regularly. Penny is the companion character, because of course she is.
Erika Rath had a TLSQ where she could be added as a friend. Most people don’t like it though, for reasons that rhyme with Cry Barkin.
Beatrice is also available now as a friend, if you didn’t know. But she’s added through the main story and it’s incredibly wholesome.
There’s another TLSQ about MC becoming Head Boy/Head Girl, and it’s jam packed with feels. Considering which character coveted that job, I think you can guess why.
There’s another Dating Quest on the horizon, and according to Datamines it’s all finished, but Jam City has yet to release it and no one is sure why. Thankfully, it doesn’t cut anyone, and it adds new characters.
Everyone thinks Tulip is going to die for some reason. I doubt it, but that’s what people are saying.
Going off the most recent plan in the main story, MC hasn’t learned a god damn thing from Chapter 18. That is all I will say.
