Tma/Pokémon AU concepts (+art)

so, people liked the Jmart Pokémon sprites i made, so here's a rough outline of how I think my AU is going to work

it would talk place in a version of Galar, but with 14 (or maybe 15 if i decide to include the extinction) gyms, which focus more on an aesthetic rather than a typing. none of these gyms have leaders, instead just having a bunch of members. these gyms would also probably function as the evil teams of sorts.

Jon and martin are research fellows for a professor (Jonah) in Galar. Jon has a Meowstic and an Absol, Martin has a Galvantula.

prof. Jonah Magnus is jmart's boss and keeps sending them out to study more and more dangerous Pokémon, while secretly preparing to sacrifice Jon to an unspecified legendary Pokémon (i also realized while making this that i don't have a Jonah design)(i'm not sure yet how Elias will play into this, he'd probably be like a failed sacrifice or something)

Sasha works as a librarian at the local trainer school, and often helps to provide resources for Jon and Martin. she has a Yanma, a Zoroark, a Mudsdale, and a Banette.

Tim and Danny (who lives bc fuck you) are ace trainers, specializing in fire and electric-type Pokémon respectively. they have a friendly rivalry with Sasha, and often annoy Jon by randomly challenging him to battles. they provide the actual battling strength to the team. Tim has a Centiskorch, Skeledirge, Volcarona, and a Hisuian Arcanine. his ace is a Talonflame. Danny has an Eelektross, Alolan Raichu, Boltund, and a Dedenne. his ace is a Vikavolt. they also each have an Oricorio of their respective typing.

i have some little doodles and mini-comics I'll post separately, probably tomorrow, but in the meantime feel free to send in asks or suggestions.

Thinking about a tma pokemon au.

Michael unknowingly bringing his stantler into the distortion with him. After he is consumed, you can occasionally see a twisted deer-like creature roaming the halls of the distortion.

Gertrude having an elderly absol named Adam that ends up outliving her. He sleeps in Jon's office and refuses to leave unless vanishing into the tunnels. Jon later becomes his legal trainer, but Adam doesn't obey him at all.

Jon got a pokemon way later than normal after collage. He now has an eevee named Commander. Jon isn't very good at being a trainer but Commander loves him anyway. Like most eevelutions, Commander evolves with a close bond with Jon. Unfortunately having a close bond with an eldritch creature can cause a new type of evolution...

Martin has a swablu named Dandy. She likes to chase Commander around for fun. In season 4 Martin rarely takes Dandy rarely comes out of her ball. He doesn't want to find out what happens to pokemon in the lonely.

Peter has a really messed up wingull. It is strangely still and its colors are faded.. He doesn't seem attached to it and it doesn't seem attached to him.

Sasha had a alola vulpix named Snowflake. Everyone finds it odd when suddenly Snowflake starts growling at her trainer. Tim adopts her in season 3

Tim has a pacharisu named Erin. Erin was banned from being out of pokeball on institute grounds after trying to attack Elias's Alakazam.

Admiral is a purugly. He was Georgie's first pokemon. She also has a punkaboo and duskull. Since she can't feel fear, she gets along really well with dark and ghost type pokemon.

Melanie wanted to be a trainer when she was young, so she does have a full team. However, since keeping a full team in London is expensive, most live at a boarding facility for trainers run by a professor. She keeps a psyduck named Binky as a pet. He's a little dummy and Melanie would die for him. The rest of Melanie's team are poison and steel types.

Bassira and Daisy, as cops, both have dog pokemon. Bassira has a growlithe named Amon. Daisy has a lycanroc named Marigold. Marigold is a pokemon avatar of the hunt. She has to be muzzled or she will bite you. Daisy has regrets.

Elias can afford to have a full pokemon team. He is good at battling but doesn't have a very strong connection with any of his pokemon. He has many, many, pokemon over the years and the magic has worn off. That being said, he does seem to favor his yanmask.

Fragmented Ideas from my TMA pokemon au that I'll never write

The entities after traveling somewhere else end up possessing legendary pokemon

Arceus fuses a fragment of itself with Jon to purify the legendaries and defeat the entities

Jon's eyes look like Arceus's eyes

Jon and Martin team up with the professors on Alola to research the corrupted legendaries.

Both of them are a bit freaked out about pokemon, but they give Jon a rowlett

Because Jon is fused with Arceus he can understand pokemon.

Martin gets a Mimikyu that joins up with him after he repairs its cloak.

J: she's afraid that you'll die if you see her true form

M: does that really happen?!

J: well it is only a legend but they are quite frightening under their cloak

J: Here mimikyu you can hide under my coat while Martin fixes you up

Martin dresses up his mimikyu in little hats and bows

Jon actually has Arceus powers like end of game Legend Arceus battle style stuff

After they fix the legendaries in Alola they travel from region to region purifying them

Jon's Rowlet fully evolves

Alola > Galar > Kalos > Unova > Sinnoh > Hisui

Martin gets a Sinistea from Galar

J: for being done with the supernatural its pretty funny that we ended up with a bunch of ghost pokemon

M: they're literally a cup of tea, how could I say no

Jon gets a Espurr from Kalos

Martin gets an Eevee from Kalos that eventually evolves into a Sylveon

Jon gets a Munna from Unova and Martin gets an Axew

N asks Jon if he's a pokemon, Jon has a crisis

Jon calls the Subway a Tube to Emmets face

Jon gets a Snorunt Martin gets a Riolu

When they get to Sinnoh Corrupted Dialga sends Jon gets sent to post game Hisui

Jon's eyes freak out the locals and they band together to kick out Jon thinking he's a pokemon Akari's Arceus shields Jon and they chat. Jon meets Ingo and is like its the missing brother of the guy who laughed at me for calling his subway a tube

Akari's Arceus fuses with Jon, and the three of them go to present Sinnoh using Akari's Dialga

Jon gets a Beldum from Steven in Hoenn

Jon gets a Natu in Johto Martin gets a Mareep

Tmau Ingo definitely holds his newfound height over Emmet constantly. He's insufferable. "How's the weather down there little man?" "I am an inch and a half shorter than you." "Hm what's that? Your voice just has to travel so far to reach me, I can't hear you." "I can fix that."

I want to do a bunch of art for Pokémon Oculus aka my TMA Pokémon AU but I have art burnout and finals in two weeks so here have a writing snippet instead:

It is dark, and Martin is cold.

Thick icy fog billows at his feet, creeping into his lungs, fluttering from his lips every time he exhales.

Faintly, it occurs to him that he can’t remember the last time he felt warm.

The cold is all that he feels. The cold, and the sense that something is deeply, deeply wrong.

That feeling of wrongness only grows as the fog begins to rise, lapping at his legs. Something is missing. Martin knows it, deep within his chilled bones. He just can’t remember what it is.

In the distance, a voice calls for him. It’s so achingly familiar, and Martin feels his frozen heart begin to pound in his chest, glasslike shards of ice and fear stabbing at his lungs. The fog is at his neck now.

He opens his mouth to call out—

Only for the blaring of his alarm to yank him abruptly into consciousness.

Martin’s eyes fly open, and he immediately slams them shut again, groaning. He raises his hand to shield his eyes from the blade of blinding sunlight leaking through the gap in the hotel room curtains.

He flings his other arm out, groping for his phone. He grabs ahold of it and shuts off the alarm, rolling onto his back and sighing. Another nightmare, then. Nearly four years and they haven’t gotten any better. If Martin’s being completely honest with himself, they probably never will.

He notices he’s shivering.

Martin shuts his eyes again and lays there for the next several minutes, waiting for the tremors racking his body to subside. As soon as his breath no longer shudders when he exhales, he sits up, blinking his poor, jet-lagged eyes.

He checks the time on his phone. 7:41 AM. Just under two hours until his appointment with Professor Sycamore.

He drags himself out of bed and gets dressed, then makes his way to the bathroom to freshen up. Once he deems himself presentable, he begins gathering his things and pulls open the curtains, flooding the room with sunlight.

Galvantula makes a disgruntled noise from where she’s still asleep at the foot of the bed, blinking open her eyes.

“Morning, Galvantula,” Martin greets her. She yawns and stretches, clicking her chelicerae together sleepily. She chitters affectionately when Martin gives her a few pets on her fuzzy head.

“C’mon, let’s get going.” Martin chuckles, slinging his bag over his shoulder. “The others are probably already downstairs.”

Galvantula stretches one last time then scuttles off the bed, and the two of them make their way out of their hotel room and down to the lobby.

The story I have laid out in my head is :

Jon is on of Gertrudes assistances and she one day just looks at him and goes "You need friends, go on a pokemon journey" and he(reluctantly) goes. Then plot things™ happen but that would be spoilers bc for once in my life I'm going to write something for my aus!

Chairman Rose in the Tma au. He is a former victim of the Extinction turned Avatar for it. Even if he doesn't really realize that.

He had an experience with the Extinction when was younger. During it, he saw the future where the energy crisis he is so worried about in game happened, but much sooner and much worse than the scientists he had talked to said. What he saw was disastrous. A ruined Galar. The things he cared about gone.

So he vowed that he would save Galar. No matter what it took he would save his home from what he saw. Which is what led him to the stuff with Eternatus and the wishing stars.

Also Leon had an encounter with the Spiral when he was young which is why he is like that in this au.

And Leon may also become the Archivist post his Champion defeat. (Yes Jon is around but he's not going for Archivist again or by the time he actually gets to Galar when he gets back from reuniting with Martin in Unova, Leon had already been hired as Archivist. And the most he could do is be an Archival assistant or some other position in the institute.)

The reason why Leon applied for the job is because of a mixture of reasons. He had originally first gone to the institute to look for Rose's Statement, then he found out that he was related to the founder of the institute, one Professor Laventon, and then he also had a lot of free time after he was no longer champion. So he found out there was an opening for Archivist and since he had nothing better to do, he applied for the position.
