hmmmm i think i'd like to delve more into animal avatars. like yeah sure ooo predator/prey dynamics in the Hunt but like. what about sparrows and their relationship with death omens. and the way patterns of crows can make you feel so helpless to your own fate.

and dont get me STARTED on whales and the vast. did you know that for every discovered creature in the ocean, there is a larger creature that we havent yet found, lurking deeper and darker? we'll never know how big they get. no matter how hard we look. isn't that terrifying? it's not the water that scares you, is it?

and like. not to bring fungus into this but i really do have to: the fear animals have when encountering deceivers? they look almost identical to their favorite meals, and then end up filling them with poison. is that not the Stranger? are animals not as filled with diverse and complex fear as we are?

i think the 'cosmic horror' narrative that TMA tries really hard to push is like. much less interesting than the themes of interpersonal hurt and domestic issues that it is constantly fixated on. like it's struck me on my re-listen just how many statements are about the family at their core. and the horror coming from inside the house there is like. way chewier than the meta-narrative it tries to do about how Fear Controls Us All or something. imo. in my opinion.

#txt #i like TMA but i think the lore gets soooo pedantic after a certain point #im not nearly as interested in Sorting The Stories Into Little Categories as it wants me to be #just not as compelling as the sheer amount of statement givers who are like. waxing about their broken families as a key part of their Scar #and how much that extends to the uhh 'core wounds' of like every single main character #people being literally marked from childhood in a way that dooms them to be monsters for the rest of their life. etc etc etc.#tma tag #sorry just realized i should put all this in like. an easy-to-mute Blog Category lmfao.
