“Dude, relax,” Ned said as he and Peter walked to their next class, “I’m sure whatever you think of for Mr. Stark will be great.”
“But that’s just it, Ned,” Peter said. “I can’t think of anything, and his birthday is two weeks away.”
“Exactly,” Ned said, “it’s 2 weeks away. You’ve got plenty of time.”
“Not really,” Peter retorted. “I don’t have any idea as to what I’m giving him yet.”
Ned could only roll his eyes fondly at his best friend. “That’s okay,” he said. “I have no doubt Mr. Stark will like whatever you decide to give him.”
“Not if it’s something he can’t use or already has,” Peter said quickly. “This is the first time we’re spending a birthday together, and it has to be perfect.”

“You nervous?” Tony asked suddenly nudging him with his arm as he rested on his crutches jolting Peter out of his thoughts.
“A-A little,” Peter said with a slight blush, “but I’m trying not to be.”
“Kid, it’s okay if you are,” Tony urged gently. “It’s perfectly normal. Just take a deep breath and be yourself. You’re just answering questions on what happened with Hammer, and that’s it. It’ll be over before you know it.”
Peter nodded. “Okay,” he said.
“And we’ll be nearby in case you need any kind of support,” Tony added, “but I think it’ll be easy as pie.”

“Okay, buddy, we’re going to get you home,” Tony said as Happy ran ahead to get the keys to their car from the parking garage tooth.
“Yes,” May began, “and then you can get out of that suit and into your pajamas and more importantly into bed.” She then looked at Tony. “Tony, do you think you can give Helen a call? Maybe she can make a house call in case this is serious.”
“Absolutely, I’ll call once we’re in the car,” Tony replied, “and then we’ll watch any movie you want, kid. Hell, it could be a Disney movie for all I care.”
“O-Okay, Mr. Stark,” Peter replied weakly.
The four of them waited no longer as Happy finally drove the car over to them allowing them to get in. Tony and May sat in the back with Peter in the middle while Pepper sat up front with Happy. The forehead of security wasted no time in driving off toward Queens, and it didn’t take long for the other three adults to realize that…Happy was smiling as they drove through the streets of Manhattan. Before either of them could ask why…Peter sat up straight…with a smile of his own.
Peter took a deep breath and smiled. “Well, that was a success,” he simply said with the smile leaving his face.

“W-Watch me?” Tony reported.
“Oh yeah,” Hammer replied, “ever since November really, and I got to say, Tony, you really have changed.”
Tony felt his stomach drop. Hammer had hired men to watch him since November. That was around the time he and Peter started seeing each other and keeping in touch more frequently. They took a picture at Stark Industries, and they spent a weekend together while May was away. Could that mean he knew Peter was Spider-Man? “W-What do you mean ‘changed?’” he asked trying to keep his voice steady.
“Last time I saw you, you were drunk off your ass shooing away your best friends and your little lady,” Hammer replied, “but now,” he reached into his pocket and pulled out some pictures, “it seems like you’ve had a…” he looked at Peter, “lovely addition to your family.” He threw the pictures at Tony’s feet.

Then…the door opened, and from what Tony could see through the face mask…Hammer walked in first with his men holding their guns behind him. He exhaled shakily as Peter gripped onto Tony’s jacket tightly as he stood behind him.
“My good man, Stark, how are we—?” Hammer stopped as he walked in and saw…no sign of Peter and Tony in the room. The only thing he found was a large Iron Man suit in front of him. “NO! NO! NO!” he shouted. “WHERE ARE THEY?!”
Peter jumped a little at Hammer’s shouts while Tony tried to steady his breathing. The billionaire tried with all his might to stay calm for his intern.
“Sir, the door was locked,” one of the men said to him. “There’s no way for them to get out.”
“Well, somehow they did,” Hammer retorted, “so do the job you agreed to do and…GO FIND THEM!!”

“We’re investigating the kidnapping of Tony Stark and his intern Peter Parker,” Powell replied.
“Oh yes, I heard about that,” the receptionist said. “That’s awful. I mean, I don’t know how we could help you, but who would you like to speak to?”
“The ever-popular Justin Hammer,” Dodds replied with a smirk.
“Okay,” the receptionist said typing the name of the prisoner into the computer, “I’ll just need you both to sign in, and then I’ll give you some badges—” He stopped when he saw the computer screen once he pressed “Enter.” “That’s strange.”
Dodds and Powell furrowed their eyebrows together and looked at each other before looking back at the receptionist.
“What is it?” Powell asked suspiciously.
“This says that Justin Hammer…is not here anymore,” the receptionist replied.

“I’d say that it looks good,” Peter said with a smile. “Okay, so what’s next, Mr. Stark?”
“One word, kid,” Tony said as he loosened his necktie and took it off, “escape.”
Peter stared at Tony with widened eyes. “Really? Now?” he asked.
“Yes, now,” Tony said firmly, “I’m not putting you in my more danger. I refuse to meet any of Hammer’s demands, but with the threat on your life hanging over our heads, I don’t plan on sticking around here any longer than we need to.”
Peter felt himself exhale. “Okay,” he said, “what’s the plan?”

Peter breathed a sigh of relief. “I’ve got you, too, Mr. Stark,” he said. He then sighed again. “Look, don’t agree to what he wants, please. You can’t go that.”
“Kid…he threatened you,” Tony replied. “He threatened to kill you. I can’t take that chance.”
“So long as we’re together, you can protect me,” Peter said looking up at Tony. “We can protect each other.”
Tony sighed as he pulled Peter close to his chest holding him tightly. He was just about to answer…when…Peter suddenly shot up again and looked at him with fear in his eyes. “W-What is it, Pete?” he asked.
“I hear them coming,” Peter replied with widened eyes. “They’re coming back.”

“I know,” Pepper said chuckling. “Tony is the same with everyone he cares about…especially Peter.”
The brunette nodded in thought. “They really do have a great relationship,” she said, “like we said last night. I think it might be…deeper than we realize.”
“Honestly,” Pepper began, “I think they may not even realize it yet either. It just sort of…happened. It’s happening even now.”
May was just about to answer when…her phone rang again. “Hang on a sec, Pep,” May said talking the phone away from her ear. She looked at the screen, and sure enough, it was…Chief Harrison. “Can I call you back? It’s the Chief calling me. He probably wants to follow up.”

It didn’t take Peter long to decide what movie he wanted to watch with Tony, and of course, it ended up being a Star Wars movie. Tony smiled and relented once his intern made the selection. The billionaire gladly sat next to his intern as said intern pressed play on the remote.
“So…how have you been doing, kid?” Tony asked Peter after a moment as the movie began.
Peter furrowed his eyebrows together as he looked at Tony. He had a feeling as to what Tony was asking him, but he didn’t know precisely what he was referring to. “How’ve I been doing?” he repeated. “Doing with what?”
“You know…with…what happened last Thursday,” Tony asked raising his eyebrows.

I totally meant to post this early today!!
“Pete, buddy, answer me!”
Was that…who Peter thought it was? He almost didn’t want to grab it almost thinking that it was going to be in his head, but he was too curious and desperate. So, he grabbed the mask and put it on.
“M-Mr. Stark, i-is that you?” he asked sniffling.
He swore he could hear a sigh of relief. “Yeah, kid, it’s me,” Tony replied.
“Oh my god,” Peter said shakily, “I-I can’t believe it! M-Mr. Stark…Mr. Stark, I-I need your help! I-I’m stuck, and…and I can’t move!”
“W-What do you mean you’re stuck and can’t move?” Tony asked clearly trying to remain calm for Peter’s sake. “What happened?”

“Of course, buddy,” Tony replied, “you can ask me anything.”
“Uhh…well…” Peter began only to stop when he suddenly sat up straight and looked around with widened eyes. For some reason, he felt a familiar tingling sensation go up his spine, and it sounded like he could hear yelling outside the ballroom.
Tony noticed this and furrowed his eyebrows together looking around the room and back at Peter. “W-What’s wrong, kid?” he asked. “Are you okay? Is it another panic attack?”
“N-No…no…it’s not a panic attack,” Peter replied still looking around. “I just…I-I have a weird feeling.”
“What kind of weird feeling?” Tony asked.
Peter was just about to answer…when…the doors burst open.

“Hey…kid,” Tony said as he watched Peter put his backpack down and grabbing some tools to begin working on the nanotech project. “Uh…how was school today?”
“Oh, fine,” Peter said nodding his head stiffly, “it was good, fine.”
Tony squinted in suspicion trying to find any indication that Peter was lying or at least hiding something. It didn’t take him long to see that Peter was in fact hiding something. He was barely looking at him, and there was still no word vomit. “Are you sure?” he asked gently.
“Y-Yeah, w-why do you ask?” Peter asked finally looking up at his mentor.
“Because you…you’re not doing your usual…Midtown update,” Tony said gently, “and you look like you’re about to implode. Did…did something happen?”

“I…think Peter is almost ready,” May said eying Peter’s closed bedroom door, “but he…hasn’t emerged yet. I’m going to go check on him.” She was just about to walk toward his room when…the door opened.
“No need, May,” Peter said quickly as he leaned on the doorframe, “I’m ready. Oh, hey, Mr. Stark, I didn’t hear you come in. What’s up?”
“Oh, you know, I’m about to take my intern to a gala event,” Tony answered with the same casual tone. “Nothing too much.” He then eyed Peter’s tie and noticed how lopsided and disheveled it looked. “Uhh…you…you need help with anything…maybe with that tie around your neck?”
Peter cringed and groaned. “I knew it didn’t look right,” he said. “Those tutorials just don’t do it for me. I can make web fluid, but I can’t tie a tie.”
“Okay, honey, it’s okay,” May said taking a step toward Peter, “let’s just—”
“I can help you,” Tony suddenly said aloud making May stop in her tracks and both her and Peter look at Tony with widened eyes.

“Hey, Mr. Stark!” the teen said happily.
“Hey, kid!” Tony said looking up at his intern with a huge smile on his face. “How was the drive over?”
“It was great!” Peter replied as he placed his backpack next to him on the floor. “I’m so excited to work with you, Mr. Stark. You have no idea!”
Tony actually did. The whole morning, he was buzzing with excitement over the fact that he and Peter would be able to work together every week. “Well, I’m excited too, kid,” the billionaire said with a smile. “It’s great to have you here. However, there are going to be…some ground rules.”
“Like what?” Peter asked suspiciously.
