HAPPY 3 YEARS TO THIS BLOG!! 🎉💕🫶

i’m so happy i’ve been a part of this little community for as long as i have. everyone is super nice and inspiring and unbelievably talented, and im so glad to be posting content with people like y’all.

it’s absurd to think i’ve been doing this for 3 years and that i almost have 800 people here seeing it, but the love and support i’ve received over these years has been incredible. given that this is such a small community and i’ve either spoken with most of you or have at the very least interacted with your content, i feel confident in saying that every single person here is incredible in their own right and truly are the reason i stay here. you guys are genuinely the best, even if i forget to answer your asks or sometimes leave you on read for a while (i do that with everyone i’m so sorry) i mean it when i say that i do consider a good portion of you my friends. even if it’s been a while since we messaged or talked, you’re all awesome. and if i don’t know you personally, please feel free to message me! i love making friends, especially in a community like this that has time and time again proven to have some of the genuinely nicest people on the internet <3

i love writing and drawing and i’m not leaving here for a long while yet. the asks i’ve received saying that i inspired people to write, draw, or post are some of the nicest things i’ve ever received, and i truly mean it from the bottom of my heart when i say that those have changed my life. the self confidence and love for my craft that i’ve gained from being here is immeasurable, and that’s thanks to all of you, whether you’ve been here for years or are new to this blog.

given that this is an anniversary thing, i wanna thank @bittydragon, @baka-monarch, @wendy130, @darkeninganon, and @awesome-slime-lover for introducing me to this community. i was stalking their blogs on google far before i had an account here, and i only made an account so i could send them fanart, so you have them to thank for dragging me here lmao

Sooooo my boy (Right, on the left lol) is not DND but ! I have the AU for him and he's a cleric. Then Kinkaide (on the right) for @disappearingreappearingink is indeed DND. A paladin/warlock. They're both very hurt people who want to help and will do what it takes to help. They are SO similar but also wildly different. Kinkaide is much more optimistic and pleasant (sunshine angel who can do no wrong!) while Right is pessimistic and blunt and foul-mouthed.

Anyway Kinkaide has had it ROUGH for most of the campaign but esp the last two sessions so. Here's a gift for her getting told "hey that's fucked up" by my OC.

(I asked for permission to draw them together and was watched the entire time so it's accurate enough despite not being canon.)

Summer Camp AUs :3

Mountain Ridge Camp for Boys by timetogoslumming

This is a really good summer camp AU of newsies! I love how it combines canon plot with a modern AU!

Summary: David was just looking for a summer job when he applied to work at Mountain Ridge Camp for Boys. He had no idea how much would change. For the first time in his life, David is part of a brotherhood, but not everyone is on the same side.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation by studentnumber24601 (Itsy Royal)

Javid & Specs/Dutchy (Sputchy?? Idk, but I <3 this ship) & Blink x OC, T, 40/40

The prank war in this is honestly the best + the reluctant ladies man Mush is LOL, it had me guessing the ships till the very end, especially with Blink.

Summary: Modern-day newsboys at summer camp. Will wacky hijinks ensue? Gee, ya think?

Make Off Like a Band(it) by thespiritscalling

OMG. It's the funniest summer camp au I've read that sheds light on band camp (I'm an orchestra kid so this was hilarious to me). I especially love the That's Amore remix near the end lmaoo

Summary: It's the summer after graduation. Race is ready to hit the road- metaphorically, of course- but before that happens, it's time for one last stint at the Camp To End All Camps: band camp. Armed with nothing more than a French horn, two best friends, and reckless abandon, Race decides it's going to be the best final year of camp anyone's ever had. It'll be full of excitement, laughter, music, and an absurd crush on the lead trumpet player. Wait. What?

You're gonna need the tissues for this one. I literally sob every time I read it, it's literally one of the best fics I've ever read. It's poetically tragic and heartbreaking and beautiful and HOLY CRAP!

Summary: Katherine Plumber, 17, had been so sure that she could stay the same, that she could stop the world, that she'd stay young forever. The world kept moving, though, no matter how hard she tried to stop it, and it forced her to move with it.

When Manhattan Met Brooklyn by warrior_sif

No ships cause they're kids, T, 4/4 (but the second one isn't finished :( )

Wow. Just wow. This one is honestly sad and I love the brother relationship between Jack, Race, and Spot and how Jack feels abandoned, like Race chose Spot over him. READ IT.

Summary: The only Manhattan newsies that Spot Conlon deals with are Jack and Race. A look back at how they met, eight years before the strike, when neither Jack nor Spot were leaders and Race just wants to sell at the racetracks.

False Rumors and The Truth Behind Them by FrogmanFae

Sprace, M, One Shot

This one is...heavy. The Refuge is such a bad place :( I love it though, the writing is beautiful.

Summary: Rumor has it that Spot Conlon and Racetrack Higgins met when Race started selling in Brooklyn because of his love for gambling. That isn't as true as the other boys in their lodging houses tend to make it seem. Though, they don't necessarily mind the false rumors. They hide the much darker truth. The truth that still causes Race to make the walk from Manhattan to Brooklyn in the middle of the night sometimes, even several years later. Or...It's pretty easy to form connections with someone you're forced into sharing a bed with while you're both being tortured.

The King & The Cowboy by goldenbiebah

Sparah <3, Spot/Sarah/Jack love triangle, T, 11/? (not completed :sob: )

I love this one, it really touches on how Jack is kinda toxic and how Sarah can have someone wayyyy better *cough* Spot *cough*

Summary: Spot Conlon and Jack Kelly are the fearless leaders of all the newsies in Brooklyn and Manhattan. They have a perfect system and hundreds of boys who respect and look up to them. But what will happen when the two leaders let selfishness and pride break up their friendship? And what happens when Spot's dark past begins to catch up with him? And where does Sarah Jacobs fit into all of this? Find out in The King & The Cowboy. Fights will break out, romances will clash, and lives will be lost in an epic struggle to salvage both new and old relationships.

We Are Newsies by VeronicaWeasley (this is my sole ff.net one but likeeee it's too good to be ignored)

There are so many ships that I can't remember but I do know Sprace is one, T, 80/80 (I know that's a lot but it is SO worth it holy frick)

Ok. So. This one is like SO good. It's my fav high school AU because it has a really genius way of incorporating the canon plot with the perfect amount of angst, fluff, and more! :D

Summary: The same old story, the same old song. A tale in which the newsies of Lower Manhattan go on strike, and David Jacobs gets roped into it. High School AU set in 1999. Told through the eyes of multiple characters.

Captivity by Hexmari

I LOVEEE this one it's so crazy and you're in for a wild ride when (it's so cute that you think I'm letting that be an if :) ) you read it.

Summary:

“Ma– you seriously can’t do this to us!” Jack argued, “I mean it's Halloween!”

Charlie was quick to back his older brother up, “Yeah, do you want us to become hermits? Because that's what keeping us captive here all night will do!”

This one is soooo worth staying up late for, it's amazing in every way and my heart aches for Spottie boy. And Race. And Jack. And David. But mainly Spot :)

Summary:

ajlskdfjalkjdkajl this one is so sweet. The concept of it is super interesting and I just LOVE ittttttt.

Summary: In 1899, Spot Conlon is the leader of the Brooklyn newsies, writing away his thoughts and hiding them inside his desk for safekeeping. Meanwhile, in 1999, Tony Higgins receives an antique desk for his birthday and finds an old letter stuffed in one of the slots, the name, Spot, his only lead in this mystery. What becomes of that summer is a series of time-traveling letters, falling in love, and the realization that Spot and Tony know each other better than the two ever could have imagined.

I finished reading this last night and got literal chills. The plot twist is wild and I love it so much, but you might need the tissues again! Can't spoil, but you NEEEEEEEEEEEEED to read it >:( It is the absolute best piece of reading on the Earth and I can't get over this. It's just...wild.

Summary: A lot can happen in five years. Don't believe me? Ask David. Ask Spot. Ask Jack, or Racetrack. You can even ask Oscar Delancey. They know. They're the five who've been waiting for this moment. Waiting for what? They'll never tell - but this story will.

I'm honestly so proud of this one, it's one of the best pieces of writing I have ever done...

He loves to be LOUD. He loves to ABUSE EXPLOITS... but Most Importantly........ HE LOVES TO BE SILLY!! he has a quota of mischief he has to fill. no matter what. even if he dies. . 👍💥

Spoke is both a [youtuber] and a [twitch streamer]! and He does a bit amount of both! He is more free spirited when it comes to what content he makes and kinda goes with the flow but is always working to improve and experiment! (especially lately, not all of his videos are smp related!!)

Recently, he took a few months break from streaming recently but has been nearly daily since his return! (although he has gone back to his 2019-2020 skyblock hypixel days, so if you are looking for a lifesteal stream, probably not going to happen anytime soon as of writing this... just become a skyblock viewer ^_^)

Most of his Twitch streams are around 2.5 hours long and is typically more chill than his videos and he kindaa just does what he wants. which is grinding and performing his bits -> that scares and kills him! (the carefree bucket clutches......) and his YouTube videos being around 13 minutes long and longer ones being around 30 mins to even way over an hour! His older videos take a slower pace while his newer ones are far more snappy and fast pace, but they both have an equal amount of charm to them and are enjoyable to watch!

Spoke already has a ["Best of" Playlist] which I overall agree with! all the videos here are wonderful places to start watching him but i suggest watching the video where he traps people using maps on Lifesteal SMP. I feel it gives a good show of both his personality and his Lifesteal content in general without overwhelming you like his 1,000 withers on the Lifesteal SMP video, WHICH is absolutely a must watch for any Lifesteal viewer as it gives a very dramatic and well-rounded POV to the end of Season 2 and is arguably his best video still to date. Oh, and here is his [entire lifesteal playlist]

ACTUALLY lets talk about Spoke on Lifesteal SMP.. while he acts silly he abuses nearly any exploit he can (s3 cleansing harming arrows, putting on a netherite chestplate for no real reason in s3, helping dupe items in s4) and breaks nearly ANY rule!! that exists in order to fill his need for mischief and destruction (greifing spawn and breaking rules to hell and back. nearly every season. especially s2)

. did i mention destruction. this guy is known for causing the end of the server. for nearly every season. Spawning 1000 withers kinda does a lot to a server... so does destroying every elytra in the end in order to cut the supply of craftable hearts while killing everyone and destroying hearts . to ban everyone of the server.. Did i also mention this guy is a cheat and a lair. anytime he thinks he can get away with it and it benefits him. WHILE, saying this I must mention. he does not do this for Power. he does it for his Ideals. what he believes should happen and what he believes is "right" and how things exist. that the server ending and conflict keeps it alive in the end.

and while he is loyal to his allies. he is more loyal to his own motivations and what is happening in the moment. he is a known wild card and no one really trusts him because of this. but hes always an important asset to any team as both good pvper and his . enthusiastic! willingness to abuse exploits and trick others. Don’t worry too much about this. Most of the time he is there to just hang out :)

i re-discovered an old @flashfictionfridayofficial prompt draft in my folder. it was almost finished, so i have no idea why it’s taken me this long to post it, but <3 here we are

side effects

Curses have side effects. Briar Rose knows this all too well.

When Briar sees the spindle, something like relief fills her chest.

She’s never seen one before—her father outlawed them not long after her birth. But she recognizes it… just as she recognizes it isn’t meant to be here.

She draws closer anyway.

She hasn’t been at the castle very long. The fairies brought her here only recently; in celebration of her eighteenth birthday. Nearly eighteen years without falling victim to the curse. They all thought it was a miracle—and that meant it was time, at long last, to meet her parents.

She knew them, a bit. They traded letters back and forth. Once or twice they had stopped in at the cottage. But they were distant figures. She never knew them as well as she would like. Getting to visit, finally, has been a treat.

She’s almost sorry it’s being cut short.

Briar kneels by the spindle. The room is clearly abandoned. Thick white sheets cover the furniture—what little of it there is. The hearth is cold. A slight draft comes in through the window; a hole somewhere left unfilled, with no one here to notice it. A thick layer of dust covers the room—she has to breath carefully, so as not to sneeze.

But the spindle sits, almost new, glossy and shining in the moonlight.

She runs the tip of her finger, lightly, over the glossy wood.

“Come for me at last, haven’t you?” she murmurs to the empty room.

The curse placed upon her as a babe has haunted her her entire life—even before she knew it for what it was. She’s spent a hundred, a thousand sleepless nights; tossing and turning, counting sheep forward and back, staring at the ceiling until her mind was numb with boredom and her body ached. Sleep only ever comes to her in fleeting, brief moments. Never more than a handful of hours—and that’s if she’s lucky.

The fairies never understood.

Learning about the curse was like the clouds breaking on a rainy day. A hundred years of sleep awaited her; a fate etched into her bones, known to her body if not her mind. Of course sleep eluded her now.

It didn’t make the fatigue any less, or any easier to push through… but knowing the cause was like a weight lifted from her.

Briar stands. Now, a spindle has appeared before her, on the night before her eighteenth birthday.

And the thing is… Briar could ignore it. She could turn around and walk away, pretend as if she hadn’t seen it.

But.

She doesn’t want to.

She has never known a life without exhaustion; never known what it was like to really, truly, rest. But she wants to. Oh, she wants to. Will it be as freeing as she imagines? As she dreams?

There is, in the end, only one way to find out.

And perhaps it’s selfish. Perhaps it is even cruel. Perhaps she will wake up, a hundred years from now, and guilt will sit in her stomach like rocks.

Now, in this moment… Briar doesn’t care.

She pricks her finger on the spindle.
