WandaVision Episode 1 Reaction

Spoilers below!!

I enjoy the music over the marvel logo

But also a 43 second logo feels kinda long for a 29 minute episode- is it just for the premier or is this gonna happen before each ep?

Also I’m pretty sure I’ve heard that there is a title sequence, which will probably be similar in length. Combine that with the lengthy credits people have been complaining about, it seems that the percentage of the thirty minutes that is actually the story is lower than it should be

not that I don’t love a good title sequence! But I’ll take a well fleshed out episode over fancy logos, title sequences and credits any day

now that I’ve got that of my chest, on to the actual show

I like how they have the frame shaped like that of an old timey tv, combined with the black and white it really adds to the old timey sit come vibe

I like these bells

Ok I know I complained about to much time being wasted with logos and such, but i LOVE how cheesy this theme song is and I love them showing vision and Wanda driving tp there house in wedding attire

“A regular husband and wife” 2 seconds late *vision disappears into a cloud of sparkles*.... 1 minute 8 seconds in and I love this

Even there acting is reminiscent of an old timey sit com this is amazing

feel like I should note he title sequence ends at the 1.36 mark approximately, which may not seem like a lot but again the show is less than thirty minutes so it adds up

Wanda talks with a fifties accent: I already love this show

Also I wish I had magic I could use to clean, I’m moving back into my dorm right now and Wanda’s powers would be SO helpful

Also I LOVE the laugh track

Also Wanda’s short curly hair is so cute

I love how neither of them knows what the heart means so they play it off by being like “yeah of course I know what it means, how could I forget? Do YOU remember what it means

Also Vision is literally part computer shouldn’t he have a photographic memory?

Also how old is Wanda? I could have sworn someone said she was 19 in civil war, which would make her like 21 here? I think?? Idk tho, as a 19 year old I don’t think she has ever looked 19 in the movies, even back in Ultron she looked at least in her mid twenties

The face Vision makes when he makes himself human is so funny

Also Vision blowing Wanda a kiss and her reaching back to grab it is the perfect amount of corny that makes it still cute

Also I wonder what vision’s job is

I can already tell Agnes is going to be some great comic relief in a show that’s already hilarious

“I assure you, I’m married. To a man. A HUMAN one!” I know I’ve said before that I was never the biggest fan of Wanda or Vision but I love Wanda in this show

Obv there is something clearly off here, but I feel like I need to mention that it’s clear this is some warped reality. If I had never seen any of the MCU before, I may believe it was just witch and her robot husband living in the fifties, but the little details really make it clear to the audience (the majority of whom I am sure are familiar with the mcu) that something is off. This scene is one of those, where Wanda cannot seem to recall how long her and Vision have been together and plays it off by saying “It feels like we always have been together”

Is Agnes giving Wanda advice for the bedroom? is this really what I’m watching? Or have I wildly misinterpreted this?

Love that vision doesn’t even know what they do at his job, I know it’s part of the false reality thing but also lowkey relatable

I started this like twenty minutes ago and have only gotten 7 minutes in because I keep stopping to type my reactions. I am going to try to shut up and watch, and stop screaming about every little detail for a bit 😂

They make the best facial expressions

This phone conversation where Wanda think they’re having a date night whereas Vision is talking about his boss coming for dinner is comedy GOLD

also I love the fact that they’re giving us stereotypical sitcom drama while keeping it clear that there are bigger problems than dinner with the boss

Fake commercial break is at 9.56 (these time stamps are for myself I want to calculate how much of the episode is actually the story)

I do love the fake commercials tho! And I suppose in a way they ARE part of the show

They missed the chance to make it the toastmate three thousand and make every ironman fan cry

The beeping toaster sounds like a ticking bomb..... also the little red light is the only color we’ve seen this episode I think

Also love that it was an SI toaster, still wish they had made it 3000 instead of 2000

How did Wanda confuse Mr. Hart with her husband? Not that I’m complaining, her coming out in a robe and covering Vis’ Boss’ eyes is HILARIOUS

Poor Vision is trying to figure out what kind of company he works for this is sooo funny

Agnes coming in clutch with a full meal

So Wanda needs the ingredients in order to magic a meal she can’t just make one appear

Vision breaking into song was amazing

How did one chicken turn into like 30 eggs

Vision is singing old McDonald with his bosses wife this is great

“Diane!” “That must be my wife summoning me!” “She calls you Diane?” “Yes... it’s her pet name for me” “I’m coming... Fred”

So many clichés in this show but it’s done in such a purposeful way that it’s still funny

Also we have only seen three rooms: the kitchen, the living room and Vision’s workplace

“Well I think tonight’s going SWIMMINGLY”

Mrs. Hart is SO NOSY

But I love that they don’t know the answers

Wanda looks SO disturbed when Mr. Hart is demanding her and visions story, you can tell her mind is fighting itself and it’s so sad

Mr. Hart is choking, is it bad that I think he deserves it?

Mrs. Hart keeps cheerily repeating stop it, and gone is the stereotypical sitcom camera angles and and the backing music is switched for something eery

This is lowkey scary, Mr. Hart Dying while his wife keeps cheerily saying Stop It and it just feels creepier the more she repeats

Wanda looks distressed and vision is just looking to her for what to do, her old timey accent is gone and she sounds nearly robotic as she tells Vision to help

Poor Wanda, she is so clearly going through it mentally right now

Laugh track is back, and just like that the Harts are leaving, despite only having one bite of food

And somehow Mr. Hart is impressed? Was Wanda rewriting reality to make them so?

I know that this is clearly some alternate reality and nothing is right, but wanda and vision deciding to choose that day as there anniversary and this little convo here is soooooo cute

Aw her making them rings and them both saying I do is soooo cute

And vision saying “and they lived happily ever after’ is so sweet but also so sad in context

What is that little remote vision is holding meant to be?

And love the hexagon closing in on them with the cute music playing to end the episode

Are the people in these credits real? Because it lists the start as Wanda Maximoff and Vision but are the rest actual people?

So there is some sketchy dude watching the maybe fake credits so there's something going on there

The actual credits start with 7.13 left and I’ve been told there's no mid or post credits scene. I’ll let them play while I finish this up anyways

8 minutes and 49 seconds of this show is the logo, title sequence and credits. Out of 29.36 total this means only 20 minutes and 47 seconds is the show, which I suppose is standard for a sitcom but I think I felt deceived by it showing as 29 minutes

Also 50 seconds of “commercial takes the show time down to 19.57 if anyone was wondering

I swear tho I’m not all that bothered by the length, just did the math in case anyone was curious like I am.

I thought I was going to really enjoy this going it, but it still really surpassed my expectations and I can’t wait for episode 2!

This is my raw reactions, but I’m sure that as I mull it over more I’ll be posting more about the show

This is somehow a perfect combo of lighthearted comedy and mild horror

I wanna let this episode stew for a while, so I prob won’t watch episode 2 for at least a day

Let’s talk that 5 year time jump in Endgame –– with MATH!

*cracks knuckles* Let’s talk about that 5 year time jump, ya’ll. Get ready for some math. Not ready? Well get fucking ready, because here we go!

(fair warning: my math rounds up a lot and it’s not perfect. Feel free to discuss with your own additions/corrections)

In Avengers: Endgame, the snap –– officially referred to The Decimation –– killed half of living things. This includes not only people, but animals and plant life as well. Going forward, we’re going to focus on people.

Earth currently has 7.7 billion people. The Decimation took half of that population, cutting things down to 3.8 billion.

But wait! We know for a fact that people died as a result of The Decimation. We saw crashing airplanes at the end credit scene of Infinity War. So, we’re going to subtract a generous half-a-billion (500 million) from that number. It’s a lot, yes, but keep in mind that we’re talking about the entire Earth, all countries included. This number can also factor in deaths that occurred not immediately after The Decimation such as the airplane crashes, but shortly after. Ie; hospitals being understaffed and not able to properly care for their patients, babies who passed on because their parents were dusted and they died due to starvation, suicides due to the shock of losing your loved ones, ect.

So we went from 7.7 billion on Earth to 3.3 billion.

5 years go by. People procreate, we see that from Tony Stark and Pepper Potts –– their daughter, Morgan Stark, was basically used to tell the audience that there were other newborns in the world to consider. Let’s do the math there.

There are 131 million births per year. Of course, this is calculating births that occur with our current population. We gotta cut that in half, thanks to Thanos. After all, as of 2018 in the MCU, there are only 3.3 billion people on earth.

131 million / 2 = 65.5 million.

But, ya know...let’s be honest. Not everyone is bumping each other’s fancy parts to have a kid after all this tragedy. Not after losing little Billy Bob or sweet old Grandma to a traumatic, supernatural dusting. I’m deducting, and I’ll be fair not to slash things by another half, but rather a fraction of a half.

That brings us to 43.6 million. Per year, of course. In 5 years, we’ve gotten 218 million babies. That’s not even 2 years of what we’d normally have (131 million x 2 = 262 million. That’s what we currently average. An average 5 years for us would be 655 million babies. In 5 MCU years, we’ve only reached 218 million.)

Now we gotta calculate deaths.

This one gets tricky, because we’re already factoring in a 500 million deaths due to circumstance. The current number of calculated deaths per year is 55.3 million. Of course, this comes from a world of 7.7 billion population, and we’ve lost more than half of that. We’ve already factored in circumstantial deaths, and there are now less elderly to pass on from old age, though of course accidents such as car crashes, drownings, ect will be inevitable. We’ll fairly divide 55.3 million in half due to Thanos, plus another fraction to account for those car crashes, drownings, ect.

55.3 / 2 = 27.6 / 1.5 = 18.4 million. Per year. In 5 years, the MCU has lost 92 million people due to death of natural causes or inevitable accidents.

As of 2023, there’s a new population of 3.426 billion people on Earth. We got this number from taking our 2018 calculation of 3.3 billion and adding our birthrate of 218 million while subtracting our death rate of 92 million. That’s 3.3 billion + 218 million = 3.518 billion - 92 million = 3.426 billion.

In 5 years, the MCU Earth has only gained a total of 1.26 million addition of people to their population. They lost 3.8 billion because of Thanos. We’re not getting back to how things were very quickly, are we?

(On average, in our everything-is-fine-with-no-Thanos world, we average roughly 76 million to our population every year. This is because we have a birthrate of 131 million and a death rate of 55 billion (131 - 55 = 76) In the course of 5 years, we manage to increase our population by 3.8 million, calculating off a very numeric position and not factoring in acts of terrorism that would increase the death rate.)

On Earth in the year 2023, Professor Hulk snaps and brings back the lost population of 3.8 billion. The Earth now currently holds 218 million additional people to that number, which in the grand scheme of things isn’t a whole lot. I mean, it’s a LOT of new kids, that’s for hella sure. We’re talking about 1 1/2 years worth of baby-making all done at once, though of course some of these babies are now 4-5 years old. The schools will certainly be over-flooded.

But, in this fictional scenario with my fictional math, we still lost 500 million DUE to the snap. We calculated 500 million based off 2 major factors –– car accidents and plane crashes.

Based off Google estimates, there are 1.2 billion people driving in the world, and we’ll divide that in half to assume at the time of The Decimation 600 million people were on the roads, and half of them caused fatal car accidents, bringing us to 300 million. Factor in the amount of planes in the sky at any given time - 9,728 was the record high, and with roughly 500 people in a plane you’re looking at 400 million people all at once in the skies. Again, divide that in half for the amount of lives lost due to plane crashes. You’ve got 500 million.

This math can get sketchy because we’re not deducting those who were actually dusted in those cars/planes, but the numbers can weigh over to include those who were on the streets when the plane crashed, those who took their lives because their loved one was snapped, the babies who died from starvation, ect and so forth. The plane and car crashes are simply my base foundation for the 500 million. Lives were lost in many other ways.

*deep breath* Still with me? No? Scrolled all the way to the end to see my tl;dr? Fine, here it is.

The Avengers ignored the consequences of The Decimation. The MCU Earth lost 500 million lives that weren’t dusted, they were actually killed, and they weren’t brought back when Professor Hulk snapped his fingers. Even with 218 million new people on the earth, there’s still a loss of 282 million. While Tiffany is happy to see her little Susie return from being dusted, John is devastated that his son Teddy isn’t returning because he died a brutal death after everyone was dusted.

COUNTER ARGUMENT!

Before Professor Hulk snapped, Tony told him “Bring back those we lost. Don’t change anything else.” Bring back those we lost...mhmm...well, Tony and Professor Hulk are very smart men. Maybe Professor Hulk had the power to return those killed DUE to the Decimation? We weren’t given much information on how these stones work; it seems it goes off what you’re thinking at the time you snap, and that’s an assumption not something provided through narrative.

So at best, Professor Hulk returns 3.8 billion people to Earth. An Earth that currently has an additional 282 million kids. That’s like if 1 1/2 years worth of procreation happened all at once, though some of these babies are now 4-5 years old. This is the best case scenario, of course. And again, one we’re not provided through narrative. We have no clue if those killed due to The Decimation ever returned.

Final note: This doesn’t include other worlds. We know from Thor, The Guardians, and Carol Danvers that other planets exist, with other population rates. If those who died due to The Decimation were never returned, who the hell knows what kind of death rate occurred on Sakaar or Hala. If those killed due to The Decimation were never returned, the rate is easily high above 500 million. We could be looking at billions, still dead.

Conclusion:

Not reversing time was a bad idea. Morgan Stark and 218 million new children were not worth choosing over those who died permanently. That includes most of Asgard, the planet of Xander, and Nidavellir, who all suffered death when Thanos was collecting the stones.

The Avengers needed to reverse time to 2018 and stop Thanos from ever collecting the stones. I think my math sorta shows why. It’s a crapshot, yes, but even if a fraction of it adds up, it proves my point.

Some ideas Revolving around the Fandoms I wish to write with: Kingdom Hearts: Now this can go many, many ways! I have played every game in the series, including the mobile App game, Union Cross. That said, my favorite must be, 358/2 Days. (Just so you have a feel of my type of KH fan I am.) Could dive into a certain time frame from the serious, or, not. AU’s also welcomed to be discussed! For the sake of keeping spoilers out of public eye, I will say, there are things in Kingdom Hearts 3, that I would personally like to re-write in a Roleplay. But I will not dive into said things here. Also, open, to writing in the time frame, when the Organization, the original Organization were still Some-bodies, under the study of Ansem the Wise. Dive into the rather sketchy experiments and studies they performed.

Recently thought of something, sort of like an AU, based off the same idea of Final Fantasy X-2. Basically, some adventure /spin-off with the girls of the series. Could be its own AU, or what not. But, Aqua, Kairi, Namine, Xion all working together sounds fun! Not sure where we could take it, but very open to this!

Also open to playing with any of the Trio's, even one that's not highlighted a lot- (Young Xehanort, Yen Sid, and Eraqus.) A lot is open for this Fandom.

Might be open to OC Keybladers, in Union Cross type story, ending with the Keyblade War. That is one aspect of that game, I do like.

Dragon Ball:

For this Fandom, I wish to stay within Universe 6, Champa's Universe. Mainly focusing on the Saiyans of said Universe, Kale and Caulifla, and Cabba. I really want these three to be the main protagonist! After watching Super Heroes, I like to adapt some of that, and the GT Tuffle Arc in the Sixth Universe. The Tuffles rebelling against the Saiyans, perhaps them targeting Kale, since her Legendary like form. OC's, as villains and antagonists are welcomed here, but the focus being on the Saiyans.

Persona 5: This is also very open! Part of likes the idea, of going through the story, with an all-female version of the Phantom Thieves. Also like the idea, taking inspiration from the Anthology Manga, with side stories and events. Perhaps we find a way to Cross Kingdom Hearts over with the Thieves. Sora, Donald and Goofy, working alongside the Phantom Thieves of Heart, could be fun! Maybe something with the P5 Royal Girl, from the trailer. Something redeeming Akechi, or even the story from his perspective. Maybe we can dive into our favorite ship and write an AU around them. (Mine is MakoAnn~!)

Pokémon: In reality, this deals with Pokémon Colosseum specifically, but not against any of the other games. (Though, the idea of mixing other Protags into the Colosseum realm is welcome too!) Growing up, this was one of my favorite games. Though, even then I noticed how quiet it was. In a way, I wish to re-write in, but giving character arcs/growth to main villains and Wes himself. Let's have Wes have done some pretty horrible things, while working for Team Snag'Em, hinting at why he decides to betray them. People around the world, recognizing Wes, from his time as a bad person. Adding a sense of a redemption story for him, in his quest to stop them. Team Snag'Em, themselves perhaps could be working in the Shadow Pokémon business, selling to other Crime groups, maybe other organizations from the other games. Power Rangers!: So, who doesn't like colorful spandex, and explosions! Of course, I did say I want to dive into the 2017 Movie universe, and this is still true! Ideally, continuing where it left off. Adding in, a new Green Ranger (ideally, a female Tommi Oliver) Though, my idea is to have her, slightly corrupted by the Power Coin Rita once held. (Stealing from the MMPR arc, Evil with Green) the coin could slowly corrupt her mind, in a way making her a second Rita, and the Rangers having to deal with a way to free her. If we go the BOOM STUDIO Comic-Verse, I'd like to play around with the Broken Grid, type arc, after Lord Drakkon tried to rule over all. Form a team of our favorite Rangers, and have them stuck in many places, dealing with monsters out of time. Have this team, unstuck in time, as they try to fix the Grid, one way or another.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: I’ll be honest, I skimmed through most of Part-4; it didn’t really capture me that much. My favorite parts (of the anime, and in order) must go: Part-2, Part-3, Part-1, Part-5, and Part-4. Recently started watching Part-5, and its doing a lot better for me, than Diamond is Unbreakable. I will also add, I enjoy Hamon, a little more than Stands. I know Hamon is all but forgotten now, but still, Joseph made me love it.

Though, I am not sure what I would do with this Fandom, just that it could be fun to write in! Perhaps OC’s, rather than Canon characters; though, I could try Canon characters. But we could take this many direction, really. Just a bit more discussing for this one.

The Arrow-Verse: For this, I have written a time-line, of sorts, for a Darker Future; since, all the shows seem to point in this direction. However, with the current season of Arrow having Flash-forwards to a dark future, I might have to re-work my Time line. But, ideally, I wish to have the focus on Nora West-Allen/Xs. and John Diggle Jr/Connor Hawke. Dealing both with the loss of their father figures, and trying to work in a world, that has almost gone completely to crap. Since Arrow has introduced new characters like Mia, and William, we can have them join the group as well. Kind of, like a new Generation of the Trio (The trio being Ollie, Barry and Kara). Open to introducing a character from Super-Girl's blood line. I don't want this to focus on one show's characters too much, hence why I suggest Nora and John Diggle Jr be the leads; the arrow and Flash reps. A super-girl character could be fun too! Have arcing plots, maybe Nora looking for what happened to the Flash, but trying to locate Oliver Queen (since he was close to Barry) only to discover a ruined Star City and a New Green Arrow hopelessly holding on.

Sword Art Online: I don't have too much on this, just that I would like to have Suguha as a main character. Perhaps an AU, where she was trapped in a game, instead of her cousin. Or, her in some other sorts of games. OC's are welcomed in this as well. A few other things, that would be discussed, but also open to write within! High School of the Dead| Prison School| The MCU| Legend Of Zelda| Battlefront II; Inferno Squad|
