"to err is human to forgive is divine and to be a little hater is my goddamn civic right" grabbed me by the throat and shook me like a dog thank u for that
thanks! i plagiarized that first part from alexander pope but it's okay because he plagiarized it from the romans who plagiarized it from the greeks.

While writing a fic, I’ve been thinking about the horrors of Yue Qingyuan in the Lingxi Caves and how it’s sort of incredible that he seemed to make it out with his sanity. Like, I get that cultivators don’t need to eat or sleep or stuff like that which is how he survived, but he was still tossed somewhere dark and alone with no comforts, no change of clothes, no food, no water, no company, and no promise of when he’d be released.
All he knew was that he was in horrible pain, both from the qi deviation and from having his bones and ligaments broken to subdue him, and that he had failed to save his Xiao Jiu and there was nobody else who would take up the mantle.
Imagine being alone and desperate like that, screaming, crying, begging, but nobody comes for an entire year. And probably the only thing that kept him going was the need to get to his Xiao Jiu. And then he finally got there, and Shen Jiu was gone and the house was burned down.
I can’t even imagine how painful that must have been. And he SHOULD have told Shen Jiu the truth, but also I get why he didn’t. The guilt, self-hatred, and pain must have all been so strong. And then no matter the version of the story, he still never got a happy ending…
So anyway, one day my “Shang Qinghua saves Shen Jiu and everything changes” fic will finally make its way to ao3. I can’t physically leave Yue Qingyuan like this and I’ve already voraciously consumed so many amazing fics by others. I just want qijiu to be happy!

I think it says something about Halsin that he approves if you try to appeal to Ketheric, to convince him to lay down his weapons and let Tav help him to redeem himself, even though Thaniel clearly states that the only way the land can heal is for Ketheric to die. With that line alone, you'd expect him to be all aboard the Murder Ketheric Train, No Exceptions and yet!
Even though he lost so many people because of Ketheric, his predecessor/mentor, his childhood friend, people he considered to be his family and friends. Even though he has every reason to despise Ketheric, Halsin approves if you try to spare him. He keeps his heart open. No one is beyond help so long as someone thinks to offer it. And he approves of Tav doing exactly that.

Komt en laat ons wederkeren tot den HEERE, want Hij heeft verscheurd, en Hij zal ons genezen; Hij heeft geslagen, en Hij zal ons verbinden.
Come, let us return to the LORD. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. — Hosea 6:1 | Dutch Statenvertaling Translation (SVV) and New International Version (NIV) The Dutch Staten Vertaling translation is in the public domain and Holy Bible, New International Version®, NIV® Copyright ©1973, 1978, 1984, 2011 by Biblica, Inc.® All rights reserved worldwide. Him mentioning that repentance includes recognizing that some of our beliefs are wrong, and how uncomfortable that can be : made me think of unlearning ableism and racism. There are so many moments still where I catch my thoughts going in unkind directions. And it's usually easier to just shrug and move on. It takes work to examine that bigotry we were raised around and eliminate it, and that is usually uncomfortable. But it's so important.
Thats what repentance is. It's not just promising not to swear or to read your scriptures more. It's rooting out your unchristlike beliefs about others and doing the work to be better

At 15, heard of Eric and Dylan and Columbine, and understood how they could have done it.
At 19, rediscovered Eric and Dylan and Columbine through Marilyn Manson. Quickly got into their journals and Jeff-Co's Files.
I began to research other school shooters, becoming obsessed with Kip Kinkel, which led me to writing in-depth fantasies of joining Kip, and Eric and Dylan, in their shootings.
At some stage, spurred on after discovering the Natural Born Killers movie, fantasy crossed over to reality: I dreamed of finding the right guy so that we could do our own shooting. I poured out all my thoughts and emotions into writing.
I actually, unknowingly, came close - on MySpace I befriended Pekka Eric Auvinen, who in 2007 went on to do his own shooting. We spoke about our interests in guns/shootings but never that we each wanted to go through with it.
I also began correspondence with Kip Kinkel, who was my favourite shooter and my biggest crush.
My obsession and dream went on until age 30, when I started thinking about repenting/coming to Christ, Knowing I was going to have to let go of all my shooting obsession and dreams and everything that went along with it.
But I choose to repent, and Jesus immediately, miraculously, healed me of every obsession and dream to do with shootings and shooters. He took away my hatred and homicidal thoughts of people.
I deleted everything related off my computer, threw away all my writings, documents, photos, even all my correspondence with Kip.
The point of me writing this is that I want anyone thinking of doing a shooting, to NOT do so. To know that change is possible, you need only accept Jesus.
Some will be miraculously healed like me, others will need to work through things with Jesus in healing and deliverance prayers and Christian counselling.
Every time I see a shooting, like yesterday with Maine, I'm reminded that it was worth coming to Jesus and be freed of the darkness filled me,
And also how much I want to help people know that change in Christ IS possible.

Society may not tolerate second chances. It can be unforgiving when you make mistakes. But the Almighty is ever ready to give you a fresh start when you turn back to Him. Whatever you need He has for you: healing, forgiveness and peace. Seek Him for a new beginning.

#arthur harrow#I am amused at how doomed he is; which of course is a must for becoming one of my favorites. He said putting glass in my shoes will balance#my scales; will erase my sin. boy did he miscalculate. I am also amused at how much christian his take on penance looks like.opposed to the#idea of being judged by Maat (here Ammit); the idea that it was not possible to be perfect; just balanced.Instead every way penance#atonement-repentance is interpreted; he won't ever get absolution.penance from paenitentia=repentance as the desire to be forgiven;#which he wants. he knows his hope is futile; but he still desires it. He uses the interpretation of penance; as deeds done out of penitence#focusing more on the external actions; than the repentance=referred as the true interior sorrow for one's hurtful words or actions.#He sees his sin as having enjoyed dealing out pain on khonshus behalf; but repentance implies a purpose of amendment which means the#resolve to avoid such hurtful behavior in the future. And boy does he seriously drop the ball on that one; because he still is murdering#his way through his idea of a salvation; for himself and the world at large; even knowing it will end in mass murder. Could he feel#contrition= remorseful or regret as defined as deepest and firmest sorrow for one's wrongdoings. For example after killing the elderly#lady in the alps; he didn't seem to enjoy that killing; but I don't think he regrets it. And goodness do his problems with his take on#penance keep piling up; because it takes two to tango in this guilt and absolution game; a sinner and a god and he is screwed with#any of his gods be it khonshu or ammit. ‘God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance’= goodness of God leads to repentance;#but God’s goodness does not erase his wrath. his gods have wrath to spare; most of all selfishness; pettiness in spades. If his#penance is dependent on the kindness of god we know he is out of luck. Even taking an approach to penances as epitemia which#are given with a therapeutic intent so they are opposite to the sin committed; he is again out of luck. He can't do epitemia in the true#sense of it=which is doing the opposite of his sin. He would need to give up his life for the ones he took.I still believe that he;#as a true ex-avatar of khonshu; is constantly suicidal. So maybe his endgame secretly was that his death should serve as the#last penance. But true epitemia; that is neither a punishment; nor merely a pious action; is specifically aimed at healing the spiritual#ailment that has been confessed; that will be forever out of his reach. Specially because he really has a gift for choosing the gods#he sells himself into slavery for. If it is believed that penance while a duty is first of all a gift from a god=‘no man can do any penance#worthy of God's consideration without his first giving the grace to do so'; it is in this where he again is screwed because he started#the assignment without knowing what it really was. This self imposed penance was without the ‘permission’/order from his#chosen deity; which leaves the god/dess in charge to reject the penance and to happily apply and bend their own rules for what#should constitute his penance=again a servitude without a hope of freedom. Becoming himself a walking reminder to everyone and#mostly to himself that gods are as abusing corrupt and selfish as the evil he wanted to erase and they don’t want penance or#balanced scales. They want tools to do their work = he is screwed because if khonshu doesnt let go of A+ slave material;Ammit isn’t#interested in his atonement or his unbalanced scales for what she sees is his future; she sees a useful servant#and its as easy as this I can reach tag limit in rambling on my favorite subjects guilt imperfect deities and doomed characters

The first duty of authority is to try to understand the force of the temptations which drove the sinner to sin and the seductiveness of the circumstances in which sin became so attractive. No man can pass judgment on another unless he at least tries to understand what the other has come through. The second duty of authority is to seek to reclaim the wrongdoer. Any authority which is solely concerned with punishment is wrong; any authority, which, in its exercise, drives a wrongdoer either to despair or to resentment, is a failure. The function of authority is not to banish the sinner from all decent society, [and never] to wipe him out; it is to make him into a good man. The man set in authority must be like a wise physician; his one desire must be to heal... [and yet] it is always wrong to regard people as things [to fix]; it is always unchristian to regard people as "cases"...The minute people become things the spirit of Christianity is dead. [In truth,] the Bible thinks of people first and foremost, not as fractions of the mass, or abstractions, or ideas, or cases, but as persons, [each one known, loved, and called by name by God.] God uses His authority to love men into goodness; to God no person ever becomes a thing. We must use such authority as we have always to understand and always at least to try to mend the person who has made the mistake; and we will never even begin to do that unless we remember that every man and woman is a person, not a thing.

"Dark counsel is increased! Concealed truth devastates the ignorant, while men in authority step upon the fingers of the innocent! How long shall dark counsel prevail?! Shall veiled intentions come upon My people, to do great harm in an instant?! Shall the nations lie down in death, for lack of remorse?! For I see no sincere repentance, nor has one truly turned about. How long shall the multitudes swear by things made, and place their trust in the works of man?! For the desolate know not the things of God, nor is darkness able to understand; yea, the wicked gnash upon their teeth, the whole body convulses in the wake of mourning, for there is no rest.
Yet My hand caresses the cheeks of the hopeless, As we watch the dawning of the day together…
For the strength of My arm uplifts the downtrodden, My strong embrace heals the sorrowful, Every beat of My heart revives the dead, And the sound of My voice frees every captive…
Behold, the power of My love hides them away!…
Says The Lord."

The LORD's Response to Solomon
However, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, search for me, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear [their prayer] from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their country. — 2 Chronicles 7:14 | GOD'S WORD® Translation (GWT) The Holy Bible, GOD’S WORD® Translation Copyright 1995 by God’s Word to the Nations. Gratitude Day 1337
My precious Lord, You call all of your children to follow You without reserve. You call us to be ready and willing to abandon all that this life has to offer so as to obtain so much more. Give me the grace I need to trust You enough to say “Yes” to You today, tomorrow and all days. My life is Yours, dear Lord. Do with me as You will. Jesus, I trust in You.
