Thinking about how the books introduce us to Narnia as this vibrant, beautiful land and then make us watch it die piece by piece. If you read in publication order you start with Narnia a place of wonder and magic even under the Witch's power and then the Pevensies save it and we get "the Golden Age" and Narnia is really something; if you read chronologically you start with Aslan making Narnia and everything so full of life and song that trees grow from everything that touches the earth and people laugh to be the butt of a joke because they (and everyone else) have never heard a joke before in the history of the world and jokes are fun! And then you read LWW and get to see what Narnia has grown into and get the Golden Age.

And then you read about a Narnia where people are in hiding and magic is a legend (even under Jadis, there was magic) and Cair Paravel is in ruins and lions and beavers are extinct. Cair Paravel can be rebuilt but lions and beavers can't be revived. The characters restore Narnia but it will never be quite what it was. It will never be another Golden Age.

We watch Caspian, boy hero of the last two books, die, grieving and broken and old before his time. Narnia is saved again and it's time for a coronation, just like in MN, LWW, and PC! Yay! Except this coronation will happen alongside a funeral. Underneath Narnia swims a dead kingdom and caves full of monsters waiting for the end of the world. Remember children, all things die.

The next time we open a book, we become the Pevensies, returning to Narnia to find centuries have passed and our magical home has become warlike and worn. Aslan has not been seen in ages; guard towers have been built around Narnia's borders for the many battles. Where are the clearings full of moonlight dances that Mr. Tumnus spoke about, back at the beginning? Tirian assures us Narnia is like that, in times of peace, only visitors from Earth tend to be brought over when Narnia is in trouble. We will not see it. Narnia was like that; good and beautiful and wonderful things did happen. Narnia is death. There will be no after the battle this time, no awakening land or Golden Age after cruelty is stopped. Cruelty and war have seeped into Narnia itself. Guard towers must be built: not a temporary war, but long term militarism. People turn on one another. Everyone dies. Narnia dies.

"I saw it begin," says Digory/the Professor. "I did not think I would live to see it die." Neither did we.

"I did hope that it might go on forever," says Jill. It could have. This is a story. Turns out it's a tragedy.

Tampa Bay's VICTOR HEDMAN is honored in a heartfelt ceremony prior to his 1000th game in the NHL. He becomes the first Lightning defenseman and only the third player overall to play 1000 games for the club. Tampa Bay would go on to win the game 4-0 in a dominant performance in front of a raucous home crowd. HEDMAN logged over 23 minutes of ice time in the victory and was +1 to end the night as his team snapped a four-game losing streak.

btw in case you're wondering if, after reaching adulthood, you finally escape the horrible pain of always being picked last for sports/games: unfortunately, it does still happen, and it still hurts as much as it did when you were a kid

#did i cry about it? i am embarrassed to say yes #listen. i know i'm short and slow and don't know how to play most sports #but still.#also i may be used to this #but being the last to be chosen means you're not chosen at all because you're automatically part of the team #that didn't choose you either. so there's that!#anyway you guys everything feels really heavy right now and so something as small as this feels like so much #i couldn't help for a little moment thinking. well y'all SAY you like me and want me around. but clearly none of you wanted me on your team #not a single one of you! what's up with that!!!!#and i understand that i really do. i'm not aggressive or intimidating on the field. but the point still stands #anyway that is something i would like prayer for. even though community building IS going well #and there ARE bright spots #but the general feeling of this season is feeling unwanted and undesirable and in some capacity unlovable #so would really appreciate prayer in the larger as well as the smaller things #the small things like this accumulate SO quickly and i really.....hate that actually #the waiting room chapter

#tm #you don't get how UNHINGED this makes me it's SO #like he's been out all day trying to track down this missing kid (as part of her case too; to give her another avenue against volker)#and they have their little catch up and at first he's concerned (she's been at this all day and now into the night too #and he GETS it - in a way maybe other people wouldn't - but he doesn't want her to burn herself out; he wants her to be careful #maybe he's about to tell her a version of 'get some sleep')#but then she talks about amanda and it makes me NUTS because she does NOT ask for his help #she doesn't ask him to stay; to read the files with her; to 'burn the midnight oil' with her #she's just...stating her case; explaining why this means so much to her; and he listens; he takes it in; and he makes the choice to help #to sit in this with her and to help her work through it #and i just -- neither of them will ask the other for help (yes i know she did at the end of the last episode the context is different ok)#but they're both so quietly (and sometimes not so quietly) desperate to help each other it makes me sick #it's so interesting to see how they deal with this as the show goes on....idk how to explain it but like #when jane needs help he closes himself off; he keeps secrets and he schemes and he lies ('let me help you' 'you're sweet')#because he's trying to keep the people he cares about - the people he never planned on caring about as much as he does - safe #even as he shares more with lisbon (and sometimes the rest of the team) he still doesn't share everything #because that puts them at risk #and that's what lisbon used to do to - in the earlier seasons she put up walls when she felt vulnerable; and she still does in some cases #but with this case especially she's much more accepting of help - she relies on her team (not that she doesn't usually)#and she's practically an open book to jane - in this scene most of all - she lets herself be more vulnerable #(and open to suggestions/ideas she might otherwise scoff at or reject)#idk idk it's very interesting but this scene makes me so wacky there's something so soft and tender and understanding about it #the way there's no spoken acknowledgement - no 'i'll help' or 'thank you' - just the silent understanding that they're in this together #because they're partners #(also the way he picks at the rest of her food - the 'done with this?' the only thing they say - and the framing through the window #is still somehow very domestic it's like my perfect scene)#spinning my wheels hard i'm not thinking clearly i just love everything about it

I still very loathe the Media Trope of ‘’cold genius man doesn’t feel emotions and never has relationships... UNTIL.. one random relatively bland Preddy Woman comes along and warps his entire personality and ability to think, his heart has grown and his seeming asexuality has evaporated, he is now Normal :)” or whatever like... AS a walking generic hermit archetype myself.. we would NOT act like that .... just let people be detached weirdos in peace, you cowards .. OR, don’t bother to write one in the first place if you find us too boring to exist realistically in our natural state lol.. pathetic

but they are. they are asking people who have that information, for the information. they are doing their homework by reaching out and asking people questions. just because it's not typed on a search bar, doesn't mean it's any less of putting an effort to finding things out.

like i'm sorry people in the past refused/ridiculed you when you asked them for help. doesn't mean you have to be like them tho. why is learning through human interaction rejected in favour of isolated learning?

#my posts #rants #im part of the organising team for the women's march in my city #and someone interested to join the march was asking public transport directions to the march #the immediately response from the social media team in our group chat was to berate that person for being lazy/not doing their homework #like sure the transit map is available on the website #but anyone who takes public transport in my city KNOWS that the trains and maps are unreliable in so many ways #i was exploring a different line yesterday and got on the wrong train despite being on the correct platform #and i take public transport regularly and have a good sense of direction but the public transport here isnt designed to be user friendly #if they had to ask which line they should interchange at you KNOW they are clueless and probably terrified of the public transportation her #and yet as organisers they refuse to make it easier for people to participate at a march no one owes us to attend #they just gave them a link and asked them to figure it out themselves #i am very familiar with that route and i just KNOW the interchange is confusing and large enough that beginner commuters will get lost #and you know what could happen if someone struggles to navigate public transport? they probably would just go home instead #they blame the education system for producing youngsters who are spoon fed #girl the older generation said the exact same thing about your generation pls #your misdirected anger is being projected at the victim of this system instead of at the actual problem #which is what i've been observing from career activists around me and more #you claim to fight for the people #but the very people you're fighting for are asking you for help #yet you refuse to help them unless it's through significant policies or drastic systemic changes #your fight is conditional and only convenient for you but you refuse to admit it and then pretend the opposite #the moment they decided that they would 'teach them a lesson' indirectly by forcing them to figure out their own routes #they've already fallen into that activist trap of thinking they are above everyone else and that they are here to teach people how to #be a better person according to their standards because they know better by being more involved in activism and are better educated #instead of putting themselves in the girl's shoes and not assuming the worst of people as the default #maybe that girl is new in town and is unfamiliar with public transport here #maybe they had a bad experience getting lost before and wanted someone experienced to share some commuting tips to avoid getting lost #maybe she would rather pull her teeth out than try to figure out the route with unreliable mountains of information online #maybe she has executive dysfunction that makes filtering through tons of information to find that ONE route very daunting

Slightly relevant to my previous ask but also not, just remotely related to the concept of "The Banning of the Gremlin".

Suppose Cassie's dad is still in the picture. What if Cassie, surviving the elevator but believing the Mimic's last act (if we're going that route,) and pulling from a past ask where I humored the idea of the cameras in RUIN still having leftover footage of the day SB happened and Cassie salvaging them through the cam stations as well as footage of inside the elevator, she not only tells Roxy but also her dad what Gregory allegedly did?

Her dad, a faztech and likely a reliable Fazbear employee, certainly wouldn't be happy.

Can you imagine him taking all the evidence Cassie brought back up with her and going to Fazbear Entertainment itself to issue an official ban against Gregory, claiming he's a 'destructive child dangerous not only to other children but also to company property' (and all the salvaged footage would help support that claim.)

And I think a company-issued ban would be far wider than the one reinforced by Roxy alone; if the company accepted Cassie's dad's claim in this scenario, chances are Gregory would get completely blacklisted and banned off setting foot in the entire PizzaPlex property (and maybe even other company-owned properties,) and forbidden from approaching the property- which includes Freddy too.

If Vanessa is someone who got Gregory's back after SB, she probably would need to issue a counter claim to prevent or lift the company ban, but unless she has enough proof to present against all the hard evidence of the salvaged footage of Gregory destroying the glamrocks and voicing his betrayal to Cassie in the elevator that Cassie's dad included in his claim, I don't see a very effective counter claim. Either way I can see this putting Vanessa and Cassie's dad at odds with each other as well.

Okay so... Gonna be honest here and say that uhhh. I think including recordings of Gregory's voice dropping Cassie might not be the best thing. For one, Cassie's dad probably has way bigger beef with Fazbear over the murderous robot in the basement that lured his daughter to her almost death, than the kid that wrecked the animatronics. But mostly, that might put a target on his back?? This is a fully grown adult, a Faztech, who knows how the world works, showing up and telling Fazbear Ent that he knows about their killer robot, what it can do, what its done and what Fazbear did to sweep it under the rug, with a pretty good reason to take this to the police and more potently, the media.

I don't like to quote the books too much, but in the shitty Mimic story, one of the guys sent to the warehouse had previous experience with people dying horrible gruesome deaths at Fazbear. I think the intent was to imply that he was sent on this job with his friends as a way of getting rid of him (though I don't think Andrea did a very good job of that at all, this is just a guess) so um. Maybe not his best plan?? Maybe Cassie's dad does go missing, it just happens to be after he stormed into Fazbear HQ and demanded answers from them for what happened to his daughter... I can't see Fazbear taking too kindly to anyone having evidence on them ngl...

It might work without that though! I dunno if he'd risk it or not when Roxy can just bypass restrictions on the Pizzaplex and lock him out for good if she didn't find it more satisfying to mess with him though. Maybe he would! It'd be a hell of a move! I can see Roxy being overjoyed at that one! She'd take such joy in removing him from the Plex herself and waving goodbye to him from the lobby windows lmao

Ooooo hey maybe Roxy could send some of this footage to the higher ups to get Freddy into shit for allowing his fellow expensive animatronics to get damaged? Petty as hell! He's in trouble now! Fucking visits him while he's locked in his room, knocks on the window like "how's it feel Fazfuck?" she's so mean to him

On another note, what if Cassie's dad took Fazbear to court over all the evidence Cassie found with the help of the others and won? What if he's awarded the Pizzaplex and a shit ton of money as compensation? Could have been a settlement or whatever else, but what if he kicked their shit in and now has all the power to make the Plex not a death trap anymore? That could be fun... Absolute hell for him if he loses though...

even though i havent been able to see the new season yet ive seen clips of reagan hugging brett

like thats just so sweet to me 😭 like that just shows how theyve grown as friends

oop ill try not to spoil you too much, might put spoilery stuff in tags so you can ignore it- but yeah, i adore character developments in part 2, Reagan growing more comfortable to phisical touch with her gang and Brett especially has me feeling on cloud 9, Brett knew about her problems, listened and was never pushy with her, only genuine respect and support and that (as well as the Ron plot) looks very much like a boring cliche on paper, but the show handled it magnificently, the way it didnt feel redundant, cheap or annoying and im super pleased with it

#the only thing i really didnt like is Brett's arc #but thats because i think that he deserved a much better conclusion #the episode is still fire tho #i love the subtle (and not so subtle) ways the show SHOWS how much the gang care for eachother #EVEN AB #ESPECIALLY AB #HE KNOWS THAT BRETT IS ALWAYS KIND AND SUPPORTIVE OF OTHERS #SO SEEING HIS GARBAGE FAMILY MISTREAT HIM JUST SENDS THE SILLY AI INTO STOUPOR #ab probably still wants the world to burn but he cares for HIS humans and HIS team and HIS found family #also if you're looking at the tags anyway:#hi hope you enjoyed/will enjoy part 2 as much as i did :)#inside job #ask olex

okay so the ridiculous transparency of Holivia kissing for the paps on DWD release day, yes yes yes, but I am cracking up at the dude directly behind O, actually eclipsed by her at one point, wearing the exact same (gucci) shoes as her and embracing (possibly kissing) some guy (ALSO wearing gucci gazelles I believe) at the exact same time like dude get out of shot you’re messing it up lol (EDIT: thank god for non face blind people, it’s Xander and the management crew) (so probably not kissing, eucccch)
