Girlfriends and Confusion
Scorpion: Walter O'Brien, Paige Dineen, Tobias Curtis.
WordCount: 610
T(W): Threat of violence
Request: Yes; "for the Walter O’Brien x reader, if you could make it like the team finds out Walter has a girlfriend. use your imagination for it, but I want to see Toby confused. 😆" – Anon
A/N: I hope this is what you were looking for, apologies it took so long. Apologies for the GIF choice, I couldn't find one of Toby being speechless.
When it came to light that you were, not only a real human being, but also that you were involved with Walter, shocked was the understatement of the garage. You had heard so much about the team and were nervous to meet them all, you weren’t exactly sure what to expect from each of the team. You had heard about all of them, in great detail according to Walter’s interpretation of them. You couldn’t figure out whether to let mess with them and switch their name’s around or suppress your sarcastic nature and just go with the flow. You sat in the booth at Nemo’s fidgeting with anything in front of you, from the ends of your hair to the napkin you had twisted apart. You jumped slightly as Walter returned to the booth with drinks and a portion of fries to share. He answered his phone and gave brief responses to whoever was on the other end of the call. Then relayed that the team would be there soon. You took a deep breath and looked to the table as you released the breath. Walter looked at you clearly trying hard to work out the right response. He was ‘saved’ from the effort by the bell above the door ringing signalling someone entering. Walter looked to the door, stood up holding the bottom of his tie and greeted the newcomer allowing them to take a seat in the booth next to him, you looked up when you heard your name. You looked up and apologised for not greeting them when they first arrived. You could tell from how the person interacted with you that this was clearly Paige, but your brain was focussed on the earlier conversation with yourself and you, jokingly, assumed this was Happy. The look of confusion on both faces fuelled your fear of embarrassing yourself in front of his friends. Thankfully, Paige didn’t seem to be too offended, but it didn’t prevent the now heightened emotion you were feeling regarding meeting the rest of the team. You mentally scolded yourself and Paige assured you there was no offense taken and that she hoped you could both be friends.
You heard the door go again and felt yourself tense up again. This time you stood up with Walter to greet the newcomer, “Hey Walter, I got your message, why’d you wanna meet he- damn, who’s this?” From the hat and erratic speed of speech you could only assume this was Dr. Curtis. When Walter introduced the speedy doctor, confirming your suspicion, and introduced you to Toby as his girlfriend. The speechless look on the good doctor’s face was amusing to say the least. He couldn’t figure out the words to use and was just looking between the two of you and pointing with his index finger. You weren’t too sure if the doctor had broken or not and looked nervously towards Walter. He looked stoic as he waited for Toby’s brain to engage again and crossed his arms adjusting his stance to stare him out until he had re-engaged and the information settled with him. “What the- how the? Walter!” Toby went back and forth like that for a while, and even when he had sat down, he was still in a state of shock, even when the others arrived, and couldn’t believe that he hadn’t figured out that Walter had a girlfriend. Happy became increasingly annoyed at Toby’s return to the fact that you existed and threatened physical violence on more than one occasion which Gabe tried to diffuse. On the whole, you thought that the meeting went well, even if Toby was completely bamboozled.

Thinking about "Postcards from the Edge" were Toby and Sly think Walter has abandoned them and taking a job with Ella. Or how Paige calls Walter a jerk when all of Ralph's calls to him were going to voice mail.
I just don't get how they could think Walter would up and abandon them.
Walter was upset.
He just learned from Cabe, that Cabe had known what the government was going to do with program he developed and didn't tell him. But Cabe knew exactly what Walter would do and what would happen to him if he did (i.e. prison). In there time working together Cabe had come to see Walter as a surrogate son.
In fairness Cabe did want tell Walter the truth but deep down he knew what Walter's reaction would be and didn't wanted to lose another child. But in "Cliffhanger" Cabe is forced to tell Walter truth about Bagdad. This was only after failing to have a conversation he had with Walter omitted from a release of documents related to the Bagdad bombing.
Walter gets upset and has Cabe removed from the team. But he claims down a bit and they work together to stop the bad guy.
Still Cabe doesn't press the issue and backs off.
Then Pagie blows up on Walter about her son endangering his life because he looks up to Walter and wants to be like him. HE'S YOUR FUCKING SON. YOU'RE THE ONE THAT NEEDS TO EXPLAIN TO HIM WHAT HE DID WAS DANGEROUS.
Yet she goes and blames Walter for HER sons' actions.
Which upsets Walter even more and he takes off.
Its Happy who realizes something is wrong and that they should figure out where Walter is. She has to drag Toby and Sly along with her because they are so sure Walter's abandoned them and cannot wrap their heads around the idea that something might of happened to him. And Paige is too busy acting like a SELF-RIGHTEOUS BITCH, to realize something might have happened to Walter for him not answer any Ralph's phone calls.
As for Cabe. Even though Walter had claimed down a bit, Walter was still pissed. There was no way Cabe wanted to make things worse by pressing the issue. For all he knew it was Sly or Paige calling him, wanting him and Walter to fix things.

Truth, Dare, or Statistics
Sylvester Dodd x Reader
Warnings: fluff, female reader, bit of self-deprecating talk, Paige outs your crush on Sly
"You should just tell him." Paige's voice startled me out my trance. I shook my head and turned to look at her.
"What?"
She sighed. "You need to tell Sylvester. It would make you feel better."
"Oh no. No, no, no. I cannot tell him! He is a certified genius and I'm just a nobody. Seriously, I don't even know why you guys let me hang around," I said.
Paige sat next to me at the table, laying a hand on my arm. "You are not a nobody. Everyone loves having you around. You are smarter than you think and you help everyone here."
I laid my head on her shoulder, resting my hand on hers. "Thanks Paige. But still, Sly could do so much better than me."
"He really couldn't. He loves you."
I shot straight up and stared at her. "Nu uh. You are kidding me."
Paige smiled. "You're just too busy denying everything to see it. But I see they way he looks at you when you're not paying attention. You're the moon to him."
My face scrunched in confusion. "Isn't it normally 'you're the sun'?"
"How do you look at the sun?" Paige countered.
"I don't. It hurts."
"And how do you look at the moon?"
I sighed, seeing her point. "Like it's the most beautiful thing in existence. But come on, Paige."
Paige shook her head. "Don't you dare. I may not be a certified genius but I can tell when someone's in love."
I shrugged.
Paige patted my shoulder. "You'll see." She ignored my gaze as she stood from the table and walked off. She walked over to the staircase and called up to our friends.
"Guys, break time! Get down here!"
She had a smile on her face as she walked back over to me and pulled me to the couch.
Surprisingly, our friends had listened to her and came downstairs.
"What's going on, Paige?" Walter asked, taking a seat next to his girlfriend.
Paige pulled out her phone and began typing. "You guys have been up there for hours so it's time for a break. I ordering pizza and we're gonna play a game."
"Ooh, what kind of game?" Toby asked.
Paige finished ordering and put her phone away. "We're gonna play Truth, Dare or Statistics."
"What's that?" Happy asked, grabbing a chair from the table.
"It's like basic truth or dare but you have the option to ask for a statistical question. So if it was my turn and I asked (Y/N) "truth, dare or statistic" and she chose statistic, I would ask a statistical question such as "how many women have green eyes". She would give me an answer and if she was correct, it'd be her turn to ask somebody else but if she gets it wrong then I get to make her do whatever I want." Paige explained.
"I like this game!" Toby exclaimed, sitting by Happy.
"I take it I'm in charge of deciding if a statistics answered correctly?" Sylvester asked. He grabbed a chair and moved to sit by me so we were all sitting in a circle.
"Yup. Ready to play?"
The group agreed and the game began. Toby managed to dare Happy to let Paige dress her in one of her outfits and Walter got asked who he was secretly jealous of. (He tried to get out of it but said it was Sly.)
The pizza came after a couple of rounds and we chowed down as we continued on with the game.
We were dying of laughter as Sylvester got dared to sing the National Anthem in falsetto. Finally Paige turned to me.
"Truth, dare, or statistic, (Y/N)?"
"Statistic. Let's see if my random ability to guess numbers works on this."
"What is the likelihood that Sylvester has a crush on you?"
Everything went quiet. I felt frozen as Paige's question processed in my head. I couldn't look at anybody else but Paige, too scared to see what their reaction would be.
"0%. We've talked about this Paige," I answered quietly.
"But you're wrong! Please, I just want to see my best friends happy!" Paige pleaded.
I shook my head and stood up. "Thanks for trying, Paige. I'll see you later."
I started walking away when Sylvester called out. "Paige is right! Don't you want to hear the correct answer?"
I stopped walking and wiped the tears from my eyes. "Sure," I said turning around, faking a smile.
Sly took a deep breath, fiddling with his fingers. "The likelihood that I have a crush on you is not 0%. It's 100%. I've just been too scared to say anything because I thought you could do better."
"Sly, no one could be better than you. You're a literal genius and so so kind to everyone. What's not to love about you?" I walked over to where Sylvester was standing, fighting the nerves.
Sly smiled and took my hand. "So what do you say? Will you let me take you on a date?"
I smiled back and nodded.
"Finally!" Toby yelled.
I jumped and turned to face my friends that I forgot were still here. "What?"
"We've been waiting forever for you two to finally confess." Happy explained.
"The fact that you couldn't see the pining happening was excruciating! I was dying to force you two into a closet till you guys kissed but Paige said no." Toby added.
"Which is why I'm confused you practically forced them to say something now." Walter pitched in.
Paige grimaced. "I know. I didn't want to force you guys to do anything but I didn't want to see you in pain coming up with different scenarios where Sly rejected you, (Y/N). The guys needed a break from their work so they wouldn't get burned out and I saw an opportunity."
I glared at Paige before smiling gently. "Well, thank you I guess. I probably wouldn't have done anything if you hadn't intervened."
Sylvester squeezed my hand and smiled. "At least we know now. No sense worrying about what might have been."
I nodded and leaned against him. "I think we've had enough of a break. Sly, wanna show me what you've been working on?"
Sly nodded and began talking about his project as we made our way upstairs. I looked back over my shoulder and smiled at Paige, giving her a silent thank you.
She smiled back and nodded.

It’s been a few years and I was reminded a few months ago of Scorpion. So I rewatched Season 4 partly because I was curious if my opinion changed at all. And uh, no. Walter did nothing wrong. Paige is a hypocrite. Sylvester acting like the reason Florence didn’t like him was because of Walter is still some grade A nonsense. No Sly, whether she liked Walter or not, it’s pretty clear she wasn’t all that interested in you to begin with. What’s wild to me though, is that it was all in character. I didn’t feel like Paige or Sly acted out of character. They’re just both full of shit.
As for Happy and Toby. They knew the situation with Florence would probably tear the team apart, which I give them credit for. They simply blamed the wrong person which I personally think was a little bit out of character. They instead should have known it would tear the team apart because Paige and Sly’s reactions would be bullshit.
Anyway, if I were to guess whether a relationship between Walter and Florence would even work out in the long term, I’d probably guess no. Hilariously enough, I’m still 100% convinced she’d treat Walter better than Paige anyway. At the very least, they’d be very good friends which is more than what the rest of them have been.
So yeah, Walter did nothing wrong.
