Mirio had been selfless since day one. At least, from your perspective.

Being acquaintances for as long as you have, you picked up on the very few times he was selfish. Such as when matters concerned food or the last cold soda in the cooler. And on rare, heart-fluttering occasions, you. There weren’t many moments he’d steal away from the light, so you were more than thankful he was comfortable enough to dive into the abyss with you. The abyss being self-deprecating jokes, light shoves in the corridor, and skipping class on days your mind didn’t let you rest.

Mirio Togata was the person you never knew you needed but now can’t imagine living without. He was all that. And you couldn’t even understand what you were. Friends? Dating? The arbitrary line in-between?

Whatever it was, you were contented with now. You had plenty of life to live and you hoped he did too. Praying it would be spent together.

Your head bobbed, jutting forward when your eyes shut and your consciousness slipped. Sitting straight up as soon as the shock of almost falling asleep woke you, your hands gripped the seat of your chair. Eyes instinctively traversing the room to recall where you had been.

All but one corner of the room was basked in shadows. That lit corner illuminated homely yellow wallpaper, a plethora of scattered toys, and the silhouette of Mirio holding Eri in his arms. The younger girl’s head lulled on his shoulder, eyes closed with light snored leaving her lips. Mirio, on the other hand, swayed side to side. Still humming an incoherent tune, unaware that Eri had fallen asleep already.

For a moment, the idea of a family with Mirio crossed your mind. As soon as the thought came, it was gone. And you shook your head. You expressed your distaste for having kids so the idea must’ve been a fleeting one — a random one. Not an aspiration. Yes.

Maybe?

“Hey there, beautiful.” Your attention turned to Mirio. Cartoonesque eyes looking at you with unexpected warmth, only warmer with the reflection of Eri’s nightlight in his eyes.

“Hi, handsome.” You replied smilingly. Getting up from your seat and stretching to hear the satisfying pop in your joints. “Eri’s asleep.” You informed, holding your arms out. Offering to take her and tuck her into bed.

An offer he silently rejected by turning his body away from yours. A childish “no” making your grin grow wider. “Come over here though.” With his free hand, he waved at you in a come hither motion. Eri expertly balanced in his grip.

“What for?” You approached anyway. Arm outstretching to slip into his. Palm to palm, he pulled you closer till he could rest his head on yours. Arm curling around your waist.

“Just wanted a hug.”

You were still for a beat, then your arms wrapped around him. Careful of Eri, still. Your fingers wound themselves into his hair. Massaging the crown of his head and placing a voluntary kiss on his cheek. “You’re such a big baby.”

“I want one.”

Your brows furrowed, letting out a hum in question.

Your arms fell to his shoulders when he raised his head, now eye to eye with an uncharacteristically serious look on his face. “Can I tell you something?”

You nodded. “Always.”

“I want to be selfish.” He revealed. His admittance making him feel guilty. A promise to save millions — and some part of him wanted to be selfish. “Sometimes, I just want to run away.”

“It’s like that sometimes,” you tried to assure. Placing your hand on his cheek. His first instinct was to lean into it. “But you’re strong. I know you are. And you’re going to help so many people . . . save so many people . . .”

“I want to run away with you,” he added, turning you mute. “I didn’t know life like this — at home without a worry — would be so much more . . . inviting. We don’t have to worry about losing the other. Maybe we’ll have enough time to make a grocery list together. Maybe even get a dog? It’s so much nicer like this . . .”

“But you still want to save people . . .” you interjected. He nodded. “Then I love you too much to take that away from you.” Hearing yourself felt like being doused in cold water, by the time you realized you’d dropped the L, it was too late. So you watched his eyes turn a shade brighter despite the darkness of the room — and you let your mouth run to avoid the inevitable discussion on where your relationship stood. “Your dream was to save millions as Lemillion, all I did was come in at a later date. I’ll wait. We’ll both wait until the world is kind enough for us to settle down properly. Promise. Until then, go be the hero you’d always wanted to be.”

A sniff had pulled you back to reality, your eyes turning into saucers the moment you realized his was pricked with tears. “Mirio? I’m so sorry if I said something out of line! I was caught in the moment and-”

“Stop rambling for a moment,” He chucked, using the back of his sleeve to wipe at his eyes. A dusting of rose being left beneath the creases of his eyes. “I love you too.”

Mirio ‘Lemillion’ Togata

He’s deadass scared when he first heard the news, it’s like all of a sudden the flashbacks of Nighteye struck right through his mind

He came running to the hospital only to see you peacefully laying down, the doctors checking out on you

It pains him to see your arms and the side of your head are covered with blood. It’s suffocating for Mirio to see you at that state

At the very least he had a sense of relief when the doctor disclosed you only have minor injuries, but it’ll take time for you to be back on hero duties

After the doctors leave, he sits down next to your bed, holding your hand, and stares at you with an exasperated and concerned look

His hands run through your hair, carefully tugging it off to avoid waking you up and that’s when the tears he’s been suppressing roll down his cheeks

“I can’t lose you either.” Are the only words that came out of his mouth, Mirio swears to himself that he’s not going to let any of this happen again

The moment you open your eyes, he’ll pull you for a hug. Constantly overjoyed now that you’re in recovering state “I’m sorry if only I arrived sooner-”

Just stop him and kiss him. Assure Mirio that it’s not his fault, don’t let our bby blame himself

Would give you tons of fruits while he reads your favorite book. “You’re so strong, you did so well. I love you.”

Keigo ‘Hawks’ Takami

Would be lowkey annoyed. Not to you of course, but to the villain that got away

Tells himself what are those wings for when he can’t even arrive on time

As the doctors patch your injuries you are looking at the winged hero, blankly staring at the space while his arms are crossed. This time he just can’t keep his upbeat attitude while seeing you covered in bandages

One thing is for sure, Hawks wouldn’t let that villain go around as they wish. He knows that it may be a coincidence from hero work but a part of him knows that you may have been a target too since your relationship with the winged hero is known by the media

You stare at him with assurance, smiling while the doctors are patching up your wounds and when they finally gave you a moment, “Keigo I’m okay-”

He’ll pull you for a gentle hug, kissing your forehead while his hands go through your cheeks “Sorry I’m not fast enough.”

Hawks would tuck himself with you at the hospital sheets. He doesn’t give a single damn if nurses or doctors takes pictures of you and him

Carries you in a bridal style and flies you around. Hawks would and always be the strong person so as paranoid as he is, he tries his best to keep you safe even at a fair distance

You try to joke about it and surprisingly Hawks just goes around with the joke to keep the tension away. “I want mochi”

He kisses your cheeks and smiles before he flies out. “Your wish is my command, Hime”

He does NOT hold back on it

Its honestly not too far off from his normal attitude towards others, but he is much more affectionate towards you, and often makes an effort to be around you whenever he can

Of course its hard since you're a first year and hes a third year, but he makes it work

Especially during training

Youre usually the one he practices with out of everyone, he will help them if they ask, but he'll go right back to you once he's done

Offers to tutor you too if you need it

Mirio will also offer to take you out

He'll invite you to carnivals, festivals, out to eat, the movies, anywhere really

During the UA festival, even though 1-A was performing, he told you he'd stand in a spot where you could see him

And afterwards, he let you watch Eri with him🥺

When hes ready to make his feelings known, they're definitely not a secret

"Y'know Y/n, I like you a lot"

Super upfront about it, but it's not necessarily asking you out

He'll give you nicknames like teddy bear, sunshine, and spins on your own name

Mirio will start walking into school with you every morning

Hell also wait for you after school

Might take you for some ice cream or something if youre up for it

"Hey sunshine, there's an ice cream shop that just opened up not too far from here, you wanna go?"

Overall, hes still his lil sweetheart self, but times 10

AIZAWA.

Hes honestly just his normal self

He'll do a few things out of character, but you wouldn't be able to tell that he has a crush on you for the most part

The most noticeable thing is that hes nicer to you than others

Offers to help you if it seems like you're struggling instead of leaving you hanging like he does for others

If you have the same lunch break, you'll both eat together while grading some papers, and maybe show you around the school some

Shouta often stops by your classroom for a quick second to say hi or check to see if everything's alright, even if youre teaching. But won't interupt during exam season unless he knows you're not teaching

Surprisingly, your colleagues are more aware of his feelings towards you that you are

For example, Ms. Joke and Midnight.

"When are you too love birds gonna get together?"

"Right? I mean I had my sights on Aizawa but hes looking in your direction."

Coming from colleagues, it sometimes makes your face heat up

Meanwhile, Aizawa sits stoney faced as usual upon hearing these conversations, but the smallest smile may slip every now and then

When Shouta ready to let his feelings be somewhat known, his actions around you take a noticeable change from how he acts around others

He lets you call him by his first name

Instead of grading papers like normal during lunch you have a conversation

Stops by your class more

Actually acknowledges the things that others say about your relationship

Not in a big way but he might hum, or send a smile your way

So just your usual Shouta, but a little lovestruck

〚You Can't Pour From an Empty Glass〛

Mirio Togata x reader one-shot

It is expected that injuries and trauma be in the package of a hero. After all, they witness death quite often on the field itself. But when starting out new, U.A. tended to sugarcoat a lot of the dirty work. Advertising to the public that the school raises young students that will successfully serve their country with a smile on their face. For a prestigious school, who wouldn't believe that? All Might, the number one hero, graduated from that school. The truth is, not all of the smiles from U.A. are real.

Y/N was one of those fools that believed that smiles could save the world. She, like others, enrolled in U.A. to become a hero. A hero, like All might. Taking her hero studies with Sir Night eye that had a similar view on a hero. There she met Mirio. A boy who seemed to be smiling all the time. But the sun doesn't shine every day, or else it would be a desert.

The rain was heavy on the hospital window. The white walls and other white objects, now coated with the gray light from the outside. Making the room just as gloomy as the environment outside. Mirio sat in gray shades listening to the pitter patters of rain fall into a musical rhythm.

The mission to save a young girl named Eri and stop Overhaul replayed in his mind in an endless loop. Reminding him of the successes and losses of that day. Saving Eri. Stopping the Shie Hassaiki. And the death of Sir Night Eye. Mirio was still in a state of shock and on the edge of breaking down a second time. The sight of everything still not wrapping around his head just yet. Within his room, he didn't have to hide his smile. Setting free the bottled emotions with a peace of mind that no one could see him at the moment.

With not much sound or any disturbance from Mirio, Y/N slipped into his room. She sadly wasn't allowed on the mission due to still recovering from a previous mission. Oh, how she wished she was there. Maybe she could've prevented the tragic events. Mirio, not knowing the girl arrived, stayed still, letting tears run down his cheeks willingly.

"Togata?"

The boy whipped his head to see his classmate standing there with a concerned look on her face. He hated uncertainty on anyone's face. His habit of covering up any and all negative emotions, he wiped all traces of tears from his face. Replacing the tear stains with a smile.

"Hey, Y/n."

"Togata." The girl called out in a more stern tone. Walking closer to Mirio's bedside. He grew scared, and in turn, his smile faltered just a bit.

"So, how is the recovery?" The blonde head said with fake cheeriness.

"You can't pour from an empty glass."

"What?"

Y/N stood there with a straight face. She watched this boy from day one. Being a person who was reliable and had no goals in letting anyone down. She stood on the side, ready to catch him if he were to ever fall. But he never did or at least pretended that he didn't fall in the first place. Now, his walls were down. Mirio's facade had faded. She could see right through him, and with her stare, Mirio could feel it.

"Y/N.-"

"You silly fool. Thinking you can smile like that?" Y/N interrupted, looking at him and holding her stern but now angry stare. "You can't give what you don't have."

"I know." He broke eye contact and looked down in shame.

"You know what hurts me more?" Y/N reached out and cupped his cheek, making him face her again. "Seeing you bury your true feelings. I hate seeing you put up this character. It helps give security to others, but when you're with me, you also do it. And I can't help but feel like you don't trust me."

"Y/N! It's not like that, I swear!"

"I know. You're a good person, and I know that you don't mean it. With your smile, I can't trust you either. How do I know if that smile is fake? How can I be true to you if you won't be true to me?"

"Then, whenever I am with you, I won't hide anything anymore." Mirio took Y/N's hand from his cheek and placed it over his wrapped chest, and placed it over his heart. This action made both of their hearts beat a little bit faster. "With that said, I want to tell you that I like you."

Mirio smiles lovingly at Y/N. Knowing full well that love was something he could give. And Y/N couldn't help but return his smile.

Mirio loves embarrassing you in front of other people. He finds it absolutely hilarious when you get flustered and your cheeks turn red. He'll make elaborate and loud romantic gestures towards you that make people stop and stare.

A lot of people think Mirio is such a gentleman, that his big "romantic heart" is the sweetest around! But you know a bit of a different story.

The idea of doing it had been at the back of your head for a good while

You were gonna do it when you first thought of it

But you honestly felt kinda bad💀

You weren't gonna seriously hit him of course

It was for a tiktok

And hes beefed up as shit so you doubt that even if you did hit him hard that it'd actually hurt him badly

But Mirio is just a sweet lil ray of sunshine so you just felt bad

But eventually, you got over it, because he probably wouldn't care too much and would laugh it off

So there you are, standing a few feet behind your wonderful boy, phone in hand, and about to do something you'd probably feel bad about if it went even a little south

He was sitting on the couch just scrolling through is phone, you had the perfect opening to hit his neck

So you went for it

You hit play, and took the moment of silence to walk up to him

'I like ya cut g.'

You expected to feel your palm make contact with his neck, followed by a sharp slapping noise

But you didnt

Why you asked?

Because this man is too damn smart and activated his quirk

So your hand just went straight through him

Mirio turned around and looked at you, smiling just as widely as always.

"Nice try, Sunshine.😀"

KIRISHIMA

Like I said... Denki does it, so he knows what it is

He thinks its funny tbh

He wouldn't do it to you though because he'd never hit you

So again... you felt really bad doing this 😭

You guys play fight every now and then, but he usually sees it coming since its gradual

This was gonna be entirely out of the blue

But plus, he wouldn't get angry since Denki already does it. Plus, youre you and youre like one of his favorite people

So you stood behind your boyfriend while he sat on his gaming chair, headset on but one off his ear

It wasn't abnormal for you to mess with him a little while he was playing, he actually thought it was cute

Poke his cheek, kiss all over his face, sit on his lap, anything

But this time was different, simply because it wasn't affectionate

So you took a deep breath, and hit play, using the moment of silence to wind your hand back

'I like ya cut g.'

SMACK

Eiji didn't move for a second, blinking, needing to process what the hell just happened

Then he turned around, an extremely confused expression on his face

And even more confused when he saw you

"Babe??? What was that for???"

You honestly were laughing because his confusion was funny

"It was for TikTok, I didn't hit you too hard, did I Eiji?"

He ended up smiling 🥺

"Not at all baby, can I see the video though?"

You posted it then showed it to him, and Denki and Sero must've overheard since Eijiros mic was still on

You all got a good laugh out of it, and Eijiro wasn't mad at you at all and found it amusing

However, this did prompt denki into screaming into his mic

"I LIKE YA CUT G."

AIZAWA

Most definitely not one of the best things you could do to this man while dating him

Or to him in general...

You knew Shoutas reaction wouldn't be a positive one, but you just wanted to see what his reaction would be

He didn't even know what the trend was, he doesn't even pay attention to social media

Shouta is one of those people that mispronounces social platform names like they weren't made when he was a teen

So he honestly doesn't know what most trends are and if he does its from his students (especially denki, jirou, sero, and mina)

As funny as it would be to make it into a TikTok, you knew that'd be crossing the line with him

So you were just gonna do it as a little joke

Shouta was grading papers at the kitchen table

And you often didn't bother him when he did so unless it was to help him or ask a quick question

So you just strolled up and...

"I like ya cut g."

SMACK

Shouta remained looking down for a moment, before whipping his head around to glare at you

His eyebrow was twitching, and the vein in his forehead bulged

As much as you loved him, seeing him like this because of a silly joke you did was kinda funny so you started laughing

This prompted Shouta to go back to work, opting to ignore you

"Shouta, come on, I was just messing around."

No response.

"Shoutaaa."

He was so petty about it and ignored you for a full day🙄

You didn't get so much as a glance from him till he got home from work the next day
