Nile Freeman Week 2021 — Day 1: The moment you fell in love with Nile
So, to be honest, this isn’t THE moment, - I don’t know what The moment would have been? The plane fight? When she goes to listen to music? The awkward dinner? Talking about her mother and brother? Choosing to return? There are so many fantastic moments that made me love Nile, so this is just one of Many, but I picked it because it’s a little underrated IMO.
Here we have Nile, who just until minutes ago was going to leave them for the moment, come back when she had to, thinking that there isn’t one good thing about any of this - and she meets this guy, who kind of proves her write, but also wants to tell her that she’s wrong, that there IS good, that she, the immortals, this is what they do. And what’s the first thing she sees?
Andy can’t see it. Andy doesn’t think there’s anything good in this, Andy didn’t try to defend herself, because she’s in it - it’s a complete rewriting of Nile’s understanding of what the immortals do in a way that nothing any of them told her is - it’s the moment, I think, when she decides to stay. Not just fight, stay. And that’s not the focus of the scene, not where Nile is concerned! It’s not even for herself that she’s relieved or worried - it’s for the others! It’s for Andy! One of the most wonderful but also most difficult to balance aspects of Nile is how much she loves others, how much I believe she wants to give others, and this scene really hits there!
I just... Nile IS the emotional core of this film, and seeing her rise to the defence of people she barely knows, seeing her connect dots and be the protector she is, watching her with the singular braincell in the film... I just love this scene TT

@creatorsofcolornet event three: pride
➢ the old guard in the colours of the rainbow [insp]
it’s June again and once again it’s always lovely and heartwarming to see so many messages of love and support on tumblr (perhaps elsewhere too but I’m on this hellsite 48/7). pride is a reminder of the wonders of diversity, that love is love, that people can’t just be fit into one of two boxes. wishing everyone - from those who are sure and confident of their identities to those who are still struggling to define who they are, from those who are proudly out of the closet to those who, for some reason or another, are unable to let their loved and close ones know who they are - happiness, safety, and joy this pride month (o˘◡˘o)
