Could you possibly do an Archivist height chart against eachother and maybe other things such as humans/witches or titans? Those mfs are TALL!
going with "funtional" height, so the one they usually keep. I think both titans and archivists have some degree of control on how large or small they can be, this is whats the baseline is
About how tall the titan of isles would be - my theory is here, but I think a lot of height came from their magic post mortem, and they werent exacly this height their whole life. Their magic deals with healing, creating life. After receiving fatal wounds, it tries to overcompensate by generating many new cells and extending itself in a desperate attempt to cling to life, but ultimately fails. Skin splitting, bones extending causing the magic to extend to it as well, until the entire body becomes much larger and collapses, creating a large area that forms an island. During their lives, they were tall, but probably not Mount Everest tall
at least thats my theory on it and I dont really have a better explanation that would make sense to me
Another thing about the Titan that I enjoyed was how he's so fundamentally different from Belos's christian idea of god. She's bigender. She's super chill and takes the appearance of a 40 something dad when talking to mortals. That loud, disruptive woman who is bi, commits treason, and refuses to fall in line? Yeah He's been watching her and is a huge fan. She loves bread puns and uses his powers to make magic more accesible for everyone. He trusts a 14 year old girl with the power of god to save the world and defeat the white, straight man who came to colonize his world.
I’m very glad my theory about “Titans reproduce asexually” ended up being confirmed even if it was so not the point of the episode. Just the Titan going “yeah I’m not limited to binary sex or gender but Dad works fine for the role I would’ve played in King’s life if I’d been present.” An icon.
Now that I know King’s dad specifically showed Luz the Titan glyphs because they knew that she was kind, I just keep thinking back to when she found the first one. And she found it when she was protecting King from Eda’s uncontrolled owl beast form. KING’S DAD GAVE HER THE FIRST GLYPH TO PROTECT THEIR SON!
I love how much a parent the Titan is when we finally get to see him. Like, we obviously learn quickly that this Dad-bod, sweat pants look was clearly chosen to be comforting and to put Luz at ease. But he also makes Dad Jokes! And clearly brags about Kings looks in a light hearted way! Which are such silly parent things to do! And it doesn't take long for the Titan to show the serious parent aspect.
He picks up Luz when she starts sinking, lifts her with no effort really. Then mentions that despite being stuck in the In Between Realms that he can keep watching King. Which is one of the aspects of parenthood I'm sure they were looking forward too, watching King grow into adulthood.
The Titan understands what Luz is saying, gets it on a level not many would and sympathizes with that. Then also admits to those mistakes, and doesn't offer excuses for it! He's had a lot of time to reflect on all of it, maybe even a chance to see what truly happened and how much went wrong.
He does laugh when Luz asks if what they wanted/were willing to do makes them like Belos, but when when Luz shows how much it bothers her? No jokes, no humor, just a sincere explanation and understanding. And so many of the Titan's facial expressions show concern for Luz in these moments, because they've grown to care so much for her for what she's done for King.
And then ultimately they let Luz have a choice in the matter. The choice to be a hero, to be the one to stop Belos, and take the last of that strength. There's no pushing or anything, just encouragement and explaining his choice.
The Titan is just...such a good parent, who would've loved raising King. Who honestly just loves King so much, that he was willing to do anything, and probably loves Luz to some extent as well for being King's sister and shows it through out their conversation.
Here's this stupid animatic video that's been sitting in my gallery for almost a year because I never finished it. I thought it would be better to just share it even if the second half is sketchy
i KEEP seeing the take that the ending of the owl house turned luz into "god's specialist boy/chosen one" and that took away from her arc but!! gotta disagree bros. The final three episodes of The Owl House leaned into the parallels between Luz and Belos, and Luz's own awareness of them. And she's terrified that she's going to share in his arrogance, or his disregard for others, or that she'll continue to aid his destruction of the isles. But she didn't end up like him, and it's not because of random chance. She chose not to end up like him.
Belos thought he was chosen by god because he ended up in the demon realm, surrounded by witches that he decided he had to eradicate. Luz spent a few episodes thinking she had been chosen because she ended up in the demon realm, before realizing that no world works that way, and that she'll have to carve out her own place here. And then she spends 2 seasons doing just that! Making friends, connecting with the natural world, learning the language of the Titan.
Luz was only chosen by the Titan because *she* chose the Titan first. She devoted herself to learning from him, and respecting him, and spreading that knowledge to help other people connect with the isles and with magic. Which sounds a lot more religious, written out like that, than it was. Belos tried to make it look religious, to make it seem like the Titan was an old god, in order to manipulate people. But the Titan is not a god, he's just a huge kind of alive corpse with magic, which witches also have, but Luz doesn't. Luz has been borrowing his magic, just like Belos has. But Belos was using it to destroy the Titan and the life that depended on him, and Luz wanted to keep it alive. So! The Titan helped her! She earned that! She forged that connection with him over months and months of hard work and self-reflection and compassion. Before the Titan died, they had a reciprocal relationship, so of course the Titan wanted to meet her, and use the last of his magic to help her finish what she started.
She was not Chosen (capital C) she was just chosen. As a friend, a human, and a witch, because she chose to be those things herself.
what do you think papa titan looked like when they were alive
He's gonna appear in the main story but anyways. I think there are two forms they take, the larger one that grows to be size of an island and a smaller one (probably using magic like King in the carnival episode), and that might be what the changing before getting under the water was suggested in end of WaD
But I dont really get why papa titan looks so different in the large skeletal form compared to the smaller one, the horns and skull are totally different, the hands change a lot too. I think its more of a design choice to make him look more menacing in the finale and more looking like King in while talking to Luz
