I like Vee (Okey more like I love her to the same level as Hunter) but honestly wish the team had made her a bit more interesting/complex. She instantly give up the moment Luz show up, she didn’t even put on a fight or try to defend the new life she got for herself. Especially since she never prove to be a danger to anyone, she was not an antagonist even after all the indications of the contrary. So... what about a mix between the two?
Something like this:
Belos brought the basilisks back to life to experiment on them, but what if he gave them more uses like: In a case similar to Hunter's, Vee and the other basilisks could have been trained from birth to be the spies who would only answer to him. .
Vee could have been sent to keep an eye on Eda and confirm if she really was in possession of the portal door.
Instead of escaping through the portal, she tried to take it with her, but at this point Eda bent the portal as she tried to take the entire frame with her (since she didn't know how it worked).
She ended up trapped in the human realm and upon hearing Camila approaching she took on the appearance of Luz. Since she had no idea what to do, she decided to pretend to be Luz until she got the chance to escape. after spending time at camp, making friends, and being treated very well by Camila, Vee would decide to stay and live as a human forever, not wanting to be treated like a domesticated animal anymore.
Then yesterday's lie happens. Luz tries to communicate with Camila, but Vee, who doesn't want to lose her wonderful new life, stops her from doing so. Eventually, due to Luz's actions, Vee has used up what little magic she has left, so she decides to go looking for more on the other side of town. During that, Luz would try to get some answers from Vee who tells her that she herself has been a better daughter to Camila, and that she should give up, since they are both happy in the new lives they both got from this.
At the beginning of her journey Vee would have noticed that she is being followed, but due to Luz questions she got too distracted from her and she ended up being tricked and captured by Jacob (who has been watching her since the day she came to the human realm).
Once Vee is left alone in the museum cage, her attitude would collapse and she would panic horribly. Luz manages to calm her down and it is during that moment that Vee tells her her story, how her species was brought back to serve the emperor, how she was trained from birth to be useful to him but that she only obeyed to stay alive.Vee would confess that from the little she knew from her,she throught of her as an ungrateful brat that never appreciated the love that Camila was giving her, to which Luz would correct her by saying that her mother was never the problem, but the social life that she herself ruined, and because of that she wanted to make her proud by being herself.
The episode would end the same way, but at least Vee could have got the chance to be an antagonist to some level. is not much of I think is something

and ANOTHER thing I appreciate about Owl House is that it emphasizes that it’s possible for parents to mess up and cause some level of damage to their kids WITHOUT being toxic or abusive. which is so important in today’s era of tiktok pathology, when wannabe psychologists are so quick to label any sort of parental-based trauma as abuse or narcissism. Camila is a WONDERFUL person and mother, who is very human and makes mistakes that have deeply hurt/misguided Luz, but the show never muddies her or their bond. she and Luz openly love and trust each other. and i just really really really appreciate that nuance

One of the things I like about the episode Yesterday's Lie was how Vee paralleled Luz; both of them are people who were alienated in their own home realms, but when they go to the other realm they find where they truly belong. If The Owl House ever gets a sequel series or a continuation of some kind, I really want Vee to be a part of the main cast.

Collector: "I gave you the draining spell! I taught you magic stronger than anybody's."
okay.
But what was the point of de-extincting the basilisks then? If Belos already had the draining spell (and evidently didn't need them for it).
Kinda makes the whole plot around Vee's existence superfluous.

You're running from your past.
From a previous life that was not kind to you.
However, the guilt and fear you carry
will eventually catch you
in a self-fulfilling prophecy
that you won't be able to escape from.

Fanfiction Luz: I am going to resent Vee for taking my place and I will hold it against her for every single thing
Canon Luz: you’re the reason my mom didn’t cry her eyes out thinking I’m dead! You can keep faking being me until I find a way back sis!
