Neceser bordado a mano; Colección Lanzarote.

Siento a Lanzarote como una isla áspera. 

Cuando llegué aquí, hace más de 20 años, sentía la isla suficientemente alejada para calmar un ruido que me angustiaba.

Horas de sol y sal templaron mi alma. 

Ahora escucho al mar como balsa de aceite, cuando viene de fondo, cuando hay ventolera o hay calima. Se ve y se escucha diferente.

La silueta de la isla y su arquitectura de otro tiempo, son trazos fáciles de reconocer para residentes y visitantes que decidan regalar un producto funcional como recuerdo de Lanzarote.

Algunos de los bordados están inspirados en los dibujos de Santiago Alemán; Catedrático, ilustrador y profesor de la Escuela de Arte de Lanzarote, del cual fui alumna.

Los neceser son de algodón 100% ecológico y elaborados en la India. Los compro a un mayorista español que importa productos naturales desde Asia. El estuche tiene una cremallera en la parte superior y un bolsillo en la parte posterior.

Sus medidas aproximadas son de 21 cm. de ancho, 7.50 cm. de largo y 11.50 cm. de alto.

-The toiletry bags are 100% organic cotton and made in India. I buy them from a Spanish wholesaler who imports natural products from Asia. The case has a zipper on the top and a pocket on the back.

Its approximate measurements are 21 cm. wide, 7.50 cm. long and 11.50 cm. high.-

I think it's time to let this one go. It took me awhile to realize what bad shape it's in, but it made me so happy for so long. It helped me organize my thoughts every time I got ready to travel, either by plane, driving trip, or just a day where I wouldn't be home. It really helped me feel like I had it together, thinking about essentials I'd need for my day or trip. Sunscreen, bug spray, a laundry pen, soap sheets, hand sanitizer, I even carried around paper toilet seat covers for a time.

I have mixed feelings because it's still all in one piece. There are no major stains and the zipper works great. But I can't get over that peeling plastic. It's ridiculous to keep it. Having it shed everywhere can't be good, and the material under the peeling part feels brittle and crumbly.

I love the continued use of old things, but this was cheap plastic, and I don't know how it can age gracefully. Unfortunately, it's to the landfill.

I would love to replace it with something nicer, still structured, that's less harmful as it ages, and ideally not from amazon, but what TSA friendly alternatives are out there?

There's another weird thing about my relationship with this bag. I convinced myself I had it for 10 years. I could have sworn I got it in 2012. I have memories of packing it from big move to big move to big move. But I was mistaken. I purchased it in 2016, which means I got it after the first move. Which also means it took less than 6 years to succumb to this condition, which feels a lot less impressive, even if it's only a difference of four years.

verdict: It cost $6.50 and was purchased in August 2016. I definitely got my value out of it. I used it a lot. I just wish the product lasted longer.
