"as your token straight friend"
does that mean that neither elle nor isaac are straight? because i think elle's sexuality has not been mentioned before. and isaac is planned to be aroace (at least that's what alice said, but i don't know if you can count that as canon yet)
either way, i love all of them so much

ever since i came out as bi to my straight guy friend things have been the exact same as before (which i love) but there is one thing that's different from before and its when he tries to subtlety hint that he wants me to watch a show. the way he used to do it was "i can't stop watching this show, it's called *the name of the show*, it's so good" but now the way he does it is just "this show is so good, it has gay people in it" and that's so fucking funny to me

absolutely cannot wait for Imogen to have a “well EVERYONE wants to kiss girls, including me, and that’s how you know it’s true. because i’m straight. why are you all looking at me like that?” kind of moment in season three

I disagree actually with some of the takes about how Rebecca stating the way Jack is acting remember her how Rupert acted and love bombed her till she complied was uncalled for and mean.
It's not.
Queer relationships are not inherently always good and healthy.
Queer relationships can be as toxic as straight ones. Love bombing isn't a straight thing and it's silly thinking so.
Rebecca treat Keeley relationship as she would have treat a straight one, she saw a red flag, immediately had a flashback of her toxic and abusive past relationship and she brought it up in a quite frankly mature and respectful way with her best friend.
Rebecca has the best intentions here and maybe because I was in a similar situation (one of my dearest friend was dating a walking red flag) I respect her suggestion. Sometimes friends in love need a reality check.
And let's not fool ourselves either, I see why it could be interpreted in the wrong way, because media has a tendency to portray lesbian relationships as either through a male gaze or straight up toxic (masked as spicy women) or worst, as lesser one. I'm not saying this is the case, because right now Ted Lasso broke most of the stereotype. It's a nuanced topic.
With this out of the way...I hope Jack and Keeley relationship will be treat with the respect it deserves, whatever they plan to do with it

listen I don’t even fuck with jegulus like that but I saw someone talk about how it’s unrealistic that all of the marauders are gay… bestie… everyone knows that if one person in the friend group is gay they all are

Dustin Henderson has a really bad gaydar. He keeps trying to set will up with random girls, and is constantly pushing Steve to ask robin out to no avail.
He doesn't see the pining and gay subtext in the way byler interacts. He doesn't see the way El blushes around max, how she curls up across Lucas and maxes laps. He doesn't notice the intense girl fail crush robin has on a certain girl.
He is a very smart guy but he just isn't connecting the puzzle pieces that basically every single person in his life is queer. Rather than a bet of when a queer couple will get together max has started a betting poll of when Dustin will figure it out, with bonus points for the couple that he discovers first.

so i kind of made my very straight, very cis friend watch heartstopper with me and, wow, i did not expect us seeing things so differently
she doesn't enjoy feel-good media that much, which is completely fine, but it felt like she did not understand at all why happy, positive (queer) shows are so important for queer people
she also expected some weird plot twists, like when nick texted imogen if they could meet up the next day, she said that "he's a jerk" because she thought he would actually start something with her. or when tara says kissing nick was one of the things that made her realise she was gay, she thought nick would kiss a girl to find out whether he's into girls. i guess it's because she watches so many shows that have exactly these tropes, but like, that's not how people work?
or like, when nick takes the "am i gay" test, she did not at all understand that that's something that a lot of queer people do
and when charlie says how nick is so different from ben, she was like "eh, is it though". but for charlie, it has never been about ben not wanting to come out yet, it was about how ben did not consider charlie's feelings at all, about how ben made him feel like crap, how he's always been someone that ben could make out with when he was in the mood but nothing else. whereas nick is being considerate, nick does not make charlie feel like crap, and charlie's always been more than someone to make out with to nick. the only thing that nick and ben have in common is the not wanting to come out yet. and that was never the problem for charlie
then she also ranted a bit about how shows at schools are "always the same". and yeah, they do often cover similar topics, but wasn't it you who thought that some plots would go in a completely different direction? she didn't even realise that tara and darcy are together, when there have been sappho and her friend references, the "whoops i said i had a girlfriend" french lesson, and girl in red's song "girls" in the background. and i'm not even sure whether she got it that elle's trans
and sometimes, there was just stuff that felt so relatable to me (and from what i've read of others also to them), like yes, for example the "am i gay" test, or having a teacher who will listen and understand you (why else is it a whole joke that queer people have a thing for their english teachers), or the being afraid of coming out to your parents, or people thinking you're a completely different person after you come out, weird comments just thrown at you. and it just seemed like she thought that this was just fiction. that it wasn't something that happens to people and that it's not really worth showing it in media.
and all that made me kind of sad. i get that she's not experiencing the same things as queer people. and that's okay. but if she was just a bit more invested or informed about queer issues, she would understand all that so much better

not to jump to any conclusions here but if Imogen’s character is going in the direction myself and a lot of others think it is… having a “token straight” that eventually winds up being queer is the most accurate queer friend group experience ever 😭😭
