TMMN EP 13 - Aquarium, Real Life Location
Tumblr media
Based on this screenshot information, I can only assume this aquarium is based on the Sumida Aquarium a public aquarium located on the 5th and 6th floors of the Tokyo Skytree in Sumida, Tokyo. Sumida Aquarium opened in 2012 at the same time as Tokyo Skytree itself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ichigo falls from a big height, the aquarium is set on the 5th and 6th floors, so without a doubt this is the real place.

The aquarium posses a 360-degree view area called”Tokyo Kingyo Wonderland”

The color scheme is so identical

Animals

At ichigo feet we can see some Conger eels .

which are the family of conger and garden eels. Congers are valuable and often large food fishes, while garden eels live in colonies, all protruding from the sea floor after the manner of plants in a garden. The family includes over 180 species in 32 genera
TRIVIA ABOUT CONGER EELS IN TOKYO’S SUMIDA AQUARIUM
Tokyo’s Sumida Aquarium asks visitors to facetime the eels because the animals are feeling sad and shy, because of having no visitors
“ With much of the world’s human population stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic, one Japanese aquarium is exploring a new way to ensure its inhabitants don’t get too used to the peace and quiet.
In an appeal this week, Tokyo’s Sumida Aquarium asked for volunteers to FaceTime its 300 spotted garden eels, which have had limited interactions with humans since the aquarium was forced to close in March.
“As the (aquarium) has been closed for a long time, the animals aren’t seeing any other people other than the staff …they’re beginning to forget about humans,” the aquarium said in a statement.  “
VIDEO HERE
“The garden eels in particular have started to burrow themselves into the sand and hide even when aquarium (staff) pass by their tank,” they added.
This, the aquarium says, is a problem – the eels’ newfound shyness means staff are unable to check up on the fish and make sure they are healthy.
In order to keep their fishy friends socially engaged, the Tokyo aquarium is organizing a “Face Show Festival.” During the festival, which will run from Sunday to Tuesday, it will install five tablets near the tank.
The aquarium is asking members of the public to video-call the eels in an attempt to re-familiarize them with people.
Callers will be asked to wave and show their faces to the eels, but are reminded not to make loud noises, as this could upset them.

2/2 :Tokyo Skytree!
After we left Senso-ji temple on Friday, I wanted to go to Tokyo Skytree! Its main attraction is the Skytree itself, a huge lookout point, but it also has a ton of stuff just in/around the building attached, like a massive shopping mall, an aquarium, and the Kirby Cafe, which we visited with our friend Penko during our last trip in 2019.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our walk to Skytree was maybe about 20 minutes, but it took us a really scenic way, crossing the Sumida River by footpath.
Tumblr media
When we got there, I quickly noticed signs advertising a Cardcaptor Sakura 25th Anniversary Exhibition, which obviously had my attention, so we made plans to go after we went up the Skytree.
Tumblr media
The Skytree itself is the tallest structure in Japan, and the third tallest structure in the world. It has two viewing decks, we went to the lower of the two, which is still a whopping 350 meters (about 1,148 ish) feet above the ground. We got some incredible views looking out over Tokyo and beyond!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After we took the trip up the tower and took in the sights, we headed back down to where the CCS exhibition was. The show debuted in 1998, and I watched the English translated version (called Cardcaptors in the states) as a kid -- I had a Sakura doll growing up, and the villain Ruby Moon was an absolute fashion icon to me as a preteen -- I would have KILLED for her hair. I also had box sets of the original 6 volumes (I still have them actually!)
Tumblr media
The Exhibition mainly showed off stills from the show mounted on the walls, had a big display showing off some of the MANY costumes Sakura wore during the show and lots of photo ops where you could pose with props from the show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the exhibit there was a gift shop, but as the exhibit was nearing it's end (today 2/4 is the last day!) It was pretty picked over. I grabbed some small things (a photo holding keychain and a pencil bag) as mementos and got a necklace with my ticket to the exhibit too!
Tumblr media
It was totally unexpected to get to go to, we had no idea the event was going on, and to catch it right at the tail end was something special!!
At the beginning of the exhibit they walk you through a soft recreation of the beginning of the show, where they address you as if YOU are the Cardcaptor, and even just being in that made up little room replica made me a little misty eyed.
I'm so glad we got so lucky as to be there at the same time!
A few other things we did in Skytree (that we took fewer pictures of) was stop at a stand that sells individually wrapped umeboshi, or pickled plums, for a snack; there was a small Ultraman themed shop (which of course Charles loved) and there was a Pokemon Center there too, which was INSANELY crowded. We didn't want to take too many photos in there because of just how much was going on in there but I did snag a few.

A puddle of water. (Sugiura Eren, 2024.04.04)
Good evening everyone! I'm Sugiura Eren! Thank you for your hard work today💖 Look at this〜〜✨️
Tumblr media
I found this beautiful cherry blossom tree while taking a walk. I wonder what kind of cherry blossom is it? It seems to be darker in color than the usual ones I see. It looks cute! I was admiring them until the wind blew and scattered them, it was a very beautiful sight! I wish I could go see the cherry blossoms.🥹 I'd always go to my hometown every year during this season, so I hope I can go there this year too! Which part of Tokyo would be best? Well I can't think of anything lol Maybe I'll just go to a nearby park to see the cherry blossoms.🌸 No, I don't even know if I can go there now lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I bought this new hat! It's so cute, it's like love at first sight!) Also tonight's the first time in a week that Uchuwara will be broadcasted!!! It always has been after a week, I know and I apologize. I'll be introducing another anime in the "Eren x Recommendations" series! It's the same thing that appeared on my blog a while ago!!! Did you figure it out already? The broadcast will be on CBC Radio "Oshimashi" at around 2250! I hope you'll listen to it!🌟
Thank you for reading to the end and thank you for all the comments! I was so happy to learn about many of your aquarium recommendations yesterday! As I was reading the comments, I realized that I've been to many different aquariums. I'm grateful to my family, grandparents and friends!☺️ If you're around Aichi, Toba aquarium and Takeshima aquarium are good places to go to! Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, Kaiyukan and Sumida Aquarium are also amazing!
Personally, I really want to visit Churaumi Aquarium and Enoshima Aquarium. That was my plan, until I saw everyone's recommendations, I find them all to be amazing!✨️✨️ I plan to conquer all the aquariums one day! Last but not least, I'd like to introduce an anime that comes to mind when talking about aquariums! It's called "The Aquatope on White Sand" At the time when I was watching this anime, I was working on a topic related to "starting our own company" in art class. I was inspired by this anime and decided to draw an aquarium! I think I named it "Yuimaru aquarium" or something along those lines lol. The Aquatope on White Sand It's a wonderful and heartwarming show set in Okinawa. if you'd like, please check it out! With that, see you tonight! Arrivederci🧿

I live in a rural area near Tokyo, but there is a well-developed express line from there to Tokyo. I like the feeling of the scenery when riding that train as it gradually transitions from the countryside to skyscrapers, and that is what inspired me. Artwork is moon jellyfishes (Aurelia aurita) on display at the Sumida Aquarium, photographed in August 2019.

Oranda Goldfish!
The Oranda Goldfish is a funny looking breed of goldfish
They were originally bred in China but when they were brought over to Japan their was some miscommunication and people thought they were native to the Netherlands
It was originally dubbed “Netherlands Lionhead” (オランダ獅子頭) which is where the English Oranda comes from
If you have read this far why not follow us @animalfacthub for daily animal facts and pics!
