I- I thought people had hair on the tops of their feet?? Like- I have a Tolkien hyper-fixation and I got so desensitized to the hair on hobbit’s feet, that I began to find it normal. So normal that I got confused when I was corrected my my mother when she told me that the only hair on our feet are on our toes. When she told me that it was like a gear clicked back into place in my head and I went ‘ohhhh’.

"The Ring-Bearer is setting out on the Quest of Mount Doom. On him alone is any charge laid: neither to cast away the Ring, nor to deliver it to any Servant of the Enemy nor indeed to let any handle it, save members of the Company and the Council, and only then in gravest need. The others go with him as free companions, to help him on his way. You may tarry, or come back, or turn aside into other paths, as chance allows. The further you go, the less easy will it be to withdraw; yet no oath or bond is laid on you to go further than you will. For you do not yet know the strength of your hearts, and you cannot foresee what each may meet upon the road."

"See! The beacons of Gondor are alight, calling for aid. War is kindled. See, there is the fire on Amon Dîn, and flame on Eilenach; and there they go speeding west: Nardol, Erelas, Min-Rimmon, Calenhad, and the Halifirien on the borders of Rohan."

Hello and welcome to Tolkien Gen Week!
This is a week to appreciate all of the incredible characters and relationships within Tolkien’s legendarium that fall under the broad category of “gen.” Gen content is often less visible because of the relationship-focused nature of fandom, but Tolkien’s works are full of other kinds of stories, and this week is an effort to give them the appreciation they deserve.
This event began in January 2018, and now, 2.5 years later, we’re back for more!
Any content and creations are welcome as long as it is non-romantic and non-sexual! You can create edits, gifs, fanart, fanfic, fanmixes, and more! This event will run from July 6-12, 2020! Please tag your posts with #tolkiengenweek so they can be easily found.
Below are some prompts for each day of the week. They are not mandatory, but they are here to inspire you. This page will lead to an explanation for each one.
DAY ONE: familial relationships DAY TWO: platonic relationships DAY THREE: gray spaces DAY FOUR: solo DAY FIVE: diversity DAY SIX: group dynamic DAY SEVEN: free choice
This event is being organized by @arofili. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to message this blog or my main.

@oneringnet alternate universes event ♔ QUEEN UNDER THE MOUNTAIN
And the lady Dís wept for her fallen kin but raised her head and spake: Crown me here and now Queen Under the Mountain, for I claim the right as sister to the King and mother of his Heirs. And thus she sat upon the throne of Erebor and ruled Durin's Folk until the days of the Ring, where she fell defending the gates of her queendom, and the crown passed then to Thorin III Stonehelm, her cousin's son.

But Melian said: ’ Truly for these causes they came; but for others also. Beware the sons of Fëanor! The shadow of the wrath of the Valar lies upon them; and they have done evil, I perceive, both in Aman and to their own kin. A grief but lulled to sleep lies between the princes of the Noldor.’ And Thingol answered: ‘What is that to me? Of Fëanor I have heard but report, which makes him great indeed. Of his sons I hear little to my pleasure; yet they are likely to prove the deadliest foes of our foe.’ 'Their swords and their counsels shall have two edges,’ said Melian; and afterwards they spoke no more of this matter.
