                                ─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
the waves crashing on the sand, the smell of salt and sunscreen in the cool breeze, the seagulls calling in the blue sky above the ocean, and the feeling of the sun on your skin.
you were home.
you smiled as you entered the holland’s beach house, it being a tradition to come every summer since you and your older brother were born. your parents had been life long friends of the hollands, nikki and your mom being so close that the two were practically sisters. the husbands always stayed at home to watch over things while the wives and the kids took a vacation. that’s how things have always been.
of course amongst you and your older brother, there were the holland brothers. four of them, in fact. two of them were twins, harry and sam, and the youngest one, paddy, being like one of your own brothers. he was your favorite, but you’d never let the other boys know that.
lastly, there was the oldest holland boy, tom. tom was your first crush, the only boy you’d always wish for on your birthday when you blew out the candles on your cake. he was protective of you, always defending you when the other boys made fun of you or left you out of things. if you were living in a fairytale, he’d be your knight in shining armor.
but this summer, you had a gut feeling that everything was going to be different. your suspicions were right when you weren’t greeted with a bear hug from tom, which had become a tradition over the years. instead, he walked up to you and gave you a small smile and an awkward wave.
you had furrowed your eyebrows, but let it roll off your back as you made your way to your room. it looked the exact same, the baby blue walls and white furniture. the blue and yellow floral bedding.
everything was just the way it was supposed to be.
you turned your head as there was a soft knock on your door, “hey, what’re you up to?”
you smiled at sam, folding your clothes as you shoved things into the dresser drawers, “putting things away,” you turned to look at him as he laid on the bed, head resting on his hand as he watched you, “what’re you up to?”
you and sam were probably the closest, the two of you bonding over your love for surfing and swimming all day long. the two of you ‘were like fish’, as your mother likes to say.
“probably gonna go catch some waves,” he smiled, “look at ‘em! practically callin’ my name!”
you laughed, looking outside the large window that sat across from your bed, “they do look pretty nice.”
“you comin’?”
you sighed, shaking your head as you threw your clothes down onto the bed, “fuck it, yeah.”
his smile lit up, “sweet! i’ll meet you outside in 5.”
he sprung off your bed and made his way to his own room, closing your bedroom door behind you. you grabbed a bathing suit, quickly throwing it on before grabbing your tote bag and throwing in a towel and your book, slipping on your flip flops before making your way down the wooden steps. you met sam downstairs, smiling to both of your moms as you entered the kitchen.
“already heading out?” nikki smiled, she knew you and sam loved to hit the beach on the first day.
“yup, the waves are calling to us!” sam said, tossing you a water bottle from the fridge. you smiled as you caught it, hearing another set of footsteps enter the room.
“just make sure y/n doesn’t wipe out this time.” your brother joked, causing you to roll your eyes and flip him off jokingly.
“one time! it was one time, austin!”
he let out a chuckle, looking at your mom, “do you care if harry and i head into town?”
she shook her head, “no, just make sure you’re not doing anything stupid.”
he fake saluted her before walking backwards into the living room, calling to harry. you looked at sam, giving him a small smile before nodding your head to the door.
“come on,”
“be careful you two!” the moms called out, both of you calling back to them and replying that you would before heading to the side of the house where they kept the surf boards. you grabbed yours before taking off towards the entrance of the beach, both you and sam looking out to the waves before smiling to each other.
“i’ll race ‘ya.” he smiled as you plopped your things into the sand. you sighed, thinking of an excuse you could use to distract him so you could get a head start.
“c’mon sam, it’s not fair. you always beat me-” you started before suddenly taking off towards the water. he laughed, calling back to you as he followed you in pursuit. you giggled as you plopped onto the board, paddling your way out.
“you’re lucky i like you enough for you to have that victory.” he said as he paddled next to you, finally catching up. you laughed, nodding your head to the right.
“c’mon, i’ve been waiting all year for this.”
“ladies first.”
the water was warm, the waves perfect for surfing as you and sam took turns riding them. you both had been in the water so long you hadn’t noticed that the sun was starting to go down, leaving you both with an hour left of sunlight.
you made your way to the shore, sitting your board next to you as you sat on the towel. you looked out at the view in front of you, swearing that no matter how many times you saw it, it could never get old.
“i’m gonna head back and see what the moms are doing,” sam said, pulling you out of the trance, “you comin’?”
you shook your head, “nah, i’ll probably read for a little bit before heading up.”
he smiled, “okay, nerd.”
you rolled your eyes and watched as he stood up, grabbing your board from the sand, “i’ll put this beaut back for you.”
“thank you,” you smiled and he nodded.
“‘course, see you when you come back.”
you nodded as he walked in the direction of the house, a board under each arm as he hiked through the sand. you grabbed your book from your tote bag, occasionally looking up from the pages to watch the sky turn into a mix of pink, purple, red and blue.
there was nothing prettier than an east coast sunset.
you were too lost in daydreaming and watching the sky change from blue to a mix of pink, purple and red to realize someone sat down beside you. when you saw a flop of brown curls out of your peripheral, you realized it was just tom. you smiled over in his direction as he brought his knees to his chest.
“fancy seeing you here,” you joked, “come here often?”
he chuckled, “ha ha, very funny.”
you smiled, “seriously, though. where’ve you been?”
“out,” he shrugged. you knew he didn’t owe you and explanation, but you were curious about what got him so down that it changed his entire demeanor.
“knew i’d find you here, though. you’re always on the beach on the first day.”
“yeah, it’s nice and quiet when it’s sunset. it’s peaceful.”
his eyes slightly widened, “sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt. i can go, if you-”
you shook your head as you waved him off, “nah, it’s okay. nice to finally see you. was honestly getting a little lonely.”
he nodded, looking down at your book as he traced over the pages with his fingers, “reading anything interesting?”
“not unless you’re interested in reading about a girl who’s in love with a guy who’s a douche bag hockey player for their college.” you smiled over at him, your hair slightly falling in your face as the wind blew. he rolled his eyes, chuckling playfully.
“you’re always the sappy one.”
“i am not!” you laughed, shoving his arm playfully.
“mhm, okay.” he hummed. the two of you sat in comfortable silence, you taking in a deep breath before speaking, scared of ruining the peaceful moment.
“how’s alexis?”
he stiffened up, clearing his throat before speaking, “dunno, could ask the guy she cheated on me with.”
you frowned, “t, i’m sorry.”
he waved you off this time, “nah, don’t worry about it.”
“she kinda sucked anyway.”
he laughed, “you’re on the nose with that one, young blood.”
you rolled your eyes at the nickname, “oh my god, i’m literally a year younger than you.”
“14 months, actually.”
“seriously, i could drown you in the ocean right now and no one would know.”
“you’d honestly be doing everyone a favor.” his response concerned you slightly.
“forreal though, you doing okay?” you asked, meeting his eyes. his brown eyes looked right back into yours and they looked so pretty in the colors of the sunset. he gave you a soft smile.
“i am now.”
your heart skipped a beat, taking in his slightly crooked nose from breaking it one too many times during filming. the way his freckles looked on his sun kissed skin.
tom holland was perfect to you. the true definition of perfect, the man of your dreams.
you cleared your throat as you broke the eye contact, looking down at the sand, “how’s work?”
“good, honestly,” he shrugged, “taking a break for the summer, kinda wanna just relax and live life since i haven’t really gotten a chance to do that in the past 7 years.”
you nodded, “yeah, i couldn’t imagine.”
“what about you? how’s school going? your last year, right?”
you nodded, “you’re looking at a future holder of a masters degree in business.”
“wow, miss smarty-pants,” he laughed, “kinda thought you’d go for the doctorate, y’know? dr. y/n y/l/n sounds good.”
you laughed, “no thanks, i don’t need any more debt.”
he tilted his head, “fair enough.”
“still ticklish?” he asked and you looked over at him with wide eyes.
“...no…” you hesitated, but he didn’t buy your lie. he gave you a look before he started digging his hands into your sides. you laughed loudly, trying to pry his hands off of you as he tackled you to the ground.
“tom! stop!” you laughed, pushing his hands off of you as he looked down at you. he smiled back down at you, his curls falling against his forehead as his brown eyes locked with yours again. you noticed the way he studied your face, his eyes looking down at your lips. you hadn’t even realized you were subconsciously doing the same thing, your hands moving his curls from his face. he slowly leaned down, his nose bumping against yours. he knew he would regret it if you didn’t lean in, too. but part of him knew you were going to.
his lips brushed against yours and you could feel his minty breath fan your face. he was so close. the type of close you’d been dreaming about ever since you were younger.
“the moms want the both of you back for dinner.” sam’s voice broke the two of you apart, tom scrambling to get off of you as you sat up. you both nodded back at sam’s unamused look, him turning around as he headed back down the sand path to the house.
you grabbed your things and packed them into the tote bag. tom offered you a hand as he pulled you up off the sand. you smiled as a silent thank you, a small blush creeping onto your cheeks.
“last one to the house gets the loser’s dinner roll.”
your eyes widened as you pushed his chest, knocking him a bit off balance as you took off towards the house. he laughed, following you in pursuit.
“cheater!” he called after you.
“gotta keep you on your toes, holland!”
he shook his head, mumbling under his breath, “yeah, you definitely do.”
all you could think about was that this summer was definitely going to be different. maybe after all these years, your wishes would finally come true. but of course, time could only tell.
but there was one thing you knew for sure: tom holland was going to be the death of you.

instead of you [part sixty] || th
pairing: [best friend’s brother] tom holland x college!reader
summary: you didn’t expect to spend your summer pretending to be your best friend’s girlfriend- then again, you didn’t expect to fall for your best friend’s brother, either.
warnings: swearing, angst
word count: 3.1k
“How much longer until we reach it?”
“You’ve asked that six times in the past ten minutes!”
“That’s because no one’s given me an answer!”
“Because no one knows, Harry! None of us have hiked this path before.”
Harry grumbled something behind his brother’s back but he must not have heard it because he didn't argue further.
The majority of the hike thus far had been uphill, something that the park rangers had neglected to mention when they sent you off into the forest. Thankfully, the mountains and canopy of trees provided some kind of shade but it was still scorching hot. And humid. And you were sweating like crazy.
Everyone was. Tom had already taken his shirt off and Harry had completely sweat through his. That was probably why he was complaining so much. He refused to take it off, though. Something about not wanting to get sunburned again.
“You doing okay?” Sam asked, looking over at you.
The two of you had found yourselves in the middle of the pack for once, walking behind his parents and in front of his brothers.
“Yeah, fine,” you answered, trying not to sound as out of breath as you felt.
“Did you bring your inhaler?”
“Um...”
“Why do I even ask?”
-
After fifteen more minutes of walking and a bathroom break, you finally reached the waterfall.
Harry sighed. “That’s it? We walked all this way for this?”
“Shut up, Harry,” Sam snapped. “It just looks small from the bridge, it’s not actually that small.”
“I’d say it’s a pretty average size,” you added, “maybe even kind of big.”
Tom laughed behind you. Thankfully, his parents didn’t seem to hear your comment. To be fair to Harry, it wasn’t a huge waterfall. It certainly wasn’t the biggest waterfall in Hawai’i, but it was one of the few that visitors could swim under. That’s what made it so popular.
And the bridge had made it look smaller than it really was.
There was an area to rinse off before and after getting in the water so you all took turns under the showerhead.
Nikki was the only one who didn’t want to swim, which meant that she was stuck with all of the bags. You felt sort of bad when Sam handed over the backpack you were sharing but Nikki assured you that it was fine, that she would rather hold them for you than have you rent one of the rusty lockers to store it in.
Waimea Falls required everyone to wear a life jacket, regardless of swimming ability. You knew it was a liability thing but you still couldn’t help but shiver when you slung on the cold, wet vest and buckled it around your chest. Who knows how many people had worn it before you today.
Shoes were optional so you left your sandals in the gravel by the bleachers and tiptoed your way back over to the edge of the water. The boys did the same.
The five of you stood there, staring at the rocks leading down into the lagoon, trying to figure out how to proceed without falling. It was hard to determine the best way in as all of the rocks that were big enough to step on were also either jagged and/or slippery.
“Ladies first,” Harry said unceremoniously.
You glared at him but decided to take a step down anyway. Someone had to go first and since everyone else was being a pussy it might as well be you. You moved at a snail’s pace, trying your best to move in a way that wouldn’t send you tumbling down the incline if you misstepped.
The rocks seemed stable enough to hold your weight without sliding around in the mud but one of them wobbled under you upon stepping on it, making you nearly lose your balance.
“Careful!” Sam and Tom shouted at the same time, causing you to turn around and make a face at them both.
They traded weird looks with each other before turning their attention back to you, who had made significant progress toward the water. By the time you finally reached the edge, the boys had started trekking down behind you, much more haphazardly than you had.
You extended your leg out in front of you to feel it out, trying not to scream when your toes grazed the water. It was freezing, way colder than you expected, but you knew it would feel incredible once you were fully submerged. It was one of if not the hottest days of the trip and you had sweat through everything. Even the life vest they’d saddled you with was beginning to feel sticky.
“How is it?” Sam called from behind you.
“Feels good!” you lied, not trusting yourself to turn around and show him your face. He’d know you were bluffing instantly.
Since you didn’t want to hold up the line, you took a deep breath and pushed yourself off of the ledge, finding your footing with both feet in the water. The bed of the lagoon was also covered with rocks. They were more slippery than the ones on the path seeing as they were wet and covered with algae so you had to be extra careful.
You moved away from the shore so that the boys could get in after you.
“Oh, Jesus fucking Christ!” was Sam’s shout from behind you.
You turned back to see him submerged up to his waist. He apologized to the people around him for cursing before glaring at you.
“You little brat!” he muttered, lunging at you.
You let out a yelp as the weight of your best friend dragged you under. You both emerged with dripping hair, laughing and sputtering.
“You said it felt good!”
“It does! It’s refreshing!”
“It’s cold as fuck,” he muttered, “and you knew that.”
“What, can’t take a little chill?” you taunted.
He splashed you.
“Are we going to swim over to the waterfall or what?” Tom’s voice echoed from behind you both, sounding annoyed.
Sam smirked before turning around to face his older brother.
“We don’t all have to go together. You could have gone on without us.”
Harry was the last to get in, gingerly stepping on the algae-covered rocks to make his way over to the three of you. Dom stayed by the edge, content to keep Nikki company from the water. He claimed to be too old to swim against the current just to get thousands of gallons of water dunked on him.
“Let’s go, babe,” Sam said, jerking his head over his shoulder in the direction of the waterfall.
Swimming to the base of the waterfall proved to be a lot more difficult than it looked. The current was strong and moving against it required a lot of effort. People who weren’t strong swimmers had no chance of making it all the way under.
It was doable for you, but not without struggle. The boys seemed to be in the same boat, save for Tom, who was the fittest out of all of you. He was already several strokes ahead of the rest of you when Sam called out for him to wait up. He paused and tread water while he waited for you and the twins to catch up.
“I thought we were going together,” Harry panted bitterly.
“Not my fault you guys are slow,” he rebutted.
“Maybe we should hold hands,” Sam suggested and pointed to another family who was making significantly more progress. “They’re doing it.”
“You think that’s going to work?” you asked.
“Yeah, how do we know you guys aren’t just going to hold me back?”
Harry clicked his tongue in annoyance. “Tom-”
“You could stand to pull some more way, Spider-man,” Sam pointed out.
“Tsk, fine. How should we do this?”
Tom obviously helmed the line. You were stuck between him and Sam, with Harry bringing up the rear. You didn’t argue about your place in the order but it did feel strange to be holding both Tom and Sam’s hands at the same time. You couldn’t tell whether they felt similarly but you had to assume they did.
Tom tugged you along and you pulled Sam in turn. They held on to you tightly so as not to lose you in the tide. You tried to focus on keeping your head above the surface instead of the feeling of both of their hands in yours.
Sam’s hand-holding strategy actually worked and you made it to the waterfall twice as fast as you would have on your own.
Trying to get under the waterfall was another ordeal. The water pressure was so aggressive that you had to fight against the water in order to get up on the rocks right beneath the stream.
“This kind of hurts!” Sam shouted over the roaring of the water.
“Yeah, I think I’m getting bruises!” Tom agreed.
“You guys are pussies!” you yelled, even though it did hurt and you wouldn’t be surprised if was bruising you.
“I think Mum is trying to take a picture!” Harry screamed.
Automatically, all four of you posed even though you couldn’t see where Nikki was and you could barely open your eyes under the stream. You grabbed for Sam but got Tom instead, accidentally squeezing his ass in an effort to hold his hand. How you mixed up the person standing beside you and mis-approximated where their wrist was, you didn’t know, but you immediately let go once you realized your mistake and fumbled for the right person’s hand instead.
If Sam noticed what happened, he didn’t say anything about it. Tom definitely did notice and you could see him trying not to laugh out of the corner of your eye.
“Should we swim back now?” one of the boys, you weren’t sure which, asked after you had stood there for what felt long enough for their mother to have snapped a couple of photos.
“You guys can, I think y/n and I are going to swim around by ourselves for a bit longer.”
That was news to you but you weren’t necessarily upset about it. You hadn’t been in the water for long anyway and you wanted to make the most of it. And if Sam wanted to be alone with you, you weren’t going to say no.
Your number one priority was winning him back, making it up to him, as much as you could.
You followed Sam to a secluded part of the pool, letting him tug you along as you floated on your back. Tom and Harry either got out or fucked off to another part of the lagoon. You weren’t paying attention when you split up and you weren’t about to look for them.
“Did you want to talk about something?” you asked your best friend.
“No, just wanted some space from my brothers.”
“Oh, ok.”
“Did you want to talk about something?” he parroted.
You made a face. “No, unless you’ve changed your mind.”
You could tell he knew what you referring to immediately from the way his expression shifted.
“Not here, yeah?”
You nodded in agreement. He was right, you should have that conversation somewhere private. Still, you took his answer as a good sign. ‘Not here’ implied that there was somewhere that you would have that conversation, which meant that he was willing to have it. You counted that as a win. A very small win, but a win nonetheless.
“What?” Sam asked, squinting at you through the sunlight.
“Huh?”
“What’s got you smiling like that? What’s on your mind?”
You hadn’t realized you were smiling until he pointed it out.
“Just happy to be here with you.”
-
You had dinner at some famous burger place that night. You were too tired to pay much attention to what you were eating or what everyone was talking about but you’re pretty sure the food tasted good.
The restaurant was in the middle of their dinner rush when your party arrived so you had to wait for a table. There was a small surf shop attached to the same building so you went with the boys to check it out while Nikki and Dom scoped out somewhere to sit. Everything was expensive so no one bought anything but window shopping kept you occupied for the time being.
After dinner, you rode with Sam’s parents back to the resort. He seemed indifferent to your presence this time, which you took as another win. He held your hand in the back seat and you rested your head on his shoulder. Neither of you fell asleep but you kept your eyes closed, enjoying the silence.
“We’re here, kids,” Nikki said softly once Dom had parked in the lot.
Sam stretched, forcing you to sit up too. You thanked them for the ride, and for dinner since they paid, before Sam asked if you wanted to take a walk on the beach.
“Sure, let’s go.”
He led you by the hand through the maze of buildings to the hotel’s beach entrance. You passed other couples as you strolled past the pool and the firepits and it made your heart sink a little. You were jealous of them. Jealous that they could enjoy each other’s company out in the open like that. Jealous that they looked so happy. Jealous that they weren’t sacrificing one relationship for another.
You were definitely projecting, they absolutely could have been in the same situation as you and you would never know but you refused to acknowledge that possibility because you were resolute on feeling bitter.
The sun hadn’t fully set yet despite the late hour. Being that it was still the middle of summer, it wouldn’t get dark until much later than usual. You were also convinced that daylight lingered longer in Hawai’i than it did in other places but you had no evidence to back that up.
“Here, I’ll carry your shoes for you,” Sam offered, holding out his free hand for them.
You paused. “Oh, are you sure?”
“Yeah, I know you don’t like the feeling of sand in your shoes.”
“Thank you.”
You bent down to undo your sandals and handed them to Sam. He looped the straps around two of his fingers and resumed holding your hand.
The sand was still warm, holding on to the heat of the day.
“Are we going all the way down to the water?” you asked.
“If you want to,” Sam answered.
“I don’t really feel like getting wet again.”
“That’s fine with me.”
You settled for walking along the outline of the tide where the sand was still dry. You followed the curves of the waves from hours past, tracing the remnants of high tide with your arms out like you were walking on a tightrope. Sam trailed behind you for a few moments before catching up with you again.
You had pulled your hand out of his grasp moments earlier to run ahead, distracted by the seafoam in the distance. You waited for him and put your arms back by your sides.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to ditch you,” you sighed when he reappeared at your side.
“I know,” he replied.
Instead of offering you his hand this time, he gave you his elbow. You took it gently, resting your hand on his bicep.
He was uncharacteristically quiet. You wondered what was on his mind. When he invited you down here, you thought it would be to talk, to finally have that conversation. Maybe it had been and he changed his mind. Or maybe it had never been his intention in the first place.
You were starting to think you’d never get an answer when he finally spoke.
“I’m sorry for what I said.”
You tensed but kept walking, not wanting to confront whatever expression might be on Sam’s face. If you stopped, you would have to look at him or stare at the ground. If you continued walking, you could just look straight.
“I... didn’t mean that shit... about wishing I never met you. Or any of it really. I wanted to mean it. But I couldn’t, because none of it’s true. I was just really hurt. I still am, to be honest.”
“I understand,” you responded.
“I want us to move past this,” he continued, “but it still feels really fresh. I mean, I only found out about you and Tom a few days ago.”
You nodded as you listened. He was right. It had only been a handful of days even though it felt like an eternity. Being at odds with Sam was hell. He was your best friend, after all. You had lived life with him by your side for the past four years. You didn’t want to imagine what that would look like without him.
“Right.”
He cocked his head to the side, lost in thought.
“I’m sorry too,” you added, wanting to reiterate just how shitty you felt about the whole thing.
“I know,” he said softly. “I know you are. I knew you were then too. I’m sorry for invalidating your apology-”
“Don’t be!” you interrupted. “My actions and my words... they don’t add up. I would’ve thought I was bullshitting too.”
Sam forced a laugh. “Yeah, it wasn’t easy to wrap my head around. But I get it, I think. There’s just something about Tom, isn’t there?”
You snuck a glance at him but didn’t say anything. You had a feeling it was a rhetorical question.
“You must have been miserable this whole time. Trying to push down your feelings for him and then finally acting on them but being consumed by guilt when you finally do.”
“It hasn’t been the best,” you admitted, “but it’s my own fault.”
“Not entirely,” Sam reasoned.
You were surprised he was coming to your defense but you figured he’d go up to bat for anyone if it was against Tom.
“Enough of it is.”
Your best friend shrugged. “I mean, it’s not like you’re known for your decision-making skills.”
You scoffed and nudged him with your shoulder. He laughed a real laugh for the first time in days. You had missed hearing it. It made you smile too. You rested your head on his shoulder and for once it felt natural.
“I really am sorry, Sammy,” you sighed, your voice wavering.
“I know. I can’t pretend that I’m over it... but I will be. I also know that I can’t ask you to end things with him...”
“You can-”
“No,” he murmured. “I can’t. You would resent me for it.” You opened your mouth to protest but Sam shook his head and you closed it again. “You would. Maybe unconsciously, but you would. Things wouldn’t be the same.”
“Things won’t be the same if I don’t end things with him,” you pointed out.
“I know,” he agreed solemnly. Then he sighed as if it was something he had already come to terms with. “But you’ll still love me the same. And that’s enough.”
this one made me emo to write but I hope you enjoyed it lmk what you think I always appreciate feedback!!

dad!Tom on his baby boy's first day of preschool
Slipping Through My Fingers || Tom Holland
Tumblr media Tumblr media
for blurb night 🥲 extra sappy if you listen to slipping through my finger by abba or never grow up by taylor swift
“I just don’t think he needs—”
“Y/N,” Tom chastised sweetly. “He’s only going to preschool, it’s alright.”
The three of you were in the car on the way to August’s school. He had on cuffed blue jeans and a white wool sweater. His hair was all messy, most likely his doing after you’d tried to comb it down.
“Y/N, he knows that! Don’t you, bud?” Tom chuckled, looking into the rearview mirror and seeing him smile bashfully. “You’ll be fine, don’t even worry ‘bout it. Mum knows it too.”
For the remainder of the car ride, you all listened to music and Tom held your hand lovingly. August babbled about kicking the football around with dad and his snack you’d packed for him. When you pulled into the lot, you felt the tears starting to well up as you hopped out and scooped him out of his carseat. Tom grabbed his backpack, and told you to let him walk in by himself.
“Darling, he’s nearly five,” Tom told you. “Let the champ walk in on the first day.”
“Yeah, mum. I’m five!” August smiled up at you.
“Not five yet,” you said with a smirk. “You’re still my little four year old boy.”
The walk inside was less emotional than the car ride, seeing August walk proudly with his Paw Patrol backpack and Spider-Man lunchbox. Once you got to his classroom you all stood outside of the door and his teacher came out to greet you.
She was a tall, slender woman. Her dress had strawberries on it and she wore white stockings. August had met her on parent-teacher night, but she still got on his level and introduced herself again to him.
“Hi, August. I’m Miss Mabel!” She said with the biggest smile. “I am so excited to have you in my class this year.”
She shook both of your hands and started to talk about what their day would consist of, August antsy, waiting to be released into the room of fun colors and toys. He tugged on your hand, but you kept him out and listened to what the young woman had to say.
“August’s privacy is our utmost concern, we will be completely aware of any photographs taken of him inside school or outside on the playground. We know your circumstances are different, and I just want to personally affirm to you that I am going to do my absolute best as his teacher.”
“We really appreciate that—”
“Can I go in now?” August cut Tom off, making everyone laugh.
Miss Mabel gave him a nod of yes, making you let out of a shaky breath and hug him tightly. He kissed your cheek in anticipation, Tom rubbing your shoulder in support. You didn’t know, but he himself had some tears brimming at his waterline watching the embrace.
“Mummy loves you, alright?” You sniffled into his hair. “I’ll see you in a bit.”
Tom hugged his son and Miss Mabel brought him inside and bid you both farewell for now. You stood watching him go in for a few moments, along with some other parents watching their kids.
August didn’t look back.
Seeing as he is almost five.
Tom put his arm around you and you both began to walk back to the car when you heard a loud voice coming from the classroom.
“No, my dad actually is Spider-Man!”

______________________________________________________________
Rings and vows were exchanged; promises of never leaving each other again were spoken between your mother and your step dad. God knows if those promises would be kept for long, considering this is your mom’s second marriage and your step dad’s third.
Your step dad was rich wait that’s underrated. Your step dad is filthy rich. Even after diving all of his property between his three sons and now you, he still had enough money to go up and about all by himself. After the traditional wedding ceremony, all the guests were then taken for a cruise for the reception. What’s a 20 year old girl like you gonna do among 60 something years old businessmen and not to mention their wives. So you decided to go hangout with people below the deck.
As soon as you made your way down the stairs, Peter pulled you in squeaking in excitement. “Where were you? Me and ‘Vin were looking all over” he pouted. “I was upstairs, you know these parties and their formalities” you shrugged. “You mean the wedding. Our parent’s. Aren’t you happy? With Arvin, Tom and of course Me” Peter was concerned for you. He knows how much of a new family, new place, new people can get to your head and being the youngest amongst those three, he could connect.
Easing him out you said, “Especially you. I’m really happy with you guys, couldn’t be happier.”
“Oh Sis, don’t worry about the old man, you won’t see him as much, to be honest, neither do we.” Arvin stood behind you holding a glass of not-so-soft-drink. You smiled as you eased out in their comfort. Arvin was an amazing elder brother, caring, supportive and loving. After all he was supposed to take the business on so the responsibilities came to him naturally. Peter, well, obviously was a happy bouncing pumpkin. All the time, he was happy there was finally someone he could take care of.
But the middle one, Tom, was a force to reckon with.
The two brothers pulled you in through the party, in midst of the dancing figures, ugh the stench of all the perfumes mixing together could potentially kill you. So you decided to sit in front of the projector with Peter already passed out on the couch. Figured. That kid
Among the shadows, preying eyes were set on you as you unknowingly sat there innocently. Tom was looking at you hungrily. The way your eyes peeked at the adult movie playing on the screen, how to hid your eyes between your palms during an ‘inappropriate scene’. How smooth your legs were, as the lace of your skirt rested on your thighs. If adjusted, it could give a perfect view of your untouched, virgin womanhood.
As he watched you, he noticed a young man sit beside you and have a small talk just to engage conversation. While talking he slyly slipped his hand on your thighs and Tom noticed how supple your flesh was, as it sank under his fingers which merely grazed your skin. Him and only him, was allowed to experience it around his face, ears and lips as he ate you out.
“Hey Andrew” Tom spoke which startled the young man. “H-Hey Tom”
“Mr. for you, Andrew” Tom spoke coldly. Andrew gulped on the sheer dominance Tom exerted. Tom’s alpha pheromones and aura caused Andrew to trip back and hit the wall as Tom threatened.
“Listen, if I see you near Y/N, tonight or ever again, I’ll start …..peeling your skin …..from the point you touched her. Understood” Tom bent Andrew’s fingers so hard, he could hear his fingers break. Not to startle anyone, Andrew had no choice but to keep quite as he ran away from there.
Tom adjusted his tux as he returned to his seat, set his hair and looked at you again. Sitting there all innocent, blushing at the scenes. “You’re ruining me” he thought. “…and I’ll spoil you.” He continued.
During all the lunch and dinner dates your parents had before the marriage, to get the children bond, bonded too much for Tom. He would drop his cutlery often just to bend down and see your smooth legs and feel them if he was lucky. His fantasies of having bent over and pounding into you over and over again got him hard as he showered and came hard on the wall. Things you were doing to him.
It had been six months since the wedding and your family of six were living in your step dad’s mansion. But somethings had changed, Tom started visiting you often. After his shifts at the office, he would come directly in your room. But not to talk.
He would come and talk about your womanly instincts. How you felt sexually. Discussing all of this with your step brother was weird but after some time it got a little comfortable. Too comfortable.
He then installed a projector in your room, and installed some porn videos and asked you to watch them. You had never seen anything as obscene as this. Hell you never even liked anyone so you never bothered to explore and experience yourself. “Why are you doing this?” you asked Tom, who was sitting their silently, as if nothing happened. “I’m taking care of you, till you find someone, whom you love, so you could all of that with him. I’m your brother right?” he spoke while slowly walking towards you and caressing your face. The hell he was.
It had been weeks, since he was showing you those videos. One particular one of them had a girl touch herself down there. You had never tried it before so you decided to change that today. Hesitantly, as you reached to your panties, you experienced something wet and slimy. But just as you were going to get your hand out feeling disgusted, you hit a spot that got you screaming. You get touching that spot and now in a faster motion and you continued till you felt like peeing. You stopped then and took heavy breaths.
Tom stood there and saw everything. Heard everything. He stood there cupping his bulge which was so hard it was almost numb. He had to do something. So he made a choice.
That night after everyone was sleeping, he went to your room and to his surprise, he saw you, getting off to the mobile phone. You kept the vibration mode on and on your soft spot. Tom slowly walked in and saw you.
Eyes closed, mouth apart and a sheen of sweat covering your body, reflecting light from all the right places. Your boobs were swollen as you kept denying yourself an orgasm as you thought you were about to pee.
He got on his knees and found his opening as he attached his lips on your red and swollen lips. You jolted at the sudden pleasure only to be calmed down by Tom.
“Hey babygirl, big brother’s gonna help you now, let go” he said circling your sensitive pearl. “I think…I think..ahhhh I’m gonna pee” you talked half moaned. “Let go babygirl, cum on my tongue.”
You heard what he said and let yourself go, “Tom, ahhhh, Tom please” you whispered as you came on his tongue. It drove him crazy, the way you moaned his name. You were meant to be his. Even if you weren’t no one else was getting you anyways, you were his in every literal sense.
As you came down from your euphoric high, you were bought to reality with Tom’s zip being open and stroking his rick hard dick. “To-“ you tried to speak only to be mummed later. “Shhh” he placed his fingers on your lips to shut up, the sift pink flesh, he wondered how it tasted until he did. The kiss was soft and slow as he started to explore every bit of your mouth, your tongues touched and lapped with a slow and soft chaste. But to your surprise, the slow and chaste motion was broken when he pulled you towards himself, grabbed your legs and spread them wide.
“It’ll hurt, you’ll have to take me well babygirl” Tom commanded. All you could do was nod. You never felt all those things before, so wet, so supple so ready and all for him. He lubricated himself with his pre-cum, completely unbothered about protection.
He lined himself at your center, looked at you with lust filled in his eyes. “All mine”
He thrusted himself in you in one swift motion and touched that spongy soft spot inside which had you moaning so loudly he had to cover your face. He thrusted in and out of your virgin cunt which swallowed him like as if it was devoured. After hitting the spot again and again he repositioned himself as he drew you closer and had your ankles touch his lowered back. He kept massaging the soft and sensitive pearl as he kept fucking you.
It was driving you crazy, all these touches. You were moaning mess and he didn’t complain until. He hit that spot so hard this time as he got up stand so he could get deeper.
"Shh we don't want mom and dad hear your moans now do we?" he joked. He noticed fresh slick oozing out of you and smirked to himself.
"Moan louder" he commanded. He had to sprawled below with your legs apart and he stood as he fucked you into oblivion. As you approached your edge yet again so did he.
He could feel the slick covering his dick, but it wasn’t, it was blood.
Tom took your virginity just like he wanted and no one else was getting a taste, ever. You both came at the same time. He almost fell on top of you when your walls held him so hard he couldn’t move. After the strenuous episode, you were tired so you drifted off to sleep.
Tom already had so many fantasies to fulfil. With you. Only the thought of it got him hard. Again.

You were thankful for Octavia in moments like this. Moments when you didn’t want to confront your problems, so you instead chose to distract yourself with something else—or in this case, someone else—instead. As promised, you and Tom took Octavia to get ice cream on the way home, and neither of you could get enough of her babblings about her day. She giggled and waved her hands around as she excitedly and animatedly told you about the games she played and the friends she made.
“And then at snack Miss Mabel gave us goldfish, that’s my favorite,” she exclaimed with a big smile on her face.
“Really?” you nodded, “We’ll have to buy you some then.” you smiled, wiping her mouth that was getting covered in sticky chocolate.
“How many kids were in your group?” Tom asked.
“A lot,” Octavia said, “now I have so many friends like you.”
“You probably have way more than me, kiddo,” Tom chuckled, ruffling her hair.
By the time you made it back to the house, it was time to have dinner and then get Octavia to bed. All to be done with silence between you and Tom, the only words coming from either of you were whenever Octavia prompted them. Harry eyed the two of you at the dinner table and he could tell something was off. Not wanting to be in the middle of whatever spat you and Tom had going on, he quickly excused himself to his room after the dishes were all in the dishwasher.
“Come on, O,” you walked into the living room, drying your hands with a dish rag as you spoke, “it’s time for bed.” It was well past her bedtime actually, but she kept both you and Tom distracted from each other, so neither of you enforced your previous rule of ‘In bed by eight’.
“Okay,” Octavia yawned, setting her dolls into their little bed inside her dollhouse before getting up and meeting you at the stairs, “tuck me in?”
“Mhm,” you nodded, following her up the stairs. She didn’t put up a fight over bedtime (she hardly ever did) this time because she was already so tired after such an exhausting day. You were thankful for that, not thinking you’d be able to handle a tantrum right now.
When you came back downstairs, Tom was busy on his laptop, answering emails with Bob’s Burgers, your favorite show, streaming in the background. You sat on the same couch as him but kept your distance. You curled in on yourself, feeling almost awkward as you watched the show before you.
Still, even after he closed his laptop and turned the lights off, Tom didn’t say a word to you. He just watched the show in silence alongside you. You watched his every move—the furrow in his brow, the clench of his jaw—and internalized it. Even just the slight twitch of his lips, as if he was itching to say something, made you feel attacked. Finally, you couldn’t take it anymore.
“Are you mad at me?” you asked quickly.
“Yes,” Tom answered honestly, not bothering to look away from the TV.
You didn’t say anything else for the rest of the episode. There were only ten minutes left and you’d seen this one hundreds of times surely, but for some reason, it felt like it went on for eternity, especially now that you had Tom’s anger weighing on your mind.
What would you even say? You understood why Tom was upset. It was quite simple really, and part of you even knew that you were in the wrong, but the other part of you still wanted to keep fighting. Just imagining talking to Tom about your past, fearing he wouldn’t understand why you did what you did, made you sick. Eventually, after what felt like hours of excruciating silence, you said the only thing you could think of.
“I’m sorry,” you said quietly, tears in your waterline threatening to fall.
Tom sighed, finally looking at you, at how small you seemed at that moment. This was probably the most vulnerable you’ve ever been with him so far, and yet all it was was a short apology and a few tears.
“(Y/N),” Tom reached over and placed his hand on your ankle, “I still love you, I just—” he shook his head, “I just want you to be able to talk to me. If you feel like you can’t talk to me about your past, then what are we doing? You have to…” Tom sighed, “trust me.”
“I do trust you, Tom.”
“You’ve said that before,” Tom pressed his lips into a thin line, “and if it were true then we wouldn’t be at odds right now.”
You knew he was right. This hadn’t been the first time Tom’s been frustrated with your communication, it’s just been the longest he’s taken to forgive you and the harshest he’s been with his anger.
“I’m just frustrated,” Tom said, getting up from his seat. “I’m gonna go get a pillow from our room and sleep on the couch tonight.”
“No, wait,” you grabbed Tom’s wrist, “please don’t.”
“I’m really tired, (Y/N),” Tom sighed, “let’s just go to bed.”
“I don’t want to go to bed fighting.”
“We don’t always get what we want,” Tom shrugged, pulling away from you and heading for the stairs.
Tom expected you to make your way up to bed as well. You were tired after the day and the next was just as busy, as your days always were, and it was already pushing midnight. He didn’t expect to find you still in the living room with your head in your hands, crying. He seldom saw you cry. He did a couple of weeks ago, but it seemed even then that you were unaware of the strong emotions you were feeling, maybe even fighting them off like you were so attuned to. But this time, you were fully accepting it. You let the tears fall freely as you tried to wipe them away, one after the other.
When you saw Tom watching you, you looked up at him with the most pitiful looked he’d ever seen. Your brows were furrows and your mouth was set in a deep frown, bottom lip quivering. It took a few tries to find your voice and when you did, it was unsure, as if you were telling a secret, and in a way you were.
“My brother got my parents killed three weeks after I turned eighteen,” you told Tom, leaning forward on your elbows against your thighs, “and when he…” you took a breath, “when he was taken into custody for the accident, I didn’t bail him out, even though I had the money to. So he didn’t get to go to their funeral, I wouldn’t let him.”
“Darling,” Tom dropped his pillow and blanket and sat next to you. He wrapped an arm around you and let you rest in his embrace.
“I don’t like talking about it because it makes me sad,” you sniffled, “and because I feel bad about what I did. I never forgave him before he died, and I—” you cut yourself off with a sob, “I feel worse because I don’t think I do. I can’t forgive him. He took something so important from me. My mom and dad were my whole world, Tom,” you looked up at him, “I loved them so much. I never wanted to go back home even after Chet go out of jail because it just hurt too bad. It still hurts so fucking much to even talk about…”
Tom took your in his and rubbed soothing circles on the back of it with his thumb, an assurance that he was listening, “When I came to New York, I went straight from audition to audition,” you explained, “and I liked it that way. I didn’t have time to be sad, and when I was acting then I wasn’t me. I got to be someone else who was better than I am. I got to be someone who handled things better than I ever could and who didn’t let all of this family drama crush her.”
“There is no one better than you, (Y/N),” Tom took your face in his hands and wiped your tears away, “and this isn’t some petty family drama—this is serious stuff. This is the kind of stuff I want you to be able to talk about, even if it makes you sad because the only way to move past all of it is to confront it.”
You pulled away with a shake of your head, “I sound so stupid,” you sniffled, “I hate sounding so…needy and broken.”
“No, no,” Tom pressed a kiss to your head, “you don’t sound like that at all. You sound like someone who’s held it all in for too long. I love you so much, and I would never hold any of that against you.”
“Can we just go to bed?” you asked in a small voice.
Tom nodded with a hum, “Do you want me to come up with you?”
You nodded against Tom’s shoulder and let him lead you up to your room, where he held you throughout the night.
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
“So you two made up?” Emily asked as the two of you drove to set after dropping Octavia off at daycare.
“I guess,” you shrugged, “but I don’t know. I still feel really bad and I feel like I just completely trauma dumped on him last night. I hate doing that.”
“You definitely didn’t,” Emily said, “he was literally begging you to be more open. Besides, it was actually traumatic what you went through and Tom kind of has a right to know.”
“Yeah,” you sighed, “still, I just feel crummy today. Do we have time to get a coffee?”
“No, but I can drop you off and grab one,” Emily offered.
“Okay, that works,” you nodded, “also, messages? I’ve been awol for a day from my phone.”
“Right,” Emily pulled up her notes. She always kept a list of things she needed to relay back to you. “Filming ends this Friday and there’s a wrap party you and Tom already RSVPed to on Saturday night at Copacabana. There’s also a mini get-together at Lightbox that Brad is hosting, no need to RSVP, but you should probably let him know if you’re going or not. I left room for you to go if you want. I can watch Octavia that night, but not Saturday but I have a list of the babysitters that Brad recommends.”
“Okay,” you nodded, “continue.”
“Um, let’s see,” Emily scrolled through her phone, “you have a photoshoot on Sunday for Versace, their new collection of scarves, they sent you a package they also want you to post sometime this week, but I can get that done and scheduled for you. Monday you have time in the studio scheduled and then a meeting with Buzzfeed. They want to film a puppy interview with you connected to this next project. Then Tuesday you go to Cannes for the film festival. I have several designers that have reached out asking to dress you, let me know which one you want me to get back to—”
“Wait, you haven’t picked a designer yet?” you asked.
“No,” Emily looked up from her phone, “I wanted to leave it up to you.”
“Did you tell the director of the festival that I’d be attending?”
“Not yet, I figured you’d want to announce that with the designer you’d be wearing, but I did get the plane ticket already, so that’s all set up—”
“Cancel it,” you decided.
“What?”
“Cancel it. I can go next year and I went two years ago, it’s really not like I’m missing anything. Plus, it doesn't have any plus ones so I can’t take O, and I doubt she’d enjoy sitting there for hours on end anyways.”
“But—”
“What do I have scheduled for after I get back?”
“Um,” Emily scrolled further down in her notes, “let’s see. I have some meetings lined up but that’s pretty much it, then there’s some free space I’m working on getting filled, and then press begins.”
“Hm,” you thought for a moment, “how many of those meetings can be rescheduled or canceled?”
“Well, all of them I guess, but—”
“Okay, then reschedule the ones that have to be in person and change all the other ones to an email. I hate going to meetings that could’ve just been emails.”
“Okay,” Emily nodded, “but what about you? You’ll be free for the next three weeks then—”
“Exactly,” you smiled, “so then I can go to London with Tom. I’ve been dying to see his family again and they’ve been asking to meet O. It works better this way.”
You were pulling up to set as Emily began frantically tapping away at her phone, no doubt rearranging the schedule and making notes of who she needed to call to cancel and reschedule you with.
You dug into your purse for a couple of tens to hand Emily before you got out of the car. “Get me a venti caramel iced macchiato with almond milk and extra caramel drizzle, and get something for yourself too.”
“Okay,” Emily took the money before going back to her phone, “I’ll get to calling and rescheduling these for you. I’ll have the schedule done and updated by lunch.”

After last night Tom didn’t know what to think or feel. He left hours before you’d even gotten up to go for a run and clear his mind, and then the minute he got back, he hopped into the shower, avoiding any interaction with you. He and Harry were out the door as you got Octavia ready for daycare.
“I think (Y/N) is going through a lot right now,” Harrison said over the phone that was connected to the car as Tom and Harry drove to set. Harrison was Tom’s go-to for advice. Being his best mate ‘n all, Harrison always knew what to say and always only had Tom’s best interests at heart. “She’s shut down emotionally and that’s not an easy fix in someone.”
“I know,” Tom sighed, “and last night, I feel like I pushed her too far. I mean, I know I had a right to be angry and annoyed, but still, seeing her so upset—I didn’t mean to hurt her like that. I know she had some stuff that she didn’t want to talk about, but this is some next-level shit. Like, her family issues are so fucked up.”
“Well, maybe that’s actually what you two needed. That honesty time probably felt really freeing for her. Do you think she’d be interested in therapy?” Harrison suggested.
“Yeah, maybe,” Tom mumbled, “but I don’t know. I don’t even wanna bring that up right now. She’s in a fragile place and she’s stressed with work so I just don’t think that would go over well. She seemed shut down this morning. I guess she might’ve just been tired, but I can't help but feel like I did something wrong. I mean, I was really fucking mad at her, but the second I saw her crying, I didn’t really care about my own feelings anymore. Now I just feel bad for being mad in the first place.”
“Tom,” Harrison sighed, “you’re allowed to be upset with someone, even the people you love. I think that the fact that her crying made you stop caring about your own emotions kind of goes to show how much you love her, but at the same time, validate your own feelings, mate. If you two can fight about something and still love each other just the same, then that’s something real. Maybe the therapy thing is something you could both use? ”
“Couples therapy? I don’t know… I’ve heard some really shitty things about that.”
“Just an idea, mate. You never know until you try it. My aunt and uncle almost got divorced until they gave a marriage counselor a go and no they’re going on forty years of marriage this March. I don’t think I’ve ever seen either of them happier.”
“Yeah, you’re right, Haz,” Tom agreed, “It’s something to consider. I want to be with (Y/N) and I love her more than anything. I never want to see her hurt, but I need to feel loved too.”
“(Y/N) always puts on a brave face,” Harry added to the conversation, “it’s time she let her guard down. If you wanna ask her to marry you then—”
“Wait, you’re proposing?!” Harrison yelled, his voice booming through the speakers of the car, causing Harry to swerve and nearly knock out a fire hydrant.
“Fuck, div!” Tom cursed, as his hot coffee splashed onto his arm. He slapped Harry’s arm harshly.
“You didn’t tell him?” Harry asked, taking a breath to collect himself.
“No,” Tom said, “the only reason you know is because you’re a nosy fucker who found the ring.” He rolled his eyes, wiping up the hot coffee with some napkins he’d found in the glove box.
“You already have a ring?!” Harrison’s voice was heard again blasting through the car.

All you had left was reshoots. Reshoots, touchups, and then promo shots, and you were done. Eight months of work finally to an end, and satisfactory work at that. Nothing felt better than hearing the director's final cut and the applause of the crew. Well, perhaps one thing felt better.
“Tom? Can we talk?”
You hadn’t really talked to Tom at all throughout the day, which was unusual. You had seen him of course, and you had been happy to, but you were also so busy between talking with Emily, taking calls, and working on your schedule. Tom didn’t know that though, so when you came up to him, almost hesitantly, asking to talk, after the uneasiness between the two of you, he could only expect the worst.
So he said, “Do we have to?”
“What?”
“Look, if this is about us or our relationship, I’d just rather not talk about it.”
“Oh,” you looked down and rubbed your arms. Tom winced at the way you physically seemed to curl into yourself.
“No, I mean—” Tom sighed and reached out for you, only for you to pull away, only minutely, “I just don’t want to make any rash decisions right now. I know we’re in a weird place, but I think we should just give it time.”
“What do you mean?” You asked, “I—I’m not breaking up with you…”
“You’re not?”
“No, I just wanted to tell you that I canceled my trip to Cannes and all the meetings after so I could go to London with you…” you paused and bit your lip, “if you’re okay with that, I mean,” you added.
“Darling,” Tom’s voice softened as did his eyes, “of course I’m okay with that. That’s all I could ever want.” He went to hug you, but you backed away before he could wrap his arms around you. You crossed your arms over your chest and huffed, clearly annoyed.
“I can’t believe you thought I was breaking up with you.”
“Darling, I really didn’t think that—” Tom tried, but you just sighed and waved your hand in dismissal.
“It’s fine,” you said.
“No, I just mean that—I mean, yes, I was worried when you asked if we could talk, but I’ve just been in this weird place lately and things between us have been weird, and I don’t know. I just got scared. I’m sorry,” Tom took your hands in his.
“I’m just kind of annoyed that you’d think I’d be so reckless. Like, why would I end such an important relationship over some trivial fights? I feel like a lot of this is miscommunication maybe, and it’s just upsetting that you think I’d drop you over something so dumb.”
“No, I don’t think that at all,” Tom said, “really, I think you’re the most planned out, organized person I know, like when it comes to your job—”
“But not when it comes to you?”
“No,” Tom shook his head, “I didn’t mean it like that,” he sighed and rubbed his hand over his face, “can we just not make this into a fight?”
You pressed your lips into a thin line and nodded, “Yeah, that would probably be best. I have to go to my dressing room anyways,” you pointed your thumb behind you before walking away.

Octavia was just a simple, easy-going little girl. You had to hand it to Chet, as much as you hated him, he raised a perfect little angel. That was more than helpful with how the busy schedule you had her on. So when you had to pack things up and head to London, she was more than contented with helping you pick some outfits and toys for her to take.
“Remember last time we went on a plane ride?” you asked her as you held her little hand in yours in the car.
“Mhm,” she nodded, not looking up from her little stuffy, the same she’d carried around like an extension of herself since Tom got it for her.
“Remember how many people there were? That was pretty scary.”
“Yeah, I don’t like that,” Octavia said.
“So how about this time you let me hold you? Does that sound okay?”
“Can Tom hold me?” Octavia asked, looking up at you with bright eyes and a smile on her adorable little face.
She was nearly impossible to say no to. That’s the one flaw you found in this parenting thing you had going on—whenever she looked at you like you owned the world, it just made you want to give it all to her.
You playfully pouted, “you don’t want me to hold you?”
“Maybe next time,” she offered, “but you have to take turns.”
It seemed almost like Octavia was aware of her adorableness, she was always admonishing you whenever she thought you were hogging her away from the other people in your lives. She learned all about sharing and taking turns at daycare. She even recited the same motto you’d known since youth as if she were teaching you a very valuable lesson.“Sharing is caring.”
“You’re very right,” you smiled, ruffling her hair.
The airport would always be a place that gave you anxiety, especially now that you had a child to look out for. Although you and Tom walked as quickly as you could to your gate, it was impossible not to be seen or recognized. Even more so now that you had something that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
It was almost comical how obsessed your fanbase could be. Keyword: almost. There were cute little instances where people would show their love and admiration for you by making fan edits or photo collages and tagging you in them. Back when you were young and fresh-faced into the scene of showbiz, you’d attempt to respond to as many as you could, but now, there were hundreds—thousands a day—you scarcely had the time. Then, there were instances—many instances—where people took their obsession too far.
It started on Twitter—as it usually does—when the paparazzi pictures of you and Tom at the airport with Octavia were posted. Then after that, any moment that you were outside of the house with Octavia seemed to get captured, even if you never saw the person who took the picture.
It wasn’t uncommon for you to get stopped in the street and asked for pictures, but you tried not to oblige whenever you had Octavia with you. Tom, however, could never say no to a fan. So Octavia ended up on his hip for a few shots that inevitably ended up on the internet for everyone to see.
Most people thought that you and Tom had adopted. Some thought that you’d taken your relationship to the next level, eloped, and adopted a little girl. That wasn’t that crazy of a theory. Reading some of the subreddits for it even made your heart melt, considering that everyone had held you and Tom's relationship in such high regard.
Then there were a few theorists who thought that Octavia was a baby of yours that you had kept secret and hidden for years. They noticed the little features that the two of you shared, and you had to admit that Octavia and you did bear quite a resemblance, but the timeline these people came up with was too messy to be taken seriously.
Then there were the people in between—this was a popular crowd—who assumed that you and Tom had gotten a surrogate. It meshed the two theories into one that made the most sense. You had to at least give these people credit, they were persistent in their need for answers.
So far, though, nobody had actually correctly discovered how Octavia came into your custody. How could they? The story was way more complex than what everyone seemed to speculate. Everyone seemed to think she was a product of true love between you and Tom and your undying devotion to one another, but in reality, her past and yours were much darker. Nobody about ever figured it out on their own though—not with the rose-colored lenses they wear.
Now, though, you could go as far as to say that maybe you hated your fans. At least, these ones, at moments like this.
“Tom! (Y/N)!” They screamed at the airport. How could they not be embarrassed for causing such a scene, you thought.
“Could we get a picture? Please?!”
“What’s your daughter’s name? How old is she?”
“Can you sign my movie poster?! It’s in my carry-on!”
“Can we get a picture with your daughter?”
It took everything in you to not turn around and yell at everyone to leave you the hell alone. You tried to keep your image clean and keep your fans happy, but this was too much.
“Tom,” you eyed him as you made it to security, making sure he had Octavia securely in his arms. He nodded in understanding and handed her over to you while he took his shoes and belt off.
“Are you okay, pretty girl?” you asked softly, pushing her hair from her face.
“Mhm,” Octavia nodded, “but I don’t wanna be held.” She began to squirm in your arms.
“Okay,” you chuckled, “but you still have to hold my hand, kid.”
Octavia was an easily contented child, so the seven-hour plane didn’t seem to bother her much, especially when Tom got some movies going for her.
“Are you sure your parents are okay watching her?” you asked, resting your head on his shoulder. Octavia had her headphones on and her eyes glued to the screen in front of her as she sat next to you.
“They practically begged me,” Tom assured you.
“I just feel bad,” you sighed, “I feel like we kind of sprung this on them.”
“Maybe,” Tom said, “but O is the sweetest little girl, they’re going to love her. My mom’s thinking about making some cookies together and then taking her to Dock Beach.”
You and Tom decided to take an entire day and night to celebrate your anniversary, leaving Octavia in the very capable hands of his parents. It worked out well, considering Tom had told them all about Octavia and how she came into your care, his parents were surprised, but more than happy for you. They’d always wanted grandkids, and while you didn’t know how long it’d be until you were ready for kids on your own, you felt relieved knowing that Dom and Nikki would get the chance to get to know Octavia, who was much like your own daughter at this point.
“That sounds fun,” you smiled, “I think she’ll like that.”
“As for us,” Tom whispered in your ear, “I have a few surprises up my sleeve.” He pressed a soft kiss to your neck, taking his time to really savor the softness of your skin against his lips before pulling away.
“Do you now?” you hummed.
“Mhm,” Tom smirked, “we have a lot of time to make up for.”
“Ew,” Octavia covered her eyes after looking over at the two of you. She shoved her teddy bear which scarcely left her grip since she’d been gifted it, between your faces.
“You can have some too, silly girl,” you chuckled before attacking her with a barrage of kisses on her chubby little cheeks.
“(Y/N),” she giggled, scrunching her nose as she laughed. Tom couldn’t help but notice the same little tick you did whenever he tickled you.
∘₊✧──────✧₊∘
“Mom!” Sam called as he opened the door, carrying Octavia’s bags in his hand, “Tom and (Y/N) are here!”
When Octavia first met Sam, her little head tilted to the side as she looked up at him. “Harry?” she asked, confused since she swore Harry did not come on the flight with them.
“No,” Sam shook his head with a laugh, “I’m Sam.”
You bent down to Octavia’s level, crouching behind her as you explained, “Sam and Harry are twins, O. So they have the same birthday and they look very very similar.” Octavia nodded along as you spoke, “and Tom is their brother, but he doesn’t have the same birthday as them and he looks a little more different.”
“He’s tinier!” Octavia pointed out.
“Yes,” you giggled, “he is a little tinier.”
“By one inch!” Tom called from the driveway, where he was getting your bags, “and not everywhere!”
You shot Tom a look but were only met with his raised eyebrows and smirk. He always got a little cocky (no pun intended) when it came to his lack of height, but not so much so with length.
Nikki came barreling down the stairs as fast as she could before scooping you up into a hug, “(Y/N)! It’s so good to see you!” she cooed.
“Nikki,” you smiled, “I’ve missed you.”
She was much like the mother you lost, and to her, you were the daughter she never had but always wanted.
“Have you been eating enough, dear?” she pulled away and looked over your frame, “I have some leftover pork roast in the fridge I can heat up if your hungry? What about you, Tom?” she looked over at her oldest, who had Octavia’s hand in his as she hid behind his leg. “Oh, look at her,” Nikki cooed, her attention immediately averted, “she’s precious.”
Tom squeezed Octavia’s hand, “Hey, kiddo, come say hi.”
“It’s alright,” you nodded her along.
“Hi there,” Nikki crouched down, “I’m Nikki.” she held out her hand.
“You’re Tom’s mommy?” Octavia asked.
“Yes I am,” Nikki smiled, “and Sam and Harry’s too. I have another son named Paddy.”
“That’s a lot of kids. I like Tom,” Octavia nodded, giving a hand to Nikki.
Nikki laughed, “Yes, well he’s alright, but he was nowhere near as adorable as you. What’s your name?”
“O!” Octavia said with a smile.
“Octavia,” Tom explained, “but we call her O.”
“Okay, O,” Nikki took her hand, “well why don’t we go into the kitchen and get you something to eat, hm? I’m sure you’re hungry after such a long flight.” Octavia nodded and let Nikki lead her away. “Would you like something to drink, (Y/N)? I just got this amazing glass of chardonnay and I’ve been looking for an excuse to open it.”
“Sure,” you followed the two of them, “I’ll have a glass.”
“Oh, Tom,” Nikki turned back, “your dad is in his office, I don’t think he can hear much with that bloody door closed. Could you grab him?”
Tom nodded and walked off down the hall.
“So,” Nikki smiled as she poured you a glass of wine. Octavia was sitting cozily in your lap, munching away on some crisps, “how have you been? I feel like it’s been so long since I’ve last seen you.”
“Well, a lot has changed,” you chuckled, “but all for the better, right O?” Octavia nodded, mouth full of crumbs falling from her lips.
“A child as precious as her is a blessing,” Nikki smiled, “although, I am sorry to hear about your brother. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate—”
“Nikki, you’re too kind,” you shook your head, “just being here with you is enough. It’s nice to have a break every once in a while. I’m sure Tom is thrilled to be back in London.”
“I honestly didn’t think you were coming along,” Nikki said, “he told me you’d be in France.”
“I moved some things around, I really wanted to be here with you guys.”
“Are you two alright?” Nikki asked, “He seemed…well, he seemed a bit cross when I last spoke to him.”
You sighed and took a sip of your wine, “He probably was,” you admitted, “things have been really stressful lately, and I can admit, I haven’t been the most attentive to him.”
Nikki nodded along. “Well, he’s an adult. He doesn’t need attending to.”
You forced a small chuckle. “If only that were the case.”

Tom kept his hand on your thigh as he drove. He always did, even as early on as your first date. It was a comfort for both of you. You loved feeling his finger gently drawing patterns on your skin, and he loved knowing you were near as he kept his eyes on the road.
On the ride home after your first date, Tom spent nearly twenty minutes debating if he was allowed to hold your hand as he drove. He worried about coming on too strong and making you uncomfortable. Finally, he mustered up the courage to reach out for your hand, but he failed to realize that your hand was no longer over your thigh. He played it off though, giving your thigh a squeeze as if that were always his intention. You looked over at him and smiled, placing your hand over his for the rest of the ride.
“Where’re you taking me?” You asked as Tom passed the restaurant you two frequented, your first guess of where you thought he planned to spend your anniversary dinner.
“It’s a surprise, love,” Tom smiled, “don’t you like surprises?”
“I’m coming around to them,” you joked, eyeing the car seat in the back of the car.
“Do you think she’s okay?” Tom asked, “Maybe we should give them a call.”
“We’ve only been on the road for ten minutes,” you pointed out, “I’m not sure how much trouble she could get into in ten minutes.”
“I have a list of things.”
“Tom,” you laughed, “she’s with your parents, don’t you trust them?”
“I do, I do,” Tom nodded, “but also I don’t.”
“Oh God,” you rolled your eyes, taking the hand on your thigh and giving it a squeeze.
Tom ended up reserving a room in a restaurant along the River Thames. It was a gorgeous place with vines hanging from the ceiling and beautiful chandeliers lighting every room. For dinner, he had the chef prepare a four-course meal, and the only instruction he gave him was the ring to put in your dessert.
“Tom, this place is gorgeous,” you beamed up at the atmosphere of the restaurant as you sat down.
Tom smiled, “Yeah, it’s my parent's favorite. They always have their anniversaries here. They actually had their wedding reception in this room.”
“Really?”
“Mhm, and they always come back here. It’s kind of a family thing now. I think Sam wanted to be a chef here at one point.”
“He could,” you nodded, “he’s so talented.”
The waiter came by with a bottle of wine, holding it out for Tom. “Mr. Holland, this is our Joesph Phelps Napa Valley Red Blend,” he said as he poured a glass for Tom, “it’s silky with notes of fruit and flora, it also has smooth tannins and a long finish. Chef Jamie recommends it to pair with your first course and entree.”
Tom took a sip and held it in his mouth for a moment before swallowing. He nodded and motioned for the waiter to pour you a glass. “That’s lovely, thank you.”
“Of course, sir. Your first course should be out shortly.”
You took a sip of the wine and your eyes go wide. “Holy shit,” you have another sip, “that’s fucking spectacular.”
“I know!” Tom smiled, “It took everything in me not to moan.”
You laughed. “Well don’t hold back on my account.”
“I never do,” Tom chuckled.
The first course was a cheese tray, prepared specially by the chef. It had the most expensive cheeses the restaurant had to offer, as well as some imported from France, purely for the occasion.
The next course was a soup, it seemed to be some sort of lemon tortellini with dill and spinach, as well as a creamy base. “This,” you motioned down to your bowl, “is heavenly. It’s like Jesus cum—”
“What?” Tom choked on his noodle.
“You know,” you smiled, trying to hold back your laughter, “like if Jesus came, this is what it would taste like…”
Tom laughed out loud at that, happy to hear your strange sense of humor after weeks of stressful work and filming. “You can’t possibly be that drunk right now,” he laughed, “we’re only on the second course!”
“You know wine goes straight to my head,” you said as you finish off your glass. For the second course, it was a white sauv blanc. You couldn’t remember the name for the life of you, but it paired amazingly with the soup
“I can tell, darling. Your face is beet red.”
“It is?” you held a hand up to your cheek, feeling how warm your skin had gotten; it was scorching, “Oh gosh, I must look so silly right now.”
“No, no,” Tom took your hand in his, “you look absolutely gorgeous, love.”
“Stop it,” you pulled your hand away, “this restaurant is too nice to get all horny in.”
Tom gasped, “Are you accusing me of trying to seduce you?”
“No,” you shook your head, “I’m accusing you of succeeding to seduce me.”
“We should wrap up these next few courses then,” Tom suggested with a smirk, “they might be too hard to get through.”
You shook your head, attempting to fight the smile making its way onto your face.
The next course was your entree. A rack of lamb braised with a pesto-lemon sauce, over a dollop of garlic mashed potatoes.
“Oh fuck me,” you moaned after taking a bit of the lamb. It was dripping juice as it practically melted on your tongue.
“I intend to,” Tom smirked.
“Shush, I’m talking to the lamb,” you say with your mouth full, hand placed gently over your lips.
“Oi, fuck you,” Tom laughed.
“Thought you intended to?” You said with a raised brow.
“Bloody hell, I forgot what an insufferable drunk you are.”
“I am not drunk,” you gasped, feigning offense, “I don’t get drunk, I just have fun.”
“You can’t Linda Belcher your way out of this one,” Tom laughed.
“Hmph, just watch me,” you said, taking the last sip from your glass and holding it up to be filled again.
After your main course was cleared, Tom was on the edge of his seat. He’d already had three glasses of wine and was debating a fourth. He knew once the dessert came out, then there’d be no more second guessing—no more turing back or taking back his words. Once your dessert was placed in front of you, the question that had been weighing on his mind would finally be out there, staring you down.
He knew the future scared you—maybe even a little more than the past—hell, it scared him too. But he also knew that these moments were precious. Watching you relax all night, seeing your wheezing laugh again, he couldn’t help but fall in love all over again. He knew that, while the future may scare him, it would be much scarier to face without you by his side.
“Tom?” You reached out and placed a hand on his, “you okay?”
“Yeah,” Tom smiled, “I’m perfect.” He took your hand and placed a kiss on it, right on your ring finger, “I love you so much, (Y/N).”
“I love you too, Tom,” you gave his hand a squeeze, “more than anything.”
Tom could see out of the corner of his eye the waiter coming down the hall with the desserts. He played with your fingers, imagining the diamond ring he bought right on that ring finger. “(Y/N),” he said, looking up into your eyes, “you know I would do anything for you, right? I-I love you so much—I swear, I’ve never felt this way before.”
“Tom,” you smiled, “where’s all of this coming from?”
“I never want to be a part from you,” Tom said honestly, “even when we’re thousands of miles away from each other, I like knowing deep down that you’re mine.”
“Tom—” you were interrupted when your dessert was placed in front of you. You turned to the waiter with a sweet smile, completely ignoring the words written in chocolate sauce in front of you, “thank you,” you smiled brightly before he walked off.
“(Y/N),” Tom pulled your attention back—to him though, not the dessert in front of you.
“Hey, where’s yours?” You finally looked down. The hand holding Tom’s went limp as your read his question.
It was a chocolate mousse cake, your favorite dessert when made correctly, and this one looked heavenly. It was topped with a strawberry and coated in cocoa powder. The wording below, written in chocolate sauce read, “Marry me?”, simple and beautiful. The ring was placed daintily at the end of the ‘Y’, where it twisted and curled.
“(Y/N),” Tom’s eyes were filled with tears as it seemed to take forever for you to read those two simple words, “I have loved you ever since I’ve known you, and I will love you for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?”
“Tom…” you looked up at him, tears in your eyes, glistening on the edge of your lower lid, “I—I think this sobered me up.”
Tom laughed, a watery hearty chuckle, “I figured it would,” he said.
“I-I don’t know what to say,” you said, tears falling down your cheeks. “Tom, this is—”
“Too much?” Tom frowned, seeing the doubt in your eyes.
“Too soon,” you clarified, taking his hand in yours as his face fell. “Tom, I love you, and I want nothing more than to be your wife, truly. But, we’ve only just begun. I have no doubt in my mind that you’re my soulmate and that we’re meant to be, but I’m not ready to settle down just yet.”
Tom released a shaky breath and wiped his eyes before the tears could fall. “Then when?” he asked quietly.
“What?”
“When, (Y/N)?” he looked up at you with disappointment in his eyes. “Because as much as I love you, I can’t wait forever.”

When you were six and Chet was eight, there was a girl that lived three houses down from you. Her name was Tammy, she was ten.
Tammy was always bigger than you, always stronger than you, and in her words, smarter than you. The three of you would play in the cul-de-sac together, riding your bikes and chasing one another. It was no surprise when one day, Tammy declared that she loved Chet.
Despite her harassment, Chet seemed infatuated with her as well. This wasn’t to say that he didn’t tell her off, because boy, could he tell her off. He’d call her a priss and a brat whenever she’d pull your hair. He’d promise to stop playing with her if she kept it up. And over time, what used to be hatred between the two of you, became silent distaste—all to keep Chet by her side.
When high school came around, it was Tammy that introduce Chet to drugs. Whatever she could bum off her uncle was free game for them. Molly, edibles, shrooms, LSD, acid—whatever she could get her hands on, she’d offer to Chet first. Her crush never ended.
So maybe, part of you did blame Tammy for the events that took place your senior year. Maybe Tammy should’ve taken all the blame, but at the end of the day, Chet had a choice. And as much as you loved Octavia, she was a product of his choices. She was Tammy’s daughter.
When you looked at her, you would’ve never known. Nothing from Tammy came through. Not her dirty blonde hair or her split ends. Not her crooked teeth or freckles. It was all Chet. His dark hair, his brown eyes, his tan skin. It made it easy to look at her and forget her other half—the rotten half.
But as much as you try to run from the past, you can’t escape it. A lesson you and Tammy both would have to learn.
Salt Lake City, Utah. That’s where Tammy found herself. Working as a waitress at a Mom and Pop diner called Eddies. That’s where the tabloid with your face plastered on the front, along with her daughter’s, made its way into her hands.
“What’s this?” She said, recognizing you instantly. The customer at the counter flipped the page over so she could see.
“(Y/N) had a baby, I guess,” he said, “Shame though, kids are a lot of work. I hope her Victoria's Secret Christmas ad still comes out this year.”
Tammy scoffed, “Who’d wanna see that tramp on a VS ad?”
“Lots of people, myself included,” the man chuckled.
Tammy could never escape you it seemed.
When she was little, she envied you for the mere fact that you had Chet. You were the closest person to him. He defended you no matter what. Now at twenty-nine, she still wanted what you had. Money, fame, talent, recognition—you were always thrown in her face one way or another.
It was the driving force that finally separated her from Chet. Chet was working at a construction company,—a low-level job that only paid enough to keep a roof over their heads and food in their stomachs. Tammy wanted more. She wanted another chance. So she left—went to Malibu, then Cancun, then Florida. Each place she went, she blew her cash so fast that she had no other choice but to start again. And each place she went just bored her more than the last.
She studied the tabloid. She inspected your expression, coming right out of the airport with Octavia on your hip. She squinted her eyes, noticing something on the child’s neck. And there, right before her, the same one she sported on her neck, was a birthmark. A small tan spot, no bigger than a nickel.
It was then that Tammy knew how to get her recognition.
And with that, get her daughter back.

A/N: wow. so so sorry this took so long to get out. i really do love this series so much and i am extremely determined to finish it. i took a hiatus when i moved states from my hometown and now that i’m back home, i feel better than ever. i’m not sure how much you guys know about my move, but long story short, it didn’t go as planned at all. now that i’m back home, i’m focusing a lot on myself and the thing i love to do; which include writing for you guys. please please please share your thoughts and feelings on this chapter—it’s my favorite so far :)

blueberry muffin (t.h)
Tumblr media
tom holland x reader
summary: tom takes care of you when he worries about you forgetting to eat
a/n: i clearly don't know how to come up with a good fic name lmao. this is based off a situation i found myself in not that long ago (unfortunately tom wasn’t there to help me… *sigh*)
warnings: deals with important topics such as body image issues and not eating - please look after yourself if this could be triggering! ily <3 mentions of being sick (motion sickness) mentions of negative body image, forgetting to eat etc. also lots of fluff and pep talking from the boys
✧・゚: ✧・゚:✧・゚: ✧・゚:
“Love, no offence but who doesn’t like the beach?” asks Tom in disbelief, taking his eyes off the road for a moment to look over at you in the passenger side.
“You don’t like the beach?” asks a shocked Harrison from where he’s squished up in the backseat with Harry and Tuwaine. Being the girlfriend of the driver does have its perks, including a surplus of legroom in the comfort of the front seat.
“It’s not that I don’t like the beach, it’s just that I don’t always feel the need to lay around feeling completely exposed and getting sunburnt before taking a dip in this giant cold, salty bath where all the fish do their business and something will probably nibble on my feet,” you explain. “Plus, no offence but your beaches here are kinda suck.” you add, grimacing at the gasps from the outraged boys in the car with you who clearly ignored your ‘no offence’ free speech disclaimer.
“You take that back, Y/N Y/L/N,” grumbles Harry.
You shrug, flipping him the finger.
“It’s a free country, Baz.”
“Well,” says Tuwaine, always looking to mediate the situation. “In your own words from a few months ago Y/N, there are ‘precisely 3.5 days of enjoyable weather in this country’, so we are making the most of this one by going to the beach while it’s not too hot and not too cold, alright?”
Twenty minutes later, Tom notices you’ve zoned out of the boys’ conversation and rests his free hand gently on your thigh to get your attention.
“You okay love?” he asks. “You’ve gone kinda quiet.”
You swallow, not moving your eyes from staring straight ahead while you fiddle with the string of your bikini top underneath the T-shirt of Tom’s that you’d pulled on as a cover-up.
“Yeah, I’m just feeling a little carsick, is all.”
“Do you want me to pull over?” he asks, concern immediately coating his features as he glances at you.
“Woah, you’re looking kinda pale there Y/N,” adds Harrison. “If you get sick I’ll get sick. And I am very cosied up here in between these guys. Just saying.” he eyes Harry and Tuwaine threateningly who both inch away from him slightly.
“I’m fine,” you insist as Tom opens your window slightly.
“Are you sure you’re not sick?” he insists. “You never get carsick, even when you and I were giving Paddy a driving lesson and he kept stopping and starting every two seconds.”
“Did you eat something bad for dinner last night?” wonders Tuwaine.
“We all had the exact same thing for dinner last night and you cooked it, you div.” says Harry. “If it was food poisoning we’d all have it.”
“For breakfast then?” says Tuwaine, rolling his eyes at the redhead.
You shake your head.
“No, I forgot to have breakfast this morning.” you admit.
“Y/N!” groans Tom. “How many times do I have to remind you? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.”
You nod apologetically, placing your hand on top of his where it rests on your thigh.
“I know, but I was rushing around trying to get ready for the day, and then I lost my swimsuit, and then I had to help Harry find his which took around seven years because who the hell leaves their swim shorts in the bookcase? And then I was busy making my travel coffee and then you guys were all yelling that we had to go and I wasn’t going to play into the stereotype of the girl roommate who takes way longer to get ready than the guys so I just kinda…forgot.”
Tom sighs.
“I really worry about you when you forget to eat, darling.” he says. “You’ve had two coffees and no food-” he uses his free hand to pick up your travel cup of coffee from the cupholder and sighs when he feels how light it is. “-three coffees and no food! That’s not healthy.”
He suddenly pulls off of the main road and into the queue for the Starbucks drive-through.
“Tom, what are you doing?” you ask. “We’re meant to be going to the beach and it’s already like 11.30AM.”
“We aren’t going anywhere until we get you some breakfast, baby.” he says firmly, pulling up to the order kiosk.
“Hi, can I get a ham and swiss croissant, please?” he asks. “oh, and a blueberry muffin.” he adds, remembering your favourite.
“Quackson,” laughs Tuwaine and Harrison, quietly mocking Tom.
“Tom, no!” you hiss. “You don’t need to do that, I told you. I. Am. Fine!”
“Bro buy me a snack too eh?” asks Harry, leaning forwards to stick his head between the front seats. “I could use a Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino right about now.”
“Ham and swiss croissant, blueberry muffin, will that be all?” asks the worker.
Tom huffs and turns around in his seat, glaring at his brother.
“Have you had breakfast this morning?” he asks.
“Well, yeah-” sighs Harry. “But-”
Tom turns around to the front again, smiling at the worker.
“Yes that’ll be all, thanks.”
Tom hands you your food and you thank him quietly but make no move to start eating. He sighs and pulls the car into a parking space, putting it in park and turning sideways to face you.
“Darling, what is going on with you today?” he asks.
You sigh, looking down at your lap and he gently cups your chin, bringing your gaze up to him.
“It sounds so stupid,” you sigh, going pink.
“Hey, none of that.” coos Tom. “You can tell me anything.”
You swallow before answering, unable to meet his eyes.
“I just, I didn’t want to look bloated or anything in my swimsuit.” you mutter. “I know it’s a pointless thing to worry about, but I just can’t help it,”
Tom doesn’t say anything but reaches out to hold your hands in his own, gently stroking his thumbs against the back of your hands as he allows you to finish.
“I’ll be fine and then someone will recognize you, and they’ll take a picture, and I’ll not be able to see anything else for weeks and I’ll feel terrible about myself and people will ask why you’re even with me and- and-”
Tom senses you working yourself into a state and cuts you off with a gentle kiss.
“Y/N, I want you to look at me.” he says. “I mean it, look at me please.”
You shyly look across, seeing only concern and love in his dark eyes.
“I know that you maybe can’t always see it, but I need you to know how gorgeous you are.” he begins. “And if you don’t know that, I’ll always be here to tell you. You’re gorgeous, kind, funny, smart and caring. Anyone who meets you knows that, and anyone who’s gonna tell you any different isn’t worth the time of day, okay? You’re my absolute world and I need you to take care of yourself. If you won’t do it for yourself, then do it for me. And on days where you can’t, that’s why I’m here to help you, alright my love?” he says, pulling you into his chest.
“He’s right, you know,” adds Tuwaine. “You’re the hottest one in this car.”
“Hottest one in this city,” says Harrison, poking you in the arm.
“Watch it, that’s my girl you’re talking about,” says Tom, pretending to be mad.
You lean into his touch, savouring the love that radiates off of him. As you pull back and he pulls out of the parking spot and back onto the main road, you open the bag and pull out the muffin, taking a large bite and relishing the sweet taste.
“Can’t believe you’ll buy her food and not your own flesh and blood,” whines Harry, not giving up. “At least give us a munch, Y/N?”
You roll your eyes, pulling off a chunk of muffin and handing it to Harry behind you.
“Happy now?”
He nods thankfully, stuffing it into his mouth and you turn towards Tom.
“Thank you, Tommy,” you say appreciatively.
He once again takes his free hand off the steering wheel and grips yours in his own.
“Nothing to thank me for, darling. I know you’d do the same for me.”

summary -> tom holland: the name thats always floating around campus, and for good reason. he’s the captain of the hockey team, he’s good looking, and he’s always caught up in an off and on again relationship with the president of the sorority. that’s where you come in. you two had made a deal to make your exes jealous, but we all know how fake relationships end.

it was finally friday, the night of the first home hockey game. you were in the bathroom, trying desperately to curl the back of your head, but no luck.
you huffed, “mia! can you come here real quick?!”
your voice echoed, her footsteps being your sign that she heard you. she opened the door to your bedroom, walking into the small half bathroom.
“what’s up?” she met your eyes in the mirror, cracking a smile at how distressed you look.
“can you curl the back of my hair, please?”
she smiled, holding her hand out for the curling wand. she sectioned your hair, grabbing a reasonably sized chunk before wrapping it around the barrel.
“so,” she dragged the ‘o’, “you excited for tonight?”
you shrugged, “i suppose. would be nice to actually see tom play.”
“oh, i meant to ask,” she said, “but how did you two even start dating? was it the night of the party?”
you bit down on your bottom lip, “yeah, yeah. i guess we sorta kinda just clicked? i don’t really know how to explain it.”
she smiled, “i was just making sure this is something you really wanted. i mean, i know i’m one to talk, but with everything that happened with jack, i just want to make sure you’re okay.”
you smiled softly at her in the mirror, “i’m okay, i just want to move on and be happy again.”
“understandable,” she said, “what he did was so fucked up. he’s lucky i haven’t seen him yet because i will quite literally give him an ass whooping.”
you laughed, “i love you.”
she smiled back at you, “i love you, too,” she turned the curling wand off, placing it down on the sink before admiring her work, “and you’re all set, hot stuff.”
you smiled, “thanks.”
“i’m gonna go make sure sarah isn’t trying to leave the house with sweatpants on.” she said and you laughed as she made her way back down the steps.
your phone buzzed on the counter, a message popping up on your screen. you grabbed the phone, plopping down on your stomach onto the mattress.
tom dropped something off for you at your door see you soon :)
you locked your phone before running down the steps, laughing as you heard sarah’s complaining about the outfit mia suggested she wore tonight. you opened the front door, a bag sitting on the carpet in the hallway.
you grabbed it and shut the door, reading the sticky note that was plopped on top of whatever was inside the bag.
fake girlfriend or not, there’s no one else i’d want wearing my last name tonight.
the tickets are at the bottom, see you tonight :)  - tom
you pulled out the black jersey, the stitching on the back reading tom’s last name and his number. you smiled, grabbing your phone out of the back pocket of your jeans.
y/n thank you! i love it
you slipped your phone back into your pocket, jogging up the stairs. you entered sarah’s room where mia was laying on the bed, smiling contently with her efforts on getting mia to dress up a little bit. you entered the room, your eyes immediately going wide at sarah’s outfit.
“you look hot!”
“see, told you,” mia said, throwing her hands up in the air, “wear the outfit!”
she was in a black turtleneck sweater tucked into the front of her light wash jeans that quite literally fit her like a glove. she wore a pair of black booties with them, with some light makeup on (courtesy of mia).
sarah hardly ever got dressed up like this anymore, which she never really had to. she looked gorgeous either way. but ever since her and her ex boyfriend broke up, she’d lost the motivation to throw on cute outfits, just opting in on staying in sweats or pajamas all day. if there was a party, it was leggings, one of her comfort hoodies, and her beat up pair of converse that were now considered her ‘frat shoes’.
you and mia both tried to get her back to being her confident, carefree self. but, it was hard. hard for all of you, especially sarah. at the end of the day, you both just wanted her happy again.
“mia, this bra is suffocating my tits,” she said, tugging at the cups, “how the fuck do you wear this everyday?”
you both laughed, “you’ll get used to it.”
“what’s that, y/n?” mia asked, nodding towards the bag in your hand. you smiled, grabbing the material from the bag and holding it up for both the girls to see.
“no way!”
“shut the fuck up!!”
you laughed, smiling, “i know, i know.”
“that’s so cute,” mia said, sticking her bottom lip out. sarah agreed, nodding her head as she put a hand over her heart.
“finally, y/n finding someone who treats her right.”
you chuckled, fishing the tickets out of the bottom of the bag, “here’s our tickets. we should probably leave soon.”
“yes ma’am,” mia said, fakely saluting you.
sarah and you laughed, each of you departing to your own rooms to finish up getting ready and to grab your things.
                               ─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
the arena was packed for the first home game filled with a bunch of parents and college kids hoping for their team to win. tom was nice enough to get you, mia and sarah seats right near the ice.
“okay, can i just say, i love tom. i mean, look at these seats.”
you smiled over at sarah, “yeah, it was really nice of him.”
mia was looking around at the people near you, seeing if anyone else you guys knew showed up for the game. she immediately whipped her head back around to you, slapping your arm to get your attention.
“jack’s here.”
there’s that nervous pit again.
“wait, where?” sarah asked, moving to turn around in her seat. mia reached over you and grabbed her arm to stop.
“don’t look at him! he’s a couple rows up.”
great.
your phone buzzed in your pocket, you fished it out and tapped on the message notification.
tom hey, how're your seats?
y/n they’re great! other than the fact that jack is a couple rows behind me but otherwise they’re great :)
tom oh shit, i’m sorry i can have someone come get you and move you guys if you want
y/n no, no it’s okay
you bit down on your bottom lip, fingers hovering over the keyboard.
let’s just make him jealous, like we said we would
tom with pleasure.  see you after the game
y/n  good luck :)
you locked your phone, mia turning to look at you, “you okay?”
you nodded, tucking a piece of hair away from your face, “yeah, actually. i am.”
it wasn’t a complete lie. sure, seeing jack was like a sucker punch to the gut, but you decided to not let it overpower you tonight. you were here with your best friends, supporting one of the nicest, funniest, caring guys you’ve ever met.
as the night went on, you and your friends cheered on tom’s team. he scored the winning goal and the arena erupted with cheers and applause. you, mia and sarah immediately jumped out of your seats, screaming and cheering as tom shrugged off his helmet and was hugged by his team. once everyone had calmed down, he skated over to your section, holding up a heart made out of his hands. you smiled, holding up one back.
his subtle jab of rubbing it into jack’s face. smooth.
once the arena cleared out, you let mia and sarah head back in mia’s car as you waited for tom. you were waiting in the lobby, scrolling on your phone trying to pass time.
“hey,” you heard a voice and looked up to see jack, “didn’t know you liked our hockey team.”
you slipped your phone into your pocket, clearing your throat, “uh, yeah. kinda getting back into liking hockey.”
he nodded, “yeah. i mean, sleeping with the captain of the team kinda helps, doesn’t it?”
you opened your mouth to speak, but felt a hand wrap around your waist. you were immediately enveloped in the scent of tom’s cologne.
“hey, baby,” he said, leaning in and pressing a kiss to your cheek. you masked the surprise that ran through your body, smiling over at him as he looked over at jack, “sorry, didn’t catch your name, mate. you are?”
jack’s eyes narrowed on tom’s figure, “jack.”
“jack, i’m tom, nice to meet you.” he said, holding out his hand for him to shake. jack didn’t accept the handshake, but just shifted his gaze to you.
“didn’t you say jocks aren’t your type?” he asked, and eyebrow raised at you.
“funny how we both said things we didn’t mean.” you spit back. he opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted by his friends calling his name behind him. he rolled his eyes, turning around and walking towards his group.
“pleasure was all mine, mate! see you later!” tom called back after him. you let a chuckle escape your mouth as he unwrapped his arm from around you, turning to face you, “you okay?”
you nodded, “yeah. thank you.”
“that’s what i’m here for,” he smiled, “hungry? we can get something to eat before i drop you off at home?”
you nodded, “sounds good.”
he nodded towards the door, the two of you walking out towards the parking lot. he opened the passenger side door for you. you thanked him before he jogged around to his side, buckling in and starting the car before passing you his phone.
“put on whatever you want.”
you scrolled through his spotify, finding a couple songs you knew and put them on through the car speakers. he pulled into the parking lot to one of the diners in town. the two of you made your way inside before sitting in a booth across from one another.
you scanned over the menu, “what’re you going to get?”
he hummed, “don’t know. kinda going back and forth between the club and the chicken parm. what about you?”
you hummed, twisting your lips in thought, “the grilled cheese and tomato soup sounds good.”
he smiled, “does sound good.”
once the two of you ordered and got your food, you made small talk about the game.
“i don’t think jack likes me much.” tom chuckled, taking a sip of his drink.
“no, really?” you smiled, voice laced with sarcasm, “what gave it away? was it the blatant ignoring or was it something else i didn’t pick up on?”
he smiled, “not that i care about his opinion of me, but he could’ve at least shook my hand.”
you nodded in agreement, “yeah, no, he didn’t have to be such a dick about it.”
the bill came and after trying to grab it from him for about five minutes, you finally let him pay. you walked out, letting him open the car door for you, as he always does. you two were on the way back to your house, laughing and enjoying comfortable conversation.
“so, tell me,” he said, “are you really not into the jock type?”
you nodded, “yeah, i mean, guys who i’ve met who were athletes were like the stereotypical jock type. the huge ego, kinda kept their girlfriend by their side as arm candy, never really cared about the woman they were with, you know?”
he nodded, “yeah, i don’t really get how guys can do that. any guy who doesn’t worship their girl is a dick, in my opinion.”
you smiled, “are you the type of guy to worship your girl?”
“oh, yeah,” he said, “i mean, if you don’t then what’s the point, y’know?”
“i get you,” you said, “in my opinion, taylor didn’t deserve you.”
he smiled over at you, “a lot of other people would agree with you.”
who would willingly break tom’s heart? i mean, c’mon, he’s the definition of a perfect boyfriend.
no, stop thinking like that.
he pulled up in front of the house. you looked over at him, his brown eyes meeting yours.
“do you want to come inside?” you didn’t even notice the words were falling from your lips until you heard your own voice.
“sure.” he smiled, turning the car off. he followed you inside, mia and sarah sitting on the couch.
“hey,” you said, shutting the door and locking it, your eyes falling onto the tv, “what’re you guys watching?”
“the new episode of love island,” mia said, “shh.”
you looked at tom who was smiling at you. you rolled your eyes playfully, “okay, you guys have fun. we’re going upstairs.”
sarah gave you a thumbs up as the two of you climbed the stairs. you made your way to your room and shut the door. tom took a seat onto your bed, watching as you walked over to the dresser.
“i might have a pair of sweats you can change into,” you said, digging through one of the drawers, “if you want to stay.”
he smiled, “i’d love to stay.”
you smiled back at him before handing him the sweatpants, “i can uhm, find a t-shirt or something if you don’t want to sleep in your sweatshirt.”
“i’m good for now,” he smiled, taking the sweatpants into his hands, “thank you.”
you nodded, “the bathroom is over there.”
he nodded, walking into the bathroom. you quickly changed into a pair of leggings and a tanktop, sitting on the bed as he came out of the bathroom. he joined you on the bed, putting his phone on the nightstand.
“wanna watch a movie or something?”
he nodded, “yeah, anything in mind?”
you hummed as you clicked onto netflix, “i heard the new movie on netflix is good. something about a girl who’s in fake relationship or something.”
he let out a chuckle as you smiled over at him, “how fitting. maybe we could learn a thing or two.”
you clicked on the movie, the both of you getting situated on the bed. you two were mainly talking rather than paying attention. he was propped up on his elbow, facing you as you laid down on your side.
his eyes scanned your face, “oh, you have an eyelash.”
you reached up under the eye he pointed to, attempting to wipe it away.
“did i get it?”
he smiled softly, “no, here,”
he reached up gently and pinched the eyelash between his fingers. you smiled as he scanned your face again. you did the same, his face softly illuminated from the light from the tv. he looked like a dream, his curls flopped over his forehead. you didn’t realize how close the two of you had gotten until you could feel his warm breath fan your face. he reached over and moved  a piece of hair from your face.
“what’re you thinking about?” you asked softly.
“how i broke one of the rules.”
you raised an eyebrow, “which one?”
“the first one,” he said, “‘no strings attached’. i can’t help it. you’re all that’s been on my mind ever since i met you.”
you let out a shaky breath at how close he was, “i may have broken that one, too.”
he smiled, “let’s scrap the rules. i want to explore this, whatever kind of feelings we may or may not have… if that’s what you want.”
“yeah,” you said, “fuck the rules.”
he smiled wider, “is it alright if i kiss you right now?”
“please.”

You heard your professor announce as you made your way down the auditorium stairs, searching for a place to sit. You didn’t know anyone in this class, you realized as you looked around the room. Fishing out your notebook and pen from your tote bag, you sat down next to a bloke you vaguely remembered seeing before. Sending your seatmate a few quick glances, you tried to pinpoint where you’d seen him before. Another one of your classes? Maybe at a party? Then it hit you – he had been in your Introduction to literary history class your first year. You’d never talked to him before, but seeing as you had been ten minutes late to your first lecture of this history class, you were a little lost as to what your professor were talking about. So– you leaned in a little and asked him.
Sending you a look, somewhere between annoyance and pity, he pliantly whispered back, “We’re gonna be working in groups this whole semester. Every group chooses a different period of the British monarchy they’ll do all the assignments and presentations on. Look– he’s announcing the groups.” Your seatmate pointed to the screen where your professor was displaying a spread sheet, one he’d made in excel, with the names of all your classmates.
“I have chosen these groups at random and as you can see, you’ll be working in pairs.” your professor said as he struggled to enlarge his spread sheet to make it easier to read.
When he’d finally managed to enlarge his window, he continued his announcement, “Okay so… what I think we’ll do before you pick your monarchies, is that everyone should find their partner and sit together.” Squinting up at the screen you searched for your name, while around you people were gathering their things and standing from their seats.
You found your name at last, but as you read the name of your new partner, you thought your heart might have stopped. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Thomas. Your heart started beating again, but you felt a knot quickly tying itself in your stomach. You knew the Prince went to your university. And you’ve seen him around campus from time to time, where he’s always followed by his bodyguard. But you don’t have any mutual friends, and you’ve never talked to him before. You wouldn’t even know how to talk to him. And why would he ever even talk to you?
A scepticism rolled over your body like a wave, as you found his mop of brown curls, where he was seated a few rows in front of you. You were no lover of the monarchy. To be honest you wished it would be abolished. You’d always thought the monarchy was elitist, anti-democratic and nothing more than an expensive family of mascots serving no purpose. Their pompous and overly grandiose show of riches always rubbed you the wrong way.
The Prince, you saw, was looking around the auditorium, searching for you, his new partner. He was searching for a person he did not know. His eyebrows were furrowed as his eyes scanned the room. Then they met yours. His face softened as he held your gaze across the room. It was intense, but in a strange way it felt familiar. You couldn’t explain the feeling, somehow a person you’d never met before in your life, made you feel safe with just a look.
“y/n?” he mouthed, one eyebrow raised.
His question pulled you from your stupor, and you quickly nodded your head. A relieved smile spread across his lips at your confirming nod. Then he raised his hand in a short wave which ended in a finger pointing to the seat next to him. You gave him another confirming nod as you started gathering your things.
Your rebellious thoughts about the monarchy… was just that, thoughts. As much as you’d love to be a rebel, an insurrectionist, you were very much the opposite – a rule follower. Too much of a rule follower for your own good. Something your father had loved to tease you about all your life. Ever since you could remember he’d told you about “sticking it to the man”. He’d been a punk rocker in the 70s, being up to all kinds of no good in his youth. He was a family man now with a steady job, but in the core of his being; his rebellious youth had never left, and his love for punk music had lived on. So much so that your first musical memory had been watching your dad singing along to God Save the Queen by Sex Pistols in your living room. But his singing had been more like offkey and offbeat yelling, and when you’d tell him exactly that, he’d say: “That’s what punk music is”. What would he think now, you wondered, if he knew who you were partnered up with for this semester?
You made your way down the auditorium stairs as the memory faded. Your footsteps echoing to the beat of God Save the Queen now playing in your head. The closer you got to your new partner, the more you felt your stomach turn. When you reached the row where the Prince was seated, he stood from his feet and reached his hand out for you to shake. You didn’t know how to act. As much as you disliked what him and his family stood for you didn’t want to do the wrong thing, accidently offending him, and getting your partnership off on the wrong foot. But how do you greet a royal? Maybe you should curtsy? And how do you talk to him? Did you have to call him sir? Or maybe you only talked to him in the third person? With a quickening heart you reached out your clammy hand in a handshake.
“Hi, I’m y/n,” you said as you bended your knee in a short curtsy. Better to be safe than sorry, right?
“Did you just curtsy?” he asked – an eyebrow raised and a teasing smirk on his lips. You felt a heat flush your cheeks as you let go of his warm hand (it was very much not clammy).
“Uhm… yeah… sorry!” you scrunched up your nose as your eyes found your shoes. If the ground could open up and swallow you whole right now, that would have been great.
“You don’t have to be sorry! It was cute,” he said as a short chuckle left his lips. You looked up from your feet at his words. Cute?
“Oh, okay! Um… sorry,” you grimaced, “I mean not sorry. It’s just that I don’t know the right etiquette for talking to a royal… like do I call you Your Royal Highness… or sir… or Crown Prince Thomas?” you were rambling.
“You can just call me Tom! That is more than fine.” His voice was gentle and reassuring, but an amused smile tugged on his lips.
Before you had a chance to say anything more, the voice of your professor rang through your ears telling the class to settle down, and cutting you and Prince Thomas’– no, you mean: cutting you and Tom’s quick conversation short. Settling down in the seat beside him, you turned your head towards your professor.
“Okay, so now that you’ve all found your partners for this semester, you’ll all pick your monarchies! I’ve written them all down on pieces of paper and put them in this hat for you to draw. Pass the hat around, draw a piece of paper and shout out your monarchies so I can write them down!” he said as he handed the pair in the front row the hat, before he situated himself behind his laptop.
When the pair in front of you handed you the hat, you asked the Prince if he wanted to draw from the hat. “No, you go ahead.” he gestured.
Reaching your hand into the hat, you twisted your hand around, feeling around to the sound of paper rustling. When you felt like you’d found the best piece of paper, the chosen one, you quickly drew your hand back. You felt the Prince’s eyes on you as you opened the folded paper. When you read what monarchy you’d drawn from the hat, you felt your body sink like a rock tossed in water.
“Do you want me to pick another?” you whispered as you showed him the paper slip. House Holland of London was written out on the piece of paper in your professor’s neat cursive. When he looked up from the paper slip and met your eyes, a whisper left your lips, “Sorry”. You had one job, and then you drew the one monarchy he probably didn’t want to get. Embarrassing yourself in front of him seemed to be a running theme for you today.
“What monarchy did you draw?” you heard your professor ask. You could feel everybody’s eyes on the two of you. You cleared your throat, preparing yourself to ask your professor if it would be alright if you could draw another reign, but before you could say a word, the Prince beside you said:
“House Holland of London”,
“Oh!” your professor sounded surprised, “And you’re alright with that sir?” he asked.
“Yes, that shouldn’t be a problem.” Tom looked to you, a soft smile on his lips, as he answered your professor. For some reason his smile made your heartbeat quicken in your chest.
“Well, if you’re okay with it, sir– then I see no problem with it! It will be fascinating to see what you two come up with!” your professor said as he wrote down “House Holland of London” beside your names in his spread sheet.
When you’d passed the hat to the next pair, you leaned in a little closer to the Prince. “I’m so sorry! I really didn’t mean to pick your family. I was going to ask him if we could pick another reign!” you whispered to him.
“You really don’t need to apologize, y/n! It’s not your fault! You picket it at random– it’s totally fine.” He reached out his hand and patted your leg. Like he with each pat wanted to reassure you that it was okay.
When everyone in your class had chosen their monarchies, your professor handed out your first assignment: to make a family tree to present in the next class, along with a basic description of every family member. Throughout this whole semester you would get to know your chosen royal family better through assignments you would present to the class. Teaching the rest of your classmates about your royal family, while learning about others from your peers.
“So… do you want to meet up tomorrow to work on the assignment?” you asked Tom when class was dismissed.
“Yeah, sure… you let me check my schedule.”
You gathered your things while you watched him pull up his calendar up on his phone.
“Um… I have class tomorrow morning, but I can meet you around twelve o’clock. Does that work for you?” he didn’t look up from his phone.
“Yeah, that’s fine. I have to leave around three though for work. Should we meet at the campus café?” you asked as you pulled your tote bag over your shoulder.
“Yeah, that’s fine.” he said with a nod. You exchanged numbers, said your goodbye’s and see you tomorrow’s, before you both went your separate ways.

A burning tingling warmth spread throughout your fingers as your grip around your coffee cup tightened. You were waiting for the Prince, and you were nervous. There was no denying it. And you were early. Making that jittery feeling, heightened by the cup of coffee you were nursing, stronger. You’d sat down by the window. Eyes periodically glancing from the latte art (once it had been a flower (or fern?) now only random streaks of foam), to the campus square outside.
All day yesterday you’d fought a war with your own head. You knew you needed to at least become friendly with the Prince, for your partnership’s sake. But he also stood for something you were completely morally against. You didn’t wish to become close with him, but at the same time there had been something about him yesterday that drew you in. He wasn’t at all what you’d expected a royal to be. He didn’t come across as cocky or patronizing – even though he had been the most important person in that auditorium. And as embarrassed as you’d felt yesterday when you’d picked his family, he didn’t make you feel bad – he’d only been kind and reassuring.
All your life you’d never really cared to keep up with the royal family, only passively picking up information here and there. But from your very little knowledge of him – you’d never heard anything bad… and you thought he was handsome. You could be honest with yourself and admit that you were attracted to him. He was someone you could easily fall for, had he just been a normal guy. But he wasn’t a normal guy. He was the heir apparent to the throne. Destined to one day become king. He was everything but normal, and not someone you could fall for under any circumstances.
Last night, not wanting to be completely oblivious before meeting him today, you’d done some research on his family. The Queen, who has ruled for over fifty years at this point, was his maternal grandmother. A plane crash in 2006 where both his parents had been passengers, was the reason for why Tom was first in line to the throne. The passing of his parents had left him, and his three younger brothers orphaned. You remembered when it happened, even though you had still only been a child. The whole country had been in mourning for weeks on end. Seated in front of the TV you had watched the funeral, like the rest of the country. But your strongest memory of the funeral had been of Tom – of him holding his younger brothers tight in an embrace, tears streaming down his face, as they stood dutifully by their parents’ caskets. You remembered how it had made you want to cry. And how scared it had made you of losing your parents – so scared that before you’d went to bed that night, you’d hugged them extra tight, not wanting to let go.
The clinking sound of the bell hanging off the café door, pulled you from your memories. Looking in its direction you saw the Prince’s familiar face, followed by a stern looking man dressed in black from top to toe. From an earpiece a cord curled its way down his neck where it disappeared under the collar of his shirt. The Prince on the other hand was dressed more casually. Standing by the door, eyes roaming around the café, he was wearing a white shirt hidden away under a black sweater vest paired with a pair of baggy chino pants. Over his right shoulder he’d flung his backpack, resting it against his side.
When his eyes met yours, a smile spread across face. He lifted his hand in a small wave before he made his way over to where you sat by the window. A few tables away from you, the man in black stopped the Prince, making him turn to face him. The man’s stern face gave nothing away as he told the Prince something you couldn’t hear from where you sat. The Prince nodded his head before he turned around again and made his way over to your table.
“Hi, y/n! How are you? I’m sorry, but would it be okay if we sat over there instead?” he said as he pointed to a table in the back of the café. Getting up from your seat you let out a: “Yeah, sure, no problem”.
“I’m sorry– John told me we couldn’t sit here because of security reasons.” he shot you an apologetic smile.
He helped you gather your things and followed you over to the table he’d pointed to. It was tucked into a corner shielding it from the rest of the café. As you put down your coffee cup at the table, the Prince introduced you to the man in black, “Ehm… this is my bodyguard John by the way.”
“Oh, I’m y/n,” you reached out your hand in a handshake. John didn’t even look towards you as you introduced yourself. His eyes were fixated on scanning the room (and looking as mean and scary as possible, you thought). Baffled by his complete rejection, you withdrew your hand as you looked to the Prince for an explanation.
“Yeah, don’t mind him… he’s not supposed to take his eyes of the ‘potential threats’,” he made quotation marks with his fingers as he said the words ‘potential threats’, “you can just pretend he’s not here”.
Nodding your head you said, “I guess I can do that”, putting your bag down at the seat of the bench lining the back wall and corner. It would feel strange to you though, you had to admit that. Just ignoring someone’s presence all together. But there wasn’t really anything you could do about it anyway.
“I’m gonna go get a coffee before we start if that’s alright? Do you want anything? Another coffee? A muffin? A croissant?” the Prince said after a beat passed.
“Oh, no I’m alright thank you!” you said before seating yourself on the bench.
“Okay then! I’ll just be a second.” He put his backpack down on the chair in front of you, before he walked over to the counter. John a loose follow behind as he continued scanning the room and exuding his intimidating behaviour.
Taking a sip of your now almost cold coffee, you fished out your things from your bag, and placed them on the table in front of you. Your pulled out your notebook and your favourite pen, your laptop with an empty google slides opened, and a book about the modern monarchy you’d borrowed at your uni’s library earlier before you came.
You were reading over the assignment text again when the Prince sat down opposite you. The sound of a plate sliding across the table and bumping into your arm, made you look up from your computer screen. Beside your laptop, a plate with a ham and cheese croissant had appeared. Confused you looked to the Prince.
“Thank you? But you really didn’t have to get me this,”
A soft smile appeared on the Prince’s lips as he shrugged, “I know, but it’s lunch time and I wanted to eat lunch with you before we got started… get to know you a little”. He lifted his fork taking a stab at the salad in front of him. Get to know me a little?
“Yeah, of course. We’re going to be working together so much this semester– and you’re obviously gonna learn a lot about me, it’s only fair I learn a little about you”. You hadn’t realized you’d said that out loud before he’d answered your rhetorical question.
“I guess that’s fair,” you finished your cold coffee, “what do you want to know?”.
He asked about what your major was, and you told him. Then he asked about where you were from, and you told him that too. Then he asked what your favourite food and favourite colour was, which made you laugh because you suddenly felt like you were on an awkward first date, but you told him that too. From there the conversation between you flowed like a steady stream in a never-ending river. He was an attentive listener, never breaking eye contact as you launched into story after story. You told him about that time your roommate almost burned your kitchen down trying to make you dinner for your birthday last year. When you came to the part where your roommate had somehow managed to burn water, a belly laugh erupted from his body, startling poor John. John’s reaction only made him laugh more, his giggling so contagious, that you couldn’t help but laugh too.
He was a very good storyteller too. Drawing you in as you became immersed in whatever he was talking about. And he was funny, making you laugh too. Something that made the walls you’d tried to build earlier, start to break down. Getting lost in your conversation with Tom you hadn’t realized how long you’d been chatting before a notification on your phone made you look at the time.
“Fuck!” you said as you frantically started to gather your things.
“What is it?” Tom asked as he jumped up from his seat, helping you pack your things.
“I’m gonna be late for work! I should have left like half an hour ago!” you cursed yourself for not noticing how late it had gotten – but talking to Tom had made you lose track of time.
“Ehm… we didn’t even start the assignment.” Tom reminded you as he handed you your laptop.
Your hand shot up to rub your forehead. You’d completely forgotten about the assignment. The reason for why you had been here with Tom in the first place had melted away like snow under the spring sun the moment you’d started talking.
“How about we meet at the palace next time? I’m sure there’s some books there, or people that know the history of my family well that we can talk to, and help us with our assignment!” Tom proposed.
Meet at the palace? He’s inviting you to the royal palace? You didn’t have time to dwell on what he’d just asked you, so instead you just nodded your head and said, “Yeah, that sound like a good idea!”
“Does Friday work for you?”
“Yeah, that’s fine!” you nodded again. You really didn’t have time to process what he was saying right now. Whatever time he suggests, you’ll make the time work for you, you thought.
“Text me your address, and I’ll arrange for a car to come get you on Friday… You can’t really get in any other way.” he chuckled. Finally ready to go you looked up at him for the first time since you’d realized how late you were. His eyes softened under your gaze, and the way he was looking at you made you suddenly feel calmer.
“Okay!” you breathed out.
“I’ll see you on Friday then?” he asked. His eyes dancing around your face. “I’ll see you on Friday!” you confirmed with a smile.
“Okay then” he returned your smile.
A beat passed where you didn’t know what to do, but it only lasted a second before Tom surprised you by pulling you in for a goodbye hug, “Bye, y/n”. The hug didn’t last long. Not long enough for you to feel the warmth of his body, or for you to get a whiff of his cologne. But it was long enough for it to cause butterflies to flutter in your tummy at his touch.
“Don’t you need to get going?” he asked after you’d made no move to hurry out the café.
“Yeah,” you shook your head, trying to shake this burning feeling he’d lit in you, “Goodbye, Tom!
You left the café the same way you had arrived – nervous. But now your tummy was fluttering for a different reason than it had done this morning.

“You put sunscreen on, right?”
“Yes, dad.”
Sam rolled his eyes. “I’m just trying to make sure you don’t burn.”
“Worry about yourself, Casper.”
“You need to come up with a new pale joke. That one is getting old.”
“I’ll go back to the drawing board, spitball a little bit,” you muttered.
Your best friend laughed. “Let me know when you land on something.”
“Aye, aye, captain.”
“Can you get my back, though?” Sam asked.
“Sure, babe.”
You took the tube of sunblock from his hands and squeezed some into your palm. He yanked off his shirt and shoved it in his bag, turning away from you so that you could apply the sunscreen. He bent his knees a little to make it easier for you, even though he wasn’t that much taller than you.
You rubbed it in dutifully, making sure that it was all absorbed so that it wouldn’t stain his clothes when or if he put his shirt back on. When you were done, you handed the tube back to him.
“Will you do me?”
“Any day of the week,” Sam replied, winking. “You know you don’t even have to ask, babe.”
“You two are disgusting.” You didn’t have to turn around to know who was complaining.
“We’re actually having a private conversation, Harry.”
“Well, you’re having it in the middle of a public area.”
Sam rolled his eyes but didn’t say anything else, thankfully. It was too early in the morning to deal with their bickering.
You had woken up at dawn to make the drive over to Turtle Beach. According to the internet, the best time of day to see the sea turtles was in the morning, so that’s when you were going. No one was in a particularly good mood in the car on the way to the North Shore. It was silent. Dom tried turning the radio on at one point but Nikki immediately turned it off.
“We’ll be getting coffee after this,” Dom assured everyone, which seemed to lift the spirits at least a little bit.
It was already crowded when Dom found a parking spot on the side of the road. He was able to snag it as another car was pulling out.
People were clustered in groups around the rocks that lined the shore, holding their phones out to take pictures of what you assumed to be the turtles.
Tom had found a parking spot a little further away so he and Haarry joined the rest of you a few minutes later.
That’s when the sunscreen was applied and promises of caffeine were made. You waited for your sunscreen to dry before putting your coverup back on and walking down to the beach with the Hollands. You weren’t swimming at this beach, not many people did because they didn’t want to disrupt the turtles, but Nikki had made everyone put on sunblock anyway because you’d still be standing in direct sunlight.
The dropoff from the road to the sand was a bit steep and you stumbled trying to step down from the asphalt and tie the back of your coverup at the same time.
“Baby, let me,” Sam said, pushing past his brothers to get to you. He chuckled. “That could’ve been bad. You should have just asked me to help you, or waited until we got down there.”
“I would’ve been fine,” you said, brushing it off. “Probably.”
“Knowing you, you probably would’ve hit your head on a rock or something.”
You ignored that comment because he was right and you didn’t want to give him the satisfaction.
The beach was kind of short even at low tide. Some mangrove trees offered a little bit of shade but that was already being monopolized by other tourists.
“I guess everyone read the same article we read,” Harry muttered.
“Seems like it,” Dom agreed.
“Should we go over there?” Tom asked, pointing to a moderately small crowd at the edge of the bay.
“I don’t see why not,” his dad said. “We can also split up if we want to. We don’t have to stay together.”
You looked at Sam who just shrugged. “We can do whatever you want.”
“I don’t care,” you argued. “They’re your family.”
“Good point. Let’s go the other direction.”
You rolled your eyes and followed Sam left while the other four went right. He wove in between the crowds, looking for turtles that the masses might not have spotted yet. You did the same, even though you were doubtful the two of you would find anything that the other tourists hadn’t.
You were shocked at how clear the water was. After the other beaches you’d already seen on this trip, you didn’t think it was possible for clearer water to exist. The visibility was insane. You could see every tiny detail, every bump and groove of the rocks, every grain of sand. The only thing diluting the view of everything was the white foam that washed ashore with the waves when they broke.
You took your phone out of your back pocket to snap a few pictures of the water and Sam gave you a funny look.
“There aren’t any turtles here,” he said.
“I want a picture of the view,” you explained.
“Oh, that makes sense. Yeah, it’s beautiful.”
He watched you snap a few pictures and then offered to take some of you but you declined out of embarrassment.
“A bunch of people are doing it! Why would you be embarrassed?”
“I’m not good at posing for pictures! I always feel so awkward, especially when it’s just me.”
“Do you want us to take a picture together, then?”
“Yeah, I’d like that.”
Sam pulled his own phone from his pocket and ushers you over to his side. You get close to him and rest your head on his shoulder, smiling softly. He waits for a good wave to appear in the background and then takes a couple selfies.
He taps on the gallery icon in the bottom left corner of the screen to check the pictures and shows you.
“Oh, these are cute. Can you airdrop them to me later?”
“‘Course.”
Then, Sam squinted a little harder at his screen, zooming in on something.
“What is that?” he asked you, shoving the phone into your face.
“I don’t know, it’s so pixely- and your hands are shaking.”
Sam took the phone back. “Is that...”
He didn’t even finish the question before he was whipping around and marching toward the water without explaining, leaving you to stay standing where you were like an idiot or follow him aimlessly. You chose the latter.
“We found one!” he exclaims when you catch up with him, pointing at a dark mass in the water that had also been in the back of your pictures. You replicated his position to be able to see whatever it was more clearly and gasped when you realized it was a sea turtle.
It was a little further out than the ones that everyone was already ogling over which was probably why no one else had spotted it yet. Their dark shells also tended to blend in with the rocks, adding another layer of difficulty to the search.
“Should we call your family over?” you asked.
“Only if you’re cool with a bunch of other people swarming us.”
“You’re right, that might not be great. Especially if people start recognizing Tom.”
Sam nodded. “Then we’d never get out of here. I’ll go run and get them. You stay here with the turtle.”
He didn’t give you a chance to respond before he was off. Seemed to be a pattern today.
“She still here?” Sam asked when he came back, the rest of his family members in tow.
You were confused before you understood that he was referring to the turtle. Apparently, he had decided its pronouns in the time he was gone.
“Yeah, she’s a little closer too,” you answered.
You pointed at the shadow in the water and all of the Hollands craned their necks to see it.
“Holy shit, it's huge,” Harry commented.
“It must be really old,” Sam added. “That’s a thing, right? The bigger a sea turtle is, the older it is?”
His brothers shrugged. “No idea.”
“Crush from Finding Nemo was like one hundred and five and he wasn’t that big,” Tom pointed out.
“You’re going off of Finding Nemo for your marine biology information?” Sam deadpanned.
“You’re just making stuff up off the top of your head!”
“No, I heard it somewhere!”
“Does anyone have service? We could Google it,” Harry suggested.
“No, there’s none over here,” you muttered.
“Look, here she comes!” Nikki exclaimed.
You weren’t sure whether the turtle was actually coming closer or if she just wanted her sons to stop bickering, but they did and turned their attention toward the ocean.
Eventually, the sea turtle did come a little closer, close enough to be able to take pictures where people would be able to tell what they were looking at.
The six of you all standing at the edge of the water looking at the same thing was bound to draw attention eventually so you took pictures and videos until you were satisfied and then headed back to the cars.
“Tom, follow the directions I sent you to Waimea Falls,” Dom instructed. “We’re going to stop for coffee on the way over there so you should tail me but you should also have the address in case you lose us.”
Tom nodded. “Same cars?”
“We can switch it up, if you want. I’m sure Harry would love to be alone with his folks for forty-five minutes straight.”
“Wait, you said the drive was only twenty minutes,” Harry piped up.
“It is, but your mother and I could make it forty-five just for you.”
“We can all fit in my car,” Tom added, ignoring his dad.
“Wow, so I’m not good enough for you?” Harry scoffed.
“Yes, that’s exactly what I meant by that.”
“I’m good to ride with mum and dad but y/n, you should go with Harry and Tom to save them from each other.”
“You don’t want to come?” you asked, already knowing the answer.
“Nah. I mean, Tom’s right, we would all fit but it wouldn’t be that comfortable, especially for a long ride. Besides, it would be rude to leave mum and dad by themselves.”
“What are you talking about?” Harry muttered. “They love to be by themselves. Why do you think they keep ditching us at every possible opportunity?”
“It’ll be nice to have some time with Sam,” Nikki counters, taking Sam by his shoulders. “He’s been gone at uni for so long, we haven’t gotten to see him since Christmas.”
“You’ve been seeing me for over a month straight,” Sam mumbled, sounding a lot like Harry just had.
“You know what I mean,” his mom said, exasperated.
You hadn’t really thought of that. You had been so focused on being the loving, devoted girlfriend that you always made sure to be around so that everyone could bear witness to your relationship. You hadn’t considered the fact that Sam’s parents might have wanted to spend time with their son one-on-one, or two-on-one. You had unintentionally been hogging their son this whole time.
“Oh, that’s a great idea,” you agreed, just to let them know that you weren’t upset. “I’m sorry, I’ve been keeping him all to myself.”
“Nonsense, love,” Nikki assured you, “I didn’t mean it like that at all.”
“I know, I know, I just still feel bad.”
“Don’t feel bad. You’re his partner, you’re part of this family now too.”
You smiled appreciatively but couldn’t bring yourself to respond. Would you still be considered part of the family if you suddenly became Tom’s girlfriend? Broke one son’s heart and moved on to the next- it wouldn’t be a good look, that’s for sure.
“It’s settled then,” Sam said, clapping his hands together in finality. “We’ll see you guys there.”
Tom’s rental car was still parked on the side of the road, but it was down the hill a bit. It was pretty steep, and the pavement was uneven. You could feel two pairs of eyes watching you as you made your way along the path. You wanted to tell Tom and Harry that they didn’t have to be so vigilant, that you weren’t that clumsy. But to be fair, you had almost just ate shit like twenty minutes ago walking in the sand. Okay, maybe they were right for that.
You made it to the car without incident and climbed into the back seat. Tom plugged the address into his phone’s GPS, which synced to the car’s ApplePlay, and reversed out of the spot. He drove up a ways and then stopped behind Dom’s car so that he could reverse without dealing with the traffic. It was a smart move on Tom’s part. He was ensuring he wouldn’t get cut off by someone else, that way he could follow his dad without having to guess which lane he was in or which car he was in front of, etc.
As the passenger, Harry was in charge of the music (as long as Tom approved of it, since the driver did have veto power). He turned it to a local island reggae station and all three of you seemed to enjoy that.
While Tom drove, Harry showed you pictures he’d taken on his camera at Turtle Beach.
“I’ve been taking them the whole trip, but I only have so much storage on an SD card, you know? I’ve uploaded the rest to my computer. We can look at them later, if you want.”
“I’d love to! Have you looked at them yet?”
“I’ve just skimmed them,” he answered. “But if they turn out anything like these I think I’ll have a pretty solid portfolio after this trip.”
“Yeah, these are incredible! You’ll have to show Tom when we stop.” Harry made a noncommittal noise. “What? They’re great!”
“I’m glad you think so. Unfortunately, when it comes to my photography and videography, the wow factor has mostly worn off for my brothers. Even Tom, who’s supposed to be an actor, can’t pretend to be impressed anymore.”
“Harsh.”
“You’re telling me.”
“I guess they picked Starbucks,” Tom said, entirely ignoring the conversation you and Harry were having about him as he turned into the shopping center’s parking lot.
“Fine with me,” you said.
“It was probably the quickest choice,” Harry mused. “I would like to try some local coffee shops, though. Hawai’i is known for their coffee.”
“Maybe tomorrow we can look for one,” you offered.
He grinned. “I’m down.”
-
The drive-thru line wasn’t that long, thankfully. Tom ordered for the three of you all on the same ticket to speed things along too. He pretended not to hear you when you offered to pay for yourself.
Dom waited for your car in a parking spot by the exit to the main road. Tom did what he’d done before and waited for his dad to pull out before following him.
“Make sure to drink all of that before we get to the park,” Tom said as he passed out the cups. “I don’t think we’re allowed to bring outside food or drink inside. Yo, I didn’t mean you had to chug it right now,” he clarified.
You pulled your iced coffee away from your lips guiltily. “Sorry.”
“The drive is like twenty minutes, remember? You have time to finish it.”
“I remember.”
“So then why-”
“I don’t know, it felt like the right thing to do.”
“You’ve been in uni for too long,” he decided, shaking his head.
“Maybe she just needs the caffeine to hit faster,” Harry suggested defensively.
“Exactly, thank you, Harry.”
He gave you a smile of acknowledgment in the rearview mirror and a thumbs up. You sipped your coffee slowly as Tom drove through the winding mountains of Oahu, resting your forehead against the window. You knew there’d be sunscreen residue to clean off of it later but the cool glass felt nice against your skin.
You tuned Tom and Harry out until you heard your name. That’s when you sat up again and
“Hm?”
“Tom just asked what I think Sam is talking about with our parents right now and I said they’re probably giving him a lecture about not losing you,” Harry explained.
You made a face. “What?”
“You know, like telling him he better treat you well or whatever parents say to their kids when they want a son or daughter-in-law.”
Your eyes shifted to Tom before you could stop them. His grip on the steering wheel tightens just enough to make his knuckles turn white but he keeps his expression calm.
“Oh, I don’t know about that,” you mumbled.
“I bet they’ll at least bring it up,” Harry countered. “They love you!”
Not for long.

Summary:
Pairing: Bartender!Tom Holland x Reader
You want a relationship and Tom wants to find his “one person.” The want to not be lonely left you both going on a string of bad dates. And you both had your usual spots you would go to sulk about it but, as a coincidence would have it, your spots are closed on the same night leading you both to same exact diner. And as another coincidence would have it, your server serves you each other’s meals, leading the two of you to meet.
Not a soulmate AU but inspired but the red string of fate theory.
Warnings: Angst, fluff, mentions of getting cheated on previously, alcohol use, there’s blood in like one chapter (I can’t help it)
A/N: I said I thought about this fic for over a year and here we are lmao decided to finally write it. I haven’t been this excited or happy with a series since Forever so I hope you guys enjoy it as much I do!!

I don’t know Tom personally nor I own him. What’s written is just fiction and should be thought of as such. I’m essentially using him as a nameclaim and faceclaim. I’m creating a character and just using his name and features for details. I do not directly associate Tom with any ideas used in my writing. It’s used for entertainment and fictional purposes only. I do not directly associate the actions, activities, or emotions with Tom himself. He is being used here as a character should be thought of such.

♛ LOVELORN ⇁ main character profiles.
synopsis ⇢ loving your best friend is the biggest cliché there is, even more so when he’s already in a relationship with your other best friend. you can’t deny that peter and cindy just make sense together, on more levels than your non-radioactive-spider-bitten self can ever be with him. for two years, you’ve appeased yourself as peter’s roommate and confidante, but the strings that hold your lovelorn predicament are getting frailer. perhaps the introduction of a twisted millionaire’s son into the equation is what will finally make them snap.
↳ college au, roommates au, geometric love figures
genre ⇢ major angst, humour, smut (18+ only)
note ⇢ updates on fridays at 6pm est.

for your blurb night can we get a teasing reader calling tom a moviestar? like, she is just looking at him doing something super mundane and she can't help but notice that he has this glow, this spark about him that makes it impossible for her (or anyone for that matter) to look at anywhere else
My Love || Tom Holland

for blurb night :) this blurb just has the atmosphere of matilda off harry’s house
The way he strummed the guitar, it was like a comfort to you. It warmed your heart and hit you in all the right places, legs intertwined together. He had pink cheeks and fluttering lashes, you leaned onto his arm and felt like this was one of those moments you’d think back to often no matter what, no matter how minuscule.
Tom peered over at you, smirking cheekily and sticking his tongue out. It was perfect, he was so perfect. Together two years, you knew you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him. You wanted the whole thing—the white dress, the long hard days, the sticky fingered babies, the growing old. You wanted it all, with Tom.
He had a sort of glow about him, so handsome and so sweet all at once. You placed yourself on his knees, guitar between the two of you. He set it aside and let you lean in to kiss him chastely, cupping his jaw and leaning in to rest your head on his chest.
“You’re affectionate, darling,” he chuckled, rubbing your back and kissing your head. “I love it.”
“I love you, Tommy,” you murmured into his shirt, giggling a bit. “My movie star.”
You felt him smile into your hair, holding each other tight and savoring the embrace. The sun was setting, both of you having had a lazy day together. This felt like the perfect end to it. Tessa laying at the foot of the bed, both of you in each other’s arms.
“You’re my favorite person,” you told him sweetly.
“What’s all this for, my love?” He grinned. “You’re very touchy tonight.”
Kissing him again and again, you didn’t say anything. Only ran a hand through his curls and kissed his cheeks, sighing into his chest and closing your eyes.
