On May 28, 2000, a grave of a single unknown Canadian soldier was exhumed and brought across seas from France to Ottawa, and was re-interred in a gravesite in the shadow of Canada’s National War Memorial. The original gravesite of the soldier now bares an empty grave, but the headstone has been replaced with one that reads where the soldier now lies.
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I had the chance to see the changing of the guard while visiting my grandparents. My grandpa was a chief master sergeant, my grandma was an army WAC.
We walked around the circle at the base of the Arc de Triomphe, surrounded by the chaos of traffic and the sound of automobile horns. There were inscriptions in the ground underneath the vault of the arch marking the location of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Paying our respects, we happened upon the evening ceremony of the lighting of the torch. This observance of one soldier, buried here…
I come here to watch the sunrise. Odd that it should feel so comfortable here... yet am I not a warrior in the endless battle between heaven and hell, bound by ageless orders to my mission? There is much that even I cannot understand or see, most of all my own fate and whether I shall ever see ease.

watched a video about the guards at the tomb of the unknown soldier and after it showed some videos of the guards warning people for crossing the rails or being disruptive im like. why would you try to be a karen and try to go towards a tomb guarded by people authorized to use lethal force to protect it. i feel like even the most final boss level of entitled karen would be smart enough to not do that but i just saw video proof that people are stupid.
