Hot take: Yuri and Yaoi Twitter x Tumblr art are the same universe.

Fem-Tumblr and Masc-Tumblr are older and younger siblings who lived together for years, and share everything, while Fem-Twitter and Masc-Twitter are identical twins (Masc-Twitter is trans).

Fem-Tumblr represents the soft side of tumblr. The cottagecore, art, SFW fandom side.

Masc-Tumblr represents the harder side of tumblr. The angry activist, hot political takes, NSFW fandom side. (Obviously there’s overlap between both, if you piss off Fem-Tumblr enough she can and will beat a bitch at a protest, and Masc-Tumblr has a soft side too)

Meanwhile the Masc and Fem Twitter represent the same sides of Twitter.

The two Fem’s dated each other for a LONG time but broke up because Fem-Twitter and her brother got too political.

Meanwhile the two Masc’s were also dating around the same time. They’d gotten married at one point, but that ended in just a MESSY divorce. Masc-Tumblr got the fandoms while Masc-Twitter got the celebrities.

Fem-Tumblr and Masc-Twitter were still friends who passed fandom content and memes between them, while Masc-Tumblr could only really share his political arguments with Fem-Twitter because Fem-Tumblr didn’t want to hear it, and he wasn’t talking to Masc-Twitter.

Things weren’t really good, but they weren’t really bad, until the Twitter siblings got into a bad place. Masc-Twitter got into a REALLY bad deal with an abusive rich guy to sell off his building, but unfortunately the deal went ugly. The rich guy paid too much for it, and tried to back out of the deal, crapping on Twitter’s building to lower the price. But Masc-Twitter was too deep in and he couldn’t back out so he forced him to buy it. The rich guy promptly started tearing up the entire building trying to change it so it’ll make him back his money, making it borderline unlivable.

Masc-Twitter was the one who really pushed the deal, Fem-Twitter really wasn’t into it, but she also didn’t really expect it to go this bad, this fast. Eventually both Twins decide that they might need to reach out to the Tumblr siblings and stay at their place, but they realize they need to make up with their respective exes.

Fem-Twitter at least has something to fall back on, Fem-Tumblr is somewhat okay with letting her back into her life, as long as she leaves her branded advertising gear at the door. They’re platonic for now, but the spark is starting to come back now that they’re in the same house.

Masc-Twitter meanwhile burned his bridges with Masc-Tumblr. He tries to come back and apologize, to at least make up enough for his sister’s sake, but it’s been too damn long. Masc-Tumblr used to tolerate his presence as a friend of his sister, but Masc-Twitter coming back into his life fully is like rubbing sandpaper over an old wound, and he’s vindictive.

Masc-Tumblr is the one who’s firing guns in the air trying to scare off Masc-Twitter (and the rich asshole he shacked up with), which does kinda work, and Masc-Twitter is trying to convince his twin to stay somewhere else than the tumblr household. But Fem-Twitter is already in the building and knows Masc-Tumblr is just trying to scare him and keeps trying to convince Masc-Twitter to at least move nearby, like with the nice Mastadon boy down the street.

The final fate of Masc-Twitter remains to be seen…

hello tomblr :3 I wrote a thing! You can find it here on the Squidge archive—you’ll need to make an account, but it’s super quick and easy, plus it uses the open-source code for AO3 so the interface will probably be familiar :3 it’s gen Matt & Tom and pure fluff, they’re just hanging out. (I’m trying to get a handle on their character voices, lol)

here’s a quick excerpt…

Matt does his little grin, then—the one that doesn’t reach his eyes, the one he does when he’s content. “I was wooondering,” he says, tucking his chin into his neck momentarily to look at Tom through the camera, “if you wanted to have a Late Breakfast.” He over-pronounces the last two words in the manner of someone who dearly wishes not to say ‘brunch’.

Tom is a little surprised, but mostly pleased. They haven’t spent much time together lately, and it’s a good excuse to get out of the house. “Yeah, sure! In the city?”

“Yeah,” Matt says, a happy little sound. He smiles now, wider, still not to his eyes. “In a park, maybe. We can feed the ducks.”

Matt doesn’t care either way about the ducks, but he knows that Tom does. Tom grins, exhaling a bit through his nose without meaning to, feeling warm. “Sure. Yeah, that sounds good.”
