Okay, so 'X actually lives' AUs are not my thing (I'd rather see equal consequences to counterbalance the 'happy ending'), and this is especially true for Molly because Kingsley and Cad are both great, BUT-

During my M9 rewatch, when Fjord, Jester and Yasha are taken, Lorenzo is pleased that they hauled, and I quote, 'Two divine bloods and one half-beast'. Fjord is clearly the half-beast, and Yasha's obviously an aasimar, but that Jester is lumped with her as a divine blood caught my interest.

So tieflings are valuable, then.

I know literally the next line states that their cages are at capacity, but... Lorenzo could have hauled Molly's unconscious body into a cage if 'divine bloods' are that good a find. If a teenage aasimar could fetch 10k gold apiece in the Fire Plane (C1e75), I do wonder if it'd be more worth his while to haul away this prize. (Ofc aasimar prices could be inflated in that marketplace! But even 2k would be nothing to sniff at!)

As much as it pains my lil heart, because she IS my favorite... Beau is right there. A dirt-common human, and probably just as good an example to make Keg get the message.

Has anyone done this? It feels like such an easy shift for canon divergence that then opens up a huge door full of possibilities.

(Just consider the domino effect this would have. M9's disposition towards people/problems likely remain prickly, reduce the likelihood of them teaming up/trusting a lot of people down the linr. Maybe the extra bodies means someone is offloaded and sold earlier, not to be found in the Iron Shepherds' dungeons. What impact would Cad not being there to heal/rez at key moments have? How would Fjord's arc be deviated without his guidance? And Beau's, if she lives, without the impact Molly's death had on her? Aeor and Lucien would, of course, be completely different! Just! Think about it!)

playing Astarion's romance and rewatching Vanitas has given me so many vampire writing thoughts--

#important question. in a vampire situation would caleb or molly let the other drink their blood-- #it makes me so soft to think about relationships with astar that begin with you trusting him enough to take that step almost immediately #but also. theres just something very compelling to me about the iconic vnc scene where noe nearly begs and. as close as they are. #vanitas looks him in the eye and says if he tries to drink his blood he'll kill him--(the fact that he's saying it for noes sake too #that it seems to be something he truly has no control over. that they're both at risk of lashing out and hurting the other if they're #not careful--) #anyway-- #thinking about how so much of molly's power is tied to blood. how in the orders it was a common practice for lucien and the rest of #the blood hunters to mix their blood together and drink it. the way lucien gives cree a necklace with his blood in it #that she considers sacred-- #lucien would drink caleb's blood no problem he was already doing that with the tombtakers. no vampirism required-- #but I think in something like a vampire situation molly would be more hesitant. more worried about losing control---especially if he #associates all those powers and that hunger with lucien-- #I think caleb would probably. try to make deals with people for some of their blood. would probably be starving a lot of the time and #molly would happily help him-- #in the reverse. I feel like caleb would probably refuse to let anyone drink his blood. as a matter of holding onto his autonomy-- #anyway!! blood hunter orders are very fun I feel like they lend themselves well to these kinds of AUs since they're already #so thematically similar to vampires-- #this is just silly self indulgent ramblings I just think vampires are fun

i know i’m constantly chewing drywall over shadowgast and it is because there’s so much to drive me insane there and i’m extremely fond of them and their batshit fire/mirror dynamic but if i even Think about essek’s induction to the mighty nein or his feelings toward and friendship with them i will lose my fucking mind

#thought about beau’s ‘fuck. i like him’ and yasha talking to him about loneliness and penance and him deferring to fjord when the tombtakers #showed up and veth working alongside him and caleb in his little wizard laboratory and also the veth essek anxiety drinking and the obvious #relief when caduceus enters a room and the way that caleb gave essek what molly gave him. mollymauk changed essek just as much as any of the #nein and does he even know it? #and of COURSE there’s the EVERYTHING about the insane wizard romance. but then i’ve saved jester for last because truly TRULY essek was only #ever able to become who he was by the end of the campaign because of her #essek thelyss is an interesting character for me for a number of reasons but maybe most of all because he’s sort of emblematic of who the #mighty nein are and how they interact with the world #practically every guest on c2 talks about how meeting this party of assholes changed their character decidedly for the better and yeah that #REALLY is who they are as a group #and it’s most obvious in jester and mollymauk #those two catalyzed positive change in the party itself throughout the course of the entire campaign. we don’t have a mighty nein without #them. but that becomes a key trait of the group as a whole #i like them a completely normal amount i promise #critical role #essek thelyss
