Sabito woke suddenly, furiously blinking and taking in the scene of his blankets where he'd kicked them off in his sleep. He pressed his face further into the bed with a weary sigh, harshly rubbing at his eye struggling to hold back tears. It was still dark, he had saw the clock read 2am- Third night in a row..

The echo of pleasant conversation and warm laughter, companionship simply lost to time and circumstance. He curled up pressing his face and holding onto a pillow, trying to breathe normally.

The other two had been fast-paced and heart wretching- a mad dash through a sea of people he doesnt care about, desperately trying to reach the small smile and lovely presence of a friend long gone to him.. Legs not responding how they're supposed to. Scrabbling at the floor to go a fraction of a moment faster. A faceless nobody had tried to stop him, tried to distract him from the back getting further and further away from him. It shattered his heart every further step apart, he punched them and shoved past in blind dread- but no matter how hard he pushed, through the countless people filling the path between them, the feeling of trying to run underwater, the crushing feeling of failure and regret, he'd never reach them again. It was a hopeless effort. He woke up in the middle of the night, unable to shake the horrible ache the dream left him with the rest of the day.

This one was.. soft.

He was injured, some cut he couldnt feel in his abdomen. He was being treated for it, but free to walk around after someone had wrapped some bandages around him. He found his way to a main area, tall stairs leading up to nowhere he cared, he followed the people going past it to the large cafeteria. He got in line for a simple meal, not knowing what to do besides follow the guy in front of him who had started talking to him- he didnt find his company anything besides neutral until he started messing with his food. He quickly lost his appetite and slammed his violated baked potato into the fucker's face, chosing to wander through the tables for more pleasant company, someone who'd just leave him alone even.

He saw a table, someone he recognized but didnt really know, and the world stopped when he approached. Just a few seats over. Him. Right there. Open seat across, just for him. He sat, deep blue eyes looking up at him in surprise, quickly melting to glee- he smiled brightly as they caught up. They both went by different names now, they had seperated before he really understood what that meant- choosing his own new name, Giyuu. He had introduced his own, his heart soared as it rolled off his tounge as if it was the only one he knew, Sabito. Giyuu had an adorable pet bird, feathers as glossy black as his own hair- it was a wild crow, an old one that loved his affections and easy snacks over the constant fight to find food in the wild. It gently nipped at his fingers before letting him pet its head, Giyuu beamed. The time flew by, walking back to the main area still talking about what all they've been up to, testing the waters with his touchy nature cuddling up against him at every chance. Giyuu only smiled and encouraged it, lifting his arm for Sabito to bury under. Eventually he had to leave for whatever reason, they waved goodbye and he went back to his bed in recovery- no time had passed and he was right back there the next day. Giyuu waiting for him with someone, their friend Ozaki not recognizing him at first. When she did she excitedly invited him to visit sometime before she had to hurry along, leaving him and Giyuu to get food together. Another lost friend, Murata, excitedly waving them down to sit with him, "I've been waiting for you! How's it been, man?" He was so happy, a warm buzz in his heart, the world he saw so bright and colorful. He locked onto Giyuu's small smile as he teased him, "So, are you waiting for me to let you smother me?" Sabito laughed at his light tone and brushed up against his side, an arm curling around his shoulder and assuring thats where he belonged.

He didn't notice when it stopped, the fuzzy transition to the waking world. A slow tune playing in the back of his mind, the only clear lyrics repeating as he woke, "I like you.... Say it back."

He laid there processing his sad reality, an idiot with no friends, no hobbies, nothing to look forward to, having dreams dragging the past to the present. Impossible dream of reviving childhood friendships he lost contact with years ago. The warmth in his heart had gone cold when he woke, now pouring down his face as he choked on the crushing feeling that encased his entire being. The cold of the night buried deep in his bones, clutching onto the little warmth between him and his pillow as if it was his only tether to life. Times like this let the darkest parts of his brain claw their way to the front, Why am I holding on so tightly? What have I really got to live for anymore. Pleasant dreams that give me everything I want but will never ever have when I wake? He sobbed and stared emptily through the blurry view, the pain digging so deep in his chest. He wanted that warmth again, needed it, the dreamy brightness and feeling of sunbeams soaking into his skin, warming him from the inside out. The brief respite from the crushing cold and lonliness only served to highlight it. He ached, everything shaking uncontrollably in this stupid fit-

He jumped at the little trill, the recently adopted stray rarely made noise. He propped up a bit and harshly scrubbed at his eyes with the sleeve of his hoodie, stopping when he felt a paw gently prod at his hand, he blinked at the deep blue eyes staring into his own. He fought back a new wave of tears at the familiarity, stupid fucking dream. He leaned back to look at his cat, sitting on the nightstand still holding its paw up and looking at him with its big eyes. He halfheartedly sniffled and grunted, "So-orry bud, did I wake you up?"

Nagi smoothly stood and hopped the little gap between the stand and his bed, not breaking eye contact as it slowly waddled across to stand right next to his face. He carefully reached up and held his hand next to its head, the cat quickly bumping against and rubbing against his palm, then leaning down to lick at his wet face. He closed his eyes and gently pet through its thick black fur and mumbled to himself, "You'd be the only one who'd miss me, huh?"

The cat stopped licking his face and looked at him with ears flicked back, "Even if, you'd find someone else who loved you... I'm not that special.."

Nagi fluffed up, thick fur pointing along its back, Sabito blinked at the outline in the dark and startled when the cat yowled right in his face. He closed his eyes and turned his head when it started smacking his face, shocked at the sudden change in personality as it then started rubbing full body against any part of him it could reach, purring like a motor. He teared up again and buried his face in its side, clutching onto the pillow below with one hand and gently holding his cat with the other.

He shook as his cat shared its fluffy warmth with him, purring loud enough to drown out any other thought, tail curled around his neck and licking at his forehead in the middle of the night

I am positively convinced that Giyuu is the best Water Breathing user among Urokodaki's students and the rightful owner of the Water Pillar title. The only reason most people think Sabito would've been the Water Pillar had he lived, is because that's what Giyuu himself has made us believe.

But there are a bunch of undeniable facts. Giyuu became the Water Pillar at a young age. He held the position for several years, even as he saw others rise and fall. He created Dead Calm, the eleventh form, a new form for one of the first Breathings, the one beside Flame Breathing that always had a standing Pillar, and the one with most users (by that I mean, it probably preserved it numbers at tenth forms for centuries).

I do think Sabito was stronger and Makomo was more agile, but Giyuu combined both skills with balance, and performed Water Breathing with an elegant technique, so much that Akaza praised his fighting style. Even though Tanjiro was the one who cut Akaza's head, Giyuu sustained a big part of that battle, and survived. He got the Mark. He fought against Muzan. He was the only one of the Pillars who could still stand after they defeated Muzan and tried to fight Demon!Tanjiro. Without his dominant hand.

Giyuu sells himself short, and we buy it. But i wholeheartedly believe that he really is the best Water Pillar of all times.

And your intuition was correct. After you broke him down with your endless flirting, he started to bite back. In his own special way, of course. It starts with:

au: life was kinder to them (sabito, tsutako and kanae don't die)

Both Shinobu's and Tomioka's personalities changed a lot after their loved ones' deaths, so if that never happened, I think they would act quite different (on top of having different haori). They would also both still become as strong as hashiras but don't achieve the rank due to already having nine hashira.

Sabito would become the water hashira instead as he improves faster than Tomioka so reaches the level first. I can't imagine Tomioka with a different breath style as he was so well suited to water breathing that he managed to create an eleventh form. For Tomioka to achieve the promotion to hashira, they would need to have multiple water pillars, unless Sabito uses a different breath style (I've seen people use ice for him which I think fits really well). This doesn't solve the numbers issue, though.

Tomioka would instead simply not get promoted but be informally known to be as capable as a hashira by those who go on missions with him. I think this could work well as it would lead to his canon self esteem issues as he thinks of himself as lesser than the others because he is literally not of their rank (rather than thinking lesser of himself because of how final selection went). I figure he and Sabito argue about this but make minimal progress. Tsutako doesn't know he feels this way because she and Tomioka don't talk about demon slaying things at all. She disaproves of his choice to join in the first place and wishes he picked up a "normal life" like her (who is happily married to her fiance) but doesn't stop him.

Meanwhile, Shinobu would become Kanae's tsuguko when Kanae is promoted. As Shinbou isn't a hashira, she would be on fewer missions and have more time at the butterfly manshion so she could focus more on poison production. I think she would develop a larger variety of weapons. For example, inspired after meeting Genya, she could make poison filled bullets or other projectiles that give her long range attacks. Maybe she would create long term attacks too but I'm not sure how yet. She would also train Kanao and other demon slayers in poisons. This means that there can be many poison users in the corps which enables lower ranked slayers to defeat stronger demons. This makes her really valuable despite not being a hashira.

With no reason to hide her emotions behind a smile, Shinobu is loud about thinking the "nine hashira only" rule is stupid. It's gotten her on the bad side of a couple of the existing hashiras (Uzui, Sanemi, Iguro), who consider this an insult to Ubuyahsiki. On the other hand, this makes Sabito respect her a lot. He also hates the rule and wants Tomioka to be promoted.

Shinobu and Tomioka would probably first meet in the butterfly mansion when Tomioka gets injured. They also interact quite a lot through mutual friends, such as waiting for a hashira meeting to finish. This sort-of-but-not-really-hashira thing would be something they have in common. There's rumours in the corps about both of them. Tomioka has no idea. Shinobu knows this and thinks it's hilarious.

Tomioka is still very introverted but doesn't avoid others like in canon. I think he would respond to Shinobu's teasing, even if only to complain, so they would become good friends over time (but won't admit it).

You were not used to such energetic and noisy company and you were also not used to talking that much either. The missions you had with your master Tomioka were always filled with silence, but not the uncomfortable kind. You both liked and shared the opinion that it didn't need many words to keep each other company. Nonetheless, those few hours with the Flame Pillar had left their mark on you. The panic you were feeling towards him turned into confusion - confusion about how persistent he was towards you. A normal person would have given up after 2 days, but he came every day, for weeks. You yourself would not have done that and accordingly, his behavior had made an impression on you. If he wasn't just-

Your thoughts were interrupted by your Kasugai crow, Shimizu. "Caww! You're thinking about him right now, aren't you?" She sat on your shoulder as you walked on. Of course she accompanied you everywhere.

You chuckled. Shimizu knew you very well. "Who do you think I'm thinking of right now?"

"About Rengoku."

You paused for a moment. "Yes." You didn’t deny her the true answer. Why should you? Shimizu knew nearly everything about you.

"Kaname speaks highly only of his master."

Ah, Kaname, his crow. So that was it.

"He seems like a good person and mentor, maybe you shouldn't distance yourself from him like that. You could learn something from him. Might get stronger even if he uses Flame Breathing."

You fell into silence again. Shimizu was not wrong. Kyojuro Rengoku was undoubtedly a very strong fighter but… you both were not compatible. Neither your fighting style nor your personalities matched each other. You were fundamentally different. Flame Breathing featured extremely powerful singular strikes which 'burn' their opponent. Even at the thought of fire and burning, you shuddered. Water breathing was different. It depended on the flow, flexibility and adaptability of the user. Your body must be fluid in each motion as you imitate water and that was what fit you and your body. "Fire and water would never come together." You sounded final and didn't want to comment any more to this topic.

Your crow noticed this and flew off again to look out and show you the way. Several hours of walking passed before you felt a presence. It was so faintl that you were forced to sharpen your senses, your hand on your nichirin sword. You stopped and listened until you felt the presence again, this time you were sure it was that of a demon. No, wait. Not only one but several, and they were all coming towards you.

Concentration.

Water breathing... Third Form: Flowing Dance.

With a purpose in your mind, you angled your blade and swung in a winding motion, dancing along with your body in a flowing pattern, slicing every single demon in your path until you decapitated the demon who was the furthest from you. You looked back to see all the demons you sliced on your way, crumbling away until nothing was left. With a sharp swing, you removed the blood in one motion from your blade to sheathe it. That was easy, you thought. Were these demons just very weak or did you get stronger?

You couldn't tell as your thoughts were interrupted and you quickly turned around only to realize that those demons were just a distraction for a bigger and stronger one. Damn! You reacted too late, the demon was already too close to dodge his attack, when suddenly another blade was unsheathed, and another slayer stood in front of you to face the demon.

Eyes widening, you realized it could only be Tomioka with his mismatched haori. The last person you would have expected, but you were still grateful - you were aware that your brief inattention could have cost you your life. The Hashira made short work of him as you watched in silence and admiration. He was truly someone worthy of the title of the Water Pillar because nobody moved so fluidly like water as he did. You were not even close to his skill, you realized sadly.

"You must not become oblivious to your surroundings just because you think you killed all. There is always a high probability that more will appear." A lecturing tone and it felt like before. As if you were still his student. But you weren't and your thoughts grew bitter.

Your gaze followed him and there was so much you wanted to say to him. So many things hurt you about his previous behavior that you just wanted to throw at his head, but you said nothing. Like you always did. Tomioka's gaze lingered on you longer than usual, as if he saw the rush of emotion behind your eyes and was just waiting for you to say something, but you didn’t, and a barely audible sigh escaped his lips as he looked into the distance. Was he hoping for you to...? Asking him was no option and knowing how your former master was like, you knew you will never get an answer since he was too of the taciturn sort.

His gaze was still directed into the distance when he spoke again. "Get your blade ready. There are more demons here that are terrorizing the nearby village. Too strong for the Mizunotos they sent here first." With these words he walked away, and you followed him in silence.

You didn't talk and it felt like back then, only it wasn't like it used to be. Not Pillar and Tsuguko anymore, but no equals either. Not even remotely if you considered what a stupid mistake you had made earlier.

Several minutes passed in silence until he suddenly stopped. You almost collided with his back. He was paying attention to the surroundings, and you did the same. As if by reflex, you both drew your blue swords and performed the same water breathing form simultaneously. Like a well-rehearsed team, you beheaded the demons that came your way. Back-to-back, covering each other's blind spot.

The fight was difficult and made you both sweat, but you two were able to fight them demons until all were decapitated. Your breathing styles complementing each other perfectly. Breathing heavily, you looked up at the sky only to realize that it was already morning. You let out a relieved sigh. You were exhausted and your whole body hurt. Especially your belly. You looked down and saw your uniform slowly getting soaked with blood.

"You should let Kocho have a look on that. Or at least one of the Kakushis."

You hadn't even noticed that the demon had hit you on the stomach and that you lost more blood than you thought. Shit. The adrenaline from the fight sank and you felt the stabbing pain in your belly. Shit, shit, shit, shit... You fell onto one knee and tried to hold your balance with one hand while putting pressure with the other. Tomioka was at your side faster than you could blink and tried to help you up.

"No!" You immediately calmed your breath. "J-Just give me time to focus my breathing and then I will be fine..."

He looked at you with an unreadable look "Your wound is worse than you think. At least let a Kakushi treat you before you bleed to death in front of me."

You heard his words, understood them. He was right, but... getting treatment meant that you need to undress. Undressing meant... "No, I'll be fine."

He had troubles to understand your stubbornness. "If you are not aware what state your body is in, then you shouldn't be fighting at all."

And there it was again. Those scathing words and normally you would have kept silent about them but this time you didn't and it was not because of the immense pain. "I... I know I can't fight anymore. I just don't want to be treated by a Kakushi. I'm taking care of myself."

His azure eyes widened a miniscule amount, and it seemed like he finally understood why you were stubborn in your stance. He just needed to look back to when you both trained. Never had you ever shown your skin. Not even when it was unbearably warm. "Stop the bleeding with your focused breathing before you bleed to death here. I'll see what I can find for you."

You were grateful that he didn't push this topic any further and did what he commanded after giving him a nod. The Kakushis had now arrived and were rushing towards you but not without a bow. Ah. They probably did it because they thought you were still his Tsuguko. "I'm not his Ts-"

"Give me one of your first-aid kits. There are other Slayers who are more seriously wounded. I'll take care of my Tsuguko."

Your eyes widened at his words as you did not expect something coming like this from him. Did he say my Tsuguko? Did that mean he took you back as his Tsuguko? Hope took root in you as you watched him silently talking to the Kakushi and taking the first-aid bag.

"Can you walk?"

"Huh?" You were so deep in thought and in your focused breathing that you hadn't even noticed that he was standing in front of you again. You took a careful step, tested your balance and then nodded to him. There was no need to be carried by him, not that you had problems with touching people, but you tried to avoid it as much as possible if it wasn't about training. You were too uncomfortable with what was hidden under your uniform.

You walked in slow steps behind him, deeper into the forest until you couldn't hear the Kakushis anymore. He made sure that you both were alone.

"Here, please take care of your wounds before it gets worse."

He gave you the first-aid bag. You glanced up to him while you took it from him. "Why are you doing this? I'm not your Tsuguko anymore."

He was silent for a while and looked into the distance. "I want to apologize for my behavior. We all have our baggage to carry and apparently, you have your secrets and fears just like everyone else. I should have respected that and asked Rengoku-san not to disturb our training."

Your mouth stood open while you stared at him. You could not believe what you just heard. That was the first time he spoke so much and was he really apologizing to you?

He saw your incredulous look. "What?"

"N-Nothing... I would never have thought I’d hear an apology from you but thank you."

"I... am not too proud to apologize to someone..." He looked a bit hurt while saying that and you immediately regretted your own words. "You should look after your wound, but I would still let Kocho have a look at it if I were you, since we don't know if the demon used any poisons."

You nodded and waited for him to go, but he simply took a few steps and turned away. Why was he not leaving? "Tomioka-sama...?"

"I won't look, but I will stay close in case you need help."

That didn't calm you down at all. You wanted to be alone, but the tone in his words didn't allow any protest and you had to take care of that wound as soon as possible. You hesitantly put your haori away, undid the buttons of your uniform and noticed just how much blood you had actually lost. Your uniform and the binding over your chest were all sticky and covered with half-dried blood. You decided against taking off your uniform fully - you wanted at least your arms covered, and in an emergency, you still would be able to hide your front. You hoped it was not too bad and you were able to handle it on your own. It was not like you never stitched up yourself and a wound on the stomach was easier than on the arm. These hopes were immediately dashed when you looked down.

Shit.

The wound was gaping, and you were actually able to see a yellow layer of fat underneath the open skin. How did you not notice this in the fight? How were your organs not spilling out? It seems that your constant tension made sure everything stayed in place. Thankful for that and the first aid-kit you got everything what you needed. Needle, thread, disinfectant, gauze bandages and whatever else was inside and you took what you need. At least you tried. Your fingers were shaking too much from the blood loss and everything slipped from your hands. Another try, another desperate attempt, but you were not able to pull the thread through the needle eyelet. Shit, why was there not a stapler here? On your third try you saw dots in front of your eyes, trying to blink them away. Shit, shit, shit... You broke out in sweat. Not only because of your pain, but more of your inability and the consequences of that. A feeling of helplessness spread through you and your hands were shaking more than ever. Barely able to keep anything in your hand when suddenly calloused hands clasped yours.

You looked up, startled. Tears you didn't even notice before blurred your sight. He took everything what you had in your hand and made you lie down on the grass. Tomioka didn't judge. Neither with his gaze nor his words. He stitched you up quietly with the knowledge he had been taught by the Insect Pillar while you lay crying on your back trying to regulate your breathing, unaware that Giyuu Tomioka was seeing your disfigured body even though his gaze was only trained on your abdominal wound.

"Am I hurting you?"

You shook your head; the tears didn't stop. "N-No..."

"Then why are you crying?"

"Aren’t I hideous...?"

He stopped his movements to look at you. He looked at you closely after all this time you'd spent together training. Noticing every detail of your face. You suddenly seemed so young with this question, like a lost little girl who looked for some kind of validation even if only 1 year separated the two of you. "No, you are not."

"But all those scars-"

He sewed up the wound further while talking. "Scars are what define us as Slayers. You shouldn't be ashamed of them since they made you the person who you are."

"But what if I hate myself?"

Giyuu knew exactly what you were talking about. He hated nothing more than himself for surviving, for standing here all weak and being called a Hashira while Sabito and Tsutako were no longer in this world.

"Hating yourself only gets you so far, be proud that you survived." Words that he said didn't come from him, but rather from a person who hadn't left his mind recently. He should take her words to his heart, but everything took its time. Maybe, just maybe they could help you with your grief and trauma.

His words didn't make you stop crying, on the contrary, they brought back memories from your past. You thought about your father who always called you koi fish lovingly and how the fire consumed them all, burned them into the ashes. The tears didn't stop even when Tomioka had finished stitching your wound and bandaged it with a clean gauze bandage, or when he carried you to the Butterfly Mansion himself. The flood of your tears only stopped when you finally closed your eyes for good and dreamed of a river and a flame-haired man.

I know some were angry and confused about Giyuu's behaviour in the past chapters, but this is him in my eyes. A man who is not really good with words. Who is easily misunderstood, but knows what to do and to say in the right place and time (I love this man).

"Tomioka-san, oi oi, Tomioka-san!" Shinobu attempted to catch the water hashira's attention.

All day, Kocho had been trying to catch Tomioka's attention, but with every large attempt she did, the more it failed, it was starting to out her on edge quite the bit. Giyuu was one hundred percent aware of this, but just acted as if nothing had been happening at all, shooing her away like an insect.

As Giyuu had went out for a mission, she had went to her fellow accomplices, seeking for any chance of an answer. As expected, Sanemi and Iguro didn't give two craps about him, whilst Rengoku and Mitsuri were out training most of the day, Uzui was caught up in a mission himself and Gyomei and Muichiro had been helping Genya train. What possibly could be keeping him so on edge? Either way, she was going to get her answer today, whether he liked it or not. Meanwhile, she had patient's to help, especially a certain Bluenette, Blonde and Red head, hoo boy.

After the long day, Tomioka had came into her mansion to get some small injuries treated, they weren't much, but still, the fact that he'd been hurt by a small demon made her think even more that something was on his mind.

"My my, Tomioka-san, how did you get these injuries over a simple mission, hm?"

No answer.

"This is why you've got no friend's, Tomioka-san."

Again, not a answer, nor a single glance.

Shinobu's smile quickly faded, spinning the water breathing user to look her in the eye, "Tomioka-san, I'm worried for you, this isn't like you." Hopefully that got to him, and it eventually did. His bland expression lightened up a bit as he gazed into her eye's, his gorgeous, ocean blue.. what was she thinking? Snap out of it Shinobu!

With a small shake of her head, Shinobu waited for Giyuu to invite her to sit beside her. He quickly caught on and patted beside him, her smile quickly coming back into place as she sat beside him.

"You can talk to me, Tomioka-san, I'll always be here to listen." She assured, humming happily when he nodded slightly. Eventually, he opened up, explaining how he didn't deserve to be with such strong, kind people such as herself.

Oh my, how couldn't she have noticed sooner? His endless amount of survivors guilt had pent him up so much, that it eventually got the best of him, now she understood why he'd never associate himself with any if the other's.

"Tomioka-san.. it's difficult, I understand that, but.. if they were here right now, I can assure you that they'd be so proud of you. I mean, look at you, most people can't be as- are you okay?" She asked. Whilst she was talking, she had placed her left hand against his left side and rubbed him, offering him reassurance, she didn't expect this type of reaction.

"Tomio-"

"Shinobu, no."

"Oh Tomioka-"

"Don't." His once slumped over torso now stood straight, his hands grabbing her wrist, yet not even tugged them even the slightest away.

"My my, I think I know how to cheer you up, Tomioka-san~" Teased the insect Hashira, her smile only widdening when she saw the usually pale white face of his brightening a cute shade of red. Her once rubbing her now latched onto his side and with each twitch of her fingertips, so did Giyuu's body, quiver.

"K-Kocho-"

"Glad we're getting closer, Tomioka-san! Maybe we could become friend's!" She played, surprised to hear her usually stoic companion whine from such a innocent tease. Ohohoh, now this was fun.

"What's wrong, Tomioka-san? Can't handle a few tickles? That's unfortunate, I thought you'd have some resilience in you." She playfully tsked and shook her head, making him arch away when her over hand came into play. "K-Kohoch- Kocho, nohoho! Pl-Please dohon't!" He melted even more as she awed at him, her hands lowering as she squeezed at his hip's, making him immediately turn to his side, laying on the bed as his right arm covered his face.

"No no, we can't have you do that, Giyuu, this is only getting started!" She exclaimed with excitement, now squeezing his hips with vigor, making the once silent hashira go into a giggle fit. As her thumbs accidentally found the divets of his hips, it only made him buck and arch, luckily for Shinobu, she wasn't ontop of him, kudos to her for sitting beside him whilst he was laughinh his head off. "Ahahah, S-Shihinobu! Plehease! S-Sto-NAHAH!" Howled Tomioka, throwing his head back as her left hand squeezed at his thigh, "Oh? Is this a bad spot, Tomioka-san?~" He didn't even have to say, the both of them already knew the answer to this answer.

"N-No-"

"It was a rhetorical question, Giyuu, I don't expect you to understand tha- what is that?" She asked, making Tomioka immediately look, "What do you- NOHO!" He kicked and squirmed, "Oh no, it's a tickle bug! Don't worry, Tomioka-san, I'll save you!" She playfully retorted, treating him like a child. As the tickling pursued, she took a glace to see if she needed to stop.

His once long hair came undone, becoming messier, his once blank expression was filled with childish glee, along with his ears, nose and cheeks dusted a bright red, his fists clamped onto his haori and the sheets of the bed weakly, trying to keep some of hispride intact, oh how she dreamed she had done this sooner.

As she listened to his breathing become more frantic, she had stopped, her hands resting against his own.

"So, how was that, hm?" She teased, not expecting an answer, before hearing him muffle something under his breath. She drummed her right hands fingertips into his armpit to make him curl, "I couldn't hear you, Tomioka-san, speak up please." Smiled the insect Hashira, only for her heart to swell with pure love for him over his word's.

"I said I lohohove y-you." He exclaimed breathlessly, hiding part of his face into the cover of his haori. "I love you too." Shinobu kissed the back of his hand, making his impossibly red face grow even redder, "Okay, now rest up, those injuries should heal in a few days." She patted his stomach, oh how they'd do this again.

KNYAU Masterlist

Just a list of my KNY AU's and what to expect. This is technically a rehash of my first post, but I thought this would be an improvement from the extremely basic descriptions of that post. Plus, I have more AU's to share.

Sunlit Blossoms|Kamado Sibling Role Swap (🌸): Your standard Kamado role swap with Demon Tanjirou and Demon Slayer Nezuko. Instead of Tomioka, the siblings are found by Rengoku, and it leads to a cascade of butterfly effects.

Sunflowers and Thundering Fireworks|Ship Swap (💕): I need a better name for this because it is not strictly ships being swapped, but the main characters are swapped with their ship counterparts. Nezuko and Tanjirou are the tsugukos of Tengen and the Kochou sisters respectively, and Kanao is a Demon Slayer trying to turn her demonic adopted brother(Zenitsu) back into a human. Other characters are moved around as I pleased, not really based on ships.

Mirrored Sunset|Full Reverse AU (🔄): Nezuko and Tanjirou are switched, as are the demons and Slayers along with their leaders. Except Inosuke. He's still human, he just isn't allowed to fight. Hashira are Upper Moons, and vice versa. Michikatsu is a four hundred something criminally underpaid dad cursed to never die until the King of Demons(Ubuyashiki Kagaya in this AU) is dead, as punishment for what he did as a demon.

Tsugikuni-Kamado Swap (🌙): Tanjirou and Nezuko (along with a few others) are born in the Sengoku Era and the two siblings are among the first Breath Users. Meanwhile, Yoriichi and Michikatsu (plus others) are born in the Taisho Era, with one twin turned into a demon whilst the other becomes a Slayer to turn his brother back into a human. This AU has two versions:

Moon Princess, Chosen Sunlight: Tanjirou is the original Sun Breather, and Nezuko becomes Upper Moon One. Zenitsu is also the original Thunder Breather in this version.

Ashen Moonlight, Sun Goddess: Nezuko is the original Sun Breather, and Tanjirou becomes Upper Moon One. Zenitsu is dead, and Kanao is wondering where her husband went on his last mission.

Moonlit Butterfly|Kochou-Kamado Swap (🦋): Nezuko and Tanjirou are both Demon Slayer's, with Tanjirou being the (late) Sun Hashira, and Nezuko being the Flower Hashira. Meanwhile, Kanae is trying to return Shinobu to her human self after their family was slaughtered by a demon. Also, Sabito and Makomo are alive in this AU thanks to Tanjirou and Nezuko being at Final Selection.

Scattered Emders and Broken Hearts|Age/Fate Swap (🔥): This one came from TikTok. The Rengoku family took in Mitsuri when she ran away from home due to her being ostracized for her strength and appetite. Not long after, a demon attacks, leaving Mitsuri and Kyojurou the only survivors, the former becoming a demon. The Kamaboko Squad are Hashira, and most of the Hashira are rank and file Slayers with a few others being swapped out with important people in their lives who either died or took a different path in life.

Burning Ribbons|Shabana-Kamado Swap (🎀): Ume leaves work one day to discover that Gyutaro has been turned into a demon. She seeks out a cure, and one of her adversaries is the deadly Upper Moon Six duo. A pair of siblings Ume can't help but compare herself and her own brother to. There are some other swaps (i.e. I made Tengen's wives Hashira while Tengen is their Shinobi husband).

Miyuri Koarashi (❄️): my Demon Slayer OC, the Snow Hashira. I made her a few months ago, and I am still workshopping ideas a little.
