What am I actually trying to discuss here? I mean, I mentioned two completely different musicians and I attempted to unite them in their propensity for singles, which resulted in the lack of cohesive albums. Well, you can admit there is something there and I can also include Frank Sinatra among the two, since he has a similar issue, though his LPs are not the problem, they're quite coherent. However, they are not really known. For instance – how many have listened the entire collection of song the tune on the link is on? Yes, Sinatra is experienced more through his tunes than the discs these pieces are on. To be honest, this occurs with many of his peers, i.e. they are much more understood through their biggest hits than their whole long plays.

Michael Nesmith pictured with engineer Hank Cicalo during sessions for The Wichita Train Whistle Sings, which were held the weekend of the 18th and 19th of November, 1967. The sessions employed some of the top players in L.A. at the time, among them Hal Blaine, Tommy Tedesco, James Burton, Doug Dillard, Don Randi, Frank Capp, Earl Palmer, and future musical collaborator Red Rhodes. This date marks Rhodes and Nesmith’s first time recording in the studio together.
The recordings consisted of big band arrangements of songs that Michael had written for the Monkees, a collaboration with arranger Shorty Rogers. Originally, the output of the sessions were not slated for commercial release, but eventually were released by Dot Records in July 1968 as The Wichita Train Whistle Sings. The album was not commercially successful, peaking at number 144 on the Billboard Pop Albums Chart.
“...I recorded it with my own money. It cost fifty or sixty thousand dollars, a stupid sum of money. The album was not only to put together a different picture of the tunes I’d written for the Monkees and give them vent in my own way, rather than have them so highly manipulated, but also to have a record that would document the coalescence of the finest session men in L.A. at the time.” - Interview with John Tobler and Pete Frame, Zigzag Magazine, 1974.
“Everybody wanted to be on the session... Finally I asked Michael why he had called for such a costly session. He explained that Uncle Sam was about to remove 50 grand from his pocket and, instead of paying the taxes, he decided to spend it on a racuous write-off. The Nesmith dates came off without a hitch. It was the greatest party I’ve ever been invited to. Two days of Chasen’s food, and more music than you can expect in a lifetime." - Hal Blaine, Hal Blaine and the Wrecking Crew, 1990.
“Wichita Train Whistle isn’t a roaring success, someone pointed out to me the other day. My exact words were something to the effect of “too bad.” People think I can’t take setbacks for some reason. Well, that’s not the case...I like recording music that I know is not commercial. It’s my thing. It’s catharic for me and often times it’s what I get out of it that counts in the long run.” - Tiger Beat, November 1968.

Yeah, yeah we like it

Yeah, yeah we like it
Now everyone is beautiful from north to south
The only ugly things are what come out our mouths
Peace, love and fun is what it’s all about
‘Cause I know what ya want and I know you’re gonna like it
Improve your life, husband or wife
Until you're bored or dead and done
Promise you cash, your own fat stash
You know we print it by the ton

'Cause I know what you want and I know your gonna like it
Yeah, yeah we like it
Yeah, yeah we like it…

All The Proposed & All The Accepted Ship Names I've Been Able To Find (DPA)
Guide/Intro:
Ship names made up by me will be in red, all the rest will be in black. Ship names made by @savebatsfromscratch will be in blue.
I found most of these on the Pokemon Shipping List "Neverending Romance" here: https://forums.bulbagarden.net/index.php?threads/neverending-romance-the-shipping-list-revival.273465/
...But since the forums might get deleted soon I decided to make this insane list. I'm not joking this took me hours trying to find everything.
Characters not from/in DPA will have their fandom abbreviation along with their name. Some have two if two versions of the character could reasonably go in the ship, specifically if the Pokemon Anime form of the character makes the most sense but it could also be the games character.
PKSP = Pokemon Special/Pokemon Adventures
Pokeani = Pokemon Anime
ReBURST = Pokemon ReBURST
PKMN 7 = Pokemon 7
PKMN = Pokemon Games or just generally the character, no specific forms.
Please note that a lot of these ships are crack ships and I couldn't find any real fan-content of them.
Also fair warning for age gap, debatably incest, and human x pokemon ships! There aren't a ton of them, but I wasn't going to cut them out just because they might not be typical, happy ships.
Main Five x Main Five:
Mitsumi x Jun - LakeAcuityShipping
Mitsumi x Hareta - DumbLuckShipping
Mitsumi x Koya - GreenishSubstituteShipping (Based on the logic that Mitsumi is a substitute for Dawn or Platinum and Koya ends up substituting for Jun. Also, their hair colors combined would be greenish.)
Mitsumi x B2 - GalacticAdventureShipping
Jun x Hareta - AbsurdlyClingyshipping (A mix between Lucas x Barry, Clingyshippy, and Diamond x Pearl, Absurdistshipping.)
Jun x Koya - FirstAndSecondShipping (They are the first and second rivals of Hareta's shown in the series.)
Jun x B2 - FlatCheeksShipping (She didn't explain this one but I assume it's because B2 is known for his butt and Jun's is... flat.)
Hareta x Koya - YuujouShipping
Hareta x B2 - ButtiesShipping
Koya x B2 - OpposingBehindShipping (They have opposing ideologies and the classic butt joke for B2 was needed.)
Mitsumi x Jun x Hareta x Koya - DPAdventureShipping (All four of the main protagonists.)
Mitsumi x Jun x Hareta - DialgaShipping
Jun x Hareta x Koya - BoysTimesThreeShipping (The 3 male protagonists in DPA.)
There's a ton more under the cut.
Main Five x Other (Some Pretty Obscure):
Mitsumi x Cyrus - Desertionshipping
Mitsumi x Jupiter - GalacticGirlShipping
Mitsumi x Cynthia - RealContenderShipping
Mitsumi x Mars - SquealShipping

Jun x Mars - DPAGalacticBombShipping (Based on the ship name "galacticbombshipping" for Barry and Mars.)
Koya x Looker - InterpolShipping
B2 x Fantina - DerriereShipping
B2 x Cyrus - IntergalacticShipping
B2 x Gardenia - RearEndShipping

Carole-Kaye-the-most-prolific-bass-guitarist-of-all-time
Carol Kaye was not only a pioneer in the male-dominated world of pop recording sessions, but she also broke down musical barriers, playing on a multitude of records and TV and movie scoring dates of almost every kind. The West Coast-based freelance musician reportedly played on over 10,000 recording sessions, and her mind-boggling long discography would seem to bare that out. Born in Everett, WA, Kaye's parents, Clyde and Dot Smith, were professional musicians. In 1949, she began playing bebop jazz guitar in bands in dozens of nightclubs around Los Angeles while giving guitar lessons. She shared the bandstand with Jack Sheldon, Teddy Edwards, Billy Higgins, and Bob Neal. By chance in 1957, Kaye got into studio work, playing guitar on Sam Cooke's "Summertime" and "What a Wonderful World," among others.
In 1963, when a bassist failed to show for a record date at Capitol Records, Kaye picked up the electric Fender bass. Her skill on the instrument put her on the A list of record companies, movie and TV score producers (the wacky "Hikky Burrrrr" single, the theme of The Bill Cosby Show of the late '60s), commercial jingle writers, and industrial films. She worked with Michel LeGrand, Quincy Jones (Ironside), Jerry Goldsmith (Escape From the Planet of the Apes), Elmer Bernstein, Lalo Schifrin (Mission Impossible), Jerry Fuller, Phil Spector (the Shirelles, the Righteous Brothers, the Ronettes, the Crystals, the Paris Sisters, the Blossoms), David Rose, David Grusin, Ernie Freeman, Hugo Montenegro, Leonard Rosenman, John Williams (Lost in Space), Alfred & Lionel Newman (M.A.S.H., both the movie and TV series), and Barry De Vorzon and Perry Botkin (Bless the Beasts and the Children). Kaye shared the recording studio/stage with a various who's who of top '60s/'70s session players: Glen Campbell, Tommy Tedesco, Billy Strange, Hal Blaine, Larry Knechtel, and Joe Osborn, among others. Kaye's discography is exhaustive, a creation of her almost seven-days-a-week/on-call-24-hours-a-day schedule. A schedule she maintained for many years, through her own love of music and the tight-knit camaraderie of those involved.
Some of the other artists Kaye played with are the Beach Boys, Glen Campbell, Ray Charles, Herb Alpert, Joe Cocker, Elvis Presley, Lou Rawls, the Righteous Brothers, Simon and Garfunkel, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra, Sonny and Cher, Barbara Streisand, Dean Martin, and Roger Miller. Her former students include Toto member/Nashville producer David Hungate, Monty Budwig, Max Bennett, Abe Luboff, and TV composer Alf Clausen (The Simpsons, Moonlighting). She earned accolades from such music heavyweights as Sting, Steve Bailey, Nathan East, Abraham Laboriel, Jack Casady, Robert Trujillo, Jaco Pastorius, and Hampton Hawes. In 1969, Kaye created the first of over 27 bass tutoring books and instructional videos, How to Play the Electric Bass. The veteran bassist has conducted many music seminars all over the U.S.A. and taught classes at the Henry Mancini Institute at U.C.L.A.

Round 2
THE SEA EAGLE
NO MONKEY BUSINESS!!!
Tumblr media
Round 2
Manly Sea Eagles      21
Defeated
Sydney Roosters    14
Tumblr media
The Sea Eagle made a rare live appearance at this game and witnessed first hand a very solid Manly victory against a very flat looking Roosters outfit.
In front of a sell-out home crowd Manly opened the scoring after 5 minutes when unheralded rake, Lachlan Croker capitalised on an error from Teddy Tedesco to cross.
Despite Manly looking sharp, especially down the left edge, the Roosters hit back within minutes when lanky winger Daniel Tupou sliced through some pretty ordinary Manly defence.
Manly extended their lead when livewire centre Tolutau “Pepsi” Koula crossed following some excellent lead up work from new recruit (and former Tigers whipping boy), Luke Brooks. Following on from his impressive Manly debut in Vegas, Brooks had a very strong game and could well be the missing link Manly have been looking for. He has already formed a sharp combo with Cherry Baby and he certainly adds an extra dimension in attack that has been sorely missing in recent years.
Whilst Manly were dominating the play they struggled to convert their opportunities, and again following some pretty soft defence, allowed the Roosters back into the contest. Only a late penalty goal saw Manly retain the lead and they went in 12-10 at oranges.
Returning from the break, Manly hit the ground running and it was again some smart play from Luke Brooks who set up his former Tigers teammate Tommy Talou to score in his Manly debut. Time will tell whether to Manly can transform these ex-Tigers into genuine first-graders, but early signs are promising.
Tumblr media
Manly were dominating all facets of the game, with barnstorming back rower Haumole Olakau’atu running roughshod. Unfortunately, Manly could not convert this dominance into points, and against the run of play Dom Young took and intercept to run the length of the field to score and to set up a nail-biting finish.
Thankfully Manly were able to settle and eventually ran out well deserved 21-14 win, a scoreline that in the Sea Eagles opinion flattered the Roosters and did not reflect Manlys dominance.
After two rounds Manly are 2-0, a position they have not found themselves in many years. Next week, it’s the despised Eels away at Combank. This is another winnable game, but Manly will need to capitalise on their opportunities more and show a greater level of patience with the ball.
‘I’ve been called a coconut many times … it’s just words’ By Christian Nicolussi March 12, 2024 – SMH
Tumblr media
In an addition to last weeks suggestion that the press should leave the well rejected idea and affiliation between pacific islander players and coconuts well enough alone, this one broke mid week than none other than Manly forward sensation Haumole Olakau’atu revelation that he has been called a “coconut” countless times by opponents during NRL games, but insists “it’s just words to me”.
All the Sea Eagle can say about that, is that anyone game enough to call Mr Olakau’atu “coconut”, had better be very handy in the self defence department, and on a rugby league field, a very good defender (cos this bloke is guaranteed to run straight at anyone game enough to do it).
The best way to address this fella is “mate” or “Mr Olakau’atu”.
Still he is right, as the old saying goes, sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.
The Sea Eagle it seems, will now have to repeat countless times throughout season 2024 – No Monkey Business.
Spencer Leniu – 8 Weeks Suspension for Engaging in Monkey Business
Tumblr media
As we all know, Rooster prop Spencer Leniu copped an 8 weeks suspension for racial sledging of Broncos Ezra Mam. According to Andrew Webster of the SMH on 11 March 2024  “The judiciary heard that, after tackling Broncos prop Payne Haas, Mam had said to his teammates, “Run it back at Spencer”. That Leniu’s first reaction was to say, “F--- up, you monkey” suggests it wasn’t a premeditated sledge, but a visceral response to a rival player on the blindside chirping at him.”
As the Dark Shark, a great supporter of the Sea Eagle has often said, one of the greatest gifts you can give any child, is to show them how to exploit the blindside. The Sea Eagle suggests Ezra Mam chirping on the blindside “Run it back at Spencer” was not exploiting the blindside as everyone understands it.
As for the suggestion Mr Leniu thought it was a visceral response to a rival player on the blindside chirping at him, the Sea Eagle would like to know Mr Leniu’s thoughts about what he thinks a visceral response actually is ? (there being no question of course that he would be well aware of the location of the blindside on a rugby league field – and how to exploit it).
Still, this whole affair just reeks of the need for everyone to cool down, and simply remember “No Monkey Business”.
Then there was this one:
‘Go Bananas’: Greyhound Racing NSW sacks staffer over Ezra Mam gaffe By Christian Nicolussi March 12, 2024  SMH
Tumblr media
“A few hours after Sydney Roosters prop Sydney Roosters prop Spencer Leniu was banned for eight weeks by the NRL judiciary for calling Mam a “monkey”, a two-year-old greyhound named Ezra Man was due to run in Maitland.
The form comments provided by GRNSW to several betting partners – including Sportsbet – about Ezra Man read: “Go Bananas! Let’s see if we can get some positive Headlines, tonight??”
When a screenshot of the offensive comments started to circulate on social media, Sportsbet shut down betting on the race altogether.
Sources with knowledge of the situation talking on the condition of anonymity confirmed to this masthead the employee who provided the form comment had since been sacked.
GRNSW described the form comments as “inappropriate and offensive” and said via a statement: “GRNSW was made aware of the comment during the evening and immediately deleted the remark, and while this removed it from thedogs.com.au, this correction did not flow through to our partners.
“GRNSW is appalled by what was published, and apologises unreservedly for the comment, and the distress it has caused.
“GRNSW also apologises unreservedly to its partners who were unwittingly and through no fault of their own, caught up in the incident. GRNSW will not tolerate this kind of behaviour and appropriate action has been taken.””
Sea Eagle Comment. The Sea Eagle smells bullsh*7it on this one. One should be very wary of news reports that based a statement of an unnamed persons being sacked, form “Sources with knowledge of the situation talking on the condition of anonymity”.
This one looks straight out of the Director Controversy’s playbook.
Again, as has to be repeated time and time again – If you want to stay out of the limelight – “No Monkey Business”.
Sam Kerr
Tumblr media
Can a white person be racially vilified ? Many suggest not, it being the case to some, who are effectively dead from the neck up, that only white people can be racists and can never be offended by being called a “white bastard”.
Spencer Lenui certainly put paid to that half baked concept. Anyone apparently can be a racist regardless of skin colour.
The Sam Kerr incident has yet to play out in the UK Court’s, but allegations about taxi driver disputes, vomiting in the cab, excess alcohol consumption, then calling a UK policemen a “white bastard” are circulating everywhere. At the moment they are unsubstantiated allegations so let’s just leave it at that for now.
Pity that Sam Kerr did not play NRL. If she did, this is the sort of stuff the newly appointed female head of the Director of Controversy Women’s division (Rachael Slerr) could only dream of.
Imagine, for a moment, if the person in question had instead been a white male NRL player, half tanked in the cab, giving it to a non white UK policemen with words “black bastard” or worse “black monkey”. What would have happened then ???? Imagine also if said mythical person was named Wayne Kerr?
Again, as has to be repeated time and time again – If you want to stay out of the limelight, remember– “No Monkey Business”.

Ovvero Winter in Wonderland by Ae Staff.

Circus beatclub - Brescia
Lo slogan mette energia: : "future is now", il futuro è adesso.
Come scrive lo staff sui social, the Club is back.

Rolling Stone Magazine Top 250 Guitarists - The Omissions List
Once again, Rolling Stone Magazine puts together a list that no one asked for and it's a complete mess. Instead of analyzing craft and technique, Rolling Stone goes for popularity and mediocrity. Who in their right mind thinks that Joni Mitchell, not known primarily for her guitar work, is Top 10 material, but Slowhand himself, Eric Clapton only worth making it it to 35? Also, why is The Edge, probably the worst guitarist ever, have a place in the top 50 and Jose Feliciano, a master of classical style, not even crack the top 200? I can go on for hours about the inconsistencies, but for now, I will focus on the many guitarists that Rolling Stone left off.

Update (11/12/2023): Just discovered Doyle Dykes and he was another omission from the Rolling Stone list. Because I’ve hit the 30 photo cap, he gets an acknowledgment here.
